Update: After seeing fans' reactions to the leaked footage and screenshots of Crysis Remastered over the past couple of days, Crytek has announced that it will delay the game's launch on all platforms. The following message was shared to social media today (you can find our original article with the new Switch trailer and screenshots below):
Original Article: Following on from yesterday's leak, which gave us PC version screenshots and a new trailer, we now have our very first look at the upcoming Crysis Remastered running on Nintendo Switch.
A new version of that very same trailer has been released by Nintendo today, available to watch on the Switch eShop in select territories. While it'll all look pretty familiar if you watched yesterday's trailer, you'll notice that this time around, footage has been captured directly from the Switch version of the game. Make sure to check it out below.
We also have our first screenshots supposedly depicting the Switch version of the game, again thanks to the Switch eShop. We've collected them all for you below:
Pricing has now also been confirmed, again for select territories only, with the Switch version set to be priced at £26.99 / 29,99€ / $45 AUD.
What do you think? Will you be playing this on Switch? Let us know your thoughts with a comment below.

But why...? Who wants a 15 year old game that relies on performance on a handheld that's not made for performance? And for that price?
I built a gaming PC specifically to run Crysis back when it first came out. I maxed out everything. That PC was a screamer. It still completely choked on Crysis, especially toward the end. Pretty crazy that any version of this game will run on Switch.
Looks ok but $40? Nope
@spiderman0616 The Crysis engine was really poorly optimized. I can easily see the game running much better on just about anything with either proper engine reworking or even by porting the game to another compatible engine.
@Onkel_Laser you may have answered your own question if you think about it a bit.
imagine when the original fried even the best PCs somebody would have told us that this game would eventually run on a handheld.
insanity
Was there a big demand for this? It looks good but seems random...
-I'm expecting hundreds of Digital Foundry analysis videos though, they'll be excited for this
Looks good and the price is right. Now for the reviews.
I'm going to compare the PC version to the Switch version and make my decision from there. I have a high end RTX enabled gaming laptop, but if it doesn't look like it's much of a graphical improvement, I'll get the Switch version.
I always found this game average. Yes it looks good even today but the gameplay is kinda meh
@Kimyonaakuma That's the other thing--it wasn't that great of a game in the first place. Much like the original FarCry, it started out great, but you could tell they either ran out of gas or ran out of time at the end. Crytek was never great at their game endings.
looks like another ark... that looks rough
I'm stoked for this! Judging by the footage, it looks really good. I see now fluid aiming movements that would suggest gyro-aiming though :/.
This is not the worst idea port I’ve seen. Loved the original. It’s never been on a nintendo console before so gives the game a chance on a new crowd. That’s what they always say though
It looks quite good.
@spiderman0616 the first 2/3rds of the game is pretty cool, at least
Hahaha... "Pre-oder now!"...
I can't see information about gyro controls anywhere which isn't too encouraging. Without them it'd be literally unplayable for me. Although it's not something I'm likely to find time for anyway even with good controls.
@Onkel_Laser As someone who never played the original and only plays games on the Switch now, I will definitely check it out.
@Savino That I can agree with. The multiplayer was so good. I seem to remember playing it quite a bit.
Actually really like the original Crysis. Really underrated gameplay to go with its graphics. The first one was actually really solid.
I may pick this up. Probably not at launch because $30 and I'm already neck-deep in games, but in a month or two it should drop to 10-20 and it may be a nice pickup.
It's never bad to have an excess of games. That way you always have something to play and always some cheap games to pick up on sale when they get cheap
if its around $30 US, I don't see why not. Seems like reasonable pricing
Can't wait! This looks like a good time, and $30 seems reasonable.
I nearly spat my drink from my mouth when I read that price point! £26?!?! The game contains no Warhead expansion, isn't that significant an upgrade from the PS3 port, is a decade old game and they're charging £26! Pull the other one Crytek.
Still looks like the ps3 version and charging £26 is a joke, definitely a bargain bin game.
Pretty impressive stuff. Saber do good work.
But can it run Crysi- WOOOOOOOOAH.
On a serious note, milder interest about this one, but I'll keep an eye out for it nonetheless.
@Onkel-Laser ah, another "why port games to Switch" question. Still unemployed, or still blessed with a sparing work schedule for now?
Thatll be a day one for me boss. Love the original. Cant wait to destroy the sandbox again.
£27??! .... I’ll wait. Crikey
30 euro's? I'll bite! 100% was expecting it to be full price, but for that price an awesome shooter is a steal if it runs great!
And this trailer looks good (for Switch, not when you compare it to Xbox One, but what to expect).
Crysis on the toilet baby!
Looks awesome. I've always wanted to play the series but somehow never got around to it. If this version has gyro support, I'll definitely buy it.
@Rika_Yoshitake
Anyone who says something like "Looks like ARK on Switch!" is saying that JUST to bait and troll, because this looks NOWHERE near as bad as ARK on Switch does.
My biggest issue with this game was how foliage did squat with regards to camo and thus your optical camo was your only option, that would automatically disable when you so much as sneezed. This game needed silent takedowns; even if using one drained a large chunk of battery.
Like many others on this comment thread I also take issue with Switch remaster pricing. I'm sorry, but it isn't justified charging high prices for a port of a 10+ year old game, porting a game is a slither of the cost of developing a new one, pure greed
I’m so in. This is day 1 material unless the FPS makes it unplayable.
i think i'll stick with the pc version
The characters faces don´t look really good, but the environments are stunning, and it seems to run very well. Playing this on handheld must be glorious.
@Onkel_Laser So don't buy it
I know all consoles get ports of older games from time to time but what is the deal with switch and all these old games? It's gotta be at an unprecedented rate at this point.
I'm pretty excited about this. I'm also wondering if there will be a physical release, and if everything will be on the cartridge if one is released... I know I'm hoping for too much, but it would be so incredible if they have a performance mode that runs at 60fps! Grid has it!
Oh I’m DEFINITELY buying this. I had it way back in the day but never actually beat it or played it much. I can use something like this right about now though as I don’t have any first person shooters except for that new Duke Nukem or Doom on Switch. I’ll get this and then XIII to round it all out.
They (Saber) probably read my comment and decided to delay the release so they could implement a 60fps performance mode! Right? Highly likely!
And that price does not include WarHead 🙄
I can play my old PC copy on the GO over Shadow - good enough. I'll give you $60 for a good new Crysis game.
@Onkel_Laser yeah the price is madness 5 maybee 10 at a push
@Onkel_Laser yes and no
The original game relies on 1 core and 1 thread CPU, back then the dev taught that in the future the CPUs goes up in speed (GHZ) and not in cores (back then it did look to go that route, but in the end we went the more efficient core route)
The remaster uses a newer engine that does utilize multiple cores, so it should be able to run fine on PS4, Xbox One and Switch (all 3 have low clock CPUs)
I will get this if there’s a sensible physical version
Game footage: leaks
Team Crysis: Thank you for the feedback guys we will delay the release so we can improve things.
Pokémon Company: we won't fix any issues, we'll introduce even more and also we will hunt down the leakers.
Something about this looks off. Frame rate doesn’t look consistent at all, and it feels like the trailer is hiding something because it was changing footage literally every 1.5 seconds.
That footage looks doctored in some way. I just have a feeling that the footage shown is not going to be how it looks when it's released on the Switch version.
Not sure about this looks good but I find FPS fiddly on my switch lite xx
@SpaceKaren It’s because it takes immense compromises to run modern games on the Switch. Look at all the downgrades that Doom and Witcher 3 had to have just to run on the system. Look at Panzer Dragoon that takes 70 seconds to load a stage, meanwhile on the Saturn it takes a tenth of that time, and that’s a disc based system from the Stone Age!
The Switch is the system of compromises. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Switch, but I do not have any high expectations of it going forward.
I mixed up Feral Interactive with Saber. Feral did Grid, while Saber did Switcher.
Looks great!!!
Day one buy from me. I have a high end gaming pc, but this game i want to play on the go, on my switch.
HOLD ON HERE! You telling me this trailer and those leaked photos were for the Switch version? And people complained? This looks actually too ***** good to be on the Switch, in terms of Switch standard. And the performance from what little we can see, looks extremely good. I will easily buy this for Switch. Almost embarrassing how much better this looks and "Might" run on Switch compared to the dreadful port of Outer Worlds. Also, this means that we haven't seen the PC version, yet people are mad. Omfg...
@TAndvig my thoughts exactly. I was ready to buy off of watching that trailer.
@Onkel_Laser People who didn't have the money to build a monster PC, and never played it? Who prefer console / handheld gaming and think 30 is a fair price? (I'll wait for a sale, but besides that, I'm definitely part of that target audience)
Who'd buy DOOM3 on Switch? Me, for the same reason (and their price was fair, their sales price was a no-brainer). I'd buy several old games for such a price in a heartbeat again on Switch, like the Riddick games, a Splinter Cell collection,... (I think I just have a soft spot for the hard dynamic lighting they used in those days, and as with movies, I'd often rewatch a good movie from the past on blu ray because I know I liked it, rather than a modern piece for a modern audience - which doesn't necessarily mean I'll dislike it).
@Anguspuss lol what? There's np way they'd make their money back at that price.
I like the look of this. Blown away by the quality graphics on a ‘handheld’.
Looks great so far. I'm fine with the delay if it means getting it to run even better.
@SpaceKaren Have you seen the list of HD remasters on PS3? It makes a lot of sense from a business perspective, and brings a lot of classic games to a new audience, or to fans that like seeing them get updated. Not saying I wouldn't like a couple more new games, or prefer the "HD COLLECTION" treatment, where 2-3 games were updated, bundled, and fully physically released at a price below the cost of any of them separately upon their respective release...
@Onkel_Laser Folks like myself that never played it on PC. 😀
I'm loving e forward to it.
@pip_muzz,
Well, £26 is still much more reasonable than what EA charges for the Burnout Paradise remaster, which is a 12 year old game, for $65 over here, which would be almost £40. THAT is insane.
But are we really surprised? I'm not. Plenty of games get released on Switch with a higher price than everywhere else for absolutely no reason other than people buying anyway...
I don't think £26 is SO bad. I personally would prefer a bit less, but it's not the worse. If it runs well, it could be almost worth it IMO. But that's me.
Meh. If Doom runs, Crysis ought to.
I think it will go down better this way. A release date wasn't even officially announced, yet it was gonna launch so soon? Then I guess the game is technically ready, but will have extra time to upgrade the rendering.
The leaked trailer looked quite impressive, but not enough for a CryEngine game. Maybe what fans want to see is something along the lines of this fan-made facelift:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MP0CUSPOAQ
To people whining about the 40 dls tag....porting a game of this type is not easy. It takes time, manpower and money. 40 dls i actually the standard and is good enough.
And even if it was 10 dls (which is absurd) you'll find something to complain.
This looks bloody great on Switch! Anyone who says differently is incapable of appreciating visuals in the context of the hardware running it. Unless they genuinely think the Switch could do better...in which case, maybe they should apply to Sabre. They obviously know something they don't lol. Seriously, this is certainly no Ark!
@pip_muzz Right? The Switch version is 100% going to be the De-Mastered one, so that price point is not worth it at all. Plus, the original is on sale for $5 right now on Steam, and that is guaranteed to run better than the Switch offering. Crytek is just trying to sell the same stuff with a different label at a higher price.
@GrailUK While I agree with your point, the video was alternating between different footage at different moments. They even labeled the parts “captured on actual Switch” and then removed the label when it was playing a cutscene that was obviously on more powerful hardware. Pretty interesting marketing tactic, but at least they are being honest that the Switch version is going to be technically inferior to the other ports.
The side-by-side comparison that they accidentally showed us is proof that the Switch version is going to come with some compromises, as per usual on these higher end games. Crysis - Demastered will be the Switch version. All the other consoles and PC will be the remastered version, that’s my guess!
@TG16_IS_BAE this.
@TG16_IS_BAE You maybe right (probably are lol) but as a Switch player, I have no value in what the other versions have and the Switch doesn't. I want to know if it's a good game on Switch.
@GrailUK I want to know, as well, I'm just setting my expectations low due to how they had to butcher the Witcher 3 to get it onto the Switch lol!
@DK-Fan The point being it's already been ported... Several years ago for a cheaper price tag with what looks like exactly the same graphics. I see no difference between the screenshots for the "Remastered" version and the one I paid £16 (£10 cheaper) on PS3 around 6-8 years ago.
I get the portability of switch being a bonus, but that doesn't mean we should let companies get away with taking the piss out of us.
@DK-Fan It's $5.00 for the (arguably) better version on Steam. It's normal price is $15-$20. When the company decides to sell their game on other platforms for the cost of a Starbucks coffee, it makes you wonder why they are charging so much for the Switch version, which is the technically inferior version to begin with. It also sets an expectation and it sets a perceived value.
So no, if I had a choice between $5 bucks or $40, I'm choosing $5, especially when I know that the $5 version is 100% the better version. I don't have to play every game on the go, lol!
@TG16_IS_BAE
Whoooooa, cool story brah! 🤙
@GrailUK
I don't think that stupid Ark comment was meant to be taken seriously to be fair.
@gameboy1975 Fair enough
Tell ya what. I respect a company that delays instead of release and patches. Shows integrity and pride in what they make.
@gameboy1975 lol
This does not belong on this system. I am only holding hope because saber interactive is working on it. I love this game and will likely take the plunge just to see how it runs ( I say this with too many switch ports lol)
@TAndvig lol we have seen the other versions first
Is there multiplayer?
@Shambo "People who didn't have the money to build a monster PC, and never played it?"
The game came out on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, though; it hasn't been a PC exclusive for the past decade.
@joezilla83 No we haven't. The only leaked footage or showing was the leaked footage a few days ago or whenever it was. And that was from this trailer most likely. No confirmation. So no, that is not a "fact".
Ok 😂 it's $5 on steam now have fun
This trailer reminds me of how much more I enjoyed the FPS genre was then than I do now.
@joezilla83 the remastered edition, really? I didn't know it came out on PC already, I thought it was also delayed there.
Ah no, you're just trolling, ok...
Hopefully the delay make it looks and run better and not disappoint unlike Bloodstained, Star Wars Episode 1: Racers, and the Outer Worlds. Three games that were delay on Switch but still came out worst.
@yuwarite I wasn't sure which games in the series made it to console, I believed it was only 2 and 3, but apparently was wrong about that. Even then, not everyone has played it, and a simple console port may not have won everyone over. My main platform back then was the Wii, my ps3 (much like my ps2 before and ps4 after) was only bought years after its release, to get the rare games I really wanted at a low price, and watch movies. So I skipped most games on it, and went for a few exclusives, the good horror games, the hidden gems, and some of the HD collections of great games I skipped on the ps2. And not everyone had one of those either. Now, DOOM3 is a technical marvel on the Switch, like SNES games were great for GBA. And this one is no different if it runs well. Even though I've been used to playing fps games with a controller, since the Switch's portability and gyro aiming, I've enjoyed them much more. And as long as people want it and no one gets hurt because of them wanting it, I'd say release every game that ever existed and can easily be ported on Switch, just don't charge insane amounts of money for it. (€30 for 1 old game is pushing it though, 20-to-40-ish for a fully physical release of a series of games with updated graphics and controls seems quite fair)
Sorry Crytek, but Switch owners already have a game all about shooting squid, and it actually controls well unlike this.
This is too expensive and there are better games out now.
@Rika_Yoshitake You're joking right? ARK on the switch is an abomination. This looks a million times better, i wish ARK for switch even looked half as good as this!!
@frogopus Whats one more for the backlog??...well alot. lol. My backlog is massive. But I'll probably be adding this to it. XD
@the_beaver trolling for sure but updated my thoughts today. Don't act like you never had an opinion ya dosser! lol
@joezilla83 what the hell are you talking about...?
@the_beaver things your feeble little mind cannot comprehend.
