I installed this on my Switch and played for a couple of days... I had even totally forgotten about it...
I might play a bit more on mobile. This is a game to spend five minutes at the most everyday. This shouldn't be on the Switch in the first place. Just my opinion though...
Already installed it but so far I'm not really sure what's going on in the game... I guess I'll need to go around and try to find something but it seems that in my area there are no yokai anywhere to be seen... Just like with Pokemon GO, I'll probably play a couple of days and then forget about it...
I’ve never played Fortnite before it was released on Switch. I gave a chance several times and the only thing I got from it was frustration and being killed by some random guy before even knowing what was going on. I’ve never disliked a game in my whole life like I dislike this Fortnite thing. I don’t think this new mode is going to change my perception of the game in any meaningful way. Definitely this is not my kind of game. Honestly I can’t even believe what it’s making it so popular. It’s the antithesis of what I could call fun. OK, rant over. For those who do enjoy the game it’s great it’s getting lots of updates and support.
They need to think the release date very much. With both Pokémon and Smash Bros coming by the end of the year, a release date too close to those games might turn to be a problem for Yokai Watch since it won’t be able to compete with them. They should either release before Pokémon or wait to early next year.
If you want to play a realistic tennis game choose a tennis sim instead of Mario Tennis. It’s like expect a FIFA game match to last 90 minutes (I shudder just thinking about it), or Mario Kart to be more like Grand Turismo.
I mean, options are good and all and it shouldn’t be a problem for Nintendo to offer those options, but it is not as shocking or problematic as some people are trying to make it.
I bought this game the instant I knew it was on the eShop. I'd love a physical version, but I don't regret in the least buying this game early because all the hours I'm spending with it are pure bliss.
@geshem it’s a very challenging game but not punishing. Try upgrading your nail or find more masks to increase your life. Also try with different combinations of charms. Some benches might be a bit far from the boss but I haven’t found one yet that is far as five minutes... you should explore a bit more and try to find if there’s a closer bench somewhere. And remember that you can always skip a boss and come back later when you’re more prepared for that fight. Blindingly trying over and over again will only frustrate you.
I’m 22 hours in and loving every single second of it.
It’s my favorite game so far, almost perfect in every possible way. It’s a resounding 10/10 from me.
I can’t recommend this game enough to anyone even remotely interested in Metroidvanias.
The art style, the sound, the setting... everything is outstanding.
Best money spent ever!
All this talk about being treated equal is not about being treated equally from a technical point of view. It’s all about the business point of view. As long as a game is made for PC will all its wildly different configurations, then a Switch port is very well between the realm of possibility. It can be done but publishers need to find the reason to do it. And that reason is sales, both hardware sales and third party software sales.
@Anguspuss I guess we “idiots in Japan” could say the same about those in Europe and America, since there are plenty of games that we don’t get here and for those we do get is usually months and months later. And I’m not talking only about indies, since big publishers are the same: just look at Ubisoft and compare its Western release schedule with its Japanese one. Everything goes both ways I guess, but I don’t use to call people names when it bothers me.
@GamingDude800 Yes, but that’s the same with PlayStation Plus, isn’t it? Or Netflix or any other streaming service. And to stretch it a bit, even with a “traditional” VC where you could buy the games, you’ll lose access to them sooner or later because the servers will stop providing those downloads sooner or later. You could say that you can backup those downloads to a SD card but, let’s be honest, that’s just a temporary not definitive solution. So, in the end, even if you buy the games, you don’t really own the games, you’re just given the illusion of ownership not real ownership. It sucks, but it is what it is.
I’m perfectly fine with this. If they keep expanding the games and platforms available, it’ll end being a thousand times better than any VC. I mean, I’ve never bought any VC game but having them all available anytime could make me play games I wouldn’t bother with otherwise. From my point of view is perfect however you look at it.
I don't see any problem on the 3DS and Switch coexisting. The 3DS/2DS are now the budget hardware for those little kids that are getting their first console, and the 3DS is just perfect for that role.
I don't think we will see many more new games on it, but as long as the hardware and backlog catalog keeps selling, keeping it alive as long as possible is the smartest move to make.
This game was actually the highlight of the Direct to me. I'm soooo getting this as soon as it is released. Between this and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle I couldn't be happier concerning fighting games.
I stood up until 2A.M. for the Direct and I found out that except Dragon Ball FighterZ, there was literally nothing for me there.
I don’t care about Fortnite or Smash Bros. so it was an extremely disappointment in its entirety.
I mean, that’s what Nintendo had to announce? Just two games? Mario Party and Smash Bros.? Only that?
It looks like apart from Octopath Traveller, Wolfenstein and DB FighterZ, I won’t be getting any other Switch game in 2018.
I’m beyond disappointed.
2017 was awesome, 2018 is being terrible so far.
I want to see Metroid. I couldn't care less about Fortnite. I want to see a completely new IP that no one has heard of and surprises us all. I want to see some announcements about many of the games that have been announced in other presentations but haven't got a word about a Switch version. I'm completely sure it's not going to happen but I want see Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Skulls and Bones and Assassin's Creed announced for Switch (I guess the new Doom and Wolfenstein are quite probable as long as they're still using the same engine)
As long as I can buy just the game and unlock everything without the need to buy the toys, I’ll give this a chance but if the toys are mandatory (even if it’s just a starter pack) I won’t bother.
Not really interested in it but I guess it's good for those who are. I'd rather play a card game on my phone or iPad than on the Switch... but that's just me. Also, the game is not available in Japan even on the iOS store so I haven't tried it. For card games, I'll keep playing Hearthstone or Magic since those, at least, are available in Japan.
Not interested. I haven’t played it on my phone, not going to do it on my Switch either. Granted, they haven’t announced platforms on almost any game so there’s that blind hope there... but.... Disappointed to say the least.
I don’t think anyone was actually expecting any announcement beyond FIFA.
As far as I’m concerned EA can all but disappear. I’m not even buying FIFA. The only thing I want is for them to lose the Star Wars license.
This was blown out of proportion form the start. Translations can't be done literally and context and many other things need to be taken into account. And to point out something... it was the press "outside" Japan the one who made of this something that it wasn't. For the love of God, stop using Google Translate to write your articles.

@Heavyarms55 Give it a chance. This game is very approachable for all kinds of players even if you are not good at fighting games (I suck at fighting games but I love this game!)
I bought this day one in Japan and I can’t believe how awesome this game is.

@1UP_MARIO Not entirely true... Just check the number of games available and you’ll notice that in Japan we’re over 200 games short when compared with the US (most of them indies, but still...) Also there are games like ARMS or Kirby with demos in the US but not in Japan. If I may say so, Japan is treated as secondary to the US except for, obviously, Japanese publishers, and even some Japanese publishers make weird decisions sometimes. I’m referring specifically to Nippon Ichi Software which is releasing Yomawari in the West but not in Japan (unless they announce it at a later date)
Is there something I’m not getting? Or are there already hackers messing around? I just had a match against Waluigi, but he’s not a selectable character in the demo...
Who cares. They’re in their right to try to protect it (for all the good it’s going to do anyway...)
It might be just my personal opinion, but I find the uploading of videos of the story mode just the same as uploading a movie: it spoils everything.
I don’t stream or even watch them, so it doesn’t affect me at all.
I bought the game yesterday and I’m loving it. That’s all that matters.
This is why I will alway prefer arcade style football games with totally fictitious teams instead of simulators with real teams. I understand there are millions of people who do love simulators but, honestly, money grabbing from license holders and the whims of executives spoil everything.

But anyway, ti each their own. I'll be buying one to try it for myself.
