@DJLink Yeah, I see it now, thanks for pointing it out. Well regardless of anything else, you get a big ol' thumbs up from me for your demeanor. I hope you have a great day as well!
@DJLink @SaKo Yes Sako, let's both keep assuming things about each other. I feel even the ASCII-based roguelikes have more effort put in visually. Eh!
And Mr. Developer, I looked on both the steam page and your website and found no disclaimer on either page. If it's there, I managed to miss it. I appreciate your candor despite my grumbling.
@SaKo I guess you don't use Steam much, because it's become very apparent that Steam reviews are pretty worthless. Bad Rats, one of the worst games Steam has to offer, has mostly positive reviews, and they're all "ironic".
And Quest's feedback? "I got this game for 75 cents. Best 75 cents I will ever spend." Not any different from the norm.
Between the middling quality and again, not putting in the effort to make any of their own art assets (seriously, even the low-key roguelikes you speak of still do this themselves) whatsoever, you really have to reach to defend this game.
I'm pretty sure the sarcasm in these articles is going to continue until, at last, the news of a Nintendo system update is just the word STABILITY repeated hundreds of times.
If the hostile folk in this comment section are the kind of people EA will bring to the table, I can live without.
Anyway, EA has enough skeletons in their closet, enough backhanded and scummy acts that have indeed been mentioned in this comment section, that I'm not comfortable with them making demands of Nintendo.
Partner with the vile sods, sure, whatever, it all comes down to the pursuit of the almighty dollar after all. However, they wanted Origin to be the network on Wii U, and imagine how much of a horror show that would've been, among other shenanigans they've been up to. I don't want them actually integrated with Nintendo's hardware in any shape or form.
Oh yeah, this piece of junk. It's ignored and forgotten on Steam, I guess they're trying a new market here. I mean, they didn't even bother to make their own assets, everything in the game came from here:
I know there isn't a lot of this type of game on Nintendo hardware, people, but don't turn a blind eye to the quality of this trash just because of that.
I love how people are STILL complaining about scalpers with amiibo. You can say what you like about amiibo and their functionality, but stock issues have largely vanished for the grand majority of figures.
If you don't want to look like an idiot, don't complain about something with outdated information.
As long as strong single-player games continue to exist, I'm not going to care about local multiplayer. All of my friends live continents apart these days, so it doesn't do me a whole lot of good.
@sillygostly Have you played this game? There's enough going on in this "simple looking game" that even the PC version can chug at times, depending on people's hardware.
That aside, it doesn't chug THAT much on PC. Yeesh.
Funny story: I was super-hyped for this game and I can't play it because it physically hurts me. Between the intentionally tiny text despite a moderate-sized monitor, and the built-in motion blur (seriously, even camera rotation makes characters ghost), I have an immense migraine after 30 minutes of this.
I wound up having to return the game. I'll be the first to admit that my eyes are sensitive, but 99% of titles from Splatoon to Beat Hazard have no effect on me. That this does is a giant oversight on Monolith's part.
This has some rather frustrating mechanics that, had I known about, would have kept me from purchasing. Ugh. Naturally they'll never come up in any review. What a waste of money.
This sort of interested me until I noticed all the badges are either stock art or straight NES sprites. Egh. Give me a sprite sheet and MS paint and I could make better-looking themes in a few minutes.
...I hate to be that guy, but I'm not seeing the appeal here. Those prints are incredibly simple in design. I have the artistic ability of a drunk cat and I'm pretty sure I could do these myself.
Regardless, a quarter-century since my favorite Mario game... I feel old. Again.
Ads are still used as an attack vector for viruses and malware beyond any website's control, and that isn't likely to change anytime soon. I don't care how much I like a given website or content creator, as long as ads can be harmful I will be using adblock and I'd recommend the same for most people.
I don't mean to downplay Kepeb's efforts, but I don't really see how this is newsworthy. I mean it's a Spiderman beat-em-up: Anyone inclined to play such a thing isn't going to miss much without the text.
Still, thumbs up to Kepeb. The more translated games, the better.
And yes, this website does pretend everything is rosy, frequently. The number of positive reviews for titles most people wouldn't give a second glance to is a pretty good indicator of that, among other things.
@XCWarrior Really? You're comparing Sega to Teyon? Even with all of Sega's constant blunders over the years their track record is leagues ahead of Teyon's rock-solid mediocrity. Their best title, Steel Empire on the 3DS, is just a remake of a game that they had nothing to do with.
You know, fair enough about whether this is noteworthy or not, that was just my cynicism at work. But we can already guess how this will turn out based on everything else Teyon's done since 2006.
So the chuckleheads that made that horrible Rambo game and produce a wide variety of shovelware are making a game with zombies. Are Wii U owners really so starved for content that something like this is noteworthy?
Someday I'd like to see patch notes for one of these "stability" updates. Aside from the usual shutting down of hacks and exploits and whatnot, I imagine some of it will amount to "menu text misaligned, moved three pixels to the right."
I feel for Chris, but even he knows he screwed up and companies all over the world, in all industries and services, will fire employees for similar behavior. This isn't worth talking about beyond the initial firing. Let the man learn from his mistake and move on.
@TwilightAngel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhckuhUxcgA I'm assuming you don't step out of Nintendo's range too often if you're actually saying this. Modern gaming wooooooooooooooooo!
Has Mr. McFerran and anyone else reporting on this actually played a Mega Man game? I know people are already harping on this but it's an incredible oversight for a games-focuses newspage. It's kind of like there was breaking news that, yes, you can use fireballs against Bowser in Mario Maker.
@Rascal0302 You actually like the godawful kinect games enough to defend them? For all your salt and talk of "firsthand knowledge" there sure is no accounting for taste, it seems. And yes, I've played those games that I consider to be messes.
My own salt aside, I think you'll find it very difficult to deny that the company has gone downhill since the Microsoft acquisition. Unless you think nothing but Kinect titles in the last 5 years is truly acceptable? Also, no, Rare Replay doesn't count, ports and remasters can be done by any skilled developer, M2 leaps to mind.
I'm still chewing through Hyrule Warriors. If this is even remotely like that in terms of potential length for completionists, owning both would probably be madness.
The Western version might be missing the plot, but it also fixed the controls so throwing your item/balls wasn't mapped to the same button as running. Given the choice between plot that's ultimately filler and better gameplay, I'll take the "write-off" version, thanks. I feel that the towns didn't really add much to the game.

I kinda just want that little lego arcade machine. I don't give a damn about any in-game functionality.

Re: River City Ransom SP is Looking Fighting Fit in Latest Trailer
It does look neat, the NES-style sprites on top of the more detailed backdrops is a bit off-putting though. I'd prefer more cohesion in the artwork.
Re: Video: Splatoon Co-Director Tsubasa Sakaguchi Has Some Top Tips For Budding Inklings
Good advice, I just wish he mentioned the Recon function. I've met level 40 players who were unaware of how useful that is.

I would have hoped that a Nintendo-focused news site would stay away from "Nintendo is DOOMED" punditry, but guess that's a futile dream.
Focusing on Christmas releases is an industry concept that needs to die anyway.
