LOL the Nintendo drones justifying this is hilarious. Yeah, because everybody absolutely hated the fact that Breath of the Wild had DLC. Who wanted to play more of that??
@Hyrule if you don't think Smash Switch was built HEAVILY upon the Wii U assets and engine, you are kidding yourself. Is it a straight port of Smash Wii U? No. But it's basically the Majora's Mask to Ocarina of Time. Same engine, same assets.
@PanurgeJr because it's just that, one game. And let's not kid ourselves. As popular as Smash is, it ain't Mario Kart popular.
But I'm more so speaking to these points:
Switch sell through is lower than expected in H1 2018 — Nintendo Labo launch was muted and isn't selling Switch hardware — Nintendo Switch Online service won't launch with a killer app — Strong competition from other Console, PC, Mobile games
Those aren't made up things. They are reality. 2018 already has Nintendo showing signs of their Wii U days in decision making and pacing.
@deKay I'd like to know how many people would have been doing this anyways? Sounds like a niche issue inflated by folks attempting to divert attention away from a disappointing Nintendo showing at E3 honestly.
@electrolite77 yeah but if you think about it, go back anfd look at the 3rd party releases for Wii U in it's first year and a half. It's pretty comparable.
@electrolite77 one thing we will see though, are the switch sales numbers coming down despite easily outpacing Wii U (I mean, what couldn't outpace the Wii U though?). Nintendo is back into the habit of two or three releases a year now, and without 3rd party support, the gaps will be there. Indie games only go so far.
Switch lining up to be the next wii u. Large gaps in releases with ever dwindling 3rd party support. Good thing you can take it on the go with you or else Nintendo may have been looking at another 13 million lifetime sales.
No MP4 is inexcusable after teasing the logo last year. I had a hunch that logo tease was a desperation attempt, and sure enough a year later that seems to be the case.
Fortnite to Switch? Ok yeah who cares? It's just like Minecraft to Wii U. Too little too late.
Guys. I get it. I was once hopeful as well. But let's be honest, man. This game is not coming to switch. Just accept that switch is the new wii, in that, it's the perfect secondary console.
AAA 3rd party offerings are best found elsewhere. Unlike Wii U, which housed 2 call of duties, the glorious Splintercell blacklist, and numerous other AAA content. Too bad it was called wii u and forced the god awful gamepad down everyone's throat yet couldn't take out of the same room
Ironically, the wii u still remains more feature full than switch to this day. Classic Nintendo.
"Why would you want to build a machine with handheld functionality - that operates in an always-connected world - and redirect voice communication to a secondary device. "
DeNA Partnership.
Ironically, you can plug a headset right into the Wii U GamePad and tadaaaa! voice chat. Some games didn't even require the headset.
@aaronsullivan "On the other hand a company that consistently creates successful and/or beloved games across genres may be evidence that Retro has a good culture that persists as employees come and go"
Consistently? They made 3 Metroid Primes back in the day (admittedly great titles, with MP2 up for debate) and a couple Donkey Kong Country titles. I mean that's it. Sure, DKC is great. But it's a damn 2D side scroller, man. How many companies in the last 10+ years have also made really good 2D side scrollers? So many.
@Moroboshi876 "Capcom is trying to hinder the Switch or what? Are they still afraid the console is not going to be successful?"
Neither. Capcom is a business and Nintendo's Switch cart situation is dumb and needlessly expensive.
People need to get over this "us vs. them" mentality against 3rd parties. They aren't out to "stick it" to ya or "gotcha". Generation after generation 3rd parties are simply dealing with Nintendo's blunders and missed opportunities.
Biggest takeaway for me is the fact that this just highlights yet another Retro employee that is no longer with Retro.
Just like Rare back in the GCN days, I do not understand everyone's obsession with Retro and what they're working on anymore. At this point it's just a company name.

Don't bother, it was lame.
Re: Panic Button Boss Says Another Major Switch Port Will Be Announced Next Month
Whatever it is, I hope it's actually a day 1 port. No more of these year old titles.
Re: Talking Point: What Were The Biggest Highs And Lows From E3 2018?
This E3 just reconfirmed my decision to give back the Switch I was given.

Labo!
Re: Review: Fortnite (Switch eShop)
Played a few rounds (at a silky 60fps btw) on the xbox what seems like years ago.
Not my thing.
Pretty hilarious though that they cut out the Save the World mode.
Re: Super Mario Party Will Feature Online Play With Friends, But Only For Minigames
@JTMnM the saddest part about this is that, people were saying almost the exact same sorts of things both back on Wii U and Wii.
Re: Nintendo Switch Now Has Over 700 Games
As Nintendo always says, quality not quantity!
Re: Nintendo Switch Now Has Over 700 Games
@Folkloner this is exactly why it disappoints me when Nintendo holds an E3 and showcases a single game for over half of it.
Re: Video: Analysing Fortnite's Frame Rate And Resolution On Switch
@Mrtoad oh, the irony here coming from a Nintendo fan.
Re: Conversations To Bring YouTube And Netflix To Switch Are "On-Going"
@Con1990 "I love the Switch as it is. Just games. Consoles do far too much now."
The justification spin is real with this one. We're talking Netflix and YouTube, dude.
Re: Sony's Share Value Takes A Hit Following Fortnite Account Woes On Nintendo Switch
Yeah, the lack of cross play is really hurting Sony's marketshare for sure.
If this isn't the purest definition of a nothingburger I don't know what is.
Re: Video: Analysing Fortnite's Frame Rate And Resolution On Switch
@Knuckles-Fajita know what's even more sad? PUBG not existing on switch.

@BAN stay mad bro 👌
Re: Nintendo's Share Price Plummets In Response To E3 Direct
@electrolite77 nah, it's definitely not doomed. But Nintendo needs to not let this 2018 slip spiral into something actually concerning in 2019.

@Hyrule k.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Will Run At 60fps In Both Docked And Handheld Modes
It damn well better. Even Smash Wii U ran 1080p @ 60 fps.

NINTENDO CANNOT HANDLE SUCCESS. They are allergic to it. It's all bearing itself out now though. Damn shame too. They just never learn.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Metroid Prime 4 Will Skip E3 2018
@JaxonH retro isn't working on any game. Also, you might be the only person in the world with 48 switch titles pre-ordered.
I don't even know if switch actually has 48 games capable of being pre-owned.
Re: Here's How Voice Chat Works In Fortnite On Nintendo Switch
Wait what? Why don't all games on switch do voice chat in this manner? Especially Nintendo developed games?

Big swing and a miss from Nintendo this year.

@ThanosReXXX yeah because moves like this really has hurt them.
Sony can do what they want, they're the market leader. Nintendo and MS are just trying to get in where they fit in.
