Re: Nintendo Download: 28th June (North America)

@subpopz if you're into switch you're into portability. There's no other reason you'd buy the switch version of a game. Granted, that appears to be a decently sizeable market, but still. That's the only reason. It can only go so far. More than Wii U, sure. But more than the N64? Not a chance, and for a company that consolidated their development teams and put all their eggs in one basket, it's suicide.

@PanurgeJr 55 other games, eh? I bet we all fondly recall (and are still playing) all 55. Quality over quantity amirite?

Also, it's a nothingburger LITERALLY because it's Sony, the market leader, and they can afford to do that. They are the video game industry. When you're top dog, you call the shots.

Nintendo (and MS) simply cannot afford to pull such a move.

Kick rocks, junior. Grown folks talking over here.

@thesilverbrick
"If someone told me I could be this excited for a tennis game, I wouldn’t have believed them. But I am super pumped for this coming out on Friday. It might have something to do with the fact that this is only the third new game from Nintendo on Switch this year"

It's amazing. I make this exact same argument as to why Switch owners are so amped up about the games that actually are coming out (I last did it about people being amped up about Runner 3 for instance) and yet I'm taken to the woodshed and called a troll. Here you are though, literally proving my point.

It's a real thing. Switch owners get hyped about releases literally because of the lack of other releases coming out.

Re: Nintendo Is Happy That Sony And Microsoft Pay Less Attention To Younger Audiences

This is the biggest misconception Nintendo has. See, Sony and Microsoft actually appeal more to kids, by simply making mature content kids want and parents don't police.

Do kids like Mario? Sure. Do kids like Call of Duty? Damn right they do.

Sony and Microsoft are just trading blows each generation at the top of the heap, whereas Nintendo does quirky things off to the side in hopes they can be a secondary console every now and then. The last two times Nintendo tried to be the one stop shop? Gamecube and Wii U.

@BenAV "I've only been playing Fortnite since it came out on the Switch (probs like 20ish hours) so maybe I'm wrong by to me it actually feels way slower paced than Splatoon for the most part."

Thinking about this more, this is probably actually true as Switch Fortnite runs at 30 frames while spaltoon 2 runs at 60ish.

Re: Nintendo Says Switch Success Is Due To Clear Marketing, As Opposed To Wii U's Failure

Wii U failed, out of the gate damn near save for the first 2 months of early adopters, for the following reasons. In order.

1) Confusing dual screen gaming with an unapproachable and generally displeasing controller.

2) The sheer fact you couldn't take the controller out of the room of the console.

3) The Wii branding leading to customer confusion and general disdain from the gaming population. By the time 2012 rolled around, people were by and large done with anything 'Wii'.

The failure of the Wii U falls entirely on Iwata's shoulders.

@BenAV to each their own, but no way gyro controls play better in a game as fast pace as fortnite. People dont realize how slow combat plays out in breath of the wild and splatoon comparatively.

Then again, with fortnite switch being capped at 30 frames instead of 60, it may be an equalizer. Cross play can't be very fair however.
