Opinions! Plenty of valid ones. I actually just now read this review after commenting on another article that I thought it looked really good, but I understand now.
Are there English voiceovers that do not feature this person? I missed it.
I'm not sure why they ever promoted Switch 2 as a 4K console. Also, if they are outputting at 1080p, it would be cool to know if upscaling of any sort would be implemented. Maybe some publishers/devs are just not bothering with Switch 2 optimization. The hardware is capable of more in a lot of instances like this and I've started to be more choosey about which games I get for Switch 2. /ramble
@Moistnado subjective, of course. It's more like an animated TV show in a Choose Your Own Adventure-lite format. Not what people are typically looking for in a video game, no, but the writing in the Telltale-relevant games is top tier, imho.
Was playin Yakuza Kiwami 0 yesterday. In it, I discovered a naughty bookstore. MY CHARACTER then viewed a naughty video of a real human girl who I hope was over 18. Then, MY CHARACTER literally had a **** as the camera view zoomed in on a tissue box.
Trails Beyond The Horizon - Trails on steroids. Has like all the combat mechanics and characters from all the prior games (only a very slight exaggeration). Play Trails 1st Chapter if you've never played any of them yet.
Yakuza Kiwami 0 - 10/10 story so far, and I even love the English voiceovers. They are mostly very well-acted at the very least, imho. The game itself is fairly janky, but has a lot of charm.
Persona 3 Reload - I will give it a 10/10 if I can kill Junpei.
I've held off on Ys X to wait for Proud Nordics, and then waited longer when the Switch 2 version was announced. Looking forward to playing that on Switch 2! Also, I did not select Elden Ring, even though I will ultimately pick it up for the platform.
Thinking about it. I like a lot of the concepts I've seen demonstrated so far and it seems like it would be amusing in short bursts. I also have no issue with it alienating a certain subset of its audience and may pick it up just to support it in that regard.
Ya know... I love my Switch(es), but Nintendo's missteps are starting to irk me. If you're going to censor that game, I want them to censor that stupid foot fetish game's image on the eshop, 'cause I'm sick of looking at it whilst obsessively scrolling for hot deals. While they're at it, they could censor all the sleezy waifu shovelware titles, too. This is dumb and in certain regards, Nintendo is dumb. Signed, Old and Cranky.
@Mr_Persona that's a good point. I'm definitely going to boot it back up for the update. Too many dang games and I didn't give it a fair shake initially. I did like Splatoon 2 a bunch.
Capping the docked resolution at 1080p baffles me. Not even a 1440p option? Maybe a dynamic res that leans the other way? That irks me for some reason, but it's not like I'm a regular player.
I have had solid results docking my Switch 2 with a 1440p monitor. I don't personally expect most hefty AAA games to look the best in 4k, but there are a few titles that might prove me wrong, I suppose. Pretty sure anyone wanting to pick this up for Switch 2 is gonna have a good time. Play it on PC if graphics are the most important thing.
While I was considering purchasing this game while it was on sale, I read the comments here.
As a 50 year old dude who remembers poorly edited and dubbed martial arts movies on TV in the 70s and 80s, I was surprised at how good the voiceovers actually are in this release. No, Kiryu's voice doesn't exactly "fit", but overall it is leagues better than the poorly edited TV content I can recall from childhood. Glad I picked this up. Great vibe in this one out of the gate.
Also, I mean zero disrespect to any people who prefer the original voiceovers or even hate this release. Ce la vie.
I don't care about consumable items so much as locking the game's freaking music behind an Amiibo. It makes me wicked mad when I think about it, so I'm gonna go play more Trails.
I've played my Switch 2 a lot since I got it, probably about 2/3 of my gaming. Mostly JRPGs (Trails) and played maybe an hour of Bananza which has the best game title in history. I need to get on that. Haven't touched my OLED since. I loved my Switch 1, but always felt it was limited to games that ran well on it and/or wasn't a blurry pile of dog crap. Switch 2 fixed that and then some, so I was an ideal candidate to enjoy it a bunch. That is all.
Duuuuuuude... put a freakin resolution setting in there so we can bump it up. Let us make the decision. It would run great on Switch 2 with that option, not much need for testing, imho. I love my Switch 2, but I'm not supporting releases like this anymore. Do they want to sell games or no? Anyway, I'm really not as crabby as that sounds. /sips coffee
It's so freakin cute! Can't decide on platform yet, but I've checked out the demo on Switch 2 and my beastly PC. Plenty snappy on Switch 2, but docked on a 4K display won't win any awards.
I think studios need to be more transparent about the ways they are using AI, because there is a very broad range of potential uses, not nearly all of which are as harmful as the average person believes.
What to do first? Why, try every game in your backlog on the new hardware and marvel at that brute force, of course.
If you like Pokemon, but stayed away from Violet and Scarlet because of how it ran on S1, that's something to consider. I am NOT a big Pokemon fan and have been enjoying Violet casually. Runs and looks fantastic.
Also, IMHO, the dBrand Killswitch case is a must buy. I recommend that over any game currently. It's not cheap, no, but I find it to be a must have enhancement.
@JaxonH Those screenshots are a pretty good sell, I'll admit! I like dungeon crawling way more than crafting and coziness. The dlc sounds like it might be more my speed than the main game.
The visuals of this one don't appeal to me much, but the sound of this dlc definitely makes it sound more interesting. Might have a look next year on a deeper sale. I do have a couple friends playing it that really love it and none that don't, fwiw.
It depends on what it is being used for and what kind of studio is leveraging it. For example, if a single person creating a game wanted hundreds of NPCs, he could feed it some of his own examples and have the AI tool create lots of random ones using only that data to extrapolate from. I would find that pretty neat, personally. Also, just because gen AI is being used in a studio doesn't mean it is replacing humans. If anything it helps them meet their deadlines without having to release a broken piece of crap, in turn keeping studios open. Having used it for tasks at work that are not video game-related, I can imagine hundreds of potential uses for it. #opinions
I started with Trails Through Daybreak, and I've played a few hours of several of the others here and there. I also finished Daybreak 2 and this new 1st Chapter remake. In short, 1st Chapter is the best place to start, and it's a great RPG to boot. I do think certain players looking for something a bit more mature with a more modern setting might get pulled into the series more readily through Daybreak, but that is just my opinion. The Trails vets gonna get angry at me if I say too much.
It's Nightdive. I expect it will be fixed. I honestly don't mind games being delayed or waiting for them to fix it. The criticism is deserved, mind you, just that there have been worse scenarios! Anyway, my backlog is ridonkulous and I'll come back to it.
A locked 30 on the Switch 2's display with VRR tends to look really smooth to me, on a well-optimized game anyway. I freakin love my Switch 2 and pretty much in JRPG heaven. I also have a pretty beefy PC if I feel like impressing myself with graphics. Haters gonna hate!

Re: Digimon Story Time Stranger Switch Version Includes Free Switch 2 Update
I'm not super into monster keeping type games, but I played the demo for this on PC and it is AWESOME. That is all.

Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase February 2026: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer
Kyoto Xanadu looks amazing! It has side-scrolling sections? Looks significantly evolved from Tokyo Xanadu. I'm in.
Also, play Trails 1st Chapter if you like RPGs. Falcom has really upped their game with overall presentation, I feel like. Good stuff.
Re: ICYMI: Paper Mario-Styled RPG 'Escape From Ever After' Has Launched On Switch
