I don't know, nothing about the trailer got me excited, but I'll let the reviews come out before I look much more at it. If the reviews speak of it as more than yet another "hardcore platformer" that has something novel to its gameplay, great, because the trailer didn't do that. Besides, once upon a time indies made great 2D platformers and put them out there for free, like Jumper, Cave Story, etc. so when you charge for it, it better be amazing.
I regrettably had to wait for the humble bundle to get it, but for anyone wondering if it's worth full price, I say yes! I had a lot of fun with it, the puzzles are all a work of genius during the Technical adventure mode. I played single player, and almost gave up on a couple of puzzles, but in the end I figured it all out without a guide.
The way the game eases you into learning how to control the ship is perfectly paced, not to mention you routinely encounter situations that force the player to work out quirky ways to use the controls to avoid enemies or withstand the environment.
Landing gear even factors into it a lot - the gamepad IS your instrument panel; it's highly immersive by design and so well done. It's a physics puzzler mixed with space travel, with good old fashioned adventure forming the foundation of it all.
The miiverse part is worth having the internet function turned on, heh.
I became a believer in Pinball Arcade back on Wii with the Williams collection. Knowing that these are all based on the real thing, it's just too incredible (along with the accurate pinball physics) to pass that up and opt for a fantasy pinball experience, but that's just me.
Also, I noticed that recently they added a way to input a code to get your coins. Most likely, we are going to see physical games have a code insert, at least on NX.
Anyone else think gold coins should never expire? The 6 month expiration thing is going to really mess some people up...
The Wii U digital deluxe program they did was honestly a lot better.
@BensonUii That's true, but I was coming up with a quick example. I know Nintendo would never be that generous, or they would have to severely alter the current methods for generating coins. Or switch platinum for gold in my example, whatever.
At this point, I'd like to see some way to spend some platinum coins (it can be a lot, like 1000 plat coins) and redeem them for a $10 eshop gift card code. 15%-30% off these games is not ever going to be that interesting when I already own most of them. The special games like Zelda Picross are nice but if they only have one of those each year or so, I can say right now that the old club nintendo rewards setup was better. At least I had a reason to check that every month.
Yeah, something about the description of this game makes it sound pretty fun, but there's no way I'd get it until they fix the unstable performance and other issues reported in the review.
I loves me some Zelda demo goodness, Nintendo. Too bad I'm still very disappointed overall in the Wii U to get too excited. Glad it's coming out, though, I bought a Wii U for Zelda U (and was counting on a real Metroid console game, but turns out that wasn't in their plans at all).
Knowing Nintendo, this is a special controller that will work for only one game, will cost $99, and the game it works for will be Pokemon or Urban Champion: Arm Wrestling Saga.
Quite possibly the best puzzle game ever invented!!!
For the doubters, there's no guessing involved here. The rules of Picross 3D always let you logically deduce every step to the puzzle, so even if you feel you are stuck and have to guess, it's your fault because this isn't possible if you found every clue.
The total number of puzzles you get and the fun animations (not to mention the inclusion of a random mode where you have a lot of control over the difficulty level), it's such a generous package for a cheap price.
If it's just lame digital clothing rewards, I'm keeping my coins. Will stop hibernating if some digital games get added, however. I hope we see some real excitement soon from this new rewards system or else I might just forget it exists. See ya.
I'll just throw a curveball and suggest everyone buy Picross 3D for DS. If you don't have it, it will last you forever and is a brilliantly evolved version of 2d picross.
Glitches that people won't ever find on their own playing the game normally are the best kind. They help sequence breakers and people looking to spice up replaying the game but do not hurt the game if you're just playing as the devs intended.
It's not free just because there's an illegal dump of it accessible to you. You don't own a license to play it on any platform just because you once bought it on SNES, either.
That said, only you can prevent forest fires. It's an honor system.
I stated fake from the beginning but when the better photos came out, I wasn't as sure, but still felt the design wasn't true to what Nintendo would do. So, take that as you will, but I basically never believed it.
Not buying a single of one of these...mainly because I still won't upgrade to New 3DS from my MM3D XL, lol. Had I decided to upgrade for Xenoblade (I don't really need that game as a portable experience) I doubt I could resist buying EarthBound and Super Metroid. Shame on Nintendo for not at least offering a discount if you already own these on Wii U, that's a really annoying business practice that is turning off everyone from trusting the virtual console from now on.
Anybody else really skeptical about the concept of a procedurally made shmup? Guess I'll have to wait for reviews first to see what others think about it.
This is sad news. Very sad, but his work is and will always be appreciated if gamers keep playing in his honor. The 3D Classics he helped with brought me a ton of joy.
You shouldn't judge what native running games can do by how it emulates psx stuff but that's your choice. I just think it's next to meaningless to do so. New 3DS is clearly better hardware than PSP but doesn't emulate PSX as well and it doesn't mean that native games suffer for it. Xenoblade 3DS shouldn't exist if you use this video as something to go by, basically.
People jump to Nintendo's defense here because their right to copyright protection is something we should all respect and support. This guy could come up with slightly new characters and avoid directly copying. Come on, let your creativity work and stand on its own. Nintendo might have been copying King Kong a bit with DK (though as it turned out in court they were in the right and not guilty of copying) but they made something new out of it so it was all good in the end.
I imported this as I just couldn't wait any longer. If you loved Picross 3D, you can't ignore picking this one up, it's great. Also, no, I don't read Japanese but this game is pretty easy to navigate without having to understand the text. Also, having played the original, I know the rules of the game.
Nintendo will only do something that is affordable so that they can guarantee profit from each sold. VR, as it is headed now, isn't at that point for Nintendo to take the risk, IMO.
At least it seems that when they do put out something for 3DS, I perceive it as a real attempt at something and not Wii ware quality shovelware. That's my perception, at least. Basically, as long as it attracts interest from people that care about making good games, I'm happy.
I bought and loved them on 3DS, but I also loved the 3D graphics. Can't get that on my Wii U, so I just haven't found a reason yet to buy this HD release. The graphics aren't really going to benefit from HD in this case, I would think, but I could be wrong.

Re: Video: A Look at Five of the Worst Mario Boss Fights
I hated just about every boss fight in 3D World. It was all so generic and then the last boss was such an anticlimactic event.

Picross is of course really great stuff for puzzle lovers but this Zelda themed version is a treat for the great Zelda music and Midna sounds.

Clearly this was said with some sarcasm but it still bothered me to read it. Zelda II, great but very different.
Oh, and the controller not being gold kills this for me. I NEED THE CONTROLLER TO BE GOLD.
