At E3 2019, Nintendo showed off a lot of brand new and previously announced first and third-party titles. To provide a much clearer idea of what's coming out and when, it's now shared a graphic on its social media account, which places each of these upcoming releases in the remaining quarters of this year.
As you'll see below, we have Super Mario Maker 2 arriving towards the end of Q2, the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition in Q3 and to finish off the remainder of the year there's Luigi's Mansion 3, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair and many more delightful releases.
The very end of the above graphic includes some games coming to the Switch in 2020 as well. Next year is already shaping up to be rather exciting with Animal Crossing: New Horizons in March and the release of No More Heroes 3 – a game from Grasshopper Manufacture that's been a long time coming.
What games are you most excited about now that this year's E3 is over? Tell us down in the comments.

My poor wallet... Curse you Nintendo
Can't wait to be all over... basically half of those games. I 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 need to finish my Switch backlog though D:
Anyone know what happened to Pikmin 4?
Missing Bulletstorm and a few others too
Wow, that's a hell of a Q3! Too many games for me to keep up with.
(screams of pain)
My Switch buy list from July - December 2019 :
1. Dragon Quest Builders 2
2. Pokemon Sword
3. Luigi Mansion 3
4. New Super Lucky Tale
5. (Probably if this game have physical release) FF VIII Remastered
Still haven't bought these Switch games :
1. LABO Toy Cons 03
2. FF XII TZA
3. Crash Bandicoot NSane Trilogy
4. Earthlock (SRG)
5. 99 Vidas (LRG)
Real Myst? That wasn't mentioned before. The original was an amazing experience, I wonder if this is going to be as good?
@Anti-Matter for no.5, don't count on it.
Damn I'm going to be broke for the rest of the year, but at least I will be entertained lol. So far I count at least 13 games that will be a day 1 buy and that's not including one X/ps4 pro games haha.
Going to get: Astral Chain, DQ XI S, Pokemon Shield
Need to wait for sale / money problem: Luigi's Mansion 3
Will buy at PC: Trials of Mana, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.
Really like a lot though, I'm so broke
If a miracle happens and Witcher III turns out well, it’s a day one! I honestly think that I’m going to have to upgrade my sd card very soon!
Mystery of mysteries why Nintendo isn’t promoting FIFA 20 copy and paste edition this year?
And the worst thing is this graphic is incomplete. E. G. Rune Factory 4 and 5, Atelier Ryza. And I'm sure Nintendo has some surprises left for a winter direct.
Nice diversity of genres represented. My most anticipated games would be (1) Luigi Mansion 3, (2) Zelda Links Awakening, (3) Mario Maker 2.
They could had added these to that list too:
Devil May Cry Remastered
Grandia I & II HD Remastered
Langrisser I & II HD Remastered
Doom Eternal
Star Ocean: First Departure R
Disgaea 4 Complete
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2
Untitled Goose Game
Samurai Shodown
The King of Fighter XV
Metal Slug 8
Neverwinter Nights
Rune Factory 4 HD
Rune Factory 5
Romancing SaGa! 3 HD Remastered
Sega Ages: Virtua Racing
Sega Ages: Wonder Boy in Monster Land
@LavaTwilight Yeah, I noticed that myself, yesterday. I think it was quietly announced the day before Nintendo's E3 Direct. I'm psyched - never played Myst before but have always wanted to, and this remastered/fully first person version is one I've been interested in for a while. Apparently you can switch back and forth from the new visuals to the original pre-rendered artwork. I'm not positive if the game is fully playable in the old style from start to finish, but either way I'm very excited.
@retro_player_22 Does grandia have a release date now. I thought it still has no date?
@presenttense cancelled lol
@Kalmaro Me too, I have say 15 3DS/Wii U games in my backlog with my Switch backlog on 5 ish games. Why I buy games at release I dont know.....
What annoys me is looking up the price of games I have yet still yet to play and now seeing them at 1/3 or half the price I paid for them at release.
The sensible thing to do would be to concentrate on the backlog.... Easier said than done.
Meh only like 5-6 games there but they are some of the best lol
Doom Eternal/Devil May Cry/Bulletstorm and NBA 2k20 don't even make the list.....
That's when you know there is alot of great upcoming games....
This is the best third party support Nintendo has had in years.
@retro_player_22 And also God Eater 3. Thats one of my most anticipated on the third party front.
And a single tear rolled down my Wii U’s gamepad.
@tech7 GungHo did bring info on the collection being that it would be based on the PlayStation version but with some features pull from the Saturn game, that it is a Switch exclusive, and that both games won't be just ports of the older titles. Still they had announced no release date as it still just a 2019 release. Here's some info from other sites that got a chance to ask GungHo about this collection:
https://www.rpgsite.net/feature/8611-grandia-hd-collection-meeting-with-gungho-at-e3-2019-and-hands-on-impressions
https://gematsu.com/2019/06/grandia-hd-collection-e3-2019-gameplay-screenshots-and-information-tidbits
While it's good news that it's coming, the confirmation that it's going to be just a digital only release doesn't bold well to me as I really want these titles in physical form. Let's hope Limited Run or Play-Asia do something about these too cause having only digital versions of these are just not right.
@Kalmaro and just wait when they announce the next switch. rumours going around now.. switch mini and upgrade switch console. You better save up before buying those games for the moment
I def. like the immediacy of how Nintendo handled the E³. It is way better than other showcases of a promise next year. Though granted, they can afford that, as they cultivated the direct for years and even if they would not sweep the floor, people know that there can be an announcement coming in soon ;p.
Oh my Geezus. I want nearly all of these but I can’t afford that many. Gonna have to do some hard prioritising.
Picking up Luigi's Mansion 3, Spyro, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Legends of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Astral Chain, Cadence of Hyrule, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Pokemon Sword and Shield, Yooka-Laylee, No More Heroes III and Trial of Mana.
@LavaTwilight it is basically a graphically enhanced version of the original game. Well worth picking up if you are a fan of the series. I will be, even though I have lost count of how many copies I have!
That's just insane, SO many games coming.
@BoilerBroJoe you are in for a treat. I am a huge fan of the whole series, puzzling at its very best!
@retro_player_22 Mate, has Langrisser been confirmed for the west yet? I am keeping my eyes peeled but haven't seen anything
Nintendo might as well own my bank account damn so many games I want to get
I'll pick up a couple, I'd rather preorder BOTW2
So.... many...... games......
What a fantastic year for Nintendo, and 2020 is shaping up to be just as great!
RIP my wallet in Q3 and Q4.
Don't forget Bloodstained Ritual of the Night at the end of June!
@retro_player_22 Thanks for the info.
It is indeed unfortunate that no physical release is planned. I'm still glad that the grandia collection is coming. At least we got a physical release for the mana collection.
Luigi's Mansion 3 -100% and maybe Links Awakening but other than that there's nothing really there that would rather play on Switch over PS4. If you haven't played Witcher or Alien Isolation yet definitely give both a shot.
Looking forward to Links Awakening and Pokémon Shield the most.
Hide my money?! Am I detecting sarcasm?!
Literally Link's Awakening and Witcher 3 for me. Pokemon is a possibility, if it proves to be something new and innovative. Luigi's Mansion 3 will be once it's on sale, in 2020 no doubt since it's clearly not coming until deep into Q4.
The rest is a great big stonking pile of mediocrity and games I've played before - played before and not really wanting to revisit, like Ni No Kuni... great game, loved it. Playing it again? Nope!
2019 for me is Wargroove, Yoshi, Link's Awakening and Witcher 3. I'm not renewing my online subscription in September either.
I thought 2018 was bad... but I spent 7 times as much money on games last year versus 2019 - and an embarrassingly larger amount in 2017, which I'd rather not say!!
I can't be the only one... so Nintendo's gonna be hurting for sure.
2020 must be better.
Ni no kuni. Just so wanting to play it
I’ve heard good things about Alien Isolation I hope it turns out well. Last Aliens game I played was Trilogy on the Saturn!
Aaah... the irony of having a job for buying every game you want, but not having the time because of the job.
Nintendo is making me having an insane backlog... And I am loving it
@Aozz101x I want to pre-order Spyro but need to see some lengthy footage first.
@PACO_PEREZ Exactly, I remember having to save up for months to buy a N64 with Banjo Kazzoie and another 6 weeks to get Goldeneye then Yoshi's Story. Now I buy games on a whim but can't play them because of work....
Oh My Geezus! I want most of these but can’t afford, neither have time for that many. Some hard prioritising coming up
You said: Next year is already shaping up to be rather exciting with Animal Crossing: New Horizons in March.....
If Nintendo held back a few more games from this year then 2020 would be shaping up even better. 😁
Where is Town?
Missing Crash Team Racing, Bloodstained, and Hollow Knight Silksong.
What a great year.
Sweet Christmas, my poor wallet.
There is at least a dozen games I plan on buying (and that's not counting games that weren't shown at E3 IE Town, and whatever else might be announced before years end). I plan on picking up the following games at some point or another...
Super Mario Maker 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Pokemon S/S, Mario & Sonic Olympic Games, Luigi's Mansion 3, Yooka-Laylee: The Impossible Lair, New Super Luckys Tale, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Minecraft Dungeons
^^ Just crazy, but they all look like they could be fun games.
Link's Awakening and Fire Emblem are it probably for me.
@zool Exactly where is Town?? Cancelled? I hope not.... btw its great to see Zool, memories
Would be nice if they separated or made 'old games' logo's a little smaller. They're not a stand out for many, I feel it would be a bit more beneficial for the brand new "play 'em here first" titles to be more on display than a game most people played like 5+ years ago.
Not that I don't buy rereleases, I've probably got more time spent on old rereleased games than actual Switch exclusives (possibly because there's not that many currently out I had an interest in), but I never thought "OH MY GOD! DRAGONS DOGMA...YET AGAIN! SWITCH IS AWESOME!" or "BLOW MY LOVE LENGTH, I FINALLY HAVE THE CHANCE TO PLAY RESIDENT EVIL 4!".
Fire Emblem Three Houses and Luigi's Mansion 3 are the types of games I feel should be prominently displayed, not Alien Isolation and Contra...Though to be fair, I may have initially missed Fire Emblem's logo seeing as "bland black text with small subtitle below" is the hip cool trend.
From too few games to too many! Good problem to have. Going to be choosy because of my backlog but there's several I'll pick up whether I'm caught up or not, particularly the Zelda games, Mario Maker 2, Luigi's Mansion, and maybe Myst.
@presenttense Headline of a future Nintendo Direct. In my view it could be finished but 2020 might be good to release it... (Lesser third party support then).
Me to my wallet:
There’s much mire I want this year than last years outlook. Better get a bigger micro as card soon to have room for everything!
Definitely:
1. Astral Chain
2. FE Three Houses
3. Luigi's Mansion 3
4. Panzer Dragoon
5. No More Heroes 3
Possibly:
6. Link's Awakening
7. Oninaki
8. Daemon X Machina
9. DQ XI
10. Ultimate Alliance 3
That is if I find it in myself to finally move on from Sekiro I hope Astral Chain can break the curse of everything else feeling dull and underwhelming! ^^
@nocdaes To each his own, but surely you know you're in the minority. So many people here have already talked about how much their wallets are screaming and how they won't have time for all the things they want from this list.
It's legit to not be excited if you're the kind of gamer who has already played every one of the ports and remakes on the schedule, but the average person will find at least one or two older titles here that they missed the first time around, would like to have in a portable format, or just loved so much they want them again. I really don't think Nintendo is hurting that much with this slate.
Disappointed no Metroid update.
MUA 3, Pokémon Sword, Trials of Mana, DQXI, Luigi’s Mansion 3, New Super Luckys Tale and Astral Chain are must haves for me. Might pick up Animal Crossing at some point but I’m not sure if I’d be into it since I haven’t touched the series yet
@JasmineDragon Completely agree 👍
And that doesn't even count whatever amount of hidden indie gems that will come out.
Uh, i really want the new animal crossing right now :<
11 games I will get day one or close to (end of September has too damm many great games!!) With 4 maybes and this list is missing good games confirmed and inbet some other AAA will be yet announced and released...
@Dahn_ @Balta666 I was just going to say I would not be surprised if somewhere in this slate, we get a surprise indie or AAA title not announced and/or we did not expect
Meh. I’m usually an upbeat gamer but this E3 was dull. Yes I’m happy about Witcher and AC dribble . Otherwise no real surprises.
I think all hame companies should say nothing all year and then make E3 MASSIVE !
Watch Luigi’s Mansion get delayed
@retro_player_22
I’m really excited for Baldur’s Gate too! I never played a Star Ocean game, but my brother has and liked it so I’m gonna pick that game up too.
@BANJO and Banjo
@presenttense it went on a mission to colonise Pluto... it’ll be released when it gets back
Is Hat in Time still coming to the Switch?
@Tipehtfomottob As far as I know, yes, there just hasn't been any news on the development.
@presenttense I'm seriously wondering if it was actually the 3DS "Hey Pikmin!" game all along and there was just some confusion in communication when we were told it wasn't the Pikmin 4 that was in development. Didn't they say "Pikmin 4 is basically finished" years ago?
Such an awesome list of games. There’s a whole bunch I’d like to add to my collection. My top games by tier.
Tier 1: (100% buying)
Luigi’s Mansion 3
DQXI S
Pokémon Sword & Shield
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Tier 2: (Want)
DQ Builders 2
Astral Chain
Link’s Awakening
SMM2
FE: Three Houses
Ni No Kuni
Spyro
Witcher 3
Tier 3 (Maybe get to eventually or on sale)
FF8
Mana Collection
Trials of Mana
No More Heroes 3
Minecraft Dungeons
Wolfenstein: Youngblood
Dauntless
RE: 5 & 6
Alien Isolation
Doom Eternal
If only I had more time & more money!
My wallet needs to learn Muay Thai before September, to protect itself from me!
And yet Nintendo shares utterly tanked. This is why investors and the stock community are both stupid, and human refuse.
I'll laugh in their face when we see how the Switch continues to fly off the shelves well into 2020 with this AWESOME torrent of games!
@GrailUK Haven't heard anything about Langrisser yet, would had expected the game to had a release date at E3 as well but nothing has been mention yet. Hopefully it will be announce at a future Nintendo Direct.
What? When did FFVIII got announced?
Simply put, this is a biggest crossover in gaming history. Once again, worlds will collide
Looks like I'll be getting Mario Maker 2, FE 3 Houses, Astral Chain, Link's Awakening, Pokemon Sword, and Luigi's Mansion 3.
RIP Wallet.
So if I go work for Nintendo would they pay me in games? Surely that would be cheaper that the horror that is about to befall my bank account...
I'll be picking up Super Mario Maker 2, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Astral Chain, Link's Awakening, Luigi's Mansion 3, Pokemon Shield, DOOM Eternal, Borderlands 3, and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy. I'll be keeping an eye on the new Star Wars game too. My wallet feels violated.
Gah, my wallet is screaming in pain.
FE3H, Link's Awakening, Pkmn Sword, Astral Chain, Spuro, Oninaki, Luigi's Mansion 3 and so many more....
@presenttense Pikwho?
Personally on this list, I'm most excited about Link's Awakening, the Spyro trilogy and Animal Crossing.
Definitely getting Dragon Quest, Ni no Kuni, pokemon and Astral Chain, probably The Last Remnant and Fire Emblem after i clear my backlog a bit.
And the one i am most excited about is Disgaea 4
I must admit second half of 2019 looks amazing.
@FarkyValentine It just restarted development, do you really expect info that soon?
@presenttense It wasn't officially announced, but MiyamotI confirmed that it was being worked on in 2015. I think either last year or in 2017 Miyamoto said that Pikmin 4 was coming along nicely, and that its production was slowly moving up Nintendos list of priorities. They could have pulled a Metroid Prime 4 and have restarted the project from The one being developed during the WiiU era. Perhaps it's going to be a fully open world Pikmin, and they've been trying to find a way to properly structure it with the Pikmin gameplay?
Switch has no games. Nintendoomed!!!
Seriously though, thats a fantastic line-up of games for the rest of the year and beyond.
I'll definitely be snagging Mario Maker 2, Bloodstained (not listed but will get if it turns out good), Dragonquest Builders 2, Fire Emblem, Zelda Links Awakening, Witcher 3, Dark Crystal, Mana Collection (physical), Astral Chain, Luigis Mansion, DragonQuest XI, Pokemon SS, Yooka-Laylee and without doubt PANZER DRAGOON, and that's just off the top of my head.
Trials of Mana and Gods and Monsters for sure next year.
Probably some more game I cant think of right now like Grandia Collection and more.
Not to mention two new Smash Bros characters to fit in as well.
Go Nintendo! Go Switch!
And that’s not even all of them! Where’s CTR on this list?
Surprised Bloodstained isn't on there.
@Alucard83 I'm a both excited and terrified.
Pfff 8 games in Q3 and 8 in Q4 i have to have...No more money: wallet strikes back.
@BANJO No time to finish my backlog, too busy buying games!
I know that bulletstorm & Friday the 13th are coming soon.
Remember when people would say things like "The Switch doesn't have any games" and all that jazz? Man....the developers are hitting their groove now. I still think 2020 will be a huge year, too. Developers back in 2017 saw how huge the Switch was and likely started developing games in early 2018.
My only critique would be the balance between 1st half and 2nd half. Two years in a row the first 6 months were pretty bare and then the last 6 months overflowing. A little balance would be nice for my wallet! haha
Bayonetta 3 was one I really wanted to see a trailer for. Not that the chart doesn't have excellent offerings.
@Nintendofan83 The problem is that NEW titles are not so regular as other consoles except Nintendo franchises of course. Switch has many ports / remakes from third parties.
That’s so many games! 😱 R.I.P. my poor wallet...skimming the list, I already know I’m going to get Mario Maker 2, Fire Emblem, Oninaki, Link’s Awakening, Ni No Kuni, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Super Lucky’s Tale, Pokemon and Animal Crossing, plus Crash Team Racing, Trine 4, Rune Factory 4S, Rune Factory 5 and Doraemon Story of Seasons, which aren’t even on it! And these are just the ones on my day-one list...I should probably just quit my job and lock myself in my house playing games all day to keep up. 😝
The Switch has really become the retro gaming fan's system of choice now. So many compilations and re-masters of classic games. They're a perfect fit, as Nintendo's brand new titles usually have the same old school sensibilities.
There is of course a large Metroid shaped hole in the line-up this year, and I'd argue there isn't any one big stand out AAA first party game to replace it either. Fire Emblem looks very weak so far unfortunately with decidedly sub AAA production values. I guess you could kind of count Pokemon, but that isn't first party.
Definitely getting: Super Mario Maker 2, Luigi's Mansion 3, Cadence of Hyrule
Probably getting: My Friend Pedro, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Ni No Kuni, Witcher 3
Maybe getting: Astral Chain, No More Heroes 3, Gods & Monsters, Link's Awakening, Spyro, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing
Poor wallet-san. And there's way more indie titles coming than this lists implies. Plus probably a Nintendo Direct or 2 before the year is over.
I envy people who have so much time to play so many games. I mean I've got to juggle a wife and 2 kids. It's not easy but somehow I manage to squeeze in 8hours of computer games a day. I envy those who can do more.
Seriously though, Mario Maker 2 is the only game I need until Animal Crossing. I'll get Myst, depending on price.
@BoilerBroJoe @CairiB @frogopus Thanks, I'll see about price before I get it. From what I remember it was a pretty difficult game, made at a time when you had to pay $15 or so for any kind of help guide. No 'hey listen' or anything like that.
I never thought there would be an official Stranger Things 3 game.
To be honest, I'm excited to see how that will unfold within the community.
Nintendo are absolutely killing it!!
@LavaTwilight 8 hours a day with 2 kids wow!
@sid77 haha I was paraphrasing Homer Simpson. I'm not THAT neglectful now.
someone should make a sticker sheet of all of those...
make it scratch n sniff
@retro_player_22
I got a big grin after seeing Baldurs Gate I&II on your list. And, Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment are on the way too.
FINAL FANTASY 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@FarkyValentine was that ever on the cards, when they restarted the project a few months ago? I’d reset your expectations for next e3 at best. Knowing Nintendo they’ll not rush this after the issues around this game.
@retro_player_22
Great even more games to spend my money on. Still just hope they don't get released in September as that month already going to give me headaches in regards what to buy.
@elpardo1984 who knows... It's disappointing nonetheless. We're a couple years in now with no guarantee Metroid will ever land on Switch.
They completely forgot to put Wolfenstein Youngblood and DOOM Eternal, guess they're just looking at everything showcased at their E3 presentation.
@BANJO 1st World problems! .
@KIRO It was dull because Sony gave it a skip, lol...no ?.
more 2020 games could be Bayonetta 3 likely going to be a 2020 release, maybe the Breath of the Wild sequel, Luigis Mansion could be delayed to next year, Town likely delayed, a new 2D Metroid, another Pokemon game and maybe Pikmin man 2020 could be another great year for the Nintendo Switch
Oh, my poor aching wallet.....
@presenttense
Maybe Pikmin 4 is the 3ds game....
Impressive list and missing quite a lot too. Unusual to see a Nintendo system with such strong third-party support, but very welcome.
Wonder whats happening with Shin Megami Tensei V?
I count at least 13 games I'm interested in...and it's missing a few games.
My 2019 Switch game buying list:
Raiden V: Director's Cut - July 25th
New Super Lucky's Tale - 3rd Quarter
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - Sept 20th
Alien: Isolation - 4th Quarter
Luigi's Mansion 3 - 4th Quarter
Night in the Woods - 4th Quarter
Doom: Eternal - Nov 22nd
Panzer Dragoon is a day-one buy for me! I hope Panzer Dragoon Saga is next!
Did not even include Silksong, really Ninty?
14 games just for Nintendo Switch just from this list and not including nindies to come.
That's a lot of games for a system in a year. Luckily XBone and PS4 are slowly going to transition of next gen.
Wow...there are some very interessting titles coming up. Right now I am very tempted getting Fire Emblem, Ni No kuni, Dragon Quest XI, Lin's Awakening, the sinking City, FF 8 and (of course) Trials of Mana.
Panzer Dragoon! Finally!
@JEM Yes you're right! Most likely it's a mistake, since DOOM was highlighted in the presentation, and they even invited Pete Hines from Bethesda to speak about DOOM and Wolfenstein in the Nintendo Power Podcast! The guy who did the image above is gonna go straight to Bowser's office to be "carefully" instructed not to do the same mistake again.
My wallet will be full because none of these games are the least but appealing to me.
