Cricket 19 is just days away from launching on Nintendo Switch and a brand new trailer has just been released to showcase some of the gameplay elements you can expect to enjoy.
Said to include "stunning" new features, Cricket 19 is aiming to be the deepest and richest simulation of the sport to date. The video above shows off the game's improved visuals, snippets of gameplay, and also gives us a look at the first-person view option, which is apparently available throughout entire matches.
The game launches on Switch on 28th May both digitally and physically - although, when we say 'physically', we mean that a download code is provided in a box. You can see what this looks like at the end of the video above.
Are you a cricket fan? Will you be picking this up on Switch next week? Tell us below in the usual place.

FINALLY!! Omg I've been waiting for this game for so long!
@RazumikhinPG Dude! What the hell my sarcasm detector app just malfunctioned. I've lost all my progress and I was just 2% away from my Bill Hicks badge.
Code in box.
Code in box.
It’s a code in box baby.
Avoid
@LavaTwilight I'm known to crash many sarcasm detector apps
cricket sounds
All about some cricket for the summer!
Cricket is loved and played all over the world. Don’t diss this game please. I remember playing a SNES cricket game and a Brian Lara game back in the day. They were a lot of fun. I hope this does well mainly so that niche products like this can continue to exist. I’ll definitely pick it up at some point.
Not sure about the first-person view but it's an interesting concept
I had no idea there were games for this. I mean, I shouldn't be surprised, but I can't recall if I have ever noticed one before.
Would like a good cricket game. Last one I actually enjoyed was Brian Lara Cricket '96 on the Mega Drive. Had a couple of more modern 3D ones but they are always bugfests with all kinds of odd physics related mishaps.
@BionicDodo well, if it’s anything like the last ashes title, it’ll be pretty good.
As an American, I am totally ignorant on the sport. I have no idea how it's played or scored. I recently thought I would play an old SNES Cricket game, and as I started playing it I was even more confused. haha. I really am interested in learning about it, but maybe going blindly into a video game (with no instruction manual) wasn't the best way to learn? haha.
The "DOWNLOAD CODE - NO GAME CARD INCLUDED" on top of the physical box will cut their Switch sales in half if not more.
I thought we were supposed to be cutting down on plastic waste as we are killing the planet with it, and then this...
@Alpha008 Thanks for the info, will keep an eye on it if this is the same dev.
@Bunkerneath Insane isn't it?! At least a game that requires a partial download can be resold as the card holds the 'license'. This is the most pointless idea I have heard of in recent times.
Can you believe there were no cricket games for the N64 at all?
Current generation wins this round.
Why cant we have a decent Baseball or Football sim? I seriously am not a big fan of these but I might buy them.
@Bunkerneath absolute joke, what are the odds on the store being more expensive than the plastic waste option.
@NintendoFan4Lyf That's cool you actually got to get hands on trying to learn it though. My only basis of knowledge about it is from watching Monty Python skits. haha. Again, probably not the best way to learn. haha.
It is crazy. We have no American Football games on Switch, but we have soccer, baseball, and now cricket. It blows my mind. And hell, I may even buy the cricket game. Never looked into the sport, but why not.
@delt75 I’d enjoyed watching NFL highlights for years but only when I bought Madden 64 did I actually learn the rules!
Hopefully a cricket game could do the same for you?!
@Eddsnake I think I just need to look a manual online for the SNES game I played to see what buttons do what. I might be able to get a better grasp of it if I knew what to press. haha
Does it support cheating? Sandpaper, lollies, all the good stuff?
If not, it's not cricket ... And it's certainly not the ashes
I'm keen for a decent cricket hit out on the Switch. Looks promising and just in time for the World Cup and Ashes
Looks promising. Might give it a go if it reviews well.
What the heck is cricket? Lol
I assume it will be available from the Nintendo eShop?
