2K has announced that Carnival Games is on its way to Nintendo Switch, bringing the Wii hit back to Nintendo's newest platform.
Built from the ground up for Nintendo Switch, this latest entry in the series can be played alone or with up to four players simultaneously, with each player taking hold of their own Joy-Con controller. The game features 20 re-imagined games that can be played at home or on the go.
Aiming to play like a real-life carnival, the game allows players to try out classic games like ring toss and alley ball horse racing, as well as brand new attractions like drone racing and cosmic bowling. Four uniquely themed alleys – Jungle Lane, Saturn Station, Vulture Gulch and Nuts & Bolts – are said to provide a different look and feel for the games within them.
The franchise was incredibly popular on the Wii, generating over 9.5 million sales across the series, so it's no surprise to see it make a grand return on Switch. Carnival Games will be available worldwide on 6th November this year with a suggested retail price of $39.99.

Can't wait to see those specific people spinning this one game into the sign what Switch will be for eternity.
Eh... i'm not sure that game will be worthy for me.
Looks like cheap Casual Party games.
🤢
...this is going to sell isn't it...
...damn...
2K should hurry up and announce they are making NHL 2K19 for Switch. Then I’d be happy
T R A S H
I'd rather wait ten days and buy Let's Go Pikachu/ Eevee instead...
An...interesting choice...by 2k. Personally, I would've much preferred a Borderlands collection or BioShock collection instead, 2k.
I had the first one for Wii. It could have been a fun game, but the controls weren't very good IMO.
Sorry, but not interested.
It's a great game to play with family and friends but competition is fierce this year with games like Mario Kart, Go Vacation, 1-2 Switch and similar, it's a hard sell for me.
I would love to see the Bioshock collection available, would buy that one certainly but not this Carnival game.
@Paraka
@faint @GrailUK

Prepare for UIG Games Invasion on Switch...
Hey Wii game, why are you on the Switch now?
@Malcrash
Why not ?
Go Vacation on Switch was from Wii too.
You wanted third party. You got it
Be still my beating heart!
Why was this not dropped during the Nintendo's E3 Direct? A game this big shouldn't be announced on a random Thursday!!!!
In all honesty, my kids had this for the DS or 3DS and they played it all the time. It's marketed to kids and casuals. Nothing more, nothing less.
I bought this used for wii for 10 bucks. Resold it a day later. The games weren't fun and the controls were awful.
Hey, It was fun enough for 9.5 million people the first time. Folks want some third party support? This is a way to improve chances. Release a game that sold millions on a new console that has similar tech and experiences. Gauge consumer interest via sales, determine market share from that for other software categories. Business!
Have this on my 3ds, and it wasn't that fun, but carnival games minigolf on the wii was a blast, me and my brothers and parents spent forever playing that game
I might grab this for my wife for Christmas. She enjoyed the wii version
@Paraka "Ugh I can't believe Switch is getting MORE games"
I see the Switch is doing well enough for retail shovelware, I wonder what's next?
@Grumblevolcano
"I see the Switch is doing well enough for retail shovelware, I wonder what's next? "
UIG Games for Switch.
Here comes the Shovelware - and not even original - rehashed Shovelware ports 😂
Good news: Third party support
Bad news: Casual/family game
2K will this game actually work :')
Geez... not this again.
Cool. Now announce borderlands
@dkxcalibur Could use this at a gaming night at work with adults with learning difficulties, particularly those with limited abilities who prefer motion-based control. Well, it'll do until Nintendo announces a Wii Sports-type title for the Switch.
I thought this series was dead.
"...generating over 9.5 million sales across the series..."
I know Carnival Games was popular, but I didn't think it was that popular.
There aren't exactly a ton of mini-game collections on Switch (1-2 Switch, Super Mario Party, and this are pretty much all there is), so I could see some picking it up steam due to the lack of competition.
Wish someone would make a carnival operator sim where you run rigged games and fleece marks and kids of their money.
I’ll grab it for $19.99 it less.
This game will most likely stink
@antster1983 I've been screaming for a Wii Sports on the Switch....only called Switch Sports or something.
We still play Wii Sports at my parent's house during family get-togethers at least once a week. I know others are quick to bash the motion controls but when they are done correctly, it's a lot of fun.
They have great franchises they could easily port to the Switch, but they decide to give us this garbage?!?
Does this mean we might get ninjabread man, Jerry rice and nitus dog football and imagine party babyz ported over as well. The future is bright. This is why I bought a switch.
"Third parties won't support the Switch"
2K, an intellectual:
@Mr_Pepperami
Don't forget Classic HD Nickelodeon games on Switch later such as Cat & Dog, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom, etc.
Edit: Oooh... i want to see Imagine series back to Switch.
As long the games are not too Cheesy, i might enjoy the games.
@Mr_Pepperami A revival of Ubisoft's "Imagine" series.
@Anti-Matter do nickelodeon even make game anymore? Can’t remember the last one based on one. To be fair I’ve not been looking.
@Grumblevolcano honestly I based on some of the recent announcement I actually think there is a strong possibility it will be brought back. The switch for a lot of people is mainly a handheld but third party seem to be viewing it as a Wii.
@Grumblevolcano
Let's see for Imagine series....
Imagine Ballerina
Imagine Chef Starif
Imagine Fashion Mogul
Imagine Fitness Trainer
Imagine Doctor
Imagine yourself....
Also the original game on Wii had over 25 games and the sequel over 30. This one only has 20. We seem to be getting less carnival fun for our buck. 😂
@Mr_Pepperami
Well, last time we got news from Nickelodeon that will be a Classic Nickelodeon series on Nintendo Switch.
We haven't got any screenshots / trailer, but i assumed it will be HD Remake of Cat & Dog / Rugrats Racing games / Fairly Odd Parents / Spongebob games / Danny Phantom / El Tigre, etc.
@Anti-Matter imagine better third party support. Like to see that one ported 😂
I came here specifically for the comments and I was not disappointed. Hilarious
Was only a matter of time. There was a Carnival Games for PSVR too lol
@MasterJay Sounds like I should have bought Carnival Games Minigolf. Sounds like fun if the controls worked well.
@Majora101 ...Be like Bethesda and have an outside company port your software? That would still mean 2K wouldn't be "wasting development resources". In fact, like Bethesda, it would mean 2K isn't learning how to use the system at all.
It's the equivalent of a jock having a nerd do his homework.
Also, Carnival games isn't made by the same folks as Bioshock, etc. That's not really how things work. I understand the sentiment of what you're trying to say, but it still not the clearest path in a business sense.
@Gen0neD It's really turned out well. I saw this topic somewhere else and honestly thought "I can't wait to see this on NL and watch Chicken Little comments all day".
i've always had an odd feeling that these game didnt look good. even as a kid.
2K: "Buy this game or no more third party support, lol."
Switch: "Ok, we bought the game, now what?"
2K: "Wow, you guys really love Carnival Games! Here's a sequel!"
Switch: "What about all of your popular franchises?"
2K: "No plans. We love Nintendo, though!"
@bimmy-lee Another great concept for Waluigi's first game!
Am i the only 1 who actually enjoyed this on the Wii? Also, people need to realise that screaming for mature realistic 3rd party games isn't entirely dependant on 3rd parties. There's no guarantee said games won't bomb. LA Noire and Doom didn't exactly set the sales charts on fire. Sad but true. It's not always fair to blame the 3rd parties. Unfortunately the userbase is equally to blame.
@LinktotheFuture Yeah the controls we good from what i remember, havent played in forever as its the only video game i ever lost
@Chibi
Don't worry.
Actually i enjoy Casual games like on Wii.
Well, as long have great gameplay, it can be so Addictive, like 1-2-Switch.
@Aozz101x
"i've always had an odd feeling that these game didnt look good. even as a kid."
The difference is how does the game developers bring their games to audiences.
Bring the Casual games like that will be different story if you deliver in Japanese Kawaii style rather than Standard Western cartoons.
Not these trash Wii games again! Ugh!
@jwfurness - Oh man, I laughed so hard at that. It’s absolutely perfect. Well done. I’m a huge carnival nerd, and it’s like he’s ripped straight from the Midway.
No
@Majora101 I see what you mean now, as far as willingness to put their brands out there, yeah.
But don't be coy, you're truly excited for this. And a sequel
@AlphaElite summed up perfectly.
Why are you releasing this shovelware and not GTA, Take-Two?
Isn't this the same company that released that steaming pile of garbage known as WWE 2K18 for Switch? No thanks, I won't be buying anymore trash from this developer.
These games suck so bad, but sell so well.
@bimmy-lee You're welcome
Now if only Nintendo would oblige...
They're sitting on the Army Men IP yet they release this...
@Majora101 Yeah, it was a mystery who still owned the rights until they put the first three games and Army Men RTS on Steam and GOG last year.
Hurray for TakeTwo. Bringing a new game instead of only nibelsnarfing old ports like Nintendo themselves does.
Also at a lower price!
Who's not happy?
Groan. not more ports.
more wii ports...yes!
@Dizzy_Boy Just wait until the Switch gets the new feeding tube and colostomy bag accessories. Then you'll be happy with all these ports.
@HobbitGamer 2K is a Take-Two label...
Well I guess now we know what every Grandma will be buying for every Grandchild this Christmas.
@antster1983 I got my THQ and Take-Two and 2K all messed up! So I deleted it.
@koekiemonster No profanity, please.
@IceClimbers
PSVR? lol
Putting Carnival Games makes sense as it was huge on the Wii and to a lesser extent on the DS. But PSVR? Not even PS4, XBO, or PC but PSVR?
Nooooooooo Burn it quick!
Bio....shock.....
Bio.....shock......2
Bio......shock......3
Nuff said.....
No! Stop it! Burn out this cancerous tumor before it spreads! This may look cute and innocent now, but it's not long before... this...

I am one of the reasons this game was so popular. I was one of the earliest promoters of it and gave it tremendous exposure. So happy to see this coming for Switch. It's been over 10 years now since we made the first one a smash hit! 👍 It's strange how all the Switch fanboys who only play one or two types of games will bash this so much, and yet the strong sales of the Carnival Games series tell the real story of who's buying. Ha! Party on, kiddos!
So they can't bring a game (WWE 2K19) worth the efforts to the Switch but with barebone trash like Carnival Games it's a given? It's sad how pathetic you had fallen nowadays 2K Games.
It is a great shame to see a developer being allowed to ride on the coat tails of demographics that Nintendo cater to with garbage like this.
@HobbitGamer well, Nintendo obiously got it wrong to focus on sleep with their QoL project. They should be finding ways to help lazy people to be even lazier, and a feeding tube with a colostomy bag is a good place to start. No need to chew food or getting up to got to toilet.
Next they'll be making games that play themselves.
That's not GTA.
@SmaMan
More Casual games like that, better in my opinion because NOT Everyone want to play Beefy AAA games.
Just give some variation like Casual games without thinking too much.
NOT Everyone want to play the games like Hardcore players.
And for ALL of you guys that being so SALTY with that Carnival games, The games on Nintendo Switch are NOT just only for you, but for Casual gamers too.
Moaning for AAA titles from same developers was like Tantrum toddlers who are really want Ice cream and they will rolling on the floor with rage if they can't get Ice Cream. Just keep your head cool down. Playing video games it DOESN'T Always about Shooting peoples / Ultra violence / Typical same sport over and over again, etc. Where is Diversity of Game's genre if you keep expecting typical games like that ?
@Dizzy_Boy
Nintendo DIDN'T make something like that.
Even for LABO, you still Have to assemble the cardboards by yourself with guidance video.
There will NEVER any efforts from Nintendo to make their games played by themself without touching the video games.
This is NOT like on Wall-E.
@retro_player_22
If WWE 2K18 on Switch is anything to go by, I think I'd rather play Carnival games instead.
Or I could not play any of 2 games and get NBA 2K19 instead.
@Anti-Matter You really need to stop being so offended by people who don't like the same trash as you do, seriously.
@Mr_Pepperami And... the graphics. That's really what this is all about and uh
Booooooo.
@HobbitGamer
"Hey, It was fun enough for 9.5 million people the first time."
Sure, 9.5 million people who most likely play nothing besides mobile and PC games now.
@NatalieH it got my aging mother into games. Then she went on to play Mass Effect, Call of Duty, Twilight Princess. She’s playing Luigi’s Mansion on her DS now, I think. One example, sure. But statistically, it’s not the only one
@westman98 WWE 2K18 sucking means nothing but that the devs is just lazy and doesn't know how to take advantage of what the Switch could do. I had seen dev who made a bad game that got a good sequel on the same system and WWE 2K18 been bad on Switch doesn't mean WWE 2K19 would be if the dev took the time and effort to actually make it work. For example DBZ Legacy of Goku 1 sucks on GBA but that doesn't stop Legacy of Goku 2 from becoming of the best DBZ RPG on the same system and it was developed by the same dev as well. For them to skip the Switch with WWE 2K19 means they are either lazy or greedy or both.
@Anti-Matter it was sarcasm in medical terms, a “port” is a device implanted in the body to allow non-surgical things like some tubes for feeding or bags for eliminating waste. I work in medical industry, so I ran with it.
@Anti-Matter I’m starting to understand your English use more haha you are right, that we need diversity in titles offered in order to grow the base more.
@Kirby-in-Kirkby is that any different for another console, though? Seeing what a monetary slice of the pie would be, then putting a product out for that slice? Game companies aren’t friends, they’re a business that happen to make (sometimes) enjoyable products
@Dizzy_Boy ROB is coming back?! I think I just filled my bag!
@retroxdp Or Carnival Games online monthly subscription.
@Anti-Matter Agreed. I'm pretty easy to please with games in genres I like. I'm a sucker for Nintendo games and don't care if they are considered casual or not. I gess carnival games falls into this category. I must admit I draw the line with 1-2 switch tho. I find It ok. Fun to play with the younger ones tho.
@Paraka really? You "can't wait" for that? Sounds like a blast.
@Magician then buy another console.
@Anti-Matter if you like it, if it is your thing, buy it!! Don't tell the others what to do, grow up!!!!
@formulas666
You are actually need to grow up.
@gatorboi352 - I have other consoles, thanks for the suggestion though.
@Anti-Matter
I'm all for more good casual games... but this is, was, and forever will be shovelware, and open the floodgates to nothing but more of it.
@SmaMan
Well, yeah.
Not every Casual games i can accept.
Depend on the gameplay concept & Replay value.
@Anti-Matter
It is a bit SAD that the BIG 3rd Party Publishers don't support the SWITCH more..
Bethesda did OK with DOOM (340,000) and SKYRIM (890,000). And I'm sure WOLFENSTEIN II sales will come within the range of those two games. That's over 1 Million+ copies of games that they wouldn't have sold if they didn't port over.
by not supporting the SWITCH (even with their older games), they are missing out on an 'install base of about 18 million people.'
I guess they're doing so well right now that they're all willing to leave "free money on the table'
@moavi The big three? Do we even have those anymore after they ripped us off?
