Re: Nintendo Switch OS Version 3.0.0 Is Now Live

The update to use the Pro controller wired made me lol, not that it might not be useful, but just that they didn't think to include that in the first place when you actually connect the thing to the dock to charge in the first place.

Re: ARMS Grabs Second Place in the UK Charts

Outsold by 1-2 Switch? Probably only because of clueless scalpers that bought up anything at launch. I'm sure this game will do better in the long run unless 1-2 Switch becomes a free pack-in.

Re: Video: The Top 5 Most Embarrassing E3 Moments by Nintendo

iphys

I didn't have any problem understanding the Wii U was a new system, but I was massively disappointed by the Gamepad being the gimmick for the system. The one thing from the presentation I'll never forget is still hoping for one great final announcement and Reggie sending us off with the embarrassingly lame fireworks for Nintendo Land.

Re: Meet The Mario Maker Player Nintendo Wants To Ban For Keeping The Game Alive

iphys

This person bought the game and two Wii U systems, uses the game as it is without hacking it, and then Nintendo punishes the customer for glitches that are Nintendo's fault. I already gave up bothering to make levels for this game and traded it in, because it was too disheartening to hear of people having their levels removed. Gave up bothering with Miiverse too after hearing too many stories of people getting banned for no reason. Sometimes Nintendo really doesn't have a clue about how to treat their customers.

Re: Rumour: SNES Classic Mini Coming Later This Year

iphys

I thought the NES Classic was just to fill the void between Wii U and Switch. Seems pretty dumb to move onto a SNES Classic so soon when they couldn't even meet demand for the NES Classic, and I'm not too sure why they'd want any cheaper new product stealing the limelight from Switch its first x-mas.

Re: Nintendo Switch OS Version 2.2.0 Is Now Live

@Jaredfrogman I was using it in handheld mode already, but I tried putting it in the dock just in case that would magically work, but it doesn't work either way. I did dig out my old WEP router and it will connect to that, but obviously I don't want to be using WEP. Also, having weird issues with one Joy-Con suddenly refusing to work when it is attached to the Switch. I take it off, hit the sync button and it syncs, then I reattach it and it stops working again. Not too happy with this update.

Re: First Impressions: Splatoon 2 - What We Learned About Weapons, Visuals and Controls

iphys

It took me till the 4th hour before I stopped instinctively hitting the X button. I actually found it impossible to use the analog stick on the right Joy-Con while having my index finger up on the shoulder buttons, so I was forced to either play with motion controls on the handheld standing up so I could turn my body in circles instead of using the stick or use the more ergonomic Pro controller. I liked the Splashdown and it was fun to use it against groups of enemies camping out on one of my teammates trying to Super jump to me by pretending to run away and then come back just in time to splat the lot of them all crowded together.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire on Nintendo Switch?

iphys

My favourite way to play was handheld with motion controls, because I could stand and spin around and never have to worry about using the right analog or Y button. That way I could keep my thumb on the B button and not make the mistake of instinctively jumping with the X button. Plus, I never got confused whether I was facing my home base or the enemy base based on which way I was standing in my living room. Oh, and I loved sporting the hockey helmet with visor, lol.

Re: Review: Human Resource Machine (Switch eShop)

iphys

@Dark-Link73 Yeah, it's annoying when you get the program to do its job and then the game admonishes you, but it's not that it wants a specific program, but a more general one that can handle various inputs. One person's solution should work for anyone unless they've changed the game from previous versions.

Re: Review: Human Resource Machine (Switch eShop)

iphys

@Equinox I would just get him World of Goo for starters. It's the best of the bunch and has great replay value. Little Inferno is fun but doesn't last long, so I'd wait to get it on sale. This game would probably be too frustrating for an 8-year-old.

Re: Review: Human Resource Machine (Switch eShop)

iphys

I have some programming experience, and I found the first half of the game pretty trivial. Usually I knew exactly what I needed to do but two levels towards the end gave me a headache trying to figure out how to go about them. The game doesn't really teach you so much as hand you the tools and expect you to figure out how to use them, and I feel like this game would probably be too hard for children that haven't learned certain mathematical concepts yet. I think the average non-nerd person that tries to play this game would probably be horrified by having to think as much as you do. It doesn't really feel like a game quite, but it is quite compelling wanting to figure out solutions. I did also like that I could just play this on the tablet with no controllers whatsoever for a different Switch experience.

Re: Editorial: Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the Most Accessible of Nintendo Switch Games

iphys

Maybe your mum can play Zelda, but I can't imagine my mum handling a game with such complicated controls. She can play Minesweeper with a mouse and Wii Sports, and actually I was surprised I got her to play Bit.Trip Beat and like it, but even for me a game with this many buttons confuses me at times. Sadly, I think my mum would find 1-2 Switch more accessible than this.

Re: Review: Metal Slug 3 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

iphys

Bought this from the Japanese eShop day 1 for 823 yen tax included (not sure why this page says 900 yen), and I don't remember any slowdown issues, but I also never played the original, so there may have been slowdowns that I assumed were normal and just didn't really pay attention to.
