Would have backed it if it wasn't $18 + $30 shipping to Canada. Get real. I'll never need to replace the connector often enough to justify paying that much more to get one of these, and I currently have a new connector anyway.
I love how The Best Cyber Monday Deals begins with the Super Mario 3D World Wii U bundle for regular price. Not that it's a bad deal for what you get, but you can get that deal any day of the week. I had visions of Nintendo moving a couple million Wii U systems in the month leading up to x-mas, but they really dropped the ball for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. If people didn't buy the Wii U to play Super Mario 3D World last year, they're probably not going to this year. They needed a price drop to compete with XOne, or If they'd at least had a Smash bundle for $300, that would have sold people.
I knew the Wii U would get dominated by XOne: a lot of places were just selling the Wii U at the standard price with no discount, which isn't going to interest the people looking for deals on Black Friday.
The Tetris Company probably only grants permission for certain lengths of time. We already saw Tetris Party Live DSiWare get removed a while back. Even Tetris DS Nintendo was only able to print so many copies of.
Luckily I pre-ordered the bundle, but if you didn't do so it was hard to pre-order the adapter: amazon.ca had it for $60 for the longest time so no one was paying that, and futureshop and bestbuy.ca didn't even put it up on their web site till it was released, so Nintendo could have very easily been misled into thinking it wasn't going to be popular judging by the low number of pre-orders for it.
I wish we'd get a discount on Pushmo World. Europe got a discount for owning a 3DS version, so it's just annoying that NA has had no kind of discount on it.
I don't know why people are paying these crazy prices. Just wait for more stock to arrive, or in the mean time get the Hori controllers that hook up to Wiimotes.
It's cool that you can use them as slave labour to earn rewards for you, but also kind of ironic that people have become so lazy they don't even want to play their own video games any more.
It would probably be easier on the stores to stock these things if each chain only had to carry a smaller subset of the amiibo, especially if Nintendo is going to release hundreds of these things. If they limited each amiibo to one chain, at least you could figure out where to get that amiibo, rather than hunting around at maybe half a dozen places to try to find it in stock somewhere.
Honestly, it's done better than I expected. I was physically ill with disappointment the day they announced it, but it hasn't been the complete failure I thought it would be. It's still in need of a Tetris game before I will consider it a legitimate console though.
Lol, I bought that game for like $5 and traded it in for $8 a couple years ago. They should have tried to find an exploit in a game that's actually somewhat common.
There was a go-around for the game-breaking bug. You just had to start a new game, quickly suicide away all your lives, and then you could load your game properly.
@Jazzer94 I saw that supposed 3 for $30, but then I looked at the TRU Black Friday flyer and it wasn't actually in there, and I looked at other Black Friday flyers and none of them had deals on amiibo. I think that's fake.
Pre-ordered the MK8 DLC a while back. Will get Tetris Ultimate if they fix the price on the Canadian eShop like they did on the US eShop. $30 is too much.
@Jahir I'm talking about: "the collection has to be bought separately for Wii U or 3DS, costing $4.99 each." Does that mean the collection of shorts has to be bought separately for $4.99 per short, or the HD and 3D collections need to be bought separately for $4.99 per collection?
$5 each for shorts, lol. They should have been $5 for the set. I'd rather buy the Pikmin 3 DLC and get more than a few moments of entertainment for my money.
I don't know why a company would expect you to pay 2/3 the price for a game you already own. The second copy should be a free bonus or be like 90% off, since it's not like you're getting much of anything extra.
Considering they were selling those Nintendo Land refurbs for $200 before and people were happily buying them up, I think they can and should sell the bundles for $250, and they really desperately need to sell systems this holiday or they're going to get left in the dust.
That was cute, but I still don't really have a practical sense of how I would use these. If I were going to buy an amiibo, should I be looking to buy one I would want to fight against rather than the character I main? That makes me really confused because I'd want to buy my main to have on display but then it would look stupid to be fighting alongside the exact same character.
@Mommar Go to the top left corner of the main menu like if you were going to adjust the brightness settings, and you can elect to change your theme and go to the theme shop from there.
Beats some of the boring checkers and polka dots themes they're asking money for at least. They probably figure it's safe to give this away for free, since people won't want to use it year-round.
It looks way better than the Link Between Worlds one I bought not realizing it would show something completely different on the 1st page from what was pictured in the theme shop. The folders look better, and I swear the music even sounds richer too, sigh.
Probably hard to sell the Wii U with the New 3DS just out. If the sorts of people looking to invest in a Wii U felt compelled to upgrade their 3DS instead, I can't blame them for making that decision. The Wii U sales will pick up again when Smash releases, and the MK8 DLC might create a little extra hype too.
I already pre-ordered these on amazon.ca a few weeks ago to go with my Mario and Luigi Wiimotes. I hate the tiny D-pad on the GameCube controller, so I hope this bigger one is easier to use. It's also nice that these tether to a Wii remote so you don't have to be tethered to your Wii U.
I doubt the agreement could truly be legally binding anyway though, since by threatening to take away your right to play your games it's basically blackmailing you into accepting the agreement. Just agree and disconnect from the Internet if you're truly paranoid that Nintendo is going to mess up your system. It's not a real agreement if they've given you no option to disagree.
I'm still not really sure if I will buy any of these. I feel like they're just going to end up collecting dust, and it's disappointing the ones that interest me aren't coming out till December, and the new 3DS not till next year in my region.
I'll go with the standard size to fit my small hands more comfortably than the XL does and because the screens are at least slightly bigger than the OG. Plus, the money saved can probably afford me a couple sets of faceplates, not that those are the main factor in my decision, but they're a cool bonus feature.

Woah, 10-player download play for the win — like Tetris DS. I thought they only claimed this was going to be 1-4 player originally.
Re: Let's Summarise the Remaining eShop Deals on Wii U and 3DS
Nothing for me — pretty disappointing sale in my mind.
