If you have fond memories of the Elite Beat Agents or are yet to discover the delights of this male cheerleader series which was localised in 2006, the latest 'Did You Know Gaming?' video by Nintendo Life contributor Liam Robertson is definitely worth a watch.
Over roughly half an hour, Robertson investigates the entire history of the series – from the game's original Japanese Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan concept up to the sadly cancelled sequels. Please take a look. Only time will tell if the future will bring us more rhythmic cheerleading shenanigans, or if like other cult-classic Nintendo franchises these Agents have seen the last of their beats.
Are you a fan of this zany DS outing? Would you like to see some more elite beatings on your Switch? Tell us below.

I'd love to see more, but it's probably never going to happen
Which is too bad because the game was so much fun!
I'm guessing it's a slow news day today.
Having played Cytus Alpha on the Switch, I worry that the different type of touch controls (finger over stylus) would be ill-fitting for the nostalgia of the old mechanics. Additionally, you couldn't really translate it effectively into a button-driven game for television play. That's my feelings, anyways. Sadly, it's a series that won't see revival, but it was a blast in its time.
This series is fantastic.
Sad over the beat agents, but I would be downright heart broken if we don't get a new Rhythm heaven.
I liked the “you’re the inspiration” song and video from it.
I remember my first experience with EBA. I used to visit GameStop every day during my lunch break and one day I decided to check out what demos were available on the DS Download Station. I downloaded the EBA demo to check out after work, and that afternoon I was mesmerized. I made absolutely sure to keep my DS charged so I could keep playing the demo until the next day when I'd be able to buy it since demos on the DS went away if you turned it off.
I also remember the first song that I failed. You're The Inspiration. Everything had been so upbeat and action packed that I wasn't ready for the emotional curve ball of a little girl who's dad died keeping his memory alive. I was so overwhelmed that I couldn't see the screen my eyes were so watery. I had to take a couple minutes before I was ready to try again. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the game.
EBA is one of my top three favorite DS games, with the other two being Ouendan 1 & 2. As soon as I found out about the Ouendan games I imported them and absolutely loved them even with the language barrier. I was sad that it only ever went as far as those three games, but I'm glad that demo a try, and even now I still get the urge to revisit them from time to time.
I LOVE this game along with both Ouendan games (which I STUPIDLY sold). I wish they’d make a new one, but it would work much better on 3DS, so not happening.
@AG_Awesome The tree shape you had to make got me in the feels... Or was it a star, it's been years.
I adored Ouendan 2
Killer game series.
Loved this series so much. So, so sad that it's no longer being made. </3
That's so funny, I was literally just playing Elite Beat Agents a few days ago. "Canned Hest" on Divas.
Would have loved a sequel on 3DS,and now I hope for one on Switch.
there's a fan game for pc(osu!) and mobile(opsu!) that kinda keeps the game alive.
it doesn't have any dancing agents and most songs don't have a video, but it has the same gameplay and a huge number of songs to choose from.
The original Ouendan was a wonderful little game. Fantastic soundtrack, great art style, really fun game. The sequel really wasn't as good, simply because the soundtrack wasn't as catchy.
As for the Westernised versions... devoid of soul, catchy tunes, and character. A shell of a game.
Love Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan but I lost my copy years ago.
I loved Osu Tatakae Ouendan and Morty Neketsu!
@ramu-chan simply because the Fullmetal Alchemist opening was the final song made the first better. Lol
