Re: Sonic Movie Director Promises To Change Controversial Design

@Blister Zelda is a totally different case. They've retained the essence of Link and Zelda even in vastly different artistic styles. Having said that, Wind Wake was STILL dislike by many back in the days.

This "Sonic" movie however, you don't even need someone who likes Sonic to know that blue thing is not Sonic. They lost the character of Sonic and what makes him recognizable completely with this rendition.

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Ditch Physical Media With A 'Switch Lite?'

@rpvl Nintendo is not as short-sighted as just caring about their own wallet unlike some "Triple A" developers now. It understands that it can only make more money when the whole industry is thriving.

Yes, the money doesn't go to Nintendo directly but it says A LOT about their brand equity and market value. All of this has the same if not higher ROI compared to the sales number of games.

Re: Nintendo Tells Mobile Partners To Limit Microtransactions So That Players Don't Spend Too Much

How far has the industry wandered off from making games to milking its consumers as much as possible that when a company cares about its OWN brand image, it's so refreshing?

@Peterjr1 I play FEH and don't really feel the issues that you've mentioned. There will always be whales but it's not like the PvE experience is affected. PvP will always be about competing stats or gear in any game that's not real-time. There are still plenty of space to navigate around before feeling the effect of not spending money. That's usually more than enough to a casual mobile gamer.

@Heavyarms55 "Huh, a video game activity log? What a novel idea! If only the Switch kept track of our playtime too... Oh wait, it does! Just like the Wii, 3DS and Wii U before it! Only there is no app to view that information!".

There is, Switch Parental Control. It's tracks your gaming activities and gives you a monthly summary. I find the app misnamed because it's so much more useful than just parental control.

Re: Review: Tetris 99 - A Revolutionary Take On A Puzzle Classic

I've played 4 hours of Tetris yesterday. 4 hours of Tetris among games like Smash and Splatoon... I didn't know expect this.

It's strangely addictive and intense.

Edit: I wish there's an option to mute the music or give us more music. It gets on my nerves after listening it non-stop for hours.

Re: Sony Gaming Boss Says The Industry Is "Better" Because Of Nintendo's Efforts

puddinggirl

@LavaTwilight It's debatable because the best selling console of all time is still PS2. Nintendo is definitely a juggernaut in the industry but Sony is no less influential.
It's a good thing to consumers when the industry is thriving. In fact, it's good to everyone involved. So Sony is absolutely right in saying this. It's the same to Nintendo - it probably hurts Nintendo more if Sony dies despite them being competitors.

@Anti-Matter The irony in Nintendo's "kiddie" games is as an adult, I prefer to play them much more than "realistic" or "gory" games. May be it's because I really start to appreciate good game design than flashy graphics.

Edit: I'm not saying realistic games don't have good design. There are plenty of great ones on all platforms. At the end of the day, aesthetic and gimmicks don't carry games. They may make quick bucks but it's bad for everyone, including the people who are making money temporarily.

Re: Nintendo Banked $348 Million In Mobile Revenue Last Year

puddinggirl

@Ludovsky While $300+M may not seem to be significant out of the $9B revenue, you need to look at its initial capital to get a better picture.

Just think about investing $1 and get $3 back against investing $10 and get $15 back, that's a 300% revenue vs. 150% though $5 is a lot more than $2.
