Have you got the need for speed? Then there's no need to worry because GRID Autosport has got you covered. The ninth entry in the TOCA series is scheduled to arrive on the Switch this summer and is described as a "more authentic racing game" by its publisher, Codemasters.
So, when exactly is it due out? According to a tweet by developer Feral Interactive, the game gets the green light this September (aka. next month). While no definitive date was provided, it at least narrows down the release window and makes an already busy month for the Switch even busier.
Although GRID Autosport was originally released in 2014, the Switch version includes some special features. You'll be able to control your vehicle with a tilt steer option and even use the analogue sticks to accelerate and brake. Below is a trailer demonstrating the motion controls:
Will you be ready to race this September? Tell us down below.

It's about time they announced a release date. Really looking forward to this!
I guess not a release date but I already knew it was summer when I asked them last week.
Hmmm....
There's usually a direct in September.
Wonder if they'll announce and release the game during the direct.
Wow! An authentic racing game!? As opposed to all those games that just pretend to be racing games but are actually deep psychological thrillers instead?
[edit] Okay guys, really, this was a joke. No one else needs to clarify anything. Relax!
I have been looking forward to this game when it was first announced. Day 1 purchase. And of course, everything has to release in September.
R.I.P wallets.
Played a lot of Dirt 2 and 3. A little bit of the first Grid. For sure I'm interested if the price is fair
@Heavyarms55 in case you missed it, Forza 7 is actually an uproarious romantic comedy. Knees will be slapped.
@Realness This is made so much better by your username. XD
Fan-tastic! The Grid reboot/reimagine... thing, and Autosport on the go. Now we just need That 90s Arcade GP....
Who am I kidding!?
@Heavyarms55 I prefer UN-authentic racing games. You can preorder or back the project, but it just disappears...
Like That 90s Arcade GP.
I'm not bitter.
This type of racing games and super mario sunshine are the only games where I feel analog triggers are necessary. Ultimately the best case scenario is with a racing wheel on PC. You can't go back to normal controls after that.
@Heavyarms55 I agree the wording is less than perfect from a ‘professional site’... but yes it’s an actual non-mobile car racing game which is good... if it’s good
Finally a proper racing game for Switch, but i already bought it twice. PC and Xbox 360.
In have all Forza games on Xbox One+360, and all Gran Turismos on PS4/3, Project Cars 1+2 etc.
Didn't this already come out on ios?
@FTL Naw it's fine. I was just tying to be funny.
I hope it runs smoothly, absolutely no reason why it shouldn't as it's a 2012 game.
Rather use my r stick for shifting. Hope that's in there. Looking forward to this a lot.
is this actual Switch footage?
Cannot wait
I repeat cannot wait.
Had to repeat as cannot wait wasn’t enough.
So I repeat again cannot wait
I can't wait.Finally a sim racer on Switch.
Can't wait, TOCA and Codemasters have always been quality
Finally a decent racing sim, too bad that Nintendo itself ignores this genre. I wish to see a competitor to Forza and Gran Tourismo series made by Big N.
Whoa, there is an influx of really slick looking games coming to Switch in the coming months! Blimey.
Looks like a great racing sim. Providing it's good this will pad out the racing genre on the Switch. I might pick this up....
I am having a good amount of fun with Rise right now, but just seeing the trailers has me wanting this game.
Not day one for me, I will wait to see reviews. I hope it performs well on switch.
Oh. A racing game with actual effort put into the Switch version. And lo and behold there’s actually excitement and hype. Who would’ve thought. If you just put in a little effort, it’s amazing how you can get people excited. All those Bigben releases... wasted opportunities.
@GrailUK
I recommend paying the Switch forum a visit for the full Sept list I posted. I think it’s in one of these article comments sections as well but I can’t remember which one. Probably The Witcher 3 article.
It’s nasty... Real nasty. See you down at the law office next month when we’re filing bankruptcy 😉
Finally some info. Someone with a twitter account please ask them if they plan to support gamecube controllers for analog gas/pedal.
@Heavyarms55
As a racing fan I can tell you what's on the e-shop is arcade racers, the odd ones that don't fit the mold (like that offroading one) and those 2 mobile ports that claimed to give a serious experience but being adapted from mobile made them pale in comparison to what grid is.
Really they should have called it an authentic driving sim rather than racer for the article but doesn't sound as nice
@Disorientator the answer will be NO.
Played a lot of V Rally on Switch, love that game. But this looks even better. Will wait for reviews
I just want a Burnout 3 Remaster. Since Criterion sold out to EA, there is zero chance.
@JaxonH Lol! It's true! You know the reaction in Futurama when they all get sentenced to death by snu snu. It's kinda like that.
Has anyone seen the Panzer Dragoon footage! My only 'gripe' was the lack of reflections in the water level, but man, I am chuffed to bits they seem to have polished it up!
@nintendolie me too
Day one for me. This looks like the racing game I’ve been wanting on Switch.
@Stocksy I CANNOT WAIT TOO!!! So many games not enough time or money!
Just a shame this is eshop only. I would love a physical version but they aren't making physical (at least the moment depending on how well it sells I am sure). Really looking forward to it but I'll be waiting for a sale as never pay full price for digital games. Physical is a different matter.
Not too interested in this myself, but one of my friends recently bought a Switch (alongside Breath of the Wild and Smash) and he loves cars and realistic racing games. I think he'll be a big fan of this.
This and WRC 8 are on my “cannot wait” list, among others.
I had to buy a secon..... no, third, wallet for September.
With Codemasters on board, it should be fairly good. I'm keeping mg fingers crossed.
Was a fun simcade on the Xbox 360 (It's really not a sim even though it's being labeled as such here; The handling is very easy going and accessible), so I think Switch racing fans will enjoy it.
I recently on the 360 played through the touring car portion and enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to wrapping up the other disciplines soon and bought the DLC add-ons that appealed to me just in case they quietly disappear.
I might even break down and buy the drag racing pack if I find myself wanting more when I've finished everything else, even though that's one aspect of motorsports along with drift competitions that doesn't appeal to me.
From the makers of TOCA which I played on psone? I loved that damn game...
what is unusual is this game got delisted on psn but is available to buy on switch, a push for more sales maybe?
@longy81 they really want to kill off physical on the switch don't they?
@oji I guess they feel the genre is overcrowded/mature. What can they do to improve on it? Granted, how many realistic Nintendo games do you see? Nintendo games generally also seem to be story/character driven and this genre doesn't seem to lend itself to that.
FINALLY!!! I’ve been waiting for news about this game for, like... ever!
@huyi yeah I love having a box and everything. They're collectors items. Something that I own. For as long as I decide. Not how long it's playable in the eshop. I have a PS4 as well and that is also true about that as well.
@huyi No, it's still available on PSN. It's on sale right now for $7 (Game only) or $16 or so for the game with all the DLC.
Goes on sale about once a month or so for some reason there, while the DLC never goes on sale on Xbox Live.
the lab boys told me that this the greatest thing since sliced bred.
