Re: Tales Of Arise - Switch 2 Performance And Resolution Revealed

bnutz2k

I'm not sure why they ever promoted Switch 2 as a 4K console. Also, if they are outputting at 1080p, it would be cool to know if upscaling of any sort would be implemented. Maybe some publishers/devs are just not bothering with Switch 2 optimization. The hardware is capable of more in a lot of instances like this and I've started to be more choosey about which games I get for Switch 2. /ramble

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (31st January)

Trails Beyond The Horizon - Trails on steroids. Has like all the combat mechanics and characters from all the prior games (only a very slight exaggeration). Play Trails 1st Chapter if you've never played any of them yet.

Yakuza Kiwami 0 - 10/10 story so far, and I even love the English voiceovers. They are mostly very well-acted at the very least, imho. The game itself is fairly janky, but has a lot of charm.

Persona 3 Reload - I will give it a 10/10 if I can kill Junpei.

Re: Dispatch Dev AdHoc Responds To Nintendo's Statement, Says It Intends To Address Censored Switch Content

bnutz2k

Ya know... I love my Switch(es), but Nintendo's missteps are starting to irk me. If you're going to censor that game, I want them to censor that stupid foot fetish game's image on the eshop, 'cause I'm sick of looking at it whilst obsessively scrolling for hot deals. While they're at it, they could censor all the sleezy waifu shovelware titles, too. This is dumb and in certain regards, Nintendo is dumb. Signed, Old and Cranky.

Re: Review: Yakuza 0: Director's Cut (Switch 2) - A Series Highlight That's Never Looked Or Played Better

bnutz2k

While I was considering purchasing this game while it was on sale, I read the comments here.

As a 50 year old dude who remembers poorly edited and dubbed martial arts movies on TV in the 70s and 80s, I was surprised at how good the voiceovers actually are in this release. No, Kiryu's voice doesn't exactly "fit", but overall it is leagues better than the poorly edited TV content I can recall from childhood. Glad I picked this up. Great vibe in this one out of the gate.

Also, I mean zero disrespect to any people who prefer the original voiceovers or even hate this release. Ce la vie.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2025 'Year In Review' Is Available Now

bnutz2k

I've played my Switch 2 a lot since I got it, probably about 2/3 of my gaming. Mostly JRPGs (Trails) and played maybe an hour of Bananza which has the best game title in history. I need to get on that. Haven't touched my OLED since. I loved my Switch 1, but always felt it was limited to games that ran well on it and/or wasn't a blurry pile of dog crap. Switch 2 fixed that and then some, so I was an ideal candidate to enjoy it a bunch. That is all.

Re: Tales Of Berseria Remastered - Switch Performance And Resolution Detailed

bnutz2k

Duuuuuuude... put a freakin resolution setting in there so we can bump it up. Let us make the decision. It would run great on Switch 2 with that option, not much need for testing, imho. I love my Switch 2, but I'm not supporting releases like this anymore. Do they want to sell games or no? Anyway, I'm really not as crabby as that sounds. /sips coffee

Re: Got Yourself A New Nintendo Switch 2? Here's What To Do First

bnutz2k

What to do first? Why, try every game in your backlog on the new hardware and marvel at that brute force, of course.

If you like Pokemon, but stayed away from Violet and Scarlet because of how it ran on S1, that's something to consider. I am NOT a big Pokemon fan and have been enjoying Violet casually. Runs and looks fantastic.

Also, IMHO, the dBrand Killswitch case is a must buy. I recommend that over any game currently. It's not cheap, no, but I find it to be a must have enhancement.

Re: Talking Point: Does It Bother You That Big Games Companies Are Using GenAI?

bnutz2k

It depends on what it is being used for and what kind of studio is leveraging it. For example, if a single person creating a game wanted hundreds of NPCs, he could feed it some of his own examples and have the AI tool create lots of random ones using only that data to extrapolate from. I would find that pretty neat, personally. Also, just because gen AI is being used in a studio doesn't mean it is replacing humans. If anything it helps them meet their deadlines without having to release a broken piece of crap, in turn keeping studios open. Having used it for tasks at work that are not video game-related, I can imagine hundreds of potential uses for it. #opinions

Re: Trails In The Sky 2nd Chapter Continues Estelle's Journey In Fall 2026

bnutz2k

I started with Trails Through Daybreak, and I've played a few hours of several of the others here and there. I also finished Daybreak 2 and this new 1st Chapter remake. In short, 1st Chapter is the best place to start, and it's a great RPG to boot. I do think certain players looking for something a bit more mature with a more modern setting might get pulled into the series more readily through Daybreak, but that is just my opinion. The Trails vets gonna get angry at me if I say too much.
