There have been rumours circulating for some time now about the existence of a Switch Pro and Switch Lite model.
The Wall Street Journal was the first to report on a possible hardware revision and this was eventually followed by the Japanese business publication Nikkei – revealing one of the new systems would be smaller and cheaper. Then, last month, Chinese gaming accessory maker HonSon listed a number of "Switch Mini" accessories.
Now, there has supposedly been a "Switch Mini accessory" photo leak (thanks, WinFuture). The images of a Switch Mini silicon sleeve come from the European accessory designer and game publisher, Bigben. According to the source, "Mini Switch 2" is written on the red label of the packaging (see above).
The image below is believed to be a render, illustrating what Nintendo's revised hardware would look like in the silicon case.
What do you think about this? Are you expecting Nintendo to announce a Switch Mini in the near future? Tell us below.

It’s happening clearly, at this point it’s the worst kept secret in the world. Just wish they prioritized the Pro over a mini, but I see why they did it.
I also want the pro. But the mini just makes sense financially, at this point. If they push it out just before holidays, I can see it making a killing.
There’s absolutely no use of a smaller switch without it being pocket sized and clamshell design such as the *NEW*3DSXL and 2DSXL
All these rumors are coming, but when, of course? E3 would have been the perfect time for it, but now it seems we must wait for the Fall Direct. If they planned a dual Mini and Pro announcement then it could probably have its own event, but we haven't heard much about a Pro these days...
Me personally i don't care or mind if there is a mini. Because i already own a Switch and i'm not getting rid of it for a mini. Now a pro that's a whole different story.
looks like "mini" to me, not "new".
Isn't it weird @graysoncharles @kepsux that everything is crystal clear except for where it says new or mini?
@BlueRobin04 A lot of times, these smaller/bigger hardware revisons will just be announced out of nowhere.
I am at a loss for words right now.
I am so bored of this.
Hahaha, if that name label at the bottom is actually correct it would be hilarious that this revision would be called "Nintendo Mini Switch" instead of just Nintendo Switch Mini. I don't know, it just sounds funny saying it.
Damn, now I am hoping it is factually named that way.
@SBandy Yes! That's what I should be saying!
No clamshell design no buy !!! Already have 3 Switches, dont need same but bit smaller.
I love the idea of a smaller more portable switch but also hope it would feature performance increases as well. If I have to choose between a small but equally powerful switch and a same size but more powerful switch, I won’t be happy.
It’s like the iPhone stuff now: get a smaller phone which is better for everyday use but it doesn’t have the latest camera, or get a larger phone that you can’t even put in your pocket comfortably but the camera is awesome.
We’ll see! I was very skeptical in the beginning but the more these renders and case and popping up the more I’m scratching my chin and raising an eyebrow.
Also why no d-pad if joycons are not detachable ?
For everyone getting a PS5, Scarlett or PC this is the perfect version.
Make a buck even when they go with the competition,... The price has to be right
Is a Switch mini really that necessary? I think it’s a good size now. In fact, I wouldn’t complain if it was just a tad bit bigger. Hold the “that’s what she said” jokes. Lol.
If the joy cons are unattachable then no thanks
Why does it called Mini ?
Why not Slim / Lite?
Mini size is supposed to be for Smurf. 🤣
Wish it was a Switch Pro instead. I have no need for a smaller budget Switch that does less than the base model that I already own.
I envisioned a model without a screen a tv only version
@GetShulked theres no switch pro happening anytime soon cause any upgrade in specs are going to be saved for switch 2 in 2023-2024 time frame.
@RiasGremory
The 3ds pretty much got one with the *New*3DS. Completely possible for the Switch to receive one at some point as well.
@BacklogBlues @graysoncharles
It does say Mini, you can spot the dot on the first i.
On both of them actually.
@GetShulked nintendo is not dumb to go into the upgrade route like microsoft and sony have plus is would hurt them big time with 3rd party support who gotten use to switch current specs so it be smart for them to save any big upgrade on specs for switch next successor.
Nintendo should just straighten this out. It’s getting silly. Like it’s obviously to keep momentum on the regular switch but it’s become a farce because it’s been leaked everywhere constantly. Kind of shows Nintendo’s hand because they are refusing to announce if officially.
it says Mini Switch 2. Does that mean there may be a regular Switch 2? Aka Switch Pro? Same size but screen size extended over the black borders the current model has?
Given Nintendo’s history with a cheaper or not as many features consoles, they never remove things that make any game incompatible, so not being able to detach the Joy-Cons sound unlikely.
My line of thinking is that a Pro model is quite a ways out, or is the type of upgrade that doesn’t force the developers to do anything differently at all. Minor upgrade to GPU and Processor much like the Xbox one to the S. As far as the Switch Mini is concerned I think they’ll need a few selling points for the unit other than a slightly cheaper msrp. I could see it being marketed with longer battery life and a more efficient processer chip. That way they can keep the skus relatively close in price will justifying the purchase in turn.
Games will look even better on a smaller screen.
The difference between 3DS and 3DS XL was huge, as far as PPI. When you’re dealing with handheld screens, even half an inch diagonally can make a noticeable difference. 540p games would look much closer to 720p, maybe not quite that good but it would bridge the gap. Probably look sharp enough you wouldn’t notice
Im all for it! Basically smaller bezels all around.
Apparently new nvidia chip is more efficient too which means same battery life, but smaller, lighter battery and system.
@JaxonH while true, i would still choose to play on 3ds xl’s larger screen every time.
I would rather have a larger “jaggy” image than a smaller “sharp” image.... but I am getting old haha
If the accessories were already made, I bet the Switch mini will be out later this month. There will be a Direct soon.
The Switch Pro will probably be launched at the end of the year with BotW 2. This game will probably be optimized for Switch Pro, making it a selling point and a launch title like the original Switch. Nintendo seems to like repeating their success strategy.
They went the upgrade route with the New 3DS that had higher specs than the original 3DS and even games that could only be played on it @RiasGremory. And plus a pro could just have things like more internal memory for saves and downloads and two microsd card slots and an OLED screen and better battery which wouldn't affect the specs at all.
@SBandy simple don't read the articles then
A Switch Mini as pictured still makes no sense. But I guess there's more clicks to be earned.
If you were to make a non-detachable-joy-con version (i.e. a non-switch Switch), the screen can't go smaller, so you'd go clam-shell to minimise its footprint, and have the bonus of protecting the screen for little kiddies and the clumsy amongst us.
And I have to remember to stop clicking on these non-stories...
What gets me on this one is the render of it on the Switch shows the Switch 'Mini' with buttons on the left instead of a dpad. It doesn't make sense to me to do this with non-detachable Joycons.
would love to have a switch mini, i barely use a tv anymore and having a nice switch to keep for myself would be great
@Bondi_Surfer No need for the screen to be smaller. Get rid of the crazy big bezels (They bigger than the VITA had) and you almost as tall as a VITA.
That is why the comand button on the left hand side is so near the bottom of the screen opening
Didn’t the “leak” from another accessory maker from a week or two ago have a D Pad instead of buttons?
Because I’m thinking that at this point the accessory makers are just assuming that there’ll be a Switch mini and designing what they think it’ll look like.
I'm still doubtful about these leaks and rumors. I can't see wht Nintendo would need to release a mini version when the current model is selling so well.
I mean I'm sure Nintendos R&D teams are always working in new hardware but wouldnt they have anounced it at E3 if it was happening this year.
LOL, you guys just don't quit with the rumors do you?
@BacklogBlues
I say this with all possible respect I can, but you guys are dreaming with this Pro model stuff. The actual reports suggest a modest upgrade at the same exact price of the current model ($300), meant to replace the current model as an updated design, i.e. little better battery life, slightly more storage (maybe), modest improvement in chip efficiency to achieve that better battery life.
There is no evidence for an actual “pro” model, and even if there was, at best it would be like New 3DS. We’re not getting OLED screens or double memory card slots. These are just wish list items from people imagining things they want.
@JaxonH Wrong because the Wall Street Journal confirmed a PRO model that claims 4K docked and 1080p undocked. Check your facts buddy.
It bothers me that what looks like the skin in the box, with 2 circles at the top and a circle and t at the bottom, doesn't match the picture ON the box, where there is 1 circle and 1 t on each end. How do you make a picture on the box not match what's in the box?
I think the Switch Mini is coming this holiday, and this may even be real, but the picture not matching the item bothers me.
The 2 is intriguing. But like @JaxonH says, it's more likely a DS Lite 2, not a New 3DS 2. Baby steps. Anybody remember when the Wii Family Edition came out and Nintendo never actually called it that in public, just dropped Gamecube support? I swear half of the people commenting on this website now don't know the history of Nintendo more than 3 years back. The other half know who you are, and I know who you are.
@BacklogBlues that wasnt was shulked stated he was referring more powerful specs which i stated it wont happen till switch successor.
yawns
more rumours that l idc about anymore because l always hear the same rumours.
@Nin10Doe its not going to be 4k. It would require a system 4-8 times more powerful to display current games at 4k.
Current hardware seems to have difficulty with 720p on most titles.
@RadicalThe_Tay Remember that time they released a 2DS with no circle pad an no NFC support? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
@Nin10Doe "Check your facts buddy."
If you're going to be throwing around words like "facts" you should have some links to back them up. Early rumours did mention a 1080p screen but I haven't seen 4k mentioned anywhere in the WSJ or anybody discussing what was in those articles, except to say 4k isn't likely.
I wish the darn thing would be announced already so the storm of complaints that it wasn't what people wanted can pass that much quicker. But the general model that these accessories suggest is honestly exactly what I predicted in a Mini. I don't know why some people think a Switch Mini is going to be Switch hardware shoved inside an OG 3DS case.
@HobbitGamer when the first 2DS was released, the 3DS at the time didn’t have those features either. When the New 3DS came out, they released a New 2DS with matching features. Also the Amiibo support and C stick were “options” that developers could add as long you could play the entire game without it.
Look at Super Mario Party, you can’t get to the title screen until the joy-cons are detached and the game sees you’re using just one joy-con per person
I'm gonna laugh so hard if these accessories are being made for a non-existent product.
@RiasGremory
Actually that’s exactly what I’m wanting. A *New*3ds type of Switch model rather than stripped away 2ds type of Switch model.
SKULL&Co's last email about he switch grip also mentions prototypes for a mini
@Hazzerboraco not really, the actual product itself seems way more rounder than the current switch
It looks fine for a smaller handheld console. Suspiciously too obvious for it to be Nintendo lol. It does look like it has my two niggles with the og Switch.
My biggest niggle with the design of Switch handheld mode is having buttons so close and directly above the right analogue stick. I have to arc my thumb over it in handheld mode. Whereas it's tolerable, it could be comfier.
A d-pad would have been nice. Buttons, although nice and responsive, are just uncomfortable to roll.
Edit. Not sure if anyone has mentioned, but the picture bottom left on the packaging has 2 d-pad sections. The actual product has a large circle and a smaller circle beneath it. (What's going on there!?!). By the way, is there a word for the cut out shapes on casing???
I'd happily buy a Switch Pro with an OLED display. I hate that my day one PS Vita's screen puts my Switch's screen to shame. Night and day difference. Otherwise, couldn't care less about a minor CPU bump or any of that sort of thing.
A switch pro is an insta buy doe me, mini no not interested
@Nin10Doe link? Cause I’ve never once read that anywhere.
@HobbitGamer Yep. That's what I think as well. These companies want to be the first to have new accessories out there. Because none of these are licensed by Nintendo. These companies follow trends, and 3D print what they think would be the case. Then someone "leaks" the image to the internet, this also happens with images of pre-release iPhones, etc. Most of them aren't real ether.
So yeah, my current view is and remains. False until announced by Nintendo. And I don't think it will happen.
Without a detachable joycon, is it still a Switch if you cannot "switch" it from hand held to table top mode and to docked mode without using a secondary controller? Just call it Gameboy advance 2020.
@premko1
I would say In-game menus would make that impossible. Someone is going to confuse the + button with the D-Pad.
@Danjo
It must be able to. There's no reason for it not to. It just won't come with a dock to drive prices down.
Why would it be called Switch Mini 2? We haven’t had Switch Mini 1 yet!
@HarryHyruleHero They already have a dockless SKU in Japan.
@Danjo GameBoy Ultra
I don't think Nintendo will ever go back to the GameBoy branding, since "Boy" is politically incorrect these days. (sadly)
No detachable joycons but still no traditional D-Pad would be one of the silliest things Nintendo has done.
Nintendo does not need pro...although we would like it..
And the render is not like the case itself. Left side is not alike. Render does not have d-pad but case has round hole... it could be.
There’s no smoke without fire
I'm not interested in a mini, more in a bigger Switch with bigger Joycons like the DeamonXMachina Grips.
But what I like is the hole debate about a mini. Not one news about it sounds real. Even here when it says bigben did this, but the picture on the box is different to the glove you can see.
And why smaller? Are we in 2000 again when every mobile has to be tiny as possible?
Even if the Switch Mini comes out I will not believe in it.
@smithpa01
I will do what I want thanks.
I never detach my joy con (my life is polar opposite to the people in Nintendo's adverts!) so I'll be tempted to pick up this lite version for sure.
The problem, of course, is not knowing when/if a Pro model is getting released... I'd want a Pro day one, but cant justify doing that if I've bought a Lite less than a year previously.
Let's see what the price comes in at... if it's under £200 then it's very tempting.
If they're going to make the Joy-Cons non-detachable then for goodness sake give us a proper d-pad!
Does anyone actually believe anything BigBen says/does? I know I've bought some (probably two) of their products when I was younger and both broke down pretty quickly, even though I've never broken anything that's officially from Nintendo, even as a kid.
Aren't they also the ones who released that broken tennis game, just because they knew they would still cash in on it anyway?
why N being so coy about this, just announce already, god
@jockmahon Because it doesn't exist. That's why/
I'm bored of these rumours now.
It's Groundhog day again! This looks like an early mockup or fake. The two circles on the left side of the "glove" in the top picture give it away.
Is there any chance at all that the Switch Mini actually IS the Switch Pro? Are we at a point here where the console could be reduced in size but also have an increase in power? Unlikely I know, but...Moore's Law yada yada.
Needs to either be clamshell or have a sturdy snap on screen cover incorporated into the design. While /I'm/ fine without either of those, I do know several people who haven't bought a Switch because they're freaked out by the open screen design. It's a dealbreaker for them.
@Nin10Doe
Check MY facts? You need to check yours. Or provide a link cause I don't think anyone has heard of reports of "4k". As I said, wish list from people's imagination.
Bloomberg clarified (cited from Poygon):
In addition to the cheaper Switch, Nintendo is also planning a “modest upgrade” for the existing model sometime this year, Bloomberg said, but specified that a “more powerful version” is not in development.
Furthermore, other reports have come out clarifying it is NOT a pro model, it's a replacement for the current model. Reports state is is NOT like Sony's PS Pro, but more akin to New 3DS, a "modest upgrade".
But you go right on ahead and play the fool all you want. Yep, its gonna have 4k, OLED, multiple SD slots, I even hear it'll have raytracing s/
My biggest fear with a mini like this is stick drift. At least Joy-con are easy to fix with replacement sticks. Opening up the whole device is surely more risky. Hope the design is more durable.
A Switch Mini makes totally sense for the release of Pokémon Sword & Shield. Those games are primarily made with handheld mode in mind and with the idea that people should easily bring their Switch along to battle and trade with friends.
These are hardly rumors anymore, they need a Switch Mini to properly sell Pokémon.
If the Joycons don't separate from the system, get a d-pad on that thing!
I would say a lower priced kid friendly model is definitely coming soon, primarily due to Pokemon’s imminent release. Even without all the accessory leaks it’s easy to see why they’d release it this year.
@Nin10Doe
A report of rumours in a newspaper is not “facts”. A Switch Pro, or a Switch Mini, is a “fact” when Nintendo announce it.
@frabbit
I can’t see it. Their goal will be to get the price of the Unit down and make it more durable to sell it to kids (and their parents).
@technotreegrass if they are coming out with a hardware revision it will never be good enough for this lot. If it’s a mini model it will either be too small or too big, and if it’s a so-called “pro” it will never have enough power for them.
@Nintendoforlife they need a cheaper system for pokemon
@rjejr
IF the product is real, I'd say that the larger circle at the top is for some sort of circular D-Pad... (or the circular opening works better for a standard D-Pad). It would make sense, considering that the Joy-Con aren't removable (are they still Joy-Con then, I wonder?). They probably just didn't update the render (yet).
And I am almost completely, utterly and 99,99% certain that Nin10Doe wasn't being serious and was just inb4ing. Didn't think that some of the smarter residents would jump on that... ^_^' Strange day.
Why do they need a cheaper system for Pokemon? Parents spend more money on phones for their children.
@SBandy i was just pointing out that if you are sick of hearing about this it might be better to not read the articles about it it's entirely up to you what you do just a suggestion
@JunkRabbit SErious or not, nobody should use the word "facts" w/o also saying "fake news", and nobody should ever use the word "buddy" unless they are actually buddies with the person. And probably really nto even then.
And I was talking about that big "render" at the bottom of the page being different, I was talking about the silicone sleeve inside the box and the picture of the silicone sleeve on the box being different. That doesn't make any sense. Unless the people making the sleeve and the box really had no idea what the Mini looks like so they were just trying to cover all their bases. In which case this really is fake news.
@Sakura I have had four controllers since launch. All drift has been fixable via calibration and cleaning. What are you doing to them?
I will buy one for traveling and a Pro for at home.
The regular switch can go to my kid.
@JaxonH If they can get rid of the obnoxious bezels that will be enough of an upgrade. The switch looks like a tablet from 2010-2012.
While it’s fairly obvious that these companies are preparing for a real product, these designs are only tentative mock-ups that aren’t even supposed to represent the final product ~
@GrantM3 but how would you clamshell something that is 75% screen? Wouldn't it look like a large 3DS with an empty bottom half.
@Mr_Horizon Look at the GBA SP.
@GrantM3 Price. No joycons and no dock could easily shave off $100. Also great for kids.
@Galarian_Lassie I think this might be exactly what is happening.
@Starkiller987 My impression is that it won't be but it will be dockable.
Clearly something is coming and it looks like a reduced version rather than a pro version. It also looks like this is a one piece unit which brings the question of why there is not a d-Pad on the left portion of the unit. In any case, my son got his own Switch last weekend for awesome school marks and he is super happy with it.
If the joycons are not detachable, then that means you will have to send your whole game system in to be fixed every time your controllers start getting the drift syndrome. No thanks!
If this is evidence, then go and buy this "accessory" Nintendo Life, and expect it to never arrive. Chinese companies always do this crap, when there's speculation that something "new" is coming, and they do mock ups like this. I'm seriously considering following other website for actual Nintendo news, not this BS.
If this is real, Nintendo is pulling a 2DS - smaller, more durable, cheaper. It'll be firmly aimed at children and parents and it'll sell like crazy. If you find yourself saying, "I don't want/need a smaller switch, I wish they'd make a more powerful system," then this product is not intended for you. Sometimes it's hard to recognize when we're not the target audience, or that a business can be successful selling products to people who have different needs than our personal preferences.
As for a Pro - I don't think there's any chance. New regular size switches might use the new chips, and they might have a slight form-factor redesign, but the power increase will be minimal if any. MORE POWER just isn't how Nintendo does business, and I think they'll try to milk the current hardware for a few more years at least.
Something tells me this sleeve isn't actually going to fit on anything. The suggested design here doesn't really match anything I would expect fits the business criteria the Switch Mini needs to address. Specifically, ruggedness for a younger audience, and more portability for a Japan audience. This Switch Mini looks more like just a fan made shrinkage of a normal Switch. (Unless this is for the updated Switch normal model - but then it doesn't have Joycons, which we can be sure they're not abandoning tabletop mode.)
@JaxonH I still expect an upgraded screen in the next model. The screen on the current model is pretty so-so, and generally Nintendo iterates on their displays with their streamlined SKUs (new 3DS XL was a massive upgrade, DSi had a better screen, etc. Not OLED (way too pricy), but I do expect a better screen hopefully with higher brightness. Sunlight remains Nintenodo's weakness to phones, and it would be an easy fix if they can swing the economics/power draw.
Either way, they'll find some hook to make us early adopters "need" the newer model........they always do.......
I see "Mini Switch 2", where is Mini Switch 1?
Mini Switch 2??
Where is the Mini Switch 1? Heck, where is the Switch 2?
@Cotillion You're assuming those rumors are factual, but it's actually still very possible it indeed will have detachable ones. Still, I'm thinking this is just a mockup using the current Switch as its model.
Not every Switch Mini accessory needs to be reported on since not all of those accessories may come from a product manufacturer with actual insider knowledge about the Switch Mini...
Especially when the accessory is supposedly designed for the "Mini Switch 2".
@StevenG Just using one set of Joy-con, not spreading use over 4 controllers. Using them as normal for playing games normally. Only the left has drift, which I have fixed by replacing the stick. It's a known design fault. The material used to provide contact so the stick can track the player's movement wears away with normal use.
@rjejr I suggest you start looking closer at the product packages you buy. It's in fact extremely common for art on a package to differ from the product. Designs often go through revisions and the package designs are often based on early prototypes. Besides, the image on the box isn't even an actual photo, it's obviously just a concept render that could never possibly be the final product because it lacks holes for the speakers.
@Sakura I don't spread the use out. I bought one extra set and usually use the ones it came with.
I have yet to see one I could not fix with cleaning and calibration. I seriously doubt you are wearing away the contact. It is just getting dirty and oxidized, use some contact cleaner.
@thatawesomedude Well if I start looking closer then I won't buy anything that doesn't match so better that I don't. 😝
Plus, this is an accessory for an item that hasn't even been announced yet, how much of a rush were they in?
@NoxAeturnus Forget more power, just get rid of those huge bezels!
@StevenG Why? Most people don't care about this at all. Especially children, who would be the primary audience of a mini. And the base model is already too big to put in a pocket. The gains of an ultra thin bezel seem like such a small thing to worry about.
@sanderev
Sounds cool... Hoping that gets a western release...
@NoxAeturnus Because either the device can be smaller or I can get more display.
Most people care a lot about bezels. Look at phones for an example of this.
The mini has decent bezels, I mean the base model. Adding a couple inches to the display is not a small thing.
@StevenG I think perhaps that 4 Joy-con may not be a representative sample of the millions made? If yours are already showing some signs, enough to warrant calibration, then you may find a problem later. That's how mine started. Calibration worked for me for a while, but in the end, a replacement stick was the only solution. Play time could also be a factor in how quickly they degrade. I do play a lot. About 3000 hours before the drift became intolerable. I don't know how good that is, but not had a problem with any other controller ever and I've been gaming a long while now. The sticks are, at least, easy to replace.
@rjejr Well the original Switch Mini rumours had a release date of June 28th. Maybe that rumour was true and then Nintendo delayed it when they delayed Animal Crossing, that would explain why we're seeing so many Switch Mini accessories around now.
So the render on the box isn’t the same as the actual product, it has two circles on the left side and not a cross for the buttons. I’m calling this fake!!
@Sakura Maybe, but I have fixed more than that. Already? Mine are from launch. You could not get them before that.
There are no magic signs, it's a simple graphite trace, clean it.
CLEAN IT, calibration is for after.
My guess is your 3000 hours of gameplay mean 0 hours of cleaning your home. So lots of dust to get trapped on that trace.
@Grumblevolcano "had a release date of June 28th"
That's the first I've heard of that date, thanks.
Any chance people just assumed the 28th b/c that's the day SMM2 released and it's a game that could go a long way on Switch since they seem they want you to play it in handheld mode? If it was going to launch the 28th even Nintendo would have had to show it at or before E3.
It is a good reason for all the accessories though.
I'm just gonna start making horrible photoshop fakes to get a headline on Nintendolife. :0
right now everyone is just waiting for Nintendo to finally announce the Switch mini this year
@StevenG Thank goodness you are here to tell me everything that is wrong with me!
I'm guessing you have quite a few problems.
@manu0 True that and Animal Crossing would probably kill on a mini
@RiasGremory
I certainly hope we don’t have to wait that long for a Switch 2, or Switch Pro.
So we knew it was coming at some point anyways. WE now have at least five companies making gear for it and yet we still need the " Is this possibly proof " stuff. Let me answer you, yes, yes it is.
@rjejr Here is the link Mr.HurrDurrHurrDurr I know everything. https://www.knowyourmobile.com/games-consoles-2/nintendo-switch-2-release-date-specs/
@JaxonH https://www.knowyourmobile.com/games-consoles-2/nintendo-switch-2-release-date-specs/
@Nin10Doe
Please dont link bogus articles, and read the Bloomberg report for clarification
In addition to the cheaper Switch, Nintendo is also planning a “modest upgrade” for the existing model sometime this year, Bloomberg said, but specified that a “more powerful version” is not in development
Your linked article is claiming a "Switch 2" is releasing, a "Pro" and all kinds of wack stuff, that's exactly the kind of false reporting that misleads people.
The actual source was WSJ, who never used "Switch 2" or Pro" in their report. Only that an "enhanced" version was in the works.
Which was clarified with numerous other reports that said NOOOOO, it's not a "Pro" or "Switch 2", those were bogus assumptions by irresponsible sites. It's a "modest upgrade" akin to New 3DS, nothing more.
But you believe whatever you want.
@JunkRabbit Well this guy is obviously NOT one of the smarter residents but if you want to continue to defend the troll after post #139 well that's your choice. I've got better things to do.
@Nin10Doe From the article you linked to:
"How would 4K gaming work? The current Nintendo Switch is 720p… I agree it needs to be bumped to at least 1080p, but I don’t see how it could leap-frog to 4K without causing problems to the ecosystem on a macro-scale."
@rjejr You asked for a link and now you're whining. Gave you what you asked for. Get a life kid. Go to work or something.
@Sakura Like everyone I have some, however my controllers work fine and I am not wasting my money on replacing perfectly fine controllers.
@Nin10Doe
??? How old are you kid? I feel like I'm talking to someone with the logic of a grade schooler.
Sharing a link doesnt mean jack **** if the information within it is WRONG, and in direct contradiction to the source
@Nin10Doe
@rjejr
Hahaha... ^_^' Wasn't defending him at all, just couldn't believe that anyone could have seriously believed this was true or plausible in any sense of the word (with the only exception of Beavis and Butthead perhaps...), so I assumed that he must be kidding. Sorry. My bad for my utterly naive assessment. I stand corrected and must accept what the world has come to. We're doomed. B&B have left their legacy in the "Internets"...
Also: Now he's calling you "kid"...
@RadicalThe_Tay The current OS allows you to use other controllers and turn off the attached ones, I don't see what that would be an issue.
I'm skeptical about a Switch mini revision too. Unless it's $199, it makes no sense.
@JunkRabbit Lmao! You're trying hard to add to the conversation. Nobody was talking to you in the first place. You want to fit in so bad. Go Away little boy. @JaxonH and who said the link isn't credible, YOU? You're a nobody. So what you say doesn't mean shit either. The nerve of you entitled little brats. "What I say goes and your link is trash" Dumbass!
@Nin10Doe
Oh, behave! Do away with the flattery already. It's just too much. I haven't been called a little boy for, what, at least 35 years... Ahh, those were the days. Sigh. Glad to hear though that my cheer- and youthful spirit still shines through. Thank you, sweet peas, it is lovely chums like you that keep me young!
@Spiders sorry but at 199$ thats the price the switch should drop to, its not worth 299.99 anymore the more powerful version of the ps4 and xbox one x can be had for around that price if you look hard enough my one X with NBA2k19 cost me 299.99 in march...point is with me being able to play both xbox one X and ps4 on a laptop with remote play(whatever xbox calls it) makes the switch even less important....ive been playing division 2 on my surface pro 3 with streaming from xbox. Point is if they dont lower the price point they again will start to lose 3rd party support over time as sales start to slow down....especially when the new systems from sony and ms launch next year....
@Nin10Doe
Its bogus not because "I say", it's bogus because the claims made dont match up with the WSJ source. WHICH ARE THE FACTS. I dont make the facts and neither do you. Your claims are in opposition to THE FACTS. The article makes claims contradictory to THE FACTS. Furthermore, so do you. Nowhere was "4k" mentioned.
Its bedtime kid, take your ass home.
Glad to see Rumorlife does what they do best.
@JaxonH If you'd take the time to actually read the entire page you'd see that is WAS mentioned. But then again you are a know it all. And trust me KID I'm a hell of alot older than you.
@Nin10Doe
You can judge age by behavior. When you act 10 with "lol lol bahahaha lol loser" type remarks, I'm going to struggle to believe you're even past puberty, much less "a hell of a lot older than 35"
@JunkRabbit Yeah, sorry to drag you into this, no offense meant. And to be fair Jax might have started the whole "kid" thing. Jax has always had a way of attracting trolls, I don't think they like his optimism, they always feel the need to drag him down. And I occasionally defend him even though he doesn't need it.
I reported the troll, and myself for feeding the troll (that should be a bannable offense as well) and I need to be banned so I can enjoy my 4th of July weekend getaway, so if you never see this, that's why. 🤣
@Nin10Doe Can we stop this argument please? Like users have said above, a 4K Switch Pro is only a rumour. My contribution to this is that not even a 1080p Switch is likely until Nintendo themselves confirm it.
@Almighty-Koz I get your point, but the current console market is not bearing that out at all. It's not a power-per-dollar value proposition like the PC market.
Switch is the number 1 seller by market worldwide, and when X and Pro hit that pricepoint, the focus will be on the next-gen machines - meanwhile Switch software will still be relevant, and still be the sole entry in dedicated handhelds.
Streaming from your console to your laptop has caveats, especially outside of your personal network, and if the gauntlet Google threw down is anything to go by, the next-gen multi-screen solutions are not going to be direct competition to Switch's use cases.
A lower price mini would mean Switch vanilla doesn't need to drop price, only bundle software to add value.
@JaxonH is it school holidays or something in here? This place seems to be flooded with clowns recently...
I just realized that were believing news from unnamed Chinese companies in Honson and WinFuture about hardware that doesn't exist. If they were officially licensed I’d be convinced. Sorta like that Grinch Leak for Smash Ultimate: if it allegedly came from a printing company that was tied to Nintendo Tell PapGeno’s, I’d would of believed it, but since people were saying it came from a printing company tied to Bandai Namco, it was a dead ringer it was fake.
If Nintendo wanted to release a Portable-only Switch SKU we don’t need all new hardware, just don’t include the Dock, Joy-Con Grip, and HDMI cable and just include a carrying case at $249.99...
