Continuing my analogue pocket binge over the last month, this weekend I have so far finished sonic advance and moved on the f-zero: GP Legends where I’m just finishing up story mode. Just managed to crack the notoriously hard Black Shadow mission so I should be home free!
To keep on theme I’ll be gaming whilst watching the formula one on the telly hoping McLaren take home the 1, 2 win in Belgium.
If I have time I’ll probs jump into fzero 99 to see how I fare.
@JohnnyMind yeah I agree. It’s marketed as Pokemon with guns because that’s a great PR hook, but looking deeper at the game today I realised it is its own thing and that hook only summarises a very small part of the experience. I’m going to dive in and try it. I also think TPC will never do what they are doing so it’s a constructive way to bring this very starved genre forwards especially for a more adult audience. I enjoy all TPC games but I do think there are merits to this taking off.
@Fizza just wanted to say that your comments are always so positive and full of enthusiasm, it always makes me smile reading them and reminds me of why I love gaming. There is sometimes a lot of cynicism in the comments sections and it’s refreshing seeing your approach by contrast! That is all 🙈Lol
I was fine on my play through of SV but I have been STRUGGLING with how ugly this game is and how poorly it runs post revisiting the DLC after getting used to TOTK. However I’ve got a shiny H arcanine bred especially for the DLC so I will finish it regardless. Hopefully things pick up after the teal mask, because it has been a snorefest so far
@UltimateOtaku91 that’s so incredibly true for me as well. GTA, need for speed underground, def jam vendetta and Tony hawks in my teens… then boom 💣 discovered other genres like RPGs etc etc and have completely different taste now and never looked back. It’s a rite of passage when becoming a gamer I feel.
Finally rolled credits on Digimon survive and today was a great Xmas eve spent with the family playing switch sports, trombone champ, moving out and the MK booster course tracks. For once we didn’t play overcooked. I also dived into fzero 99 for the first time today and absolutely loved it!
I’ve been arguing with myself on whether I start FE Engage as my main game over the Xmas break or the Violet DLC, decisions decisions!
241 in TOTK (loved every minute of it and so pleased I got my fill before my son arrived!)
173 in violet (mostly spent building a shiny competitive team, competitive play and shiny hunting, looking forward to diving into the dlc this Xmas with them)
34 hours in Digimon survive (liked this a lot more than I thought and was a great game to refresh me after TOTK insanity for most of the year)
Elsewhere, 73 hours on PS5 for P5R and I feel like I’ve still got ALOT of game left 😅
Chapter 9/12 of Digimon survive done, have really enjoyed it so far and has been a nice palette cleanse after 180 hours of totk. Aim to try and get it finished in the next week or so so I can pick back up persona 5r (I’m at the pyramid palace) which I need to complete. I’m also eyeing up the DLC for SV over Xmas too as have some shinies I want to take for a spin that I was hunting earlier in the year, aswell as start fzero99. Happy gaming everyone
Still riding high off completing TOTK last week, I’ve been smashing through Digimon Survive ever since. I’m halfway through and really enjoying it. It’s much more visual novel than it is SRPG but tbh after the meatiness of TOTK it’s working as a nice palette cleanser before I work to finish P5R over Xmas (at the point where you pick up Haru). Will try and get it done before pat leave finishes next week if baby will allow!
@LadyCharlie with respect, I think this is quite a tired view of capitalist society to adopt. Corporations can absolutely be people’s friend and be great places to work if they have a great board, great leader and great company culture in my opinion. The bottom line is people have raised standards these days and if they aren’t looked after many will jump ship.
@JohnnyMind ah man, how good is that feeling when you discover that the dungeon under lookout landing keeps going and going and going? Was one of my fav moments for sure. I just finished the game up. The ending is immense you are in for a treat!
I’ve been on paternity leave these last few weeks and now that I’ve settled into a routine with our new addition it has afforded me some time to finally finish TOTK. I’ve been playing that and only that since May. What an all timer of a game.
Now I can pick up my backlog of Persona 5R, Digimon Survive, F-Zero 99, Advance Wars Remake, Spider-Man MM before diving into the latest Fire Emblem. Happy gaming everyone 🙏
Hear, hear! Thank you for all the amazing content. I just blinked and realised I’ve been reading this site for 10 years, feels like only yesterday when I stumbled upon this community… ❤️
@Mauzuri you know what dude, you have extremely different views to me but fair play, you’re clearly here for a constructive chat where others would turn to aggression instead of justifying them and I think that’s cool. I will let bygones be bygones haha.
The art style is getting lots of hate but im just pleased they are trying something new. I haven’t liked the art style since the main line games jumped to 3D so kinda just numb to their art style choices generally at this point. Regardless looking forward to watching this, I like the idea of a series based around the TCG.
@CactuarDavid looking forward to the wonderful life remake. I have such fond memories of playing that with my friends in my angsty teenage years all night
I just cannot get on board with this lifeless art style. The old skool more anime inspired art style of old harvest moon is just so much cooler / better. I know the only thing about natsume that is the same in 2023 is literally the name, but jus sayin
I really wanted to love the first but just couldn’t truly get into it. I agree with the general sentiment that it was okay/ quite good, but never really grabbed me fully despite some cool sections.
@Iconoclysm sorry I misunderstood. I thought you weren’t aware a remake had come out period but you were implying if a sequel to that occurred. Oh well, was just excited to be excited for you 🥲😅
@GrailUK hard agree, it’s an important nuance. I own both PS5 and a switch. They are in the same market and there can be overlap, but I bought them for different things.
@Ryne-Gaia I hope you had a great birthday, sounds like you have some really thoughtful friends!
I have engage in the backlog, gonna dive into that once I’m done with TOTK. I’m a big fire emblem fan.
I like that you put what anime you are watching in your posts too, I will check them out once I’m done with demon slayer! If you had to pick one from your list for anime, which would you recommend checking out first?
@blindsquarel yeah it’s one of those ones. I keep trying to convince the wife to play co op with me but sadly she isn’t a sim type gal. Alas, we will get there one day!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th July)
I’ve been on holiday this week and have made the most of my analogue pocket.
Just completed Mario tennis on the GBA a few days ago (extremely underrated tennis rpg!)
I also finished Metroid zero mission, which I absolutely loved a few days ago too.
And lastly completed Mario advance 1 this morning!
I’m now on to Fzero gp legend for the rest of the weekend.
Happy gaming all.

@Mauzuri I’m not sure what I’m more offended by, your hatred for the wii u or saying totk is only good because Zelda is in the title 🫣🫣🫣
