Earlier this week Natsume confirmed that River City: Knights of Justice is coming to 3DS in the West; now we have a release window for that game and news of another entry in the series due this year.
First off, Knights of Justice will be a 3DS eShop release and is due in the summer - some PR spiel and one of the few videos we can find with actual gameplay is below.
River City: Knights of Justice, known in Japan as Nekketsu Mahou Monogatari, is scheduled to launch as a 3DS e-Shop exclusive this summer. Kunio and his friends go medieval in this unique entry to the River City series as they are transformed into heroes and villains that would be at home in any RPG! Players will use swords, staves, and even magic to bring peace back to Riverandia!
Next up is River City: Rival Showdown, which seems to be headed to retail on 3DS this Fall. This is also a localisation of a previous Japanese release, and will be more familiar to eager followers of the franchise.
River City: Rival Showdown, known in Japan as Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari SP, will launch this fall for the Nintendo 3DS. One night, Kunio is attacked by two mysterious individuals. On top of that, Riki's girlfriend has disappeared, and it's up to Kunio to find out the truth! Kunio has just 3 days to unravel the mystery, and he'll need your help to take down all who stand in his way! Take on some familiar faces from the River City games and meet new ones in this fast-paced beat-'em-up RPG.
Both of these games will be playable at E3, so we'll certainly try to give them a bash.
The previous release of River City: Tokyo Rumble evidently performed relatively well to encourage Natsume to localise more games for the West. Are you interested in either of these upcoming 3DS releases?

Oh wow. Really embracing those RPG elements I see
Cool, I do wonder why they aren't both retail though. However I'm getting both either way.
both games here
The world needs more Kunio. Super happy for these recent developments, at this point I was expecting never to play either of them.
Does either game support co-op play? I was stunned that River City Tokyo Rumble did not.
I love River City Ransom but half the fun was couch co-op. Really hope these (or any game in the franchise) make it to Switch one day!
Cool.
Yeeeees!!! I'll probably buy River City: Rival Showdown since it seems to have a better combo system.
Gosh...
Kunio kun from Bad Boy looking become Bad Knight...
Yes!...looking forward to Barf of them!
These various Kunio games need to be released in compilations. I want to play them all, but how can I if most of them don't sell well?
Yeah this looks good.
I've been wanting Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari SP since I saw the trailer last year! I'm excited for this fall!
Kunio, bro, you're only 30 years old, you can still make a big comeback as an all sports champion!
Anyway, these look awesome and I will likely buy them both even though they don't involve Kunio breaking literally every rule in every sport.

As much as I like these games I wish they would release them on the Wii U, cause I rather play them on the big screen.
"Next up is River City: Rival Showdown, which seems to be headed to retail on 3DS this Fall", game for which there are no screenshots, nor media.
Thomas, please hire someone to more fully buff the game's pages. they are too bare bones!!
The whole thing just looks like a double dragon rip off
That last one sounds like Crash and the boys street challenge.
@Bunkerneath the studio that created Double Dragon also created this series.
