The last One Piece game released on a Nintendo system was Pirate Warriors 3 Deluxe Edition on the Switch. Before then, Unlimited World Red - Deluxe Edition was also made available on the hybrid device.
If you're a fan of the series, you will have no doubt heard about Luffy's upcoming open-world adventure, One Piece: World Seeker. The Bandai Namco title developed by Ganbarion is currently slated for a 2018 release on all modern platforms but the Switch.
DualShockers recently sat down with producer Rei Hirata and asked about the chances of the new One Piece game being released on the Switch. Hirata said it was dependant on what the fanbase had to say:
We had already started developing [the game] before the Switch came out. We already have our hands full developing just for PS4, Xbox One, and Steam that have already been announced. We’ll see what the fans say, and then think about Switch.
Would you like to see the latest One Piece game sail across to the Switch? Are you a fan of the anime series? Do you play the games? Let us know in the comments.

I would absolutely love this! This game looks so good!
Grammar, please.
Yes please!
Alrighty then...
I request a One Piece: World Seeker port.
That should do it, right?
I'm not begging and neither should any Switch owner.
Have they not been paying attention? People ask for a Switch version of everything. No need to even ask at this point.
@MsJubilee I couldn't agree more. Switch is selling, there's no reason for fans to port beg at this point.
But... raising my middle finger won't make any noise! xd
Seriously though, screw Namco and their attitude that we have to beg for every game they make!
Stop port begging, if developers can't figure out to put their games on Switch that's on them. They have investors to answer to, they'll know if they !@#$%^ up.
I would have loved this on Switch. But just like DQXI - ill get it on whatever box it comes out first. To big of a fan to wait.
GUMO GOMU UFO
if they are not gonna release it and demand requests for it. then i'll just get it on another platform.
Honestly it doesn't look good imo. I expect it to be not better than 7/10 (I hope I'm wrong since i love One Piece). I wouldn't complain about getting more games tho, but honestly Switch Hardware & Software Sales are good enough to get us games without needing to port beg.
I won't get it if it's not on the Switch, so there's that.
Looks interesting, otherwise. I'd like to check it out.
@Rika_Yoshitake I think you mean stop making us beg. After a whole year of successful sales, this is just mind boggling.
Not that I will be getting this anyway. But asking us to port beg at this stage is now ridiculous. I fully expect this to stop when Smash launches - that's when the sales can speak for themselves.
where can i make noise
So, they have already released two other One Piece games on the platform and they don´t have a clue to whether it will sell or not?
I like how Switch owners constantly have to request or "prove themselves" to developers instead of them, you know, just porting it over? What is up with that?
Cant say I am that bothered. Game looks pretty average
I'm relatively hooked on One Piece (despite still struggling to allocate time for it and binge on past the first 400 eps - most of which were watched back in my student days), and anything open-world on Switch is pretty much automatically on my radar and wishlist these days. Noise made, nhSnork out.
Interest expressed.
(It's not begging)
I personally don't want this game so I'm not really going to ask for it. The other One Piece games I've played haven't been very special.
I was interested to here more about the game itself and features but I should have known better when there's sensational fervor to be had.
Eh, let me put it this way.
If it comes to Switch I'll probably check it out. If it doesnt come to Switch I can't be bothered.
Unless a game is like, super duper "game of the generation" level of excitement and 110% for sure will never come to Switch, then it's gonna be a lost sale on their end. I've got too many excellent hybrid games I can take with me whenever I leave and keep playing to bother with games that only provide 1/3 the flexibility. And many of these games are coming to Switch anyways, so I'm just holding off and waiting. Dragon Quest XI, Dark Souls, DB Fighter Z... holding out for Switch has continued to pay dividends.
Wow!! Sincerely this game looks really nice!! Yes I want it for Switch.
What us beg when NSW sells more then ps4 pro you obviously are bought and paid by Sony. Why else would you make such ridiculous statements after NSW blowout sales compared to ps4. Even small companies like LRG, SRG never can make enough and you have the gall that we should beg. Your clearly are in the pocket of Sony without a fact.
Companies keep telling Switch owners to beg for new games, and then people act surprised when activist Switch owners do stuff like hassle Gears for Breakfast on twitter about not bringing A Hat in Time to the Switch.
I will give it 300 hours to see if I like it.
@MsJubilee
Straight up man. At this point they should be eager to put it on the system. Now don't get me wrong, I can understand some of the trepidation at first (seeing as how Nintendo players at some time left 3rd parties out to dry when it came to buying their games), but at this point it seems like there's too many examples of people having decent to excellent success to be kissing someone's butt to get a game.
Especially since it's not like they're doing Nintendo fans a huge favor when they put games on the system. It's not like they're releasing the game late and discounting the price, going the extra mile with added content for the wait or something like that. People are paying full price just like the other users. So you charge Nintendo fans full price just like the other users, but you want to give it to them way later as well.
At this point, it should cost you more to sell me that game then. As now I want something added or a discounted price for making me wait all that time if I'm still buying it. Luckily though I'm not exactly into One Piece. Although I can still empathize with their fans.
Yeah we shouldnt have to 'request' it.
If they bring the game to Switch, ill check it out. If not, too bad.
Let’s first see if it’s any good to begin with. I’m not convinced it will be.
No, I won't make some noise. A switch version should be a privilege for them, not us. If you want your game to sell, you release it on Switch. If it's good, it'll sell. The Switch is where the sales are at the moment, so we shouldn't need to even express interest or "beg" for releases to be considered.
If the game can feasibly run on Switch, and there are no exclusivity deals with the publisher, release the damn game on all platforms, including Switch, geez.
There’s no other feeling quite like being treated as an afterthought...
I’ll let you in on a secret Namco; if your game is good, Switch owners will buy it.
@geheimxy
Well I agree with you a bit about it maybe not looking all that good, I also have to take into account that I'm not really in the One Piece series. And yeah, I can see it being a seven out of ten type of game. Isn't that what they're usually all around? However I do disagree with your statement about it not being very good and then being in the 7 of out of 10 range.. As a 7 out of 10 in and of itself is very much above average. I don't know how or when a 7 out of 10 game starting to be viewed as a bad game.
I hate that. Why do we have to beg and then pay for games? The system has a decent install base. Port the game.
@Blizzia
Exactly my fellow gamer. Acting like them releasing a game is a privilege for us. Hell no it's not. It's not like it's a necessity such as food or water or anything. It's JUST a game Besides that, remember to tell yourself that there are plenty of other people out there releasing games to grab your cash, hard-earned or otherwise. That's what I've always done after all. You don't want to support me, well then I don't support you, simple as that. I'll give my money to another hard-working Dev who wants my money and seems to respect me as a customer.
Look at what Bethesda's doing for you as a customer for example . They didn't make you beg for Doom Eternal or leave you in limbo wondering if you could see it on your preferred platform. They just factored you into the equation and are giving it to you. And while they may not be able to put every game on the Nintendo Switch given it's obvious hybrid nature & obvious lesser specs going with that, they are definitely supporting the device and their fans a lot more respectfully and earnestly.
Again, they're putting the new Doom on there for goodness sake! A sequel to a game that many people had as a game of the year that year. While they're wanting people to beg for another One Piece game that will probably not even ever be considered in the same vein. And I say that not trying to disrespect one piece fans or diminish the title in their eyes (or at all really) but just giving out my personal take on it.
And even if you want to respectfully ask for this game, remember to tell them that It's a privilege for YOU to have ME buy YOUR game for real. As it's my money that's helping YOUR bottomline and not the other way around. Remind them that you should not have to beg a be thankful as there is definitely no favor being done in you giving them your money and them giving you a product. It's about time that somebody's property companies realize that. And that you you make them respect you as a gamer and potential customer. Let them know that you're not going to beg them all the time.
To those people interested, your money spends and is green just like the other user bases and people that they are catering to like sony's. And given that they're not giving you any bonus content, most likely, won't optimize it wholeheartedly for the system, are making you wait and almost assuredly going 2 charge you full price as well, it is clear that they're not going to look out for you to do you any favors. F that begging stuff at this point!
BRING. THIS. TO. SWITCH.
@Aozz101x
Lol see I'm a bit of a of a different Beast with that. As if I want it on a preferred platform and you can or might put it on there, but won't for whatever reasons, I simply won't buy your game at all. Sure I may have another capable system, but I may want to play it when I go out of town, during a commute or when I'm bored as hell at work. These things are certainly a factor, and it's also about having a choice.
And with practices like that you are effectively limiting that and trying to shoehorn where I play and how I make a choice. So you may just lose a sale all together with your bulls***. Which I'm sure is not a problem for some other developer out there, because that just means I'll spend my money with them a bit quicker. Hell, maybe look at some games that I may not have really considered purchasing at that point in time or at all and give them a chance to grab a new fan.
Honestly I am getting very tired of begging developers to bring their games to Switch though. The best outcome is we get a choppy port, the worst outcome is we get totally ignored or treated like dirt for voicing our love for their games. We hear developers all the time talking about how they love the system and/or they might bring x game to Switch but rarely does anything ever come of it. Sometimes it feels like it's all just a part of some massive conspiracy sigh Well there's nothing we can do anyways. If it doesn't come to Switch I just won't be buying it. End of story. I'm not holding my breath anymore.
What a stupid demand from the developer. Of course fans are going to request it.
Hmmm... One Piece the most popular manga in Japan + the Switch the currently most popular/best selling console week to week in Japen = Not profit?
I think they should consider it even from just a bottom line perspective and forget about the fans asking for it. They would recoup costs with the Japanese sales alone.
@gameboy1975 Agreed. I'm using my hard-earned money to support all the devs whose games I appreciate by doing day one purchases.
If they're not going to tell me they want my money by releasing it on the platform I use, I'm not going to beg THEM to come take my money. They can come beg ME for the money if they want.
I've already paid almost all my september games and they're all coming day one. Sure as hell not going to beg for games to come, I'm being flooded with them already, and loving it!
Bandai Namco really like people begging, don’t they? It was the same story with Dragon Ball Fighterz.
Well, they won’t have me asking for it this time around. All One Piece games usually are either bad or very mediocre at the best, so I’ve got no interest whatsoever in this one.
One Piece is an incomparably huge franchise in Japan with countless fans and endless merchandise. The Switch is the hottest selling console in Japan right now.
If the developer cannot put 2 and 2 together then the dev must live under a rock.
Personally I am getting sick of "well if fans want it, we will consider a port"... Really sick of that nonsense.
I love the visuals for World Seeker. Definitely different than some of the other One Piece games.
@gameboy1975 yeah i meant that's what i believe is the maximum. I would be positively surprised if it does reach that level. It's more of a 5/10 rn. And I have too many games that are considered at least 8/10 that i haven't catched up on to bother with these type of games.
Also, normally games based on anime are around that 6 or 7/10 mark. However, the Naruto Storm series, a few DB games, One Piece Unlimited Cruise & Pirate Warriors series are games that are imo 8/10 or higher. When i first saw it, I was hoping it would get close to the Unlimited Cruise series, which right now I don't feel like it.
@gameboy1975 agreed. i'll probably still get the possible port of the switch version. if i like it and play enough of the game.
I could care less what they bring to the Switch. But if they expect me to beg, they can do a twirl on my middle finger.
Namco make 80% sub par games and aside from their DBZ games which already come here, all their anime spin off games are just fodder games. Good fodder games but fodder games non the less.
I doubt this will be any different.
And actually just to add, I'd rather the game was field tested on the PS4 and Xbox One before being ported to the NS thank you very much.
We don't want shoddy games and your anime spin off games are mostly shoddy games anyway. (Aside from DBZ)
Edit: look at the last One Puece game they bought to the Switch... It was crud.
I couldn't care less. One Piece, in general, has become on eyesore for me. The anime just never ends, cheaply made, and...this isn't the place for a rant.
I have to agree with Razer here if they can't figure it out by now they will never and my money will be better spent else where to buy games that will come to me.
I don't get the vitriol in this thread.
It's probably not up to the game's producer (who is quoted in the article) to decide which systems to release the game on, but rather his higher ups. In such a situation what else can he say?
Between Dragon Ball FighterZ, Go Vacation, My Hero One's Justice, Namco Museum, Naruto trilogy, One Piece Pirate Warriors 3, Taiko no Tatsujin, Tales of Vesperia Remastered, and that Japan only baseball game, it's not like they're ignoring the system (all these games are this year, I believe), so it's likely just that the game started development long before the Switch released (it looks pretty grand in scope), and as such funding for a Switch version isn't in it's current budget.
I think One Piece would benefit from a PowerStone like fighter instead of an open world game that has villains repeating similar tactics from the Manga.
WHY ARE COMPANIES STILL DOING THIS?
Name one 3rd party game that doesn't sell on Switch. Even Street Fighter 2 sold well on the switch, and it was $40!!! Oof angered rant over
Literally only made an account so I can comment that I want it for the switch! Please make it happen
I want to see this on the switch sooo badly!!
It really should be on the SWITCH. I have not been the biggest One Piece fan, but that game looks sick!
I WANT THIS ON SWITCH! NOW!!!!!!
@luisv96 I also did the same thing
That they are even hesitating about releasing one piece world seeker for the switch is hard to imagin...
Please release it for the switch you would make allot nakama with it.
Bless
Arrigato
