@Dunan : it might be that it appears to be a runner with boss battles added. That's not to say the design, music and gameplay won't be worthy of an add to the collection, but have my doubts.

I played it last night and like (not love) it so far. The graphics are great; there is no stuttering. MUCH like Star Wars Episode I Racer, its as much about mastering your vehicle as it is the track. Shame there is no tutorial because I'm still not sure I'm doing the drift mechanic correctly (braking on minor turns, handbrake on big ones). The one thing that is REALLY OFF is the music. 90s grunge is awesome, but not for a supposedly futuristic setting.

I'm very eager to give Rise a whirl. Star Wars Episode I Racer remains my benchmark for futuristic racers and one of the hardest tracks in that game had slippery lake sections...man were they a beast.

I do so love Goncalo's taste in games! I too will be giving Blazing Chrome another go this weekend, but when Rise: Race the Future hits the US on Monday, I'll be racing again . . .and somehow balancing that against the mid-week release of Super Mega Baseball 2.

Between this and Blazing Chrome, my game room is turning into a retro 90s Arcade!! And a manual?? OUTSTANDING!

LOVE the concept of arcade baseball with fast action and a fair amount of realism. Wonder if there is player/team customization a la Baseball Stars on the NES (which IMHO still remains the GOLD standard for home console baseball games after all these years)....

I had my R shoulder button stop registering. Opened it up and the component that registers the input had broken off from the board. Something I'd expect from an XBox controller, not a Big N one.

Just started playing this morning. Wow. @Axelay no lie. From the title screen's arcade voice-over, this one screams legit 80s arcade experience. Hoping for a stage as iconic as Contra's waterfalls. We'll see.

Great price point. I really love futuristic arcade racers . . .and I want a new sequel to Star Wars Episode I Racer more than words can describe!

Actually looks a lot like a more polished sequel to the highly enjoyable Manticore: Galaxy on Fire.

Many shmups, but few new(ish) IPs in 16:9. While I don't fully understand the trinity mechanic, THIS LOOKS AWESOME!!!!

Bloodstained No. 9 is buggy?!? That’s terrible and yet expected. Input lag is unforgivable IMHO...you don’t need community feedback to know your game lacks tight controls. I hope they fix it for all of those that gave support and bought the game, though the piecemeal patch strategy may take sometime in part bc of the Nintendo approval process.

The NES Star Wars is a pretty great (and really difficult!) game. Love flying through the asteroid field and watching Obi Wan raise characters from the dead!

Ninjara IS the very best of the bunch. His teleportation attack was like the Empire's fleet coming out of hyper speed in Return of the Jedi.

@dartmonkey: T2: The Arcade Game (SNES) was fantastic...if played with the SNES Mouse. Sure it did not have the cool machine gun that is arcade counterpart had, but the action and visuals were great.

But GREAT call on SWE1R (N64). One of my all time favorite games.

I'm all for ORIGINAL and WIDE SCREEN shmups, but why aren't the missiles being fired at enemies flying away from the ship?!?

Star Wars Episode I Racer set the bar for me, but I guess we’ll never see another. I had RedOut pre-ordered pre-Switch release, but the delay and middling reviews have me clenching my $40 bucks....

The story here is what can happen to digitally purchased games stored on a cloud.

1. Team racing is (and has been) a fun feature of at least the last two Mario Karts. MK Wii had that great parade at the end of a successful circuit.. My kids and I had a blast "marching" and "waving" to the the "crowd".

2. Sonic AS Racing Transformed was so well received folks here wondered if MK8 could top it. MK8 did, though a few might still argue to the contrary.

3. I don't get 30 fps threshold that this last batch of racers (Sonic, RedOut, Xenon) struggle to top or achieve. It's 2019, devs.

Hope the jacks are better than those crappy XBox One controller jacks. I've had to replace them in 3 controllers in about 2 years time.

Honestly more interested in a RedOut review. I've been check in every few hours over the last few days. I'm confident that Sonic will land a 7, 8 or 9 from NL, but RedOut could be far lower . . .

I love it just the way it is!

I played 1.5 hours last night and LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! We've all played dungeon crawlers, collect-a-thons and grinders before; Shakedown Hawaii is easily distinguishable because of the pace (great upbeat tempo to the game), the humor, and the diversity of gameplay. On this last point, for instance, I assumed that every "shakedown" would be about the same....I was very, very wrong. Easily a 7 and probably an 8.

SkyForce Reloaded is #1 in my book. And RXN Raixin deserves mention; both are NEW games and use THE FULL SCREEN. And both far superior to AngerForce.

This arcade game was so advanced for its time. Not really comparable to the NES releases, but I'm glad its coming to the switch. FOOTBALL HEROES TURBO is like Super Tecmo and Baseball Stars rolled into one, so be sure to get that to scratch your NES Temco itch.
