Update: Fortnite is well and truly back, folks! You can now go ahead and enjoy the game's 'Chapter 2' on Nintendo Switch and other platforms; Epic Games has now uploaded the new trailer in an official manner (which you can check out above).
Original Article: Well, what do you know? It looks like Fortnite is safe and sound after all. The shock.
Yes, after the game literally evaporated into a black hole over the weekend, throwing its huge fanbase into chaos and confusion, it would appear that things will be returning to normal in the not-too-distant future. A new patch has become available to download on various platforms, and while any content it brings isn't actually accessible to play just yet, it does suggest that we won't have to wait too much longer.
On top of this, two new trailers which appear to have been planned to launch alongside the new update have been leaked ahead of time. As had been rumoured just before the black hole took over, the videos seem to show a brand new island with new characters, weapons, activities, rewards, and much more. We could well be looking at the biggest change the game has seen to date.
In case you're concerned about your V-Bucks and other items successfully making it over to Chapter 2, don't worry. Nintendo has assured fans that your in-game goodies are safe.
Are you excited to see what a new-look Fortnite will offer? Will you be dropping in for Chapter 2 - Season 1? Tell us below.

ooh surprise its coming back!!.....said no one ever!
I must admit. It's been hilarious watching all the fans of this freak out that they can't play their one game.😁
"leaked", yeah, or released early since they probably didn't predict how many [language] would actually think the game is gone forever and freak out at several companies hotlines. never underestimate the bulging intelligence of fortnite players folks.
I havent played it in ages tbh never been hugely into it but its good fun to play. Im definitely not hooked,I had actually forgotten about it until all this hoo hah
@SpaceboyScreams Lol did you write it like that as a workaround?
@SpookyPotato was thinking exactly the same.
@SpaceboyScreams HA HA HA HA HA, yes!
Literally "I'm too old for this fecalmatter".
Oh wow! I'm soooo happy that it's come back. It felt like AGES since I played it even though it was only one weekend and Once it went black, I felt like my life was over! Woo is me. I'm so happy that it's finally back up so I can ignore it again.
If you need me, I'll be playing Overwatch.

It should have been down for a fortnight - do you see what I did there?!
I only play this with my friends because it's the only thing I can play w/them so I don't play often but this actually looks cool.
Looking forward to playing a new island. I must say, I really liked how this all played out. I've enjoyed this game way more than I ever thought I would and it's my go to game when I just want to unwind.
I actually liked that trailer, Might give this another spin tonight!
I have never played a single game of Fortnite but you really do have to hand it to them, the way the Developer keeps things fresh and keeps players interested and engaged is really extremely impressive. In a world of cynical microtransactions at least here we seem to have a game that is actually earning it's money.
(I stand to be corrected of course but this is the impression I get as an outside observer)
Nice, will jump back in today.
If Fortnites so great then why isn't there a Fortnite Tw.........they did it.....they actually did it.....
@patbacknitro18 If Fortnite 2 is so great, why isn't there a Fortnite 9 like for Asphalt? -Mic drop-
@Dakotastomp I'll get back to you in like 15 years
@presenttense I can see it now: riots in the streets, Epic's market value tanks, Twitter goes nuclear, other games get the spotlight for once and - by the time it finally comes back - Fortnite is quietly forgotten about in favor of some new F2P fad.
Oh.... if only we were so lucky...
Oh cool, I’m excited to try out the new map 😁
It actually looks legit! Good on them. I don't have a lot of gaming time anymore but I do wanna try this out with my cousin. It's a better online experience than Splatoon 2 or any other first party game just because online chat doesnt completely suck.
They should have waited longer to announce it coming back. I know it might annoy some fans, but it would have made it more impactful. They should have waited... 2 weeks, perhaps? 😂
Exciting! I'll look the new stuff soon!
But the game now weights 14GB on Switch. I'll need a Micro SD Card soon.
@kalosn after this update it just says total size 7.5GB in data management so it's not 14GB
@CodyMKW I just checked it and it now says 7.5GB. But when I was updating it its file sized doubled to 14GB. That's quite strange.
The game's lighting is now looking better than ever, however.
This game could have stayed gone.
Dang... I downloaded Fortnite at least a year ago and still haven't played it. I was hoping to start it up while the black hole thing was going, not be able to play, then delete it from my Switch forever. THAT'LL teach the people on my friend list who constantly ask me if I play Fortnite. Or, it would have. Oh well, I guess I'll just continue not playing or deleting it forever.
I can’t get Fortnite to play on switch since this update.
All I have is a black icon with Fortnite only coming visible when clicked.
However when clicked the game give back error code 2002-0007
I’ve run the corrupted data check and re downloaded the game but it stays the same.
I went to delete it this evening and it wouldn’t delete and it gave me the same error code of 2002-0007.
Anyone else had this issue?
