I might pick some of thies up.
I have many Arcade Archive games on my wish list. Most of them never go on sale. This a good start, but it would be nice to see more discounts.
Most of the Arcade Archive titles are too expensive to buy individually. They need a one-time game play available for a quarter.
Arcades, after all, are the original micro-transactions.
I've been waiting for Last Blade 2 but that one hasn't got a discount.
There's a lot of other Arcade Archives I'm looking forward to being on sale. I'm just glad they are starting to finally go on sale-- They've been on my wishlist forever.
No review for Moon Cresta? Pull your finger out NL!
I had already bought Aero Fighters 2, Metal Slug X and Crazy Climber in a prior sale.
Me in 1982: "This game 'Crazy Climber' is so weird! Two joysticks??
2021: every controller has two joysticks...
@andyg1412 Noted! I'll pass this on.
@Tandy255 Indeed. They're just outside impulse buy range and the games I want are never discounted, so I don't have many of them.
I have most of these and the ones that I don’t have do not interest me.
good that they are doing sales! HAMSTER is awesome for bringing all these classics!
The sale is in Europe but you post prices in Pounds?
Here's a fun fact: Pounds are only used in UK and most countries in Europe use Euro
Why is Psycho Pig UXB not on sale?!? 🐷💣
@dojmin To be fair, this site is based in the UK.
I grabbed Terra Force because I love Nichibutsu shooters such as Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta. Used to play ZX Spectrum ports of them way back in the 80's. This one is not as great as the two mentioned above, however, or maybe it just does not bring any memories since I didn't know it as a kid.
@dojmin Could be because it's a British website and they probably have more British readers as people from other European countries likely have websites specifically for their regions (written in their native language) they visit more often. Most people seem to be British and American in the comments but I could be wrong. It would be handy for them to include Euro prices in addition though for sure.
@BionicDodo I understand. But imagine saying "The sale is in USA" and then post all the prices in euro or pounds or Australian dollars
@dojmin They are on sale in Europe too.
@dojmin But the UK is still a European country. It’s just not in the EU. (No comment on that.) And this site is based in Britain and written in English. It also doesn’t list prices in kronor or Swiss francs. If it was written in French and listed only sterling, yep, that would be weird.
That said, of course it would be nice to include the euro price. For anglophone readers in Ireland, if nothing else!
@dojmin It's not really like that though as the UK is part of Europe. This is a UK site and the UK is covered by Nintendo of Europe and games are only on sale on the UK store when they go on sale on all European eShops. I agree that they should probably stick prices up in Dollars, Pounds and Euros though.
Highly recommend Metal Slug X and Aero Fighters 2.
I’m tempted by Fatal Fury 3 and the two other shmups on offer, are they any good?
Three pounds is a little too far outside of impulse buying territory for old roms, even for the good ones I already own.
Got myself Crazy Climber as I've wanted that for a long time.
Definitely not dissapointed with it. Love the little tunes and the graphics that are actually really good for a 1980 game IMO.
The controls I've haven't quite mastered yet, but at least I've figured out how to go up (alternate between left stick up/right stick down and left stick down/right stick up)
Picked up Last Resort last night forgot how tough it is great game though and the music is excellent
If you have Amazon Prime and PC, get them all for free.
I recommend Terra Force. I bought it on the sale a few days ago and me and a couple of other guys on Discord are competing for the highest score. Really addictive shmup with 16bit graphics and a great soundtrack. Over ground it's a vertical shooter but when you go under ground, it turns into a horizontal shooter.
It's the successor to Terra Cresta and Moon Cresta.
@Signosis I definitely recommend Terra Force and Last Resort is good too but it's difficult. Terra Cresta is also quite good, it's from the same developer as Terra Force but is slightly older. Moon Cresta I've never played, it looks a little too primitive.
$3.99 should be the regular price, not the sale price.
They've been for days, but it's good to let people know.
Too bad the Arcade Archives ones are games that had already been on sale. Neo Geo ones hadn't and I got to scratch Fatal Fury 3 from my wishlist.
@Signosis Last Resort looks so good and is hard but fun. Fatal Fury 3 might be my favorite of the series it’s a good fighter, great sprites and soundtrack. I honestly have played it more lately than other games I recently bought on sale!
I want the sonic games but the price is very unappealing
Thanks for the heads up. Might get the two Shooters.
Edit-3 shooters. Should include Metal Slug in that
@electrolite77 Last Resort is good too
Ah, I might pick up Last Resort. It looks great.
I started playing X-Multiply last week and it's amazing, so I'm in the mood for more in that vein. Although Last Resort is more Akira whereas X-Multiply is, I don't know, Cronenberg.
@UmbrageHill
I didn’t even notice that. Making really hard work of reading this article apparently. Thanks for pointing it out, I’ll give it a go.
Fatal Fury 3 and Metal Slug X I think.
Aero Fighters 2 I already have.
Bought Fatal Fury 3, might also get Metal Slug X as I don't have any of those games yet on Switch.
Might pick up metal slug but I think they're still fairly expensive (although I do appreciate them costing £π)
I grabbed Metal Slug X and Fatal Fury 3. I would love to see games like Nam 75, Elevator Action, Frogger, Burgertime, and others to be put on sale.
On a side note, there is a huge gap in the ACA line: Williams/Midway. I wish that I had access to games like Tapper, Robotron, Off Road, Paperboy, Gauntlet, etc.
Who has the rights to those games, since Midway is no longer in the business?
@BanjoPickles Super Offroad would be great to have. Even better with online play, although no chance of that happening if Hamster publish it.
I just checked and it appears Warner Bros owns the rights to the Midway arcade games. They released a compilation called Midway Arcade in 2012, that included Super Off Road.
I wonder why Metal Slug X is on sale, but all of the other Metal Slugs available (1-5 ) are not.
@OorWullie
Yeah, I did the same thing after posting the comment. It sucks because WB was apparently only interested in the MK license, and they use the other properties as more of an add-on thing.
It sucks because that leaves out so many of my favorite arcade games.
Just got Metal Slug X, even though I've lost count of how many times I played (and finished) it.
