I am shock StarCraft is in the Hall of Fame before the first Civilization. Not to mention World of Warcraft before the original Warcraft. This “spread the love” type of Hall of Fame is the problem.
It’s weird why some hate Spirit of Justice so much for its gameplay and not the original trilogy. The level of supernatural detective work is comparable to the originals. The Fays were all over it. Since, the game is set in a “foreign” land, I don’t think we will get the same game mechanics again. Each of the second trilogy has a different system. The least appealing of which was the reading of emotions by some high tech gizmo in my opinion. That wasn’t my fave in the second trilogy.
@Ramen756 You may be right with SH and SMTV at atlas. …Now does that mean we will get the next Persona on Switch in exchange for not getting any Persona before? 😝
However, with KH, either Square is being cheap or lazy to not port it properly onto Switch. With their Marvel’s Guardians game being another cloud version…I sure hope Square doesn’t make it into a habit… and habits are hard to change. That’s what I am worried about.
The Switch’s trajectory is worrisome. There are already too many cloud games and with each passing day, it seems the Switch’s tech is getting outdated faster and faster.
Aside from serious technical barriers requiring a cloud version, this example of Square and its KH port further normalizes cloud gaming on the Switch even when it can be natively ported. More and more developers has and will continue to ignore native versions for the Switch if a lazy cloud version would suffice. Or they will outright ignore the Switch altogether like Atlus and Soul Hackers 2.
I have the Ace Attorny 3DS games already. But the question is why hasn’t capcom updated them for switch? :/ as for the other games… Pushmo and co is a must.
To everyone surprised with Animal Crossing being in the Top 10, there is a huge world wide community posting designs, design codes and memes of the game. With the 2.0 update last year and the DLC, there are still new things being discovered. The game is far from dead.
Since many of players aren’t usually tweeting about the latest gaming news, this may come as a surprise to you only because you may not be connected to them. If you have a chance, check out the millions of castle builds right now. They are stunning. ACNH Players are doing some very creative things.
@ModdedInkling Agreed. But I don’t know if the Wii and DS era were any better, especially the DS and 3DS. By the end of the DS and 3DS, their tech probably have dropped significantly enough for Nintendo to be making a substantial profit off hardware alone. Even with the current Switch, they are making a boat load just from the system. The upgraded OLED is minuscule especially with the price raise.
I can’t say if this is the case, but after the Wii U, I am sure Nintendo is playing it very conservative. Their venture into DLCs for their main games this Gen is an example. Without the DLC, Animal Crossing New Horizons is half of what New Leaf was in content. Even with the DLC, it is still lacking. Similarly with the Mario sport games, it seems they are purposely holding back content to provide them as DLC or regular “updates”. Speaking of which, the Pokemon Company has perfected this strategy with Sword/Shield and probably with Platium content for Brilliant Diamon and Pearl.
@ModdedInkling When any game franchise purposely split a game into 2 exact ones in the guise of “exclusive” content/Pokémons is from the get-go about money. Not to mention all those loot box trading/battling cards. The Pokémon Company as a whole is a toy/brand company that is focused on making money off their Pokémon IP.
As for Game Freaks’ art department, their excuse has always been they want to maintain a smaller development team and company in general (which is another way of trying to nickel and dime their way off their own developers and squeezing them for all their worth.) Both companies are only looking out for their bottom line.
Similarly, Nintendo isn’t exactly known to be generous when it comes to providing services for their asking price. NSO I am looking at you. Or eating any costs off from their game consoles to providing beefier tech at an affordable price like Sony and Microsoft.
This is one of the best IPs from the 21st century Nintendo. Mario, Pokemon and friends, frankly, are so last century. 😉
@NOALink I didn’t ask for another Pokemon’s attempt at a decent 3D game either. But they are releasing one this month with reskinned Zelda and Monster Hunter Rise/Story assets and gameplay. And don’t get me started on Metroid Prime 4…, I doubt many born in this century asked for it to begin with. 😉
@fafonio X1 Definitive Ed. is less of a remake than upgrading the game to modern graphics so that X1 looks similar to X2. The awkward walking animation and horrible side quests are still part of the game, not to mention the horrible arts selection along the bottom screen. It’s more of a remaster than remake.
@OnlyItsMeReid I love X2 more than X1 but I think if they really update X1’s battle system and other quality of life stuff, the game can definitely be amazing. I hope I get to see an X1 remake one day.
Great to see Animal Crossing New Horizons and Splatoon 2 up in the top 5. The dev team behind both games deserve praise and a raise. They have really helped Nintendo stay relevant with the broader gaming community. Perhaps the big N should consider a Splatoon or AC movie….Mario and DK’s appeal isn’t what it used to be. Even Splatoon has more action than jumping on a mushroom 😝.
But awesome to see Xenoblade and Xenogears up in the top 50. Monolithsoft deserves more support from Nintendo if they want to broaden their IP beyond plumping, bananas and a small electric rodent.
At this point, I am ok with Atlus not porting P4, P5, and/or the entire Persona series over. That would be one less JRPG game series nibbling at my wallet. Thank You. 😀
@Ludovsky That is a possibility, but a rather bad decision. They can easily restrict people who haven’t finished the game to GTS with a single line of code and/or stop people from using national dex Pokémons elsewhere in the game. Arbitrarily locking GTS is essentially them preventing players from accessing in game content that we already paid for… so if I were to start playing this game in a years time, GTS will be available to me right away then? Does that even make sense?
@VoidofLight Yes, it is likely not ILCA’s fault. But this isn’t the first time a Pokémon game has been launched half finished. So who’s fault is it? There is absolutely no excuse for a profitable company as TPC to keep releasing these subpar games. I think we need to be honest here and say that the TPC needs to hire more developers or provide more resources for these developers to meet their deadlines. They have been doing this for over 20 years. If a project manager keeps screwing their project timelines and deliverables this long, they would have been fired ages ago.
@Purgatorium I agree. Bobby Kotick may be the person-of-concern today, but he didn’t create this hostile work environment alone. This is a systemic problem at Activision Blizzard. From him, the board, HR, and any other higher ups, they are there to protect the bottom line and their own self interests only.
I recall someone from HR once called employees “human capital”. Employees are not seen as individual human beings, but capital to be shuffled around and used.
@MrSquee Compairing SMT sales and Persona sales is a little disingenuous since both are very different games and series even if they are related. It is like comparing sales of Final Fantasy with Chocobo Mystery Dungeon. But if we compare SMT games, 5 did better than 3’s sales. So…wouldn’t that be a positive for Atlus?
@MrSquee SMTV hasn’t even come out for a week yet. I will wait and see how well the game does after December at least. Plus, it’s still unrealistic to compare an old game port to a new game. Perhaps Atlus was testing the Switch market with the old ports and has actually determined the Switch is worth the investment and put in more effort onto SMTV. We don’t know.
And Atlus hasn’t even brought over the Etrian Odyssey series yet either. That will do better than the old ports.
@MrSquee Has Atlus considered not porting over old or not-so -hot-titles to the switch and justify their sales as to why Switch players aren’t supporting them?
SMT3HD sounds like a nightmare of a game when contemporary conveniences are concerned. And I have all SMT game and spin-off on the 3DS. And TMS#FE has no English voiceovers which will turn some off. It’s like EA using FIFA sales on the Switch to justify why they aren’t porting other games over.
Edit: Forgot to note that there is still Black Friday and I am sure many are waiting for sales then to decide on their purchases. Not to mention Pokemon….
This is the reason why I will not get Persona Strikers on Switch UNTIL Altus brings Persona 5 over. Just as I won’t get into the Trails of Cold Steel series until the first ones are ported over which they are. And for that game, it seems the stories are linked.
I don’t care for exclusivity. But I do care that I only have time for one console system. I won’t buy another just to get one or two games.
Christina was one of the judges on The Voice, loads of kids know who she is. Plus she has one of the most amazing voices whether you like her songs or not. I would say only Ariana Grande can compete in vocal ranges. They are in the league of Mariah Carey.
The people who liked Christina back in the day are likely parents now like her or soon to be. She is exactly what Nintendo needs to target the over 30+ audience….which consists of more than double the demographic of children and teenage Switch players. Switch players are mostly over 20.
Just checked YouTube, she has a new Spanish song out 2 weeks ago and has over 13 million views already.
Great respect for Miyamoto, but as long as the Nintendo top brass can ground his “ingenuity” when it comes to hardware, motion control, peripherals, and whatever “new” way of gaming he can think of, we would be good.
I don’t understand the “next console won’t be backwards compatible” idea with Nintendo… if they are smart, they would be backwards compatible considering the huge back catalogue and installed base.
@iaLgan Yes, the Pokemon competitive scene will move forward, but I don’t think they will make BDSP or Arceus their jump off point to next gen…. It wouldn’t make sense Haha, Do we know if Platium stuff will be dlc or already in BDSP?
@iaLgan Haha Are we sure there aren’t going to be any DLC for SMT5? With Pokemon, I am not sure if this remake will last a while like Sword/Shield, since the competitive scene will stay with SS, and not move to BDSP. There are rumours of a national dex heading to SS….
@Nanoline52 First, let us be clear about why and how Apple could right out ban Epic from being on the AppStore for 5 years after the verdict. Epic first violated their developer contract with Apple by forcing their own payment system which led to being kicked out of the AppStore. At that point, Epic has already lost their developer status because of their violation. This, as we all know, is what led to the legal case.
Even after the legal verdict in favour of Epic, that didn’t change the fact that they DID violate their developer contract with Apple, and thus loosing their privileges to sell through the AppStore.
The court did not require Apple to void all their current contracts or reinstate Epic back into the AppStore. It was stated anyone who violated the developer contract are not allowed to be back on the AppStore for 5 years. Apple did not make an example of Epic or was petty specifically to them. Apple did what their own developer contracted stated…..which Epic agreed and signed at the time. Epic is not the first developer nor the last developer to be banned.
Whether its PETA or some cute animal crossing planters someone made, I don’t see the problems with these articles. They all point to the relevance and affect Nintendo has on our world….and our lives, our “NintendoLife”. 😂😂😂
@Dafirelive Pokemon may have been a kids thing 20 years ago, but I don’t think defending Game Freak and The Pokemon Company by saying Pokemon is only a children’s thing today is valid anymore.
We have Pokémon Go, Unite, Masters etc…, which all requires micro transactions to survive as games. Until the day a 7 yo can have a credit card, I don’t think Pokemon is for only children anymore. Not to mention all the adult sized dress shirts and ties with Pokémon prints on them… Guess TPC is branding Pokemon for children only.
This is great and all … but it stinks of the usual disingenuous corporate PR and marketing when it comes to supporting the LGBTQ+ community or most causes. Lip service for a feel good photo-op with little substance.
As a community member, first, we don’t all like rainbows. In fact, they are missing several color combinations if they really were supportive of the community….just saying. Don’t think they did their homework.
And instead of just providing us rainbows and music by LGBTQ+ artists, they could have made a better contribution by donating Fortnite profits during this time to worthy LGBTQ+ community organizations or causes.
Splatoon 3 is a total new story. Who knows what will happen now that Pearl has taken over with chaos? Ever wonder why you have a salmonoid for a buddy? Or are we in deep after the Octo expansion?
Xenoblade Chonicles X will not be “ported”, but I wager XCX will get a remake treatment to include all those cut content and possibly expanded to include a bit more, sort of a XCX1.5.
I am glad I am not the only one. Loved the original Advanced Wars, and when I saw the reveal I knew something was off with this “Nintendo” game. Love Wayfoward but this art style is a major miss. It’s all over the place.
The 2D and 3D graphics don’t mix well if at all. Some of the 2D characters can use some tightening up or consistency. And the low quality 3D makes the game looks like one of those mobile games cluttering the eShop.
I hope this is just a work in progress. Else this is a big miss in any hope of really reviving the franchise. Advanced Wars was sleek with a strong visual identity without looking like a game for toddlers or the first Toy Story.
@Dethmunk Normally, there aren’t any problems with 3D chibi art styles. They can be very well done like the Link’s Awakening remake. However, with the last official Pokemon game, Sword and Shield, GameFreak already gave us the Pokémon art style of THIS Gen.
Historically, with each new Pokémon game remake, that remake takes on the art style of that current Gen. Instead of building on Sword and Shield and improves on it, fans are now given a B rated mobile looking game out of nowhere. Even the last remake, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, with its 3DS graphics, looks better than this remake.
Yes, GameFreak and the Pokémon Company can do whatever they want. What most likely happened was any work done for the initial Diamond and Pearl remake have been shifted to be part of Legends. The art style of Legends looks exactly like Sword and Shield, with a slight faded palette change. The 3D models look the same. It’s no coincidence Legends is based in Sinnoh either. It may have been part of the original remake or the likely Arceus based plot line that may have been added to the remakes.
The point is, imagine if Breathe of the Wild 2 looks exactly like a chibi top-down Zelda game. This is the type of shock to some Pokémon fans I think. At least it was for me initially.
The greater problem is this, Pokemon and really Nintendo (by way of Mario Party and Animal Crossing for example) have been giving us unfinished or half finished games. Many features in past games are missing, and when some of these features are added later on, they are marketed as free updates. When I pay full price for a game, I expect to have a finished game. It’s not that fans are being entitled or spoiled, but if we look at the problems with each of these games, we will find missing past features to be a big one.
By the way, the trailer looks amazing. Only thing I would be curious is how they would animate the battles with such dynamism when the battle system is so turn based.
This has the potential to be a game changer if done right. Apple essentially can make the PS portable that Sony never made. Imagine, iPhone/iPad mini sized device with capability to run most current gen games if not all. Oh and one more thing, it can be priced at 100$ more than your PS5 or Xbox X….that’s because macOS /iosOS comes with it and you can do all your computer stuff on it too.

Re: Random: PETA Wants Nintendo To Add A Gun-Toting Chicken To Smash Bros. Ultimate
Whether its PETA or some cute animal crossing planters someone made, I don’t see the problems with these articles. They all point to the relevance and affect Nintendo has on our world….and our lives, our “NintendoLife”. 😂😂😂
Re: Now, This Is What Next-Gen Pokémon Should Look Like
@Dafirelive Pokemon may have been a kids thing 20 years ago, but I don’t think defending Game Freak and The Pokemon Company by saying Pokemon is only a children’s thing today is valid anymore.
Re: Fortnite's 'Rainbow Royale' Celebrates LGBTQ+ Community With Music And Rainbows
Re: Nintendo Reminds Us Splatoon 3 Is Still On The Way
Splatoon 3 is a total new story. Who knows what will happen now that Pearl has taken over with chaos? Ever wonder why you have a salmonoid for a buddy? Or are we in deep after the Octo expansion?
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles Developer Monolith Soft Reports Huge Profits, Up By 138.2%
Xenoblade Chonicles X will not be “ported”, but I wager XCX will get a remake treatment to include all those cut content and possibly expanded to include a bit more, sort of a XCX1.5.
Re: Shantae Developer WayForward Is Making Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp
Re: Video: Pokémon Fan Reimagines The Diamond And Pearl Remakes As Full 3D Games
Re: Rumour: Get That Salt Ready, Apple Is Reportedly Working On A Nintendo Switch-Style Hybrid Console
