@N00BiSH I said 2 was more linear than 1, not that 1 was as linear as the previous two games.
The main point is that Galaxy 2 is received more favorably because it offered entirely new content rather than remixing previous content. Closer parallel to TOTK would be new super Luigi Bros U.
@N00BiSH you say that, but one sequel offers entirely new content as well as a different approach to the overall level design emphasizing challenging platforming over exploration.
I think people are being too harsh. I don't mind that they want to add some variety, I mean a few months ago the complaints were about how the game looks too similar to Prime 1.
From the majority of the gameplay we've seen, it still looks like the core Prime experience and not another Ubisoft esque open world. So I really don't see a reason to worry, but then again some people act like the EMMI sections ruin Dread even though for me they had very little impact on the overall experience.
Way overpriced for some upscaled ports. These should have been remade on the level of Spyro and Crash's remakes. Or at the very least just sell them for half the cost.
What makes it more annoying was how the Wii U shop version went for like 15 bucks each, and you can still find physical copies of each game for about the same price on ebay or your local retro game store.
Not that great tbh. Only thing I'm really happy about is Metroid finally getting a date. Pretty underwhelming for the first direct after the Switch 2 launched.
@jwfurness at least the wii u ports had the excuse of being stuck on the wii u, but I don't care for these when I can already play the original on switch 2.
Compared to how dull the 3DS and Wii U launches were, I think having Mario Kart and Donkey Kong within the first month is pretty good, both games combined have given me nearly 100 hours worth of fun and I'm still not done with them.
Nintendo ultimately wins because of their games. Making a more expensive switch clone offering what you could already play on PS5 or PC is just pointless.
@Pillowpants it also comes down to demographics. Sony fans are generally not the type to care about handheld gaming as much, which was why the Vita was abandoned by Sony.
@Nintendo4Sonic I just play it in short bursts in the mornings before work. I think I'm past the halfway point so I'll see it through the end, but I don't think I'll replay it after beating it for a while.
@SirLink ehh I think people really underestimate the gaming skills of children past the age of 4. I had no problem beating the DKC trilogy as well as DK64 as a kid, in fact I used to like harder games back then because they lasted longer.
Kids today also play stuff like Fortnite or Call Of Duty, and I think multiplayer games have a higher skill ceiling than single player platformers.
@ottoecamn as long as she gets the winning kill on the bad guy while lecturing the hero on how his past heroics have actually created more problems somehow.
@gcunit dread was full price, and there was a coordinated attack on it being a "scam" from various outlets, some even going as far as advocating piracy. Yet it went on to being the best selling in the series.
I wasn't feeling the demo, I felt like it had too much of a souls like influence compared to the simplicity of the originals. I'd also rather play as Ryu instead of some poser with bad 80s hair.

Re: Another Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Collab Appears To Have Been Revealed
Mega Man alone has enough characters for his own racing game.
Seriously though Capcom. Megaman 12, please.

Galaxy 2 is closer to Majoras Mask than TOTK.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Gets A Seven-Minute Overview Trailer
@SirLink yup, nintendo has no other games planned at all, they're capping the switch 2 with mario galaxy remasters
Re: Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Gets A Seven-Minute Overview Trailer
@N00BiSH Galaxy 2 has all new levels which sets it apart.
TOTKs problem was reusing the same world map with minor changes.
They would be closer if Galaxy 2's hub was the Observatory, and the majority of the levels were just slight remixes of all of Galaxy 1's levels.

Re: Sega Reignites Its Nintendo Rivalry In New Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Trailer
@USWITCH64 people who unironically think this game will bury MK World are in for a rude awakening.
Re: Sega Reignites Its Nintendo Rivalry In New Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Trailer
the irony of this as they release this game on Switch 2 lol
Re: Sega Reignites Its Nintendo Rivalry In New Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Trailer
@ShadLink anytime I played a Sonic racing game, I thought it was just okay at best. It just made me want to play Mario Kart instead.

Re: Dragon Quest VII Gets Reimagined For Switch And Switch 2 In Early 2026
@NicolausCamp I think 3-4 hours of no combat is a boring way to start a JRPG
Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Is Getting A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
@jwfurness at least the wii u ports had the excuse of being stuck on the wii u, but I don't care for these when I can already play the original on switch 2.
Re: Virtual Boy Is Being Added To Nintendo Switch Online
Lol i can imagine all the hate click videos titled "SWITCH 2 MAKES YOU GO BLIND?!?!"
Re: Dragon Quest VII Gets Reimagined For Switch And Switch 2 In Early 2026
Hopefully they reimagine that intro lol
Re: Pokémon's Former Chief Legal Officer Believes Nintendo's Latest Patent Will Be Ignored
Is it summoning monsters at all or only if it looks too similar to the way pokemon does it?
I feel like whenever Nintendo is in a controversy, too many people give uncharitable takes to justify their bias against them.
Re: Opinion: Silksong's Tight Construction Is Exactly What I Need After Too Much Open-World Loafing
@MonsterMike c'mon, the dude even said hes happy others are enjoying it, it just wasn't for him.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Demo Races Onto Switch Next Week
Played it on PC and it was mid. Its laughable that some people think this will overthrow Mario Kart.
Re: Nintendo Direct Announced For Friday, 12th September 2025
Let's gooooo MP4 release date
Re: Nintendo Direct Announced For Friday, 12th September 2025
@Suketoudara temper expectations, remember the flaming chibi robo

Re: 007 First Light Is More Than Just Spies And Style, Launches March 2026 On Switch 2
@BTB20 Yeah, but Batman usually looked more mature even in his origin stories like Arkham Origin or Batman Year One.
Re: 007 First Light Is More That Just Spies And Style, Launches March 2026 On Switch 2
@Dee123 reminds me of Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, just way too young looking for the role even if it is an origin story.
Re: Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac Looks Waka Waka Wonderful In New Gameplay Trailer
Game looks great. I always thought it was an underrated gem back then.
I'll be honest though, I feel like Pac Man had more charm when he wasn't talking.
Re: Talking Point: Would Drag x Drive Be Better With Miis Or Non-Mouse Control Options?
The Miis had their reputation ruined with the Wii U's failure. Let it go, it's over.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th August)
Gonna try finishing up Bananza and the Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World.
I also started Metal Gear Delta on PC. It's better than what I expected to be a simple graphical update.
Re: Yooka-Replaylee Gets A Launch Date On Switch 2, Full Physical Release Confirmed
Gonna give it a second chance with this version. I tried to like the original but the levels were too big and boring and I quit at the casino one.

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo's First-Party Switch 2 Games Continue To Dominate
@Nintendo4Sonic Yeah I feel like it has the same problem I had with Odyssey. Too easy and too much quantity over quality in terms of the collectables.
I also feel the same about the lack of a DK feeling, it feels more like DK inside of another game.
Re: Nintendo To Officially Launch eShop In Taiwan
Next were gonna see Doug Bowser eating ice cream while apologizing to China
Re: Devil May Cry: Season 2 Teaser Sets Up A Showdown Between Dante And Virgil
@ottoecamn as long as she gets the winning kill on the bad guy while lecturing the hero on how his past heroics have actually created more problems somehow.
Re: Devil May Cry: Season 2 Teaser Sets Up A Showdown Between Dante And Virgil
@ottoecamn can't wait till he depicts Duke Nukem as another macho guy with insecurity issues
Re: Devil May Cry: Season 2 Teaser Sets Up A Showdown Between Dante And Virgil
@ottoecamn yeah, imagine thinking the "what if the bad guys are misunderstood?" trope along with out of place Green Day music is good lol
Re: Official Box Art For Kirby Air Riders Revealed, Price And File Size Confirmed
It would look better with the classic Kirby font with the big bright rounded letters
Re: Kirby Air Riders Direct Revealed for Tomorrow, 19th August 2025
45 minutes? I bet this game will have a great story mode.
Re: Sonic Mania 2 Prototype Artwork Revealed By Christian Whitehead
It's ashame we couldn't get Mania 2. Penny's Big Breakaway and Sonic Superstars were both terribly mediocre.
Re: Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered Has Been Updated, Here Are The Patch Notes
@Smithicus it was rushed because eidos wanted it to tie in with the second movies release
Re: Nintendo Won't Let Charity Speedrunning Event Use Its Games Without Permission, Because Of Course
@Fiergala small metric
Re: UK Charts: Mafia: The Old Country Whacks Mario Kart World Down A Peg
Just launch hype, Mario Kart will climb back in no time
Re: Nintendo Won't Let Charity Speedrunning Event Use Its Games Without Permission, Because Of Course
@Gatorclops last part got a genuine laugh out of me lmao
Re: Nintendo Won't Let Charity Speedrunning Event Use Its Games Without Permission, Because Of Course
Canceling smash world tour was justified
Re: Nintendo Won't Let Charity Speedrunning Event Use Its Games Without Permission, Because Of Course
@FragRed nobody will care about this by next week.

@Dalamar also worth mentioning that literal children play call of duty and fortnite
Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch 2 Games
This has to be the best launch year for a Nintendo console since the SNES
Re: Pac-Man World 2 Is Getting The Re-Pac Treatment
Nice, I loved the original on PS2 back in the day. It plays like a more chill version of Crash Bandicoot.
