In July we reported that SmileBASIC had been taken off the 3DS eShop as a result of a Homebrew exploit targeting the app. As has been the case with multiple games, once Nintendo became aware of an exploit using the app it removed it promptly, leaving Smileboom with the task of producing an update to secure any loopholes.
It's take around a month, but the good news is that the app is back, with an update available for those that already have it. The following message has been posted by Smileboom:
SmileBASIC is back! The updated version of SmileBASIC has been released. Please re-download it from Nintendo eShop.
You can even see the hefty changelog on the official website for the update to version 3.3.2. The app isn't yet available to buy directly from Nintendo.com, but it'll surely be available there again soon.
With thanks to Benson for the heads up.

They work fast
..that's GREAT!..now available for more people to make fun games, I've had a blast trying player made games, over 200!..anyone curious should check it out, now it's back.
So many fun little games on smilebasic, worth the price even before you get into making them yourself.
I was really into the dsi version a few years ago, might have to jump back into this
Here's to hoping this will get an EU release.
And there's STILL no EU/UK release.
I'm dying to get this, living in the UK is a pain for game releases, heck, even media releases in general.
This aughtta make some people smile... basically.
I really hate the hacking community.
Great news!
Europe please, Smileboom. My Wallet is ready.
@toxibunny @dogekid44 @DoctorOverbuild @SanderEvers Same for Australia. It sounds so cool but we've got nothing.
Why is the rating system so difficult in Australia?! It's been confirmed as the reason publishers won't put their games through!
Nintendo must pay to the developers all money they lost all this time.
@DarkEdi I've never developed for the 3DS, but I would think the onus falls on the dev to ensure that their game doesn't pose any security vulnerabilities for the system. Yes, Nintendo is punishing them by taking the game off the eShop, but Nintendo presumably didn't create the issue.
Hell, the fact that the app is getting news article attention is probably making up for the potential losses.
@SanderEvers The devs Made a crazy complicated app that was pretty much guaranteed to have bugs like this. It's a miracle that Nintendo allows it at all - I'm thinking that the good professor is an old school chum of miyamoto or something.
Nobody's been punished - it was just took offline until the bugs were fixed, which is a business risk all console devs no doubt take into account.
I've got no hate for hackers/crackers, but given the nature of the app, it was major bad form to release this exploit, especially considering others were already available...
@toxibunny Bad form? Sure. Major bad form? I don't think so, only because the app was out for nine months before being pulled.
@Kilroy Fair enough, I guess my wording was a little strong...
