Re: Tetris Ultimate Dated for 3DS, Will Cost Less on the eShop

iphys

@3dcaleb Pretty sure the Tetris Company can't license the right to make a Tetrisphere game since that game was made by another company, and even if they ever wanted to make a Tetrisphere sequel the Tetris Company might not even allow them to use the name Tetris in the title anymore, like what happened with Tetris Attack.

@123akis I think the Battle mode will be better than Axis, but otherwise I think Axis has more single-player modes. From what I saw at E3 the items weren't game-breaking like the matrix-switch one in Axis, and I think they will actually focus on making the Battle mode competitive like Tetris DS was rather than just something for people to fool around with casually, as I know the Tetris Company wants to make Tetris a big competitive thing.

Re: Turns Out The GameCube Controller Adapter Won't Be Compatible With Other Wii U Software

iphys

@Einherjar Hori is known for making quality stuff, so I wouldn't just assume their controllers are going to be junk because they're third-party. I already pre-ordered those Mario and Luigi Hori controllers last week to go with my Mario and Luigi Wiimotes, and it looks like they even have a bigger D-pad than standard GameCube controllers, which is one thing I hate about the GameCube controller is the stiff little D-pad. I also pre-ordered the Smash bundle yesterday when we told we'd be able to use GameCube controllers for other games, so I guess I'll see what actually works better, but it's massively disappointing to learn the adapter may have no other use the day after I ordered it.

Re: Turns Out The GameCube Controller Adapter Won't Be Compatible With Other Wii U Software

@Einherjar You can buy Hori or PDP GameCube style controllers that hook up to a Wiimote that would work for Smash and also work for any game that can use a Classic controller: far better use of money in my opinion, and you're also not tethered to your Wii U like you are with this adapter. The Wii balance board is pretty useless too, but at least it can be used for more than just the Wii Fit games and you can use it in games like Wii Punch-Out!! and Tetris Party, and it's actually necessary to play the Wii Fit games, whereas this accessory is totally not necessary to play Smash.

Re: 3DS System Update 9.0.0-20 Is Now Live with Home Menu Themes

iphys

Went with the Zelda theme. Figured it was worth the $2 for the menu music. Kind of disappointed that the background doesn't look nicer and I can't control which part of the panorama appears on the first page, since I only use the first page yet the panorama looks nicer on the second page. I wish there were a Little Mac theme.

Re: Talking Point: The Super Smash Bros. 3DS Demo Has Been an Easy Triumph for Nintendo

It's awesome, but I'm kind of mad that I should have qualified for codes and didn't receive them, since it's effectively our real platinum reward. They said they'd add me to a queue to gets codes in 2-3 days, sigh. I feel bad for people that didn't sign up to receive "information" from Nintendo and didn't get codes because of that: an unlimited demo is something much more unique than just information in my mind, because information is something I should just be able to get from a news site.

Re: September's Club Nintendo Reward Details Are Confirmed

iphys

Sigh, Kirby Super Star for me I guess.

They don't offer any current games for the monthly rewards anymore (guess they're saving those for platinum rewards now, lol). It's just VC, plus DSiWare and 3D Classics, which are also basically VC. The last time we got anything remotely current it was Dillon's Rolling Western in November. Meanwhile, they think every old NES game and $5 DSiWare game should be worth 200 coins, so basically only the SNES and N64 games are worth the coins they ask.

Re: Guide: New Nintendo 3DS - Everything We Know So Far

@Artwark They can claim the system weighs 1.5 grams less, lol. My guess is they wanted to make it as small as possible and as hard as possible to access so kids would forget it exists and leave it alone, because they probably had too many kids pulling it out when it was trying to save and then whining to Nintendo about their games getting corrupted.

Re: Nintendo Shows Off 38 "Kisekae Plate" Changeable Covers For New Nintendo 3DS

Is the wooden one made out of real wood from some kind of rare bonsai tree or something? Number 012 is also 3000 yen, and it doesn't look like there's anything special about it except that it has the same larger graphic as the wooden one (although I'd much rather have the smaller graphic like on 005 that includes Luigi and Lakitu et al. anyway).

Re: Guide: New Nintendo 3DS - Everything We Know So Far

@sinsalaca When you do the system transfer your purchased games will transfer over, although the system transfer is slightly more difficult now that you can't take your SD card out of your 3DS and stick it in the microSD slot on the New 3DS.

Re: Guide: New Nintendo 3DS - Everything We Know So Far

Did they really improve the camera lighting, or is the article mistaking the brightness adjustment feature that uses the camera to adjust the screen brightness for an improvement in the ability of the camera to take pictures in low lighting? I don't understand Japanese, but I sure didn't see any indication in the video that they've made any improvements to the cameras, so I expect the pictures to still be as terrible as ever.

Also, it looks like they've moved the camera indicator light from the outside of the system to the inside: did they say why? I thought it was supposed to show when the camera was active so people would know if you were trying to take pictures of them that you shouldn't be, but then the system also makes that camera click sound anyway. Are we supposed to be worried that nefarious people will hack our 3DS systems and gain control of the inner camera to take blurry pictures of us gaming, lol, and the light will warn us of that great danger?

Re: Feature: Where Are The Super Nintendo 3D Classics?

iphys

I don't think they'll happen since they never even bothered making the NES 3D Classics that would have made sense like Punch-Out!! and Rad Racer. They did junk games like Urban Champion instead and then gave up when they didn't sell, surprise, surprise.

Re: Steel Empire Blasting A Path To The North American 3DS eShop Next Week

iphys

@Za23 I think they basically did just convert the Japanese price to dollars, and the Japanese price was probably high because the original cartridges seem to go for a fortune in Japan, unlike the NA cartridges. Maybe the $30 price won't work in NA, and they'll be forced to put it on sale or permanently drop it, judging by all the hate the price tag is getting. Now I'm not sure whether to bite the bullet and drop the $30 like I was planning to or wait for the sale like everyone else seems to be holding out for.
