They're really, really annoying; offering pointless commentary to the obvious. "Hey, water is wet, huh?". Terrible addition; you can disable the annoying voice and stick with the text if you want.
The resolution meant less for the Gamecube original being played on CRTs, but is more important now with most people using flatscreens. However, the 30fps is definitely an unwelcome downgrade.
Really didn't enjoy this game. The EMMI sections were rage-inducing. Hope someone else gets the licence for the next Metroid game (or Nintendo take the series back in-house).
The original core games are both worthy of 9-10 scores but this feels like a somewhat clunky re-skin. For newcomers I'd say it's an 8, but for those who played the originals it's a 7.
I hate the 3-5 second wait after you win a map... it feels like the code is trying to work out if you've won or not. I also want to skip the CO power animations but I can't.
I've played all the games in the series and am a massive fan, and I'm liking this latest release but it feels a bit clunky and unresponsive compared to the GBA originals. Things like having to wait a few seconds after winning a map match before the victory dialog appears, the lack of contrast on the map to clearly highlight the move range of some vehicles, the fact you can't seemingly turn off the CO's power move animation (but can turn off the animations elsewhere otherwise), being able to only play friends online, etc.
I'd love it if Nintendo or Intelligent Systems themselves handle a Dual Strike/Days of Ruin re-release.
For those complaining about the price, this remaster features things like online mode which the originals didn't have. This is the biggest question mark I have over this game, as Advance Wars could be a bit slow for multiple human players over the internet - I can see the possibility of abandoned games due to timeouts or opponents getting bored waiting for their opponent to make a move.
Mega Man 11 was great... aside from the terrible music. I think there was only one good stage track from what I remember, but otherwise it was a real let-down OST-wise.
This is all wrong. Just release the Switch remake to get the series going again; so many mobile phone/indie indentikit releases that aren't a patch on the original.
As someone who loves the original arcade game and prefers it over the original Bubble Bobble arcade game, this review feels massively off-base to me - that is unless they've really messed up the feel and controls in the shift over to widescreen and modern graphics. But no mention of that in the review, or whether there's a retro graphics mode for purists, etc.
Can't comment further until I play this remake, but for now I'm going to have to read some other reviews.
@Would_you_kindly yep; agree. The music's amazing on that NES version especially. I think it's got a bit more input latency than the 360/PS3 versions though.
Will definitely be buying it. They steadily went up in quality from 1, 2 to Dual Strike (the best in the series in my opinion). That last DS entry (Days of Ruin) was a miscalculation that almost killed the series, so I'm glad they're rolling back on it.
So annoying YouTubers can be found in different languages then? The thumbnail immediately put me off; won't be long before passports insist on "reaction shot" portraits.

Re: Twin-Stick Shoot 'Em Up 'Raiden NOVA' Rated For Switch By The ESRB
Was just about to post the same as above; Raiden Fighters Aces are the real kings of the series.
Re: Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Dev Reveals Nintendo Partnership Was Years In The Making
They did a decent job with 1&2 but I hope someone else is given a crack at Dual Strike and Days of Ruin.
Re: Poll: Will You Be Getting The Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition - Deluxe Set?
It's too expensive.

"Lego Fortnite slaps."
/avoids Lego Fortnite.
Re: Zelda Boss Says A "Direct Sequel" To Tears Of The Kingdom Is Unlikely
Good; hope they return to the older Zelda style moving forward.
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 To Fix A "Number Of Issues" Post-Launch
Not supporting this; releasing incomplete physical games that require subsequent updates to fix bugs.

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility
Bad take; it DOES need to be backwards compatible.
Re: Best F-Zero Games Of All Time

Got 50 gold points for redeeming the cart this morning. No issues.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp On Switch
@Everythingnotsaved it was so grey/brown as well. Completely joyless (gameplay and graphics).

Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp
Pre-ordered, and I really hope sales are respectable as I much prefer this series to the similar Fire Emblem.

This is awesome

Could've put the UK link in the main article too (and not just the US one)?
Re: 'Tetris Effect: Connected' Is Getting TATE Mode In A Free Update
@Serpenterror thanks a lot for sharing the video 🙂
Re: 'Tetris Effect: Connected' Is Getting TATE Mode In A Free Update
Unless you can zoom in, that TATE mode looks almost useless. Terribly inefficient use of the screen real estate.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metroid Prime Remastered?
It's a 10; especially when you compare it to the massively-overrated Metroid Dread.

Can't wait for this.

Advance Wars, when?

Re: PSA: Sega Mega Drive Mini 2 Is Now Available To Pre-Order In The UK
The price is not right.
Re: Treasure's "Highly Requested" Title Has Been Leaked
Great, but would've preferred a sequel to the amazing Treasure-developed Gradius V.
Re: SEGA Mega Drive Mini 2 Is Officially Coming To Europe
Shadow Dancer is a severely underrated game; along with the original it's the most fun to play (in my opinion).
Re: Random: This Prototype Transforms Your Switch Into A Home Arcade Cabinet
My posture says "no".
Re: Treasure Is Apparently Working On A "Highly Requested" Title
@Quarbit they've got lots of treasure?

Re: Bandai Namco Is Releasing A Physical Version Of Pac-Man Museum+ On Switch
The original Pac-Man: Championship Edition is by far my favourite version of Pac-Man ever.
Re: Retro Shooter 'Super Cyborg' Brings Serious Contra Vibes To Switch Soon
Cyborgs or robots? Hmm... trade descriptions act...
Re: AM2R Creator Isn't A Fan Of Metroid Dread's E.M.M.I. Encounters
The EMMI sections almost ruin the entire game. The way they instant kill you as well with a spike to the chest; horrible.

Aria of Sorrow is really, really great.

Re: Poll: WarioWare: Get It Together! Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
The price needs to drop a bit after not being bowled over by the demo (massive fan of the first two GBA games though).
