@Dunan : it might be that it appears to be a runner with boss battles added. That's not to say the design, music and gameplay won't be worthy of an add to the collection, but have my doubts.
I played it last night and like (not love) it so far. The graphics are great; there is no stuttering. MUCH like Star Wars Episode I Racer, its as much about mastering your vehicle as it is the track. Shame there is no tutorial because I'm still not sure I'm doing the drift mechanic correctly (braking on minor turns, handbrake on big ones). The one thing that is REALLY OFF is the music. 90s grunge is awesome, but not for a supposedly futuristic setting.
I'm very eager to give Rise a whirl. Star Wars Episode I Racer remains my benchmark for futuristic racers and one of the hardest tracks in that game had slippery lake sections...man were they a beast.
I do so love Goncalo's taste in games! I too will be giving Blazing Chrome another go this weekend, but when Rise: Race the Future hits the US on Monday, I'll be racing again . . .and somehow balancing that against the mid-week release of Super Mega Baseball 2.
LOVE the concept of arcade baseball with fast action and a fair amount of realism. Wonder if there is player/team customization a la Baseball Stars on the NES (which IMHO still remains the GOLD standard for home console baseball games after all these years)....
I had my R shoulder button stop registering. Opened it up and the component that registers the input had broken off from the board. Something I'd expect from an XBox controller, not a Big N one.
Where in the world are the alternative DESIGN joycons we all thought would happen given how modular they are?!? Like gamecube ones?!?
In the US, Just Dance 2019 is $19.99; Lego Incredibles is $19.99, Mario + Rabbits is $19.99; Lego Super Villains is $24.99; Pro Controller is $62.98; Sid Meyer's Civilization is $29.99; tales of Versperia is $29.99...probably some others . . . .
Just started playing this morning. Wow. @Axelay no lie. From the title screen's arcade voice-over, this one screams legit 80s arcade experience. Hoping for a stage as iconic as Contra's waterfalls. We'll see.
Not interested in Star Wars Pinball . . . but very much interested to see Disney creating Star Wars games for the Switch. WE NEED A NEW POD RACER!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! PLEEEEEEAZE!
Bloodstained No. 9 is buggy?!? That’s terrible and yet expected. Input lag is unforgivable IMHO...you don’t need community feedback to know your game lacks tight controls. I hope they fix it for all of those that gave support and bought the game, though the piecemeal patch strategy may take sometime in part bc of the Nintendo approval process.
The NES Star Wars is a pretty great (and really difficult!) game. Love flying through the asteroid field and watching Obi Wan raise characters from the dead!
@dartmonkey: T2: The Arcade Game (SNES) was fantastic...if played with the SNES Mouse. Sure it did not have the cool machine gun that is arcade counterpart had, but the action and visuals were great.
But GREAT call on SWE1R (N64). One of my all time favorite games.
How annoying to get calls and text while playing . . . or not to get calls and texts on a nearby device while playing . . . . point is consolidation is not always the best
Star Wars Episode I Racer set the bar for me, but I guess we’ll never see another. I had RedOut pre-ordered pre-Switch release, but the delay and middling reviews have me clenching my $40 bucks....
1. Team racing is (and has been) a fun feature of at least the last two Mario Karts. MK Wii had that great parade at the end of a successful circuit.. My kids and I had a blast "marching" and "waving" to the the "crowd".
2. Sonic AS Racing Transformed was so well received folks here wondered if MK8 could top it. MK8 did, though a few might still argue to the contrary.
3. I don't get 30 fps threshold that this last batch of racers (Sonic, RedOut, Xenon) struggle to top or achieve. It's 2019, devs.
Honestly more interested in a RedOut review. I've been check in every few hours over the last few days. I'm confident that Sonic will land a 7, 8 or 9 from NL, but RedOut could be far lower . . .
I played 1.5 hours last night and LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! We've all played dungeon crawlers, collect-a-thons and grinders before; Shakedown Hawaii is easily distinguishable because of the pace (great upbeat tempo to the game), the humor, and the diversity of gameplay. On this last point, for instance, I assumed that every "shakedown" would be about the same....I was very, very wrong. Easily a 7 and probably an 8.
This arcade game was so advanced for its time. Not really comparable to the NES releases, but I'm glad its coming to the switch. FOOTBALL HEROES TURBO is like Super Tecmo and Baseball Stars rolled into one, so be sure to get that to scratch your NES Temco itch.

Re: Taito's The Ninja Saviors Will Release The (Ninja) Warrior Within On Switch This August
Between this and Blazing Chrome, my game room is turning into a retro 90s Arcade!! And a manual?? OUTSTANDING!
Re: Super Mega Baseball 2 Aims For A Home Run On Switch Next Week
...answering my own question:
"Edit player names, appearance, gear, animations and skills
Customize team names, logos, and uniforms"
THIS SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!

@baller98 Futuristic arcade racer with great visuals . . . now that is my jam! Monday can't come soon enough . . . Blazing Chrome is kicking my tail!

Re: Arcade Racer Rise: Race The Future Speeds Onto Switch This Month
Great price point. I really love futuristic arcade racers . . .and I want a new sequel to Star Wars Episode I Racer more than words can describe!
Re: "Intense" 3D Space Shooter Subdivision Infinity DX Blasts Onto Switch Next Month
Actually looks a lot like a more polished sequel to the highly enjoyable Manticore: Galaxy on Fire.
Re: Pawarumi Brings Frantic Shmup Action To Switch With A Rock-Paper-Scissors Twist
Many shmups, but few new(ish) IPs in 16:9. While I don't fully understand the trinity mechanic, THIS LOOKS AWESOME!!!!

What is it about cave men that make them so much fun?!?

Might give the sepia-toned SHMUP Earth Atlantis a try at that price point . . .
Re: PlatinumGames' Astral Chain To Be The First Of A Trilogy, Depending On Its Success
That is good to hear, but, umm, Platinum, respectfully, we are still waiting REAL patiently for Bayonetta 3. Priorities, Platinum, priorities!
Re: Play Your Nintendo 64 On Modern Displays With The Super 64 HDMI Adaptor
I was thinking "please don't be $49.99, please don't be $49.99" . . . so $149.99 is a non-starter for me.

No. 1 on my list for a long time. Platinum Games with a Sin & Punishment vibe. What's not to love?!?!?
Re: Contra And Metal Slug-Inspired Platformer Blazing Chrome Comes To Switch This July
Oh wow this looks brilliant!! A little Hagane influence there too perhaps?!?

The NES Star Wars is a pretty great (and really difficult!) game. Love flying through the asteroid field and watching Obi Wan raise characters from the dead!
Re: Feature: It's Time To Lay Down Your ARMS
Ninjara IS the very best of the bunch. His teleportation attack was like the Empire's fleet coming out of hyper speed in Return of the Jedi.
Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Shmups
@60frames-please They skipped it on this list and they skipped it on the last one. GREAT GAME . . . aerial rescues have never been so much fun : )
Meanwhile, AngerForce really failed to impress me....

Re: Review: Rolling Gunner - An Essential Shooter That's Perfect For Newcomers And Veterans Alike
Wow, stunned. The trailer posted here (last week?) looked a bit choppy. Always happy to see a NEW widescreen SHMUP on the Switch.
Re: Rolling Gunner Brings Side-Scrolling Bullet Hell Shmup Action To Switch Next Week
I'm all for ORIGINAL and WIDE SCREEN shmups, but why aren't the missiles being fired at enemies flying away from the ship?!?
Re: Contra Rogue Corps Will Kick Alien Butt On Switch This Year
This was one of the more pleasant surprises for me of the E3 presentation. But the burning question remains: will The Code still work?!?
Re: Asphalt 9: Legends Speeds Onto Switch This Summer For Free
Yes!! This is my jam!!
Re: Get Discounts On Devolver Digital (EU & US) And Ubisoft (EU) Games In The eShop Sale

Re: Pre-Orders Go Live For New Switch Controller With Integrated Voice Chat And Audio Jack
Hope the jacks are better than those crappy XBox One controller jacks. I've had to replace them in 3 controllers in about 2 years time.

Re: Shakedown: Hawaii Update Will Bring Features And Fixes To Switch Soon

I love it just the way it is!
Re: Review: Shakedown: Hawaii - A Promising Game Buried Beneath Tedious Busywork

Re: Feature: The Best Shmups On Nintendo Switch
SkyForce Reloaded is #1 in my book. And RXN Raixin deserves mention; both are NEW games and use THE FULL SCREEN. And both far superior to AngerForce.
