Re: Anniversary: amiibo Have Been Draining Our Bank Accounts For Five Years Now

I have all but a few of the Smash amiibos, and I've been collecting since Day 1ish? I do kind of miss the days of lining up hours before a store opens in rain, and in blizzards (Rosalina), and in -20F temps (Meta Knight.) I honestly never saw myself getting caught up in the collecting of these when they first came out, but as a life long Nintendo fan, it was nice having these little collectables representing characters that normally wouldn't get figures or statues. While I do miss standing in lines, and the "social" atmosphere these early launches had, I am also glad the hype has died down enough now that I can just reserve the new ones online, and have them delivered or pick up at the store. Not many other game/toy companies can get their fan base riled up to the point of standing in line for hours like Nintendo can, and I love that about them.

Re: Reggie Calls Wii U A "Failure Forward" Because It Led To Switch

I really loved the WiiU, but even after it launched I could tell it was going to be a bust with the general public. All my friends who had Wii's, and their parents who also had Wii's (mainly for Wii Sports) said, "we're not buying another Wii when we already have one." It was a mistake to use the "Wii" name in the title. It caused general confusion with the casual or lapsed gamer who came back to the Wii because it was the causal "family" system. I loved the WiiU, but I'm glad Nintendo recognized it was a bust early on, and we got the Switch as soon as we did.

Re: Aladdin And The Lion King Are Reportedly Being Remastered For Switch

Never played Lion King on either system. I was a staunch believer that Genesis version of Aladdin was the better of the two games, until recently. I played the SNES version again, and I found it a much more enjoyable game. Way better platformer than the Genesis game. I think I was taken by the "cartoony" graphics and music of the Genesis game back in the day, but the SNES holds up in the area, but I found it was way more fun to play. But don't get me wrong, I still really like the Genesis version, but I like the SNES version just as much now.

Adventures of Link was the first game I ever pre-ordered. From the JC Penny catalog. Man, that seems like a lifetime ago before the Internet. haha. But I remember being somewhat disappointed with this sequel after loving every second of the first Zelda game. I completed it, but I never went back to it like I did with Zelda 1, and the many of the other sequels. It wasn't until I replayed it on the Wii eshop and 3DS eshop that I really grew to love this game, and appreciate it for what it was. I think it still gets a bad wrap. I would love to see this game remade much in the way Metroid 2 was remade.

Re: Video: Cricket 19 Trailer Shows Off New Gameplay And A First-Person Mode

As an American, I am totally ignorant on the sport. I have no idea how it's played or scored. I recently thought I would play an old SNES Cricket game, and as I started playing it I was even more confused. haha. I really am interested in learning about it, but maybe going blindly into a video game (with no instruction manual) wasn't the best way to learn? haha.

Re: Nintendo Has “Nothing New” To Announce For 3DS In Terms Of First-Party Game Releases

Still my preferred way to play handheld games. Love the Switch, but I play mainly docked. The 3DS has one of the biggest and best game libraries on any system. Even after getting off to a rocky start, it's become one of the most versatile and long lasting systems that's ever been produced. I still have so many games I haven't even played on it yet, that I will eventually get to. It might be "dead" but I won't be done playing on it for years to come.

Must be nice to be super rich off your country's back while not doing anything to deserve it. Other than weddings, is this the only way the royals can stay relevant by talking out their ass about a subject he has no first hand knowledge about? Typical.

Re: Guide: Every Nintendo Console Ranked From Worst To Best

@Gorfvic20 Thanks! I get why the Gamecube still gets love. It was probably the first Nintendo console of the majority of the readers on here. So I get that. I loved the N64 when it came out, but as I was just reminded by the PS Classic, mid-90's polygon graphics don't hold up well, and I don't think the N64 holds up that well either. The NES and SNES have held the test of time to the point just about every indie company is copying the look of those early games. Those two systems have had the biggest impact on the video game industry.

Switch might end up being #1 over time, but hasn't had the cultural impact the NES or SNES had, not even the Wii (still #1 in retirement homes. haha) Maybe in 30 years we'll look back on the Swtich with as much nostalgia as we do with the NES and SNES, but I doubt we'll be buying a Switch Mini down the road.

Thinking it over, and since my list is just as valid as the authors, and maybe more so since I own everyone one of these, and was alive during the launch of each of these. Here's my list.
1. SNES
2.NES
3. Switch
4. Gamecube
5. 3DS
6. Wii
7. N64
8 DS
9. GBA
10. Game Boy
11. WiiU
12. Game Boy Color (even though I don't consider it a different system than the Game Boy)
13. Virtual Boy

Re: Guide: Every Nintendo Console Ranked From Worst To Best

The NES being #11 is a joke. It's the most influential system of the last 30 years. Without the NES there wouldn't be a 2nd video game boom. I would flip the NES and WiiU at least. The WiiU was a fart in church, and I like the WiiU, but it was the Wii's stepchild.
