If you live in North America and were a fan of the original Yo-Kai Watch game on the 3DS, you'll probably already be aware the dual release sequel launches later this month on the 30th September.
In the latest Nintendo Direct it was also revealed a free demo for Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits & Fleshy Souls will arrive on the Nintendo eShop mid-September. If you're excited to see how the game plays prior to its official launch, keep an eye out for this demo around the middle of the month.
Travel to the past to witness the origin of the Yo-kai Watch and put an end to an age-old war between two Yo-kai factions! Watch Model Zero, which gives players two new tactics that make for more strategic battles. Each version also has many unique Yo-kai. Hailing from ancient Japan, the leader of the Bony Spirits faction is Arachnus, who harbors a spidery secret. As for Fleshy Souls, the leader is Toadal Dude, the essence of a toad who lived for several centuries thanks to his fresh sense of style.
Yo-Kai Watch fans in Europe have to wait for the sequel's arrival in August, 2017.
Let us know in the comments if you are looking forward to the demo and which version of Yo-Kai Watch 2 you may be considering at this point in time.

@Liam_Doolan I believe you meant "April, 2017" not "August, 2017."
I'll pick up this demo once it's released, but how soon I play it depends on when I get around to playing the new Ace Attorney demo. XD
Getting it day 1 and both versions. One for me and one for my son.
I really need to play the first game. I've been waiting patiently for our family copy to become available to me.
I have this pre-ordered as I really liked the first one.
"spidery secret"
"spiders"
/gets version that isn't that one
I was underwhelmed when I tried the free demo for Yo-Kai Watch last year. The battle system felt too chaotic and I never felt like I was really in control of what my team were doing during battles (more like spinning wheels and hoping for the best). Perhaps I will give it another shot with the sequel and see if the improvements make it more fun.
I'm curious if this sequel will improve on the first one because i'm really interested in the series. Level 5 is an awesome developer.
@RatKing64 That's how I felt too, and even after playing the actual game for a couple hours. I hear playing against bosses is mainly when you have to actually use strategy. It'll be interesting to see if the battle system has changed much, although from what I've seen it doesn't appear so.
I actually like the battle system in the iOS phone game Yo-Kai Wibble Wobble better...in that game, you play a crazier version of "match 3" (super fast, super fun) to power up each of your Yo-Kai, and then you tap the powered-up Yo-Kai to use their special moves (including attacks, buffs/de-buffs, and healing). Level up, unlock moves, etc. Probably my favorite time-killer on iOS.
I'm actually looking forward to this. I got the first one, and I like story synopsis for the sequel, but otherwise I'm not so sure if it'll be any different. This'll be a good test.
@CanisWolfred
The beginning kiiiinda recounts some of the earlier parts of the first game and then it moves on to the meat of the game story. It definitely is even more enjoyable than the first game
@RatKing64 @kupo
Your both right. You gotta be a few hours into battling before it all clicks. Using favourite food and a YK in your team that boosts the chance of friendships happening really helps. In boss battles where you drop the pin is a significant help also.
@ShikabaneHime13 - Good to know when I get around to it, thanks.
Probably the game I wanted to hear about the most this direct... even though I know a ton about it.
And can we talk about how badass and silly the name Toadal Dude is at the same time?

Yeah, this and Ace Attorney were my top picks to hear about since they come out this month. The kids and I are super excited. Hope we get a definitive date for the demo. I've played all the games but even though I know Japanese, it'll still be fun to play again in my native English and see how my kids like the sequels since they loved the first game.
