Re: Reminder: Pokémon Quest Launches On Mobile Devices Today

maruse

I installed this on my Switch and played for a couple of days... I had even totally forgotten about it...

I might play a bit more on mobile. This is a game to spend five minutes at the most everyday. This shouldn't be on the Switch in the first place. Just my opinion though...

Re: Fortnite's 'Playground' Mode Is Imminent, Set To Offer A Very Different Way To Play

maruse

I’ve never played Fortnite before it was released on Switch. I gave a chance several times and the only thing I got from it was frustration and being killed by some random guy before even knowing what was going on.
I’ve never disliked a game in my whole life like I dislike this Fortnite thing. I don’t think this new mode is going to change my perception of the game in any meaningful way.
Definitely this is not my kind of game. Honestly I can’t even believe what it’s making it so popular. It’s the antithesis of what I could call fun.
OK, rant over. For those who do enjoy the game it’s great it’s getting lots of updates and support.

Re: Mario Tennis Aces Won’t Let You Play A Regular Game Of Tennis

maruse

I don’t see the problem.

If you want to play a realistic tennis game choose a tennis sim instead of Mario Tennis. It’s like expect a FIFA game match to last 90 minutes (I shudder just thinking about it), or Mario Kart to be more like Grand Turismo.

I mean, options are good and all and it shouldn’t be a problem for Nintendo to offer those options, but it is not as shocking or problematic as some people are trying to make it.

Re: Review: Hollow Knight (Switch eShop)

maruse

@geshem it’s a very challenging game but not punishing.
Try upgrading your nail or find more masks to increase your life. Also try with different combinations of charms.
Some benches might be a bit far from the boss but I haven’t found one yet that is far as five minutes... you should explore a bit more and try to find if there’s a closer bench somewhere.
And remember that you can always skip a boss and come back later when you’re more prepared for that fight. Blindingly trying over and over again will only frustrate you.

Re: Review: Hollow Knight (Switch eShop)

maruse

I’m 22 hours in and loving every single second of it.
It’s my favorite game so far, almost perfect in every possible way. It’s a resounding 10/10 from me.
I can’t recommend this game enough to anyone even remotely interested in Metroidvanias.
The art style, the sound, the setting... everything is outstanding.
Best money spent ever!

Re: Release Window Between Consoles And Switch "Shrinking All The Time" Says Panic Button Boss

maruse

All this talk about being treated equal is not about being treated equally from a technical point of view. It’s all about the business point of view.
As long as a game is made for PC will all its wildly different configurations, then a Switch port is very well between the realm of possibility. It can be done but publishers need to find the reason to do it. And that reason is sales, both hardware sales and third party software sales.

Re: Release Window Between Consoles And Switch "Shrinking All The Time" Says Panic Button Boss

maruse

@Anguspuss I guess we “idiots in Japan” could say the same about those in Europe and America, since there are plenty of games that we don’t get here and for those we do get is usually months and months later. And I’m not talking only about indies, since big publishers are the same: just look at Ubisoft and compare its Western release schedule with its Japanese one.
Everything goes both ways I guess, but I don’t use to call people names when it bothers me.

Re: "The Virtual Console successor is Nintendo Switch Online" Says Reggie

maruse

@GamingDude800 Yes, but that’s the same with PlayStation Plus, isn’t it? Or Netflix or any other streaming service.
And to stretch it a bit, even with a “traditional” VC where you could buy the games, you’ll lose access to them sooner or later because the servers will stop providing those downloads sooner or later.
You could say that you can backup those downloads to a SD card but, let’s be honest, that’s just a temporary not definitive solution. So, in the end, even if you buy the games, you don’t really own the games, you’re just given the illusion of ownership not real ownership.
It sucks, but it is what it is.

Re: "The Virtual Console successor is Nintendo Switch Online" Says Reggie

maruse

I’m perfectly fine with this. If they keep expanding the games and platforms available, it’ll end being a thousand times better than any VC.
I mean, I’ve never bought any VC game but having them all available anytime could make me play games I wouldn’t bother with otherwise.
From my point of view is perfect however you look at it.

Re: Dedicated Handheld Systems Are Still A Key Business Driver For Nintendo

maruse

I don't see any problem on the 3DS and Switch coexisting. The 3DS/2DS are now the budget hardware for those little kids that are getting their first console, and the 3DS is just perfect for that role.

I don't think we will see many more new games on it, but as long as the hardware and backlog catalog keeps selling, keeping it alive as long as possible is the smartest move to make.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's E3 2018 Went Big On Smash Bros. But Left Us Wanting More

maruse

I stood up until 2A.M. for the Direct and I found out that except Dragon Ball FighterZ, there was literally nothing for me there.
I don’t care about Fortnite or Smash Bros. so it was an extremely disappointment in its entirety.
I mean, that’s what Nintendo had to announce? Just two games? Mario Party and Smash Bros.? Only that?
It looks like apart from Octopath Traveller, Wolfenstein and DB FighterZ, I won’t be getting any other Switch game in 2018.
I’m beyond disappointed.
2017 was awesome, 2018 is being terrible so far.

Re: E3 2018: What Do You Want To See From Nintendo At E3?

maruse

I want to see Metroid.
I couldn't care less about Fortnite.
I want to see a completely new IP that no one has heard of and surprises us all.
I want to see some announcements about many of the games that have been announced in other presentations but haven't got a word about a Switch version. I'm completely sure it's not going to happen but I want see Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Skulls and Bones and Assassin's Creed announced for Switch (I guess the new Doom and Wolfenstein are quite probable as long as they're still using the same engine)

Re: Bethesda Brings The Elder Scrolls: Legends To Switch

maruse

Not really interested in it but I guess it's good for those who are.
I'd rather play a card game on my phone or iPad than on the Switch... but that's just me.
Also, the game is not available in Japan even on the iOS store so I haven't tried it. For card games, I'll keep playing Hearthstone or Magic since those, at least, are available in Japan.

Re: The Splatoon 2 News That Was Set To "Shock The World" Seems To Have Arrived

maruse

This was blown out of proportion form the start. Translations can't be done literally and context and many other things need to be taken into account.
And to point out something... it was the press "outside" Japan the one who made of this something that it wasn't. For the love of God, stop using Google Translate to write your articles.

Re: Soapbox: Fortnite Is Coming So Nintendo Really Needs To Sort Out Its Voice Chat Problem

maruse

Voice chat is one of the things I despise the most in online games. Having a bunch of people, insulting, threatening and mocking each other is not what I could call fun or necessary, and, sadly that’s what 90% of chat is about with most (if not all) multiplayer games.
I hate it with a passion, and never ever use it.
As far as I’m concerned no voice chat is a plus instead of a con.

Re: Ubisoft CEO Believes The Next Generation Of Consoles Will Be The Last

maruse

I see that totally happening but not yet, not even after the next generation. It is still a long way off but this is definitely the future of gaming.
Everything is becoming subscription-based, from TV to music and software, games are the next logical target. The future where we don't own anything, and everything is rented with a subscription is inevitable. And I hate it.

Re: Review: BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle (Switch)

maruse

I bought this day one in Japan and I can’t believe how awesome this game is.

The DLC might be off putting for some, but it isn’t worst than any other fighting game out there. I don’t mind it and I’m planning on getting the All-In-One pack sooner or later.

Apart from the lack of Arcade mode, this game is incredible! Right now it is one of my favorite games on Switch, and the one that gets played the most. This 9 score is very well deserved.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online Membership Appears On Amazon, Said To Release 30th September

maruse

Mmmmmm, lots of people keep saying that Nintendo’s online is terrible but, except a couple of times in Splatoon 2 with a dropped connection, I’ve never had a problem with it at all...
Pokken and Splatoon (except for those two times that I remember) play perfectly fine with no lag whatsoever.
I bought Blazblue Cross Battle Tag a few days ago and the online is perfect there too, completely responsive with no noticeable lag.
The lag and poor online might be more of an issue with each person Internet connection than with the online service itself? I’ve got no idea but so far, it is working flawlessly for me...

Re: Reminder: The Mario Tennis Aces Pre-launch Online Tournament Begins Today

maruse

@1UP_MARIO Not entirely true... Just check the number of games available and you’ll notice that in Japan we’re over 200 games short when compared with the US (most of them indies, but still...) Also there are games like ARMS or Kirby with demos in the US but not in Japan.
If I may say so, Japan is treated as secondary to the US except for, obviously, Japanese publishers, and even some Japanese publishers make weird decisions sometimes. I’m referring specifically to Nippon Ichi Software which is releasing Yomawari in the West but not in Japan (unless they announce it at a later date)

Re: Arc System Works Lays Down The Law With Streaming Guidelines For BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

maruse

Who cares. They’re in their right to try to protect it (for all the good it’s going to do anyway...)
It might be just my personal opinion, but I find the uploading of videos of the story mode just the same as uploading a movie: it spoils everything.
I don’t stream or even watch them, so it doesn’t affect me at all.
I bought the game yesterday and I’m loving it. That’s all that matters.

Re: FIFA's Rival Pro Evolution Soccer Takes Another Hit With Loss Of Dortmund License

maruse

This is why I will alway prefer arcade style football games with totally fictitious teams instead of simulators with real teams. I understand there are millions of people who do love simulators but, honestly, money grabbing from license holders and the whims of executives spoil everything.
Inazuma Eleven or Mario Strikers are waaaay more appealing to me than FIFA or PES could ever be.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

maruse

I played a bit of Mario Tennis. So far I’m liking it but there’s so much going on on each match that I can’t get a single shot right.
I bought ICEY but I haven’t even launched it yet because I also bought Blazblue Cross Tag Battle too and that’s going to take most of my time but I’m reserving a few minutes each day to Pokémon Quest and The Snack World Trejarers Gold too.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon GO’s ‘Casual’ Influence On The Mainline Series Is A Good Thing, At Least For Now

maruse

I'm perfectly fine with these games. In fact, I think they are a wonderful idea both for newcomers and for veterans who want to try something a bit different.
The hatred here is out of place... It is becoming Federation Force all over again. Most of the hatred is just because they wanted a mainline core RPG and didn't get it yet (though we're getting it next year). But anyway, ti each their own. I'll be buying one to try it for myself.
