Re: Nintendo Switch Online Will Start On 19th September, More Info Coming In Direct

maruse

@Yorumi You might find laughable Nintendo’s reasons for not offering cloud saves for Splatoon and Pokémon, but those are very valid and concerning reasons nonetheless.

I can’t say I agree (or even care) about those game not supporting cloud saves but there’s no denying that Nintendo’s reasons are very valid. I’ll blame cheaters instead of Nintendo.

Re: Nintendo Direct Officially Rescheduled For Tomorrow, Thursday 13th September

maruse

It’s almost cruel how Nature likes to screw with us... Last week a huge typhoon and earthquake, this week a hurricane... (and still some people are bullheaded enough to keep saying that climate change isn’t a thing)

After a reschedule from a disaster, I don’t see Nintendo doing it again no matter what, even if a second earthquake were to hit Japan today again. That would really negatively impact their financial plans for the rest of the year so even if the sky starts falling down we’ll get our Direct no matter what. Sigh...

Re: Nintendo Spends Big On Television Advertising In Month Of August To Fend Off Spider-Man

maruse

The title of this article was purposely chosen to start an argument between Nintendo's loyalist and Sony's. I can't see other reason.

There is no way in the world that the advertisement money that Nintendo used in August was for the sole purpose of stopping Spider-Man from selling. How could Nintendo fight against Spider-Man with no games releasing in either August or September? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

I really dislike all the console wars and the "who won the year" stuff, but to be honest, 2017 was Nintendo's Year, 2018 isn't. Even Smash won't change that. Sony published better games than Nintendo this year. That's a fact and doesn't bother me in the least. Being a Nintendo fan doesn't mean that I need to be a Sony hater.

Re: Exclusive: Wulverblade Is Going On Sale To Celebrate Its Biggest Update Yet

maruse

@fullyilly Thank you for reaching out to me! That was nice and unexpected.

These are great news and you brighten my day a bit but, unfortunately, it couldn’t come at a more terrible time. The typhoon and earthquake have hit us hard. This is becoming the longest and hardest week in my entire life. The typhoon has ripped half of my rooftop and we’ve been without electricity since Tuesday and still no clue when it’ll come back.

I’ll be extremely happy to finally be able to buy the game when things get back to normal but it’s going to take a while...

Anyway, thank you!!!

Re: Nintendo Direct Delayed Due To Powerful Earthquake in Hokkaido

maruse

You should read the comments of some people over at Nintendo Everything. I just had to leave or become mad.

Delaying the Direct was the right and expected decision. Between the typhoon and the earthquake there are millions of people without electricity. This was a business decision as much as a respectful one to the country as a whole.
People can wait a few days to watch some news about video games.

Re: Rumour: Yet Another Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, Switch Online Details Incoming?

maruse

@Perryg92 I’m also not sure that with the current situation around here a Direct will be airing tomorrow.

Nintendo is lucky they’ve lost just an N... My mother’s in law house has lost half the rooftop and we’ve been without electricity for 36 hours now. I’ve been recharging my phone (which is what I’m using now) using tons and tons of batteries.
If the electricity doesn’t return soon it’s going to kill me since I can’t work. This is going to be one of the worst years in my whole life.

Re: Nintendo Is The Sixth Most Desirable Company Among Japanese Undergraduates

maruse

@AirElephant Like you said, working for the government in Japan means a job for life with all the benefits included. In one word: stability.

Working for any other company means that you don’t know if you’ll still be working there next year.

Government work might be dull, but it’s there for life and that’s a very big incentive in these uncertain times.

Re: My Hero One's Justice

maruse

Great game! Very fun and full of fan service. But be warned that it comes burdened with extremely long loading times. I hope Bandai issues a patch as soon as possible. That loading times are causing the game to get a lot of 1-star reviews in Amazon Japan just because of that!

Re: Switch Retail Game Sales In Japan Surpass Lifetime Wii U Retail Sales In 18 Months

maruse

Actually, it is very simple: I owned a Wii U and a PS3 but, for the most part, I didn't care much about playing games on them. With the Switch, on the other hand, I REALLY want to play games on it.

It is not about the specs of the system at all, it is all about the experience of playing with that system, and on the Switch that experience is superb because the Switch adapts to my life-style allowing me to play freely when I want and where I want, instead of forcing me to search for an opportunity to sit in front of a TV to be able to play anything.

That alone makes the Switch the best console ever made (for me).

Re: Illegal Game Sharing Site Mocks Nintendo's Recent Legal Actions With Trolling Video

maruse

I find amazing how some people feel like they have a right to play those games however they want.
Those games are Nintendo’s property to do as they please whether you like it or not and they are in their right AND obligation to protect said property.
All that “game history preservation” is just cr*p talk and just a very poor way to justify the stealing of others property. It’s as simple as that.

Re: Bandai Namco Releases Two New Dragon Ball Trailers

maruse

I, too, haven't touch Xenoverse 2 for a long time. I still like it and play a little bit sporadically, but games like BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle or My Hero Academia: One's Justice are giving me much more fun than Xenoverse ever did.

I'm looking forward to Dragon Ball Fighterz though...

Re: Cosmic Star Heroine Dev Explains Its "Frustrating" Experience Working With Nintendo

maruse

@DreamerDC Well, Nintendo has done nothing to improve the eShop except that you can browse by best selling games, new games, upcoming games, sales, and there’s even a highlights section... yeah, nothing at all.

The eShop can still improve in a lot of areas but saying that Nintendo hasn’t done anything to improve it is just untrue.

One more thing: expecting Nintendo to do the developers work in promoting a game is beyond ridiculous. They do exactly that with a seriously great number of games but it is impossible to give every single game the same exposure. The developers are the ones that need to take care of their own promotion.

Besides, now the developers are getting all the attention they could have ever wanted with every one talking about them these days (which might be one of the reasons to do this in the first place, even though he later said on Twitter that the one to blame for the game’s poor performance is himself alone and not Nintendo).

So, yeah, like you said this is “completely” on Nintendo’s shoulders. </s>

Re: Video: Get A Closer Look At The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch Pro Controller

maruse

I really like the black and white color pattern... I don't like the logo though.

I don't own any Pro controller yet, so this might be the first one if they've addressed the issues with the D-pad that some people seem to have. Although thinking about it twice... for the same price I rather get a new game instead since I'm perfectly satisfied with the Joy-Con grip layout.

Re: Capcom Has Announced An Onimusha: Warlords Remaster For Nintendo Switch

maruse

@Cobalt All new games for me... I guess it is impossible to satisfy everyone...

I see your point though. Capcom could have given a little more thought to the textures and all but in the end, graphics aren't what makes or breaks a game. Also, the low price point means that it is a low cost "remaster" instead of a full blown HD remake.

Re: Capcom Has Announced An Onimusha: Warlords Remaster For Nintendo Switch

maruse

Sweet! I never played the original so this will be a new experience for me! And the price point being the same as Okami plus the physical version in Japan with new Japanese voice acting added (just before Christmas, on December 20th!) makes it all the sweeter.
Tomorrow's Famitsu will have a 6 page special dedicated to the game. Looking forward to it.

Re: Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase Summer 2018 Announced For 28th August

maruse

I want a Nintendo (Japan) focused Direct like everyone else, but a Nindies Direct (the Nintendo UK showcase wasn’t one) is still great.
To be honest, I find indies to be incredibly more appealing than most AAA games as of late. The AAA “space” is riddled with yearly releases that make little sense because they’re all basically the same game with a slightly new coat of paint. There are exceptions, of course, but they’re few and far in between.
There are also plenty of indies that are too similar to each other and there are a lot that are just plain horrible games, but in the indies are the only ones that still think about gameplay and originality instead of graphics and ways of monetize that multimillion budget bloated things that people call AAA (yet again there are obviously exceptions)
Before the Switch I used to despise indie games as not worth my time or money... How wrong I was! Indies are giving me the best experiences playing games for years! Without going too far I can honestly say that Hollow Knight is one of the best games EVER indie or not.

Re: Switch-Exclusive Senran Kagura Reflexions Will "Deliver Exciting Sensations" This September

maruse

@vitelus That’s obvious and absolutely true. But it doesn’t make it any less artificial anyway...
My point wasn’t that anyway. I guess it’s not easy to express precisely what I want to say, specially in a foreign language.
What I wanted to say is that we take for granted that our western way of thinking is the only good one and anything that differs from it is because is perverted and wrong.
Is that air of superiority that the western world has that make us look at every other culture from above and with disdain most of the time. And it is absolutely flawed.
I’ve been living in Japan for fifteen years but I’m not Japanese so I’ve got the benefit of knowing about how the west thinks and how Japan thinks. And one is not better than the other, just different. Japanese are, for all their rigid and strict culture, a much more tolerant and open minded culture than the West. They can differentiate between fiction (in this case a game) and reality more accurately than we could ever dream.

Re: Switch-Exclusive Senran Kagura Reflexions Will "Deliver Exciting Sensations" This September

maruse

@KingdomHeartsFan I see your point but it’s flawed.
Sexual attraction is infinitely more natural than violence. I won’t go into age issues since that is very tricky and changes from culture to culture but let me say that a 17-18 year old boy or girl is still considered a child legally but it is not a child either physically or mentally. I could go as far as to say that from the moment a boy gets his first eyaculation or a girl her first period, they’re kids no more. All this depends on each country culture and anyway it’s totally artificial since it’s man working against Nature.
Not long ago the age for considering a person able to have sex freely was 14 or 15. I believe that in Spain is still around that age.
Anyway it’s just a game, nothing more.

Re: Switch-Exclusive Senran Kagura Reflexions Will "Deliver Exciting Sensations" This September

maruse

I can’t believe how people get so “disturbed” by things like this.
There’s no nudity here and even if it were, what’s the problem? That the girls are high school students doesn’t make you a pervert. They’re cartoons.
People feel bad for touching high school cartoon girls but are perfectly fine shooting realistic people in the head? Tell me who’s the one with issues here. When violence and murder are viewed as normal and acceptable but some light erotica is not, we’ve got a problem.
Also that this game is a substitute for real human relationships in Japan is just a laughable argument... Japan do have serious social issues, but not more than any other country in the world. This society might be rotten, but it’s not because of Japan.

Re: The Switch's Home Menu Uses Less Than 200 KB Of Resources For Super-Fast Load Times

maruse

Some people want themes (and I understand why though) without really realizing the cost to performance that it could represent.
The normal resources needed are now under 200KB... if you add a theme with a background image and custom icons, we’re looking at doubling or tripling the resources needed just for that. A high quality image is quite heavy...
I can see themes totally coming someday soon and I won’t mind but it will mean a much less responsive experience.
I never use themes myself so I don’t care much if Nintendo never adds that feature. Folders might be nice though.
