Littlewood definitely deserve some love for being the pixel RPG game throwback with a twist being that you have already banished the baddies and now rebuilding your world.
A second screen as an attachment, or folded design like the DS/3DS. The added screen real estate doesn’t have to do anything 3D or extra. But having more pixels to display the game play, UI, maps, etc so that we don’t have to squint on some games and their tiny text.
As so many others have said, there is no censorship. There is nothing to see here. Nintendo just made a choice to make a change. Who knows what they were thinking when they made the change?
For all we know, Takahashi woke up one day and decided Elma dress nicer this way. Or that these new look works better with Elma’s and Lin’s character more.
@Solomon_Rambling Actually, the Campbell Soup cans were about money…..
When you have a public wanting more and more entertainment, quality isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. There are reasons why reality TV became a thing.
Not to mention, there are plenty of gamers and gaming media personality who diss the idea games is an “artistic expression”. To them, games need to be fun and entertaining first and foremost. However, they fail to address how “fun” is relative.
@AstroTheGamosian I agree. It would have been nice if Miyamoto was accredited for creating Zelda in Wisdom of Echoes.
However, I don’t think this is how Nintendo wants to proceed forward. Zelda is a Nintendo brand. Rarely, do the public know of the designer who designed a battery charger or random kitchen utensil. And this is the way Nintendo wants it.
Or rather, Nintendo wants people to view Zelda, first and foremost, as a Nintendo character. And not the creation of just one person.
It is a corporation. It isn’t the temple for specific game developers. Haven’t you wonder why we haven’t seen Bowser (the American CEO) in directs much when compared to his predecessor Reggie? Nintendo, as least in the Switch era, has removed much individuality and personalities from their general promo.
Or it could be Nintendo wanting to highlight the upcoming generation of developers in the company.
At the end of the day, it could just be some random junior forgetting to add that into the game. 😂
@AstroTheGamosian He basically is retired from making games. His focus are movies, theme parks and such.
Miyamoto has been a great developer. It would be sad to see him retire. But at least Nintendo is carefully planning developer successions unlike other studios that rid developers every few years.
To those who moan about the “new” direction of games away from years yonder: it’s always good to check whether you know the latest slangs and music. If not, perhaps the world has moved forward as you have. 😉

@HeadPirate Thanks for the link. The new “ages” is interesting. Time will tell how it is implemented. Hopefully when one civilization enters a new age, it doesn’t automatically drag the others into it as well.
And yes, the graphics look great. I wonder if the Switch will be able to handle that…
@-wc- I agree. I have been a fan since Civ I. Played through them all including all the mods with Civ II, Colonization, Alpha Centurai, Beyond Earth etc.
As I watched the announcement, I kept wondering what is the difference between 6 and 7 aside from the graphics. The base game is pretty much there since Civ l. They haven’t deviated much in terms of the technology evolutionary lines and winning options since. The biggest thing was moving to a hex-based map instead of a grid.
I hope I am wrong, but it looks pretty much like a graphics update.
@JohnnyMind Actually, the stock market wasn’t designed to be like this. It was originally a way for long term investments into a company based purely on performance. One would historically be expected to keep the stock for a while, definitely more than the millisecond, wait nanosecond stocks are kept today.
Deregulation and hedge fund managers only made it worst.
@CactuarDavid I beg to differ. I can see many game store employees or general electronic store sales clerk asking if one played the first one if they picked up the second one only for purchase. It’s a very common question and easy interaction.
A lot of the early indie games became popular ONLY because they were one of the early indie games.
If they had been released now, in this abundant indie games environment, they wouldn’t have made it, if at all because they were truly not anything of note.
Good on Nintendo. Such behaviors have no place in Splatoon.
As a frequent player, I have noticed the rise in questionable nicknames. Sure you get the usual toilet humor and puns, but there has been some “I think it’s edgy to call myself this right now” nicknames especially given the social and cultural climate of the day.
There have been a few that right out crosses the line I found myself reporting them. And I hate being that person. It is only until I attach a lengthy explaination of why their nicknames are problematic in my reporting that reminds me how disrespectful we can be.
I think you miss the point. Point wises or not, rollers are OP. And with this, they are even more.
This has nothing to do with lower rank players overusing and not using the rollers correctly. We are talking about players who do know how to play Splatoon. In higher ranks like X, rollers are basically default splatters. You better have one on your team if your opponents have one or else you are pretty much done.
This shouldn’t be how Splatoon is played. This shouldn’t be about the most powerful weapons dominating. Similarly, with the Kraken, it’s a guarantee special no matter what. It will be a major turning point in most games. There is no way to stop it.
@miwa I understand where you are coming from. However, in an interviewer and interviewee situation, the interviewer has the greater responsibility to provide evidence to justify how the terms was “pretty clear” for them to publish what they did, especially when accused by the interviewee who stated otherwise.
The interviewer is accused of wrongdoing here. Just saying it doesn’t cut it for Schreier. We need proof.
The relationship between the interviewee (the subject) and interviewer is not an equal one. The interviewer has power over the interviewee and what they said because the interviewer decides what to include or not include in their reporting.
And that reporting can make or break how the interviewee is perceived. It can even make or break someone’s life sometimes.
This is David vs. Goliath. Schreier is Goliath with the backing of Bloomberg, whereas Pyoro, for a lack of better words, is just an ordinary person.
@cvrator it doesn’t matter what you or I think in this case actually. It only matters what the interviewee thinks. If the interviewee feels that their interviewer crossed a line in reporting something they felt was “off-the-record” or not agreed upon, then the interviewer is at fault here. The interviewer exploited the interviewee.
This is an ethical tenet in all media reporting, from news papers to documentaries.
@cvrator How does one keep the anonymity of an anonymous source? By keeping them anonymous.
Just because you are “inclined” to believe one journalist due to your perceived integrity of them, it does not excuse them from providing evidence to support their claims.
This is scummy journalism. Not all people know how to talk to so-called-journalists to keep specific information from being reported or attributed to them. This is especially true when we have no idea where Pyoro is from or how old they are.
This could be a situation where they did not share the same cultural understanding as Schreier when it comes to how journalistic practices are for Schreier, or that Schreier our right took advantage of someone “younger” or “naive”.
I have yet to see evidence of how Schreier made the terms “pretty clear”. Until then, this sounds exploitative of an interviewee by their interviewer regardless of what the topic is. It may be “above board”, but ethically shady.
I love MHS2 on the Switch, but not sure if there is a point in getting this one. Storywise, it’s a “prequel” to MHS2, and lacks the graphic fidelity and some monsters.
Any insight from those who played this originally and the second one? Thanks! 😊
@hymbii6 I totally agree. I enjoy going online and seeing what outfits people send me. Some are horrible 😂 (which I get a laugh at) and some are amazing. I like sending people what they ask for too. It’s an online game definitely, I need all the love online just so I can get my money (cause of their love) to make more outfits!
Not to mention these content updates are timed exclusives. You won’t be able to make them if you aren’t playing during this time. More importantly, a lot of those outfits are limited one per player. So you have to rely on online players to get other variants.
As for the clothing being locked behind each body type, I agree. I wish I can wear whatever my character wants. As for body types, I suspect it’s more of a technical and resource issue.. There are designs that would need major tailoring and adjustments. It isn’t as simple as putting the same 3D model on all the body type models. But I do agree, it would have been much better if they had other body types.
Nintendo may just be spreading this delay “rumor” so that Switch 1 sales remain strong long enough to take over PS2 without changing plans.
@BaldBelper78 Exactly. For those who thinks this gives Nintendo more time to “bake” the new system: if Switch 2 is already in production, it’s technology wouldn’t be updated if at all on the hardware front. A year delayed is a year more outdated in tech. Software can advance so far limited to hardware.
I am a bit perplexed. How do you use the side buttons when your thumb is on the thumb stick? Do you “click” it with the inside of your hand? Or I guess, the side buttons cannot be used at the same time as the thumb sticks cause your need to use your thumb for both.
I am not a rouge person. But I find this Splatoon expansion throughly enjoyable. It put your pre-conceived notion of Splatoon up for the test. So you think you would do better with being able to paint more ink? Or would it be better for you to run faster? Guess again.
Your ability to upgrade your weapon differently each time adds to its replayability… or it can quickly lead to the end of your run with your poor build. This expansion is exactly like Splatoon 2’s, except instead of a subway, we are now in a tower. There wasn’t much incentive to replay 2’s expansion once I was done, but this has intrigued me to try with different weapons.
We all have one or two weapons we hate… now if only I can beat the tower with those.
I throughly enjoyed Cyber Sleuth. It exceeded my expectations with a more interesting story than Pokemon and more polish. It is too bad they haven’t put much effort in more traditional old school digimom games.
This looks like a port of the iOS version… which was a port of the 3DS version. Hopefully it’s not going to be full price, especially how Monster Stories 2 isn’t even full price on the Switch. Not sure how good it will be if you played the 2nd one first. There were a lot of monsters, strategy and such added on the 2nd one.
@Joekun Same here. I am a bit tired of remakes… those can’t possibly be the only Nintendo first party releases this year if the new console and games are pushed to 2025.
Unless they do an Ocarina of Time Remake or similar, these old games are getting very tiring and lazy. (Though I know many would love these old games.)
Sooooooo……. Could someone please explain the relationship between Evil Empire and Motion Twin? I am not sure how they are connected specifically with this game…. Did one take over another or publisher/developer relationship or something different? 🤷♂️ Thanks in advance.
@Sonicka Never knew it was a trend to dislike Fornite? I guess I am on fire than. 😂 I just hope it’s not a Disney Dreamlike Valley x Fornite mashup. I don’t know why but I really find Disney characters boring? 🤷♂️
Nintendo’s decision to remake this series is very puzzling to me. The original DS game was a mere blip in that handheld’s history. It’s not even one of the top 10 or 100 of DS games. I am not even sure if it was even a cult classic.
Please hire Bandi Namco (New Pokémon Snap) or Monolith Soft (Xenoblade, Zelda TOTK/BOTW, Splatoon, every other Nintendo IP) to just make the next Pokemon game.
Game Freak has continually expressed they want to make new IPs again and again. Perhaps this is time they relief of themselves from making future mainline Pokemon games and just share in 1/3 of the revenue to make their next Pocket Tiny Town Jockey Hero.
It’s a win-win.
ILCA can move onto remakes of Mystery Dungeons. They are chibi style already. 😉
I don’t understand the critique of Kamiya’s “ego”.
Kojima and him, whether you like or dislike them, their work are relevant and important to an industry driven by profit and Fortnite wannabes. Their work, whether financially or critically successful, pushes the industry forward. Their “failures” are often times their best work.
Kamiya isn’t being a narcissist. He knows of his place in the industry. Sure he may fall. But at this point, I am certain there ARE developers who look up to him or at least respect his approach and attitude to want to work with him. He pointing this out only shows his awareness of how this decision to leave Platinum is not decided easily. He knows it will affect others. Who knows? Those developers who wanted to work with him may join him onward.
There is always an element of “ego” or more rightly, confidence when it comes to auteurs like him and Kojima. It may not be the self-deprecating modest role model or whatever attitude we “expect” them to be.
It takes guts and a little bit of confidence and belief in yourself to leave a company driven by profit and chart your own creative course.
I wish him the best. “Failures” are not always what they seem. He is, at least, living his life according to his own values.
Despite what we think, E3 was first and foremost an industry event where developers and publishers can mingle and pitch games. I do hope there are better ways for them to connect now at other events and such.
As for summer game fest and the game awards, while great, these events cannot last forever as they are reliant on one person. Until it is run by an organization with industry membership (ironically like E3), they will never be legitimate replacement for an actual industry event.
As it is right now, there are visible favoritism if you are friends of the host, commending valuable advertising time segments with nothing much to show just to build hype.
A true industry event should allot time in a fair manner as much as possible.
@Nidorom Ha! I was scanning the comments until I saw yours about the game being like SMT/Persona/Digimon. That’s half the fun, fusing monsters/demons etc. 😂😂😂 That’s a thumbs up from me for now. I will have to check out other reviews before purchase. I find DQ games a hit and miss with me. The mainline and Builders game were fantastic… but the spin offs are a bit lacklustre.
@luckyseven Definitely, XBC2 has gotten a lot of “hate” for its more anime style. It baffles me sometime as Final Fantasy isn’t that far in terms of troops and style either. I guess 4K graphics helps. 😂😂
I haven’t had the chance to play BG3, but it definitely sounds like a good fantasy game if it does live up to the hype and all its endings. It’s definitely on my “to play” list haha.
@luckyseven Haha there were legit game industry reviewers from other publications and websites who said they hadn’t and/or wouldn’t play XBC3 because it was “too long” or “too complicated”.
BD3 is an excellent game for the pre-dominately western focused, gaming industry and audience. It’s a classic western role playing game that’s been updated for the current era. It’s relatable. Especially now that Stranger Things has normalized D&D for the masses, it’s cool now to play it 😉. Glad that the game finally got the upgrade it need to be part of the 21st century.
@Altaria_97 Yes, I suspect Fantasy Life will be a Switch 2 launch title.
I really hope they do a Professor Layton Collection in the same graphical details as the new game. I am pretty sure the graphics on the DS/3DS games are scalable.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Reveals Why He Left PlatinumGames
Re: E3 Has Been Cancelled, Permanently
Re: The First Review For Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Is In
@Nidorom Ha!
Re: Eiji Aonuma Comments On The Possibility Of A Playable Zelda In The Future
I just hope they don’t make a playable Zelda similar to Link. Something more than a sword and arrows please. And a hook shot doesn’t count.
Zelda deserves more.
Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2023 Is Baldur's Gate 3
@luckyseven Definitely, XBC2 has gotten a lot of “hate” for its more anime style. It baffles me sometime as Final Fantasy isn’t that far in terms of troops and style either. I guess 4K graphics helps. 😂😂
I haven’t had the chance to play BG3, but it definitely sounds like a good fantasy game if it does live up to the hype and all its endings. It’s definitely on my “to play” list haha.
Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2023 Is Baldur's Gate 3
@luckyseven Haha there were legit game industry reviewers from other publications and websites who said they hadn’t and/or wouldn’t play XBC3 because it was “too long” or “too complicated”.
BD3 is an excellent game for the pre-dominately western focused, gaming industry and audience. It’s a classic western role playing game that’s been updated for the current era. It’s relatable. Especially now that Stranger Things has normalized D&D for the masses, it’s cool now to play it 😉. Glad that the game finally got the upgrade it need to be part of the 21st century.
Re: Round Up: Everything Announced At The Level-5 Vision 2023 November Showcase
@Altaria_97 Yes, I suspect Fantasy Life will be a Switch 2 launch title.
I really hope they do a Professor Layton Collection in the same graphical details as the new game. I am pretty sure the graphics on the DS/3DS games are scalable.
