Re: Review: Fashion Dreamer - Some Decent Dress-Up, But Lacks Style Savvy's Depth

graviton

I haven’t played the other games but I am enjoying this game a lot. It isn’t for everyone for sure. If you aren’t into creative designs and outfits, unlocking new patterns to expand your options, and to create your own brand, this isn’t for you. There is less hand holding and more creativity. It’s all about creating your own style and helping others.

I don’t understand the wonky economy comment. Yes, you can earn a lot of e-points through online play. Yet, I have a nagging feeling the reviewer didn’t play long enough to realize how expensive it is to make one design for higher level clothing patterns.

I am at level 60 and I believe there is 100. I can earn close to a million e-points with a new design and creative outfits for NPCs and other players. HOWEVER, it costs over 200,000 e-points to make a shirt or a blouse at higher levels. I am actually running out of e-points!!

If you want your own designs, this will cost you. Sure, you can get already made designs from others, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you will get what you want…and frankly, relying on other people’s designs alone will definitely hold you back from progressing. You have no idea how many versions of the same pair of shoes I have but just not that one color or pattern I needed to fulfill a character’s outfit criteria.

The reviewer left out a very important point, the trend of each area, how complete you style an outfit request and what level of clothing you style someone with affect how many coins you get for the gotcha game (where you get special clothing items not found elsewhere) or items for your photos.

Futher, as you play, you do recognize brands and players that fit your own style. You do want to follow them to see and get their new designs or new inspirations and vice versa.

This is a game for wannabe fashion designers who want their fashion house. 😉

Re: Pokémon Bank Users Encouraged To Transfer Pokémon To Pokémon Home ASAP

graviton

Pokémon Home is a money grab subscription. TPC purposely limited the Pokémon dex in games so that we NEED Home to store the unused one somewhere as we can’t just store them in a game anymore and transfer them over.

There is no reason why they can’t have the whole dex in a game in this age. Need time to balance the game? Or more people to make the models etc? All these are excuses for the world’s largest media company.

If we can fly to the moon 2000 digital creatures in a game is nothing.

Re: Talking Point: Which Classic Cartoons Deserve The Shredder's Revenge Treatment?

graviton

I would love any of the above cartoons to be made into a pixel gaming masterpiece. But I must offer the following cartoons up for consideration as I feel like they are being ignored 😭😉

  • Spy vs Spy
  • She-ra… (how can you remember her brother and forget her?)
  • Robocop
  • JEM
  • Dinoriders
  • Captain Planet
  • My Little Pony (for all the Bromies)
  • C.O.P.S.
  • The Care Bears
  • Rainbow Brite
  • Denver, the Last Dinosaur
  • Totoro (imagine the sales alone, it will be astronomical for the brand alone)
  • Akira
  • Evangelion
  • Muppet Babies 👶

Re: Pokémon GO's Pokédex Is Now Bigger Than Any Mainline Entry

graviton

@Axecon I totally agree. I was just thinking the other day which Mega Pokémon are left in the Go game to come out, and realized TPC never made any more new megas and how essential to Go megas are despite megas came from X and Y.

I have long believed the mainline Pokémon games do not contain the whole Pokédex is to force players to subscribe to Pokémon Home. A subscription based revenue stream for TPC.

The argument of ever more over complex battle mechanics with the more Pokémon’s there are is muted with Pokémon Go. Sure it is a simpler version, nonetheless it has most of the battle mechanics with different moves and damage etc., and it is doing fine.

And don’t forget, each Pokémon in Go has their own animations…mostly identical from the mainline games. Each Pokémon’s animation already exists, even their 3D models, and yet…. TPC and Game Freak keeps giving us subpar mainline games in every way….

Re: Nintendo Announces Two New Animal Crossing: New Horizons-Themed Switch Lites, Out October

graviton

@Duncanballs Actually, I think your date range was right. Pink was the boy’s color around 1800. I was just pointing out it wasn’t till 1950’s pink became a girl’s color in the States…and soon took it over from boys.

I share you sentiments well. It amuses me when men and women insists women are the ones to dress “pretty” only and men did not care about appearances or less of it. Or that women are the only one who can wear bolder colors. If this was Elizabethan England, men would have been expected to and would be better and more colorfully dressed than women and no one would bat an eye or care about it.

And for those who says it’s not “natural” for men to dress pretty or in bold colors, just look at the animal kingdom. Male peacocks are the best example. They are the one with the stunning tail feathers. Female peacocks pale in comparison, all various shades of neutral tones. And this list of animals go on and on. I don’t see anything more natural than that. 😂

Re: Nintendo Announces Two New Animal Crossing: New Horizons-Themed Switch Lites, Out October

graviton

@Rambler Technically that’s “teal” or “turquoise”. It isn’t a “boy’s” color as much as a “girl’s” color. It is what Tiffany, a jewelry store uses for all their boxes….so tell me if that is a girl or boy thing then 😉. And that color has been rather popular amongst “comfy” home decor for the past decade.

As for the “pink”, it’s more salmon or peachy. Not your traditional Barbie pink. 😅

Re: Pokémon Company's COO Addresses Issue Between Release Schedule And Game Quality

graviton

The bottleneck here is Game Freak.

As one third of the Pokémon Company, they have been reluctant to give up game development powers over to more competent developers. Prime example is New Pokémon Snap (Bandai Namco) vs Pokémon Scarlet/Violet (Game Freak).

Eventually, when they did release the stronghold on mainline Pokémon game development for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, they picked ILCA (Pokémon Home developer). And look how that ended up. We lost a Pokémon generation of remake to some half-baked attempt. Piplup will be forever sad.

Something needs to be done with GF. They either need to beef up their production or learn to work with other developers.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Character Designer Celebrates 1st Anniversary With Special Artwork

graviton

@HeadPirate Where are you getting your info? 🧐😳🤔🤪

Monolith is a huge studio and just keeps on hiring. They have specific teams that helps out Nintendo on Zelda, Splatoon etc, but they aren’t the same teams that oversees Xenoblade. Takahashi will never just “leave” Xenoblade. If anything, Future Redeemed just made it ever more important for him and the main creative team to be working on Xenoblade 4, or whatever it’s going to be called.

Vector industries, Dmitri Yuriev, that blue comet flying to earth…..

It’s very likely the series just got way bigger. This is like an OPUS for Takahishi and his wife. Xenogears, saga, blade. etc. it’s coming full circle.

I just hope Square Enix doesn’t do a Xenogears remake without Takahashi.

Re: Miyamoto Considers Pikmin To Be Nintendo's "Most Global Characters"

graviton

@-wc- @Cotillion @Crono1973
I am by no means dismissing Miyamoto’s contributions to the gaming industry. As some of you mentioned, I am just not quite sure if he know what makes a game a great game sometime as well.

He was against any plot for Mario for so long, that he basically kneecapped the Paper Mario series. With the Mario movie, he recon the whole Kong Country into a diesel fuelled metropolis.

Miyamoto is a great game designer. He is amazing at level designs. But as video games evolve as an entertainment and medium, I am not quite sure I would give him the best award for “story”, “art directions” or “character designs”. 😄

Re: Miyamoto Considers Pikmin To Be Nintendo's "Most Global Characters"

graviton

I have always been a bit weary of Miyamoto and his love of self-advertising. Yes, he created some memorable video game characters and franchises. But pikmins are not them. There are plenty great new Nintendo (non-Miyamoto) characters from the last decade but he rarely acknowledges them.

Frankly, some can even argue Mario is as popular today not because the quality of the character but the lack of options and competition during the earlier years of gaming, I wonder if Mario would even be a big deal if it was launched today.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's New Update Targets Item Duplication Glitches, Unsurprisingly

graviton

@Coalescence Duplication glitches as they are now are NOT game breaking bugs. One need to be very lucky to even perform one normally as they are so obscured and irregular that majority of players will never encounter them to use them and break the game. These bugs are non bugs. The Zelda team could use their time to help the folks at Pokémon. That would be time better spent.

Re: Prince Of Persia Is Back With Brand New Title, Out January 2024 On Switch

graviton

@Noxide Knowing how unfortunate advertising and advertising briefs can be, if marketing decided to use rap, they likely had a very simplistic targeted audience in mind sometimes in the worst ways.

The original Prince of Persia had what resembled hair or farbtic wrap around his head…and in the box art/illustrations, a piece of fabric wrapped around his head with a piece of scarf tying in together and the top.

Think Disney’s Aladdin, flying with Princess Jasmine.

Re: Prince Of Persia Is Back With Brand New Title, Out January 2024 On Switch

graviton

What’s with the Prince’s new look? He looks like a prince from another continent…. 🧐

Controversy and artistic liberty aside, the game looks like another generic Ubisoft game. I couldn’t tell if it was an Immortal Fenyix sequel or not…..

Tell me when it goes on sale 2 months after launch. I may consider the game then 😂

Re: Rumour: Universal Closing "Big Deal" With Nintendo For Zelda Illumination Movie

graviton

Are we going to get a Wind Waker or Tears of The Kingdom Zelda? I would be game if they literally do a Wind Waker/Link’s Awakening Remake style one. I just can’t see them making anything above PG13. A Castlevenia-anime style Zelda is out of the question… and several monsters in TOTK will leave kids scared with nightmares.

@Knightrider1 Nintendo is too scared for a life action film after the first Mario film.

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Squeeze Another Zelda Game Out Of TOTK's Open World?

graviton

Underwater.

There has to be a reason why we can’t do something as simple as that when we can fly however we like in these 2 games. Are you telling me they haven’t thought of adding that to BOTW or TOTK? Perhaps a Wind Waker-like/Phantom Hour Glass-like game. Please make it a new world, unless some flood can make a new version of Hyrule beyond our recognition.

If not, Nintendo has the game engine to make another Hyrule quickly. The physics, code etc. are all there already. Plus, aren’t they basing TOTK on the Splatoon engine? Change some parameters, add a fresh design, gameplay, story and characters.I don’t see why they need another 6 years for an open world Zelda game.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Straight Up Fails In Just One Respect: Accessibility

graviton

Let’s be honest, the joycons themselves are inaccessible in their own right for some. They are tiny and rigid etc. Motion control isn’t for everyone either…even if they are updated to not require that (I am looking at you Skyward Sword).

Aside button mapping, Nintendo (and really the whole industy) should partner or contribute to accessible inputs companies to provide some form of standard for linking their games to any accessible devices.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom New Item Duplication Glitch Discovered

graviton

Nintendo should just leave these “glitches” in the game.

Frankly, I wish Nintendo had implemented a difficulty setting for TOTK. It is harder than BOTW for many I’ve talked to (casual to expert players alike). Not everyone has the time, skill and/or patience to grind. If a player want to enjoy the story or crafting zonai mechas more, please provide options for that.

As an aside, the regional phenomenons ARE dungeons no matter what people whine about. 😂 Some of the shrines even have keys players need to find. If people want to be locked away till they can get out, may I suggest escape rooms in real life? 😄

Re: Pokémon Studio Game Freak Is Partnering With Private Division On 'Project Bloom'

graviton

While I am excited and look forward to whether Game Freak’s new game is another Pocket Jockey, or similar calibre….

I am tired of Game Freak. Their reluctance to put in any effort on the mainline Pokémon games is quickly loosing any respect for them.

They already contracted off the Pokémon remakes. (I am still annoyed with the pixel REMASTER of Pokémon Pearl and Diamond). They have so much time already with 3D Pokémon games and still they gave us Scarlet and Violet.

They sit on all the resources in the world and keep ignoring their main game. Sure, branch off and make new IP, but not at the expense of making a good Pokémon game.

Notice, Nintendo is staying away from publishing their new game after their horrible release of My Little Town Hero’s….

Re: Nintendo Teases Gacha Mechanics In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

graviton

@Hydra_Spectre I was just thinking of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 too. However, I would say in Tears of the Kingdom, this gotcha mechanic looks out of place. I don’t really think the Zonai did that for new products I hope. At least in Xenoblade, there was a story reason whether you liked the mechanic or not.

Re: Hori Unveils Five New Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Products

graviton

@Dom_31 Actually….as someone who has had the 8bitdos, all forms of split “pro controller”-like joycon replacements, multiple joycons and pro controllers…….the Hori Split Pad Compact/Slim is the one I use for portable gaming. Sure, you miss out the amiibo functionality, gyro, Bluetooth and vibration, but for attached joycon style portable gaming, these are the one I use. I find it the most comfortable in my hands for long play sessions without giving up too much of everything else. I play in bed before sleep so I don’t need to be swinging my Switch around. That said, I wouldn’t recommend any joy-con replacements without gyro for TOTK.

As for the pro controller, I ditched that thing for the 8bitdo Ultimate for a while now… it puts the pro to shame.
