I don't know why they chose to port the worst Zelda game (in my opinion obviously), I would have been happy with Wind Waker or perhaps a port of Majora's Mask... but Skyward Sword? I'm very disappointed.
How can you redeem it for free if you have the physical version? Even if the cart in and the game running, the eShop stills shows the game at full price. I went as far as to add it to the shopping cart and check out, but before the confirmation it still shows full price...
Even if there is indeed a Switch Pro in the works (which I think is very possible), I don't see it being capable of doing 4K with good performance and keeping its portable form factor and price. That's way too hard with current technology. It's more realistic to target 1080p/60fps with better quality textures and effects, or perhaps 1440p/30fps.
I’ve worked for them several times as a freelancer, but anytime I try to get into the company I get rejected...
They don’t seem to be interested in employing web designers or front end developers, they outsource all their web related stuff... which is good for me I guess. Although I’d prefer to work “at” Nintendo permanently as opposed to work “for” Nintendo just sometimes.
I don't understand why "uchi" is being used... If there is a need to use a Japanese term, then use the actual word used in Japanese which is "aneki" which is much more appropriate than "uchi". Uchi is a casual way to say "me" or "I" in Japanese.
Anyway, really helpful guide! I'll be consulting it very often!
@noswitchbutidc You can use them to decorate your house and the island, and some have (afaik, since I just have one) cool effects at night that make them look like they’re cursed or enchanted... So they’re not a total waste at all.
I’m not concerned about bringing only fakes sometimes. Fakes also have their uses. What really concerns me if that he just never comes. Since he was made available he has come to my island just once. Just a single time!! That’s what really bothers me. All the other characters appear regularly each week, why is he different?
Something you can finish in 5 minutes and with nothing worth noting... Not much of an event in my opinion... I'm not complaining, it's just that it was... underwhelming? I think this was just an excuse to make people visit the museum and nothing more.
I'm completely sure that not single one of those "multiple games heading to Nintendo Switch" will be a Star Wars game, so they can keep them to themselves. There's nothing I want from EA except Star Wars. I can't wait for the day they lose the license.

Anyway, to each their own, I only wish they could keep it for themselves instead of flowing Twitter with their posts spoiling the game for others.
@sixrings You’re comparing apples to oranges. Different games, with different art styles will obviously have different hardware requirements. Mario Kart at 30fps would be unacceptable. Why? Because the hardware can handle more than that. Other games with more complex and demanding graphics will obviously run worse on that same hardware. So you’re getting it all wrong. It’s not about caring or not about graphics, it’s about understanding and accepting the limitations of the hardware.
First give us in Japan an easy way to play MK and THEN you can worry about getting Scorpion in Smash. This goes deeper than the games being violent. DOOM is as violent and can be bought here without any problems. Then you got Injustice which doesn’t have MK’s gore problem but it not available in Japan either. CERO only affects consoles, so then why is MK also blocked in Steam? Like I said, MK/Injustice not being available in Japan is much more deeper than just gore/violence. I think that WB just doesn’t care for whatever reason.
You people in Europe and specially the US care too much about insignificant things...
My kids (10 girl, 13 boy) have been playing this game, they love the anime (me too) and I never found anything that might make think that this game (or anime) isn't fit for kids... Definitely the Japanese way of thinking is too different from the West, but I'm a Spaniard (although living in Japan) and even as such I never though the game needed any censoring or tweaking for a Western release (well, except in the US and maybe UK)
Anyway, the game is a lot of fun even if it do gets repetitive a little...
@nessisonett Just asking because I really don't know, but did Sony paid for Persona? Is there a contract that says is restricted to PlayStation only? If not, then there's no sense in comparing it with Bayonetta because Bayonetta 2 and 3 only exist in the first place because Nintendo paid for it...
They didn’t tease anything. They just tweeted that to let Capcom know they want to, but it’s Capcom we’re talking about here. It’s never happening. Capcom is only interested in Monster Hunter or rereleasing Resident Evil games. It’d be perfect if something like Bayonetta 2 could happen but I don’t see Capcom willing to share this property with Nintendo so... although I want Okami 2 badly, I don’t have hopes it’ll ever happen
@JaxonH That’s good to know!
I guess the game is going to be perfect for me graphics wise. I mean I don’t own any PS4 or Xbox or high end gaming PC and my graphics “standard” is still on the PS3 age (which was the last Sony console I owned, along with a PS Vita). If the game looks like a PS3 game I’ll be completely satisfied about its graphics.
So far, I’ve played Doom on my 55-inch 4K TV and didn’t think it looked bad...
I'm getting it as soon as I get the chance I really like the new demo, the art style is awesome and the music is extremely cool too. I've never liked mech games but I'm liking this one. This game is getting bashed way too much. It's a pity because is not as bad as people say, not even close.
Although I’m not a fan of mech games at all, I actually found the second demo to be very enjoyable, to the point that it convinced me that I want this game.
The only problem is that it’s releasing very close to a lot of games I want to get first, and since I just can’t afford everything I want, I need to be picky about what I buy. That leaves this game in the secondary list: I will get it but not on release day.
@MarzipanD Thank you. I’m definitely picking it up sooner or later, but I don’t know if it’ll be on release day because there are many games I want to play first.
I’ve been very interested in this game since I first found out about it, but since it won’t be published in Japan my only option is importing... Is the game good? I’m torn because some people say it’s a bad game but I like the few videos I’ve watched and the dark setting is very appealing...
This Direct wasn’t too good for me since there were no surprises (at least surprises that interest me) but the huge amount of games being released is astounding. I can’t keep this pace. I just don’t have the money needed to buy everything I want on release day... and that’s great! 2019 it’s being a great year for gaming.
There are several things to take into account to understand those (not bad at all) numbers.
1. Astral Chain is a new IP and, in gaming, Japanese don’t usually get hyped for new stuff until they’re completely sure they’re going to like it.
2. Astral Chain has shortages problems. Obviously PlatinumGames thought it was going to sell less than it did.
3. Astral Chain is one of the most expensive Switch games right now and using the Voucher can be bought for almost half the price. I’m pretty sure that a huge amount of people bought the game digital. Last time I checked it was number 1 on the eShop charts.
I bought the game physical because I buy all my games that way (and because it can be resold someday) but I actually lost money by going physical instead of digital... The voucher in Japan gives huge savings.
@kepsux I live in Osaka (not in Osaka City city proper but close to KIX, closer to Wakayama than Osaka) and I see plenty of Switches around. Perhaps it's a Kanto vs Kansai kind of thing? lol
I bought it heavily discounted and liked what I’ve played so far.
It has a lot of flaws that don’t have anything to do with the game itself but with Ubisoft decisions. Not putting the whole game on the cart, forcing you to unpack the toys again once a week to keep using them without that stupid grip, not having the weapons unlock as story rewards...
The game itself is great, but the “business” decisions surrounding it were terrible.
I’ve only played two and a half hours or so but I love it.
I don’t know much about the story yet but it can’t be worse than Bayonetta’s story, and as bonkers as those games stories might be they’re awesome games.
PlatinumGames is not about story. It’s about awesome gameplay and Astral Chain doesn’t disappoint in the least. My hype for the game was very much on spot!
This game deserves to sell like hot cakes!
Edited: I just re-read my comment and I think it was written out of excitement after playing the game and being pleasantly surprised by it.
Saying that it’s the game of the year but just after a couple of hours playing was too hasty.
I still think this game is a strong contender for the Game of the Year, and I’m still loving every second of it after more than five hours, but my first reaction was hasty. No one can judge a game objectively after just a couple of hours.
@OorWullie You are completely right. But in the specific case of ESO, the problem is no power per se, is that the game is just too big to fit on any SD card and because the game's engine is a terrible mess that doesn't run well even on powerful hardware. With that horrible engine Bethesda wouldn't be able to make it run on Switch even if they wanted.
@Mr_Muscle I think that you are just trying to find a non-existent conspiracy on purpose. But well, you are totally free to do that if that gives you any kind of pleasure. I better get to work! Have a nice day! (and I'm nor being sarcastic with that: I wish you truly have a nice day)
@Mr_Muscle I think that the problem with your comment was not that you aren’t hyped by or like the game, but that you called the reviewer a liar which was totally unnecessary and definitely not deserved.
We’re not talking here one good review against plenty of bad ones. This game is getting stellar reviews everywhere so, at the very least, that says something about its quality.
Stating your opinion and calling someone a liar are two very different things. Your comment wouldn’t have got any notice if you had left the accusations out of it.
Anyway, reviews are just opinions. I really hate Dark Souls but everyone else loves it so... I’m hyped by this game but I haven’t played it so I won’t know if the hype is deserved or not until I actually play it. Watching gameplay videos or reading reviews is not enough for me to form an educated opinion.
It’s weird how I’ve been living in Japan for more than 15 years and I haven’t visited Akihabara even once... and I don’t even feel that I want to. In the extremely rare occasion I might want to visit some places like Akihabara, Osaka’s Den-Den Town is more than enough. It’s closer too.
@Kalmaro It's been available in Japan since the end of June, but I bought it last week so I haven't had a chance to play it much yet. I'm just a few hours into the game.
@abINC4L @Kalmaro You can actually control the Yo-kai. You are free to change which character you use during the battle. Battles can get very chaotic!!
I never got into the 3DS games, but Yo-kai Watch 4 is very good (as long as you are fine with lots and lots of dialogue, since you spend more time reading that battling)
@Stocksy You’ve got everything I said wrong. People justifying illegal translations and complaining when the publisher, rightfully, threatens with legal action is what prompted my comment. They’re working to publish the book outside Japan. If you can’t wait, it’s your problem. And in general terms, not related directly to this specific case, I still think that people DO feel entitled about EVERYTHING.
I have no interest in this game whatsoever. Not for the boobs but for the gameplay in general.
But why are some people so scared of boobs? Specially boobs that are just a cartoon...
Last time I checked this was just a video game. You know, fantasy, not real, completely and totally unrelated to any resemblance of reality...
I’ll ask again: why are some people so scared of boobs?
Anime characters aren’t real, aren’t “underaged” (they’re students but could be university students for all I know or care), aren’t a reflection of real people.
Me, I like seeing boobs more than a person being killed. But I guess I’m weird and belong to a “list”.
I love me some double morals and hypocrisy. Killing is good, boobs are bad.
This is just a very niche game and targeted at a very specific and small market.
I really dislike people in the West generalizing Japan as a “pervert” country when in truth it couldn’t be farther from the truth. Don’t talk about what you know nothing about, would you?
I don’t know if it’s possible or not, mainly because it’s too big not because it’s too demanding. Anyway, I do hope that the rumors are true because unlike most people here believe, not everyone owns multiple consoles, and I want to play it.
Saying the the Switch sells very well in Japan only because it is a portable device is not entirely accurate. Yes, portability is a huge advantage but what ultimately sells the console are the games. And the Japanese feel an affinity for Nintendo that Sony with its Western approach can't match. Also, the fact that the PS4 is already at the end of its life is a factor to be considered.
I watched it in Japan and liked it. Although I don’t think it was a great movie, I do think it was a good movie. Very entertaining and watchable, which is what I’m looking for when I watch a movie. I can’t comment on Reynold’s performance since I watched the Japanese dubbed version. I didn’t find the language to be concerning in the least but that might be just the Japanese version, I don’t know. In the end, I enjoyed it and that’s more than enough for me.
There’s overwork everywhere. Living in Japan I fight with it everyday. People commit suicide here because they are worked to death. Literally. Overwork is one of the reasons I decided to work from home as a freelancer. At least that way the overwork is more bearable. I hate overwork and companies that impose it on its workers with a passion. Life is much more than work.
@ThatNyteDaez It’s not really an issue but everything is basically the same repeated over and over again. But like I said, for me and for kind of game it is, is not really a problem. There are tons of different enemies, weapons and gear. Crafting your “fashion items” and following the trend of the day is a big deal. The bosses are really cool and the story is bonkers, just like the anime (which I really like). Resuming: even with the repetitiveness, I like the game quite a bit.
It’s a really fun game although a bit repetitive since most quests are really similar to each other. Anyway, if you have seen the show and like it you’re in for a treat.
1. You can only use credit cards or gift cards issued in the country you want to make an account for. If you want to buy in the Japanese eShop only credit cards issued in Japan or Japanese gift cards will work.
2. Your news feed will get news from all the countries you have an account in, which will turn it into a nearly useless mess...
3. It is possible to just change the country associated with your account and you will keep all your Platinum and Gold coins obtained in each store, but separate from each other. Although you won’t be able to use gold points obtained from a different country if the currency is different, so a game bought on the US won’t redeem on the Japanese account.
4. You can’t change countries as long as there are funds in the account. Before changing country you need to expend all current funds.
5. As long as the game ID is the same, DLC will work across all versions. For example, if you buy a game on the Japanese eShop and later buy DLC for that game on the US eShop it will work as long as the game has the same ID across all regions. Currently I don’t know how to check a game’s ID but it’s been confirmed that this works AT LEAST for Breath of the Wild. I’ve got no idea if this works for other games, although I’m pretty sure that it won’t work for Splatoon 2 since the Japanese game is treated as a separate game from the West.

The art style is perfectly good. I don't see why anyone would complain.
More important is that this game is being made. Yay!

Re: EA Set To Launch "Multiple" Titles On Nintendo Switch In 2020

Re: Random: Star Wars Rogue One Writer Wants Reggie On His Animal Crossing In-Game Talk Show

Re: Random: Reggie Tells Fans He Would "Never" Time Travel In Animal Crossing
Time travel is not for me. It's the same as cheating which is something I don't agree with.

Re: Talking Point: Saber Interactive's Latest Witcher 3 Update Sets A New Standard For Switch Ports

Re: Retro Studios Is Seeking An Art Director For Metroid Prime 4
In the meantime Metroid Prime Trilogy could help a lot with the waiting. That, and a new 2D Metroid.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry Ponders A Witcher 3 Switch Port
I don’t know if it’s possible or not, mainly because it’s too big not because it’s too demanding.
Anyway, I do hope that the rumors are true because unlike most people here believe, not everyone owns multiple consoles, and I want to play it.
Re: Switch Has Now Been The Best-Selling Console In Japan For 15 Months In A Row
Re: Dead Cells Gets Free 'Rise Of The Giant' DLC On Switch Today, Passes 2 Million Sales
Just as a quick notice: the DLC is free everywhere except Japan. Here isn't free...
Re: Talking Point: Does The Nintendo Switch Game Voucher Programme Offer Value For Money?
At least in Japan, those vouchers are a superb deal.
Depending on the selection, you can save more than ¥5000, which is like buying two games and getting the third for free.
Considering that Nintendo game hardly get any discount in Japan, this is an unbeatable deal... as long as you don’t mind being digital only.
Re: Command The Dead When Undead Horde Rises Up On Switch Later This Week
Awesome concept but I’m not fond of the art style. I need to know more.
Re: Sega Ages Line Struggling To Appeal In Japan, Interest Overseas Better Than Expected
They’re just to expensive for what they are. I think the price is the biggest problem.
Re: Movie Review: Pokémon Detective Pikachu Does Enough To Break The 'Bad Video Game Movie' Curse
Re: Mortal Kombat Studio NetherRealm Accused Of Taking Advantage Of Contracted Workers
Re: Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl Gold Rated By The Australian Classification Board
Re: Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl Gold Rated By The Australian Classification Board
It’s a really fun game although a bit repetitive since most quests are really similar to each other.
Anyway, if you have seen the show and like it you’re in for a treat.
Re: Guide: How To Buy Nintendo Switch Games From The Japanese eShop - Region Free Accounts
Some points should be made clear:
