I played the demo and loved it way more than I thought. I don’t think that the price is a real problem, what I think is that this game is not geared too much for a Western audience and outside Japan is not going to get many sales. Japanese are going to be much more in touch with art style, the crazy story and the sushi puns and all than anyone else. I don’t see it breaking any sales records in Japan either, but it’ll probably fare much better around here.
@BenAV I'm the opposite. I really like the cute art style and playing co-op with my kids will be fun. I don't care much about the integration with Pokemon GO, but everything else looks perfectly fine to me.
I love this game, it is very difficult (at least to me) but I love it. The last boss is driving me nuts though... Best money I've spent in a long time.
@KirbyTheVampire #6 I couldn't have said it better myself.
Some people are disappointed or downright angry at Pokemon Let's Go, but I believe that those games are the perfect way to attract new players to both the Pokemon series and, more importantly, the Switch. More sales is a good thing for everyone, both Nintendo and all gamers.
The hardcore fans will get their time next year and in the meantime, giving these game a little chance won't hurt anyone.
Even if it comes to the Switch, if some of the rumors are to be believed and this is mostly an online game I will just ignore this game. I'm hating this trend to make games online focused instead of single-player/story focused with the multiplayer as a nice add on like it used to be before.
I think it looks cool. It's a spin-off with the new mainline game coming next year, so this will make the wait a little bit easier I think. And now that we know that there won't be news of the new mainline Pokemon game during this year's E3 (probably) I wonder what big game will take its place instead...
I’m not a JRPG fan but I did like the demo quite a bit, though I found it quite challenging. I’m really looking forward to this game but if the difficulty proves to be too high I might need to skip the game entirely... I hope that’s not the case
@Bunkerneath You should actually check the rewards we get in Japan... I don't think they are great in any way. This 50% discount is very nice, don't get me wrong, but apart from this, there is nothing else worth spending gold points in.
No one should expect game news in a TV program that airs at 7am and is directed to elementary school kids... It might be something related to the anime, who knows, but surely is nothing game related...
The shop desperately needs a Featured section and linking to “Other games like this” from the game’s page. One thing that the store doesn’t need is ratings, specially user ratings, since those are almost always biased and not representative of the game’s quality at all.
@fullyilly Honestly, if the game ends up being released in Japan I won’t be able to thank you enough! I’ve never been this hyped for an indie game since the original Shovel Knight and that’s not just flattery, it’s the truth.
If you could accept a suggestion, I really hope that the option to freely choose the game’s language is available. A lot of games come with several languages but they don’t allow you to choose, they just pick up the default language of the system instead. A simple menu allowing you to choose would be very appreciated.
@ekwcll That counting that you do have a phone to connect it to... and that your current plan won't bankrupt you after streaming several hundreds or even gigs of data...
Not too happy about all this "cloud" thing... I prefer to own the games instead of renting them. Also streaming comes with a lot of problems, from unstable connexions to input lag. The fact that you need to be tethered to the Internet to play this single player game, defeats completely the motto of the Switch since you can't play "Wherever. Whenever."
I hope other publishers don't follow suit and this ends being just an odd experiment.
@Heavyarms55 I tried it this morning and it played smoothly enough. The only issue I had was that the sound was popping in and out constantly...
That and that with only fifteen minutes I could only get into the house and the demo time finished just when I was going upstairs. I didn't have time to try anything... I just wandered around some empty rooms. I would've liked to know how the game run with some action heavy scenes...
I'm not giving Capcom my money for this thing....
@roboshort Well, except that it is... For starters I don't want to fragment everything among several accounts, then I need to create and account with a fake address and then there is the issue of adding funds to that account since Japanese credit cards aren't accepted in the US eShop... For some people it is OK going through all that, but not for me. I'd rather wait until the game comes to Japan and if it never does... well, I guess I'll never play it then...
@Executer66 You don’t need to apologize for anything! I don’t think that what you wrote could offend anyone! And I didn’t reply trying to “defend” that game, just to point out that a HD remake could be something I wouldn’t mind getting and, in fact, it would pleasantly surprise me! Anyway, I totally see your point since with Nintendo we don’t really know what to expect.
This is "specifically" targeted at those who already own a Switch and want a second one but don't need all the extra stuff. It even says so explicitly on the page: 2台目用セット which literally means "second unit set"
I watched Marty Freedman playing the game and it was so great I thought “I must own this!”... then I played the demo and found out that it wasn’t for me.
@BigKing Well, considering that the install base of Switch is still smaller than PS4 or Xbox One and that publishers like EA, Bethesda or Capcom have publicly said that they are very satisfied with the sales they’re getting on Switch that “third parties never perform well on Nintendo systems” is not very accurate this time. I’m not accusing you of being a fanboy (I don’t even know you) but you do sound like one, since you only comment to point out how bad Nintendo systems are compared with the competition. And for Black Ops not coming to Switch, I couldn’t care less since the killing of the single player campaign also killed the game for me. Another game franchise I don’t need to care about ever again.
I don’t like much simulators like FIFA so this game with its arcade like play style is quite appealing to me but... I really dislike that art style. I just can’t stand it so I don’t see myself buying this. Inazuma Eleven looks way more appealing to me.
@OorWullie Except for the fact that you are renting the game instead of buying it. $20 (more or less) might not seem much at first sight... but you are paying for the privilege of playing for a limited amount of time only. Honestly, I don't like this approach.
If the bothered to release it in Japan, I might probably pick it up since it looks like some fun but... they won't (they didn't release the first one either)
@cfgk24 I haven’t played that game (or this one) so I can’t say for sure, but all the other Warriors games I’ve ever played before, lost their appeal within the first hour of playing them. I just don’t see how a Zelda or Fire Emblem re-skin could change that, so I’m very apprehensive about expending my money on them. They’re just not my cup of tea I guess. But it is awesome that you do enjoy them though!
Not on my wish list. The Zelda coat of paint doesn’t hide the fact that the Warriors games are mindless and dull button mashers. I love action games but find the Warriors series extremely boring.
@Heavyarms55 But that's an hypothetical "if". I'm talking about the are and now. At it's current price right now, it won't happen. It is completely unrealistic except for the handful of families that need not care much about costs. For the "common" mid-class family (which is the biggest market) it is a really hard pillow to swallow.
@Heavyarms55 I'm aware of that. That's probably why I'll never own more than one Switch. Nintendo's vision of multiple Switches in a household is never going to happen unless they start thinking about "families" as a whole instead of each member individually.
I need a family sharing policy for digital purchases before I even consider getting a Switch for each of my kids. Also it is not clear if kids accounts under a parent account need the family subscription to be able to play or just a single subscription will suffice. For different users with different Switches I understand, but if with only just one Switch shared among all users we still need to pay for a family subscription I won’t be happy at all, since only ONE person can use the online at a given time and paying multiple times seems abusing on Nintendo’s part. I’m contacting Nintendo’s customer service directly to try to clarify this.
I think people are reading too much into this. Too be honest, I don't see anything in that page that might tease a new game or something similarly big that Nintendo might announce. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I think that this is just the magazine teasing a Japan only contest, or promotion, or god-knows-what, related to Splatoon 2 and not a Nintendo's announcement or anything. Don't get your hopes too high. But like I said, I'd love to be proven wrong.
@frabbit In Japan we are like 200 or 300 games short when comparing to the US/Europe. Most of the indies that are taken for granted in the US/Europe never even come to Japan.
I'm still waiting for Wulverblade (just one among countless other titles) and I will, probably, wait forever.
For the price, it is a perfectly nice offering but, you know? Haters gonna hate and whiners gonna whine. What are people expecting? To pay $20 and get NES, SuperNES, N64, GameCube and Wii games from the start? And then just give us new Switch games for free too.
The ONLY complaint that is deserved is the lack of back up saves locally to a microSD card and the weird way of doing voice chat (though I couldn’t care less about that since I’ve never used chat on multiplayer games and I will never ever use it), everything else is just whining.
Both games look awesome. I love the Gunvolt games so the new one is a sure purchase. As for Bloodstained, I’ll be getting it too for sure! Specially at that sweet price!
