Re: "As You Can See, I'm Not A Switch Player" Admits Epic Games' Tim Sweeney

Zacattack99

Ever since this lawsuit started; my thoughts were that Epic Games were being idiotic when it comes to bypassing IAP royalties and insisting Apple and Google were playing foul by removing Fortnite because of it.

With Spotify; I don't see why having an aneurism over not being the first result when looking up “music” on the app store and Apple having their own service is justified, especially when Apple has better royalties per stream, and both being bested Soundcloud and Google on such things.

Re: Surprise! SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off Has Just Launched On Nintendo Switch

Zacattack99

Extra Krusty Edition? Welp, people are already Krusty about this game’s highway robbery price.

Which is Ironic given CheeseHead BrownPants’s employer is a a greedy, penny-pinching cheapskate tightwad, and many toxic fans were initially furious assuming that Kamp Koral was nothing but a soleless cashgrab done against the will of fans’ lord and savior: Stephen Hillenburg, in spite being made by Hillenburg before his passing.

Re: Random: Nintendo Has Uploaded Its Switch Online Trailer (Again), And It's Still Getting Disliked

Zacattack99

I think people had too high expectations, and are still overreacting expecting more.

People still put too much stock into Dedicated Servers and Netcode believing it will magically make Smash Ultimate’s online better. (Where it’s actually a matter of data distribution methods:
Game stuttering frame by frame > players warping all over the place for the sake of flow.)

The online-enabled NES and SNES games are a good VALUE.

I think people are over the “all games not having the Save Data Cloud feature” melarky

The App for Chat isn’t as terrible as people make it out to be, and also provides the interesting utility of stat tracking and so on.

Tetris 99, (The Late) Super Mario Bros. 35, PAC-MAN 99, the NES and SNES controllers are all pretty sweet offers (Tetris 99 and PAC-MAN 99 alone justifies it for some people)

Re: Random: Epic Games Apparently Still Needs Your Help To "Free Fortnite"

Zacattack99

To clarify;

Epic Games asks Apple to bypass the IAP method with their own, thus avoiding the 30% cut Apple would take from every IAP.

Apple refuses, Epic Games does it anyways and well... Fortnite gets axed from the App Store.

Epic Games acts like they are trying to stick it to the man with this #FreeFortnite, and 198Fortnite nonsense and attempted to sue Apple to no avail, only to then get the game removed from the Google Play Store.

Apple announces a program where it cuts the 30% IAP fees to 15% on apps from companies and developers that make less than $1M on a fiscal year, Epic Games (and Spotify) were critical with that decision in spite of making well more than that.

Say what you want about Apple being anti-consumer, and that last thing was obvious Damage-Control: Epic Games is really the entitled bad guy here.

Re: Random: Smash Bros. Fans React To Geno's Return As A Mii Fighter Costume

Zacattack99

Sora: I and many others feel like that’s impossible due to Disney partly owning Kingdom Hearts as a series. (Now come to think about it; Kingdom Hearts inclusion would go against what Super Smash Bros. stands for. )

Geno: Initally; copyright issues. Second; lack of interest. Third; Lack of interest while not being able to make a inventive and balanced moveset.

Karnov: YEAH THAT MAKES SENSE.

Re: "Free Melee" Becomes "Save Smash" Following Nintendo's Legal Action Against Competitive Smash Bros. Event

Zacattack99

I think people are overreacting to this whole situation.

To sorta recap; the Big House was given a Cease and Desist not on simply hosting a Super Smash Bros. Anything Tournament, but rather they were using Emulated versions of Super Smash Bros, Melee with the SLIPPI mod and chose to do so against Nintendo’s Wishes. Nintendo has standards, and The Big House refused those standards, the community has to suffer because if it, THIS IS WHY WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS.

If they simply decided to do Ultimate Only, then we wouldn’t be dealing with this. In terms of my stance on Melee and Ultimate, “Melee is Overrated.” and Ultimate is a better Melee in terms of greater match variety, overall support, at least there’s an effort to balance the game’s roster, and has online (depending on your connection set up that is)

Re: Sega Ages Team Reveals The Most Popular Games In The Series

Zacattack99

If only the line continued: Perhaps we could of seen SEGASonic The Hedgehog make it’s home console debut, Sonic The Fighters with an on-screen moveset cheatsheet, Altered Beast from the Arcade with some of the luxeries of the Genesis version’s 3DS remake, and so much more.

The best I can hope is that we could end up seeing SEGA start loading out more compilations ala SEGA AGES 2500.

Re: Sega Asks 650 Employees To 'Voluntarily Retire', Cuts Executive Salaries

Zacattack99

@Giancarlothomaz, I think SEGA being a second-party developer let alone being acquired by Nintendo is just a better fit more so than the Microsoft or SONY. If Nintendo does end up buying them outright, both sides have a lot to gain. Nintendo could utilize SEGA SAMMY Holdings other departments and expertise as a diving board to expand into other industries (Animation, Hotels, Toys, Amusement centers, Resorts etc.) and SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS would be able to utilize Nintendo’s I.P., receive secure funding, and take advantage of interesting Hardware or aid in the development of Nintendo’s future hardware.

Re: Random: Sorry, Mario Kart Live - Sega Beat You To The Punch Over 30 Years Ago

Zacattack99

@Damo, Then there was Treasure of the Incas at DisneyQuest.

Not surprised if you ever heard of ‘Treasure of the Incas’, because it was constantly plagued with problems caused by cell-phones’ wireless interference, and was closed down once one of the vehicles caught fire in 2005.

To think it was from Disney’s failed attempt to take on SEGA’s GameWorks. How ironic.

Re: Switch Predicted To Be Best-Selling Console This Holiday Season In The US

Zacattack99

With the state of the world, the current recession, the sticker shock and confusion to be had with both Xbox Series S|X and PS5 and the $70 games. Nintendo is in an enviable place thanks to having popular games, a humongous list of good games, and all at a price that isn’t going make people go bankrupt in a time where it’s becoming difficult to not go bankrupt.

I grown desensitized to the concept of a Switch Pro the more I keep hearing rumors about it. It’s been 3 years since I kept hearing rumors. At this point I’m with John about the possibility of a TV-only version of the Switch akin to the PS(Vita)TV, with no enhancements to horsepower or resolution at all. Similar to the Switch Lite being a handheld only alternative. Imagine a system that looks like a GCN controller adapter that costs $149.99 USD.

In terms of hardware power, we also had seen developers utilizing skills and smartly-optimized game engines to make the most out of the hardware. Ori: Will of the Wisps, Panic Button conversions, etc. all being examples of smartly optimized/converted games. It’s not number of teraflops, but rather how that number is being smartly utilized, kinda like playing Golf in a sense.

Re: Reports About Super Mario Bros. 35 Being A "Rip Off" Of Last Year's Fan-Made Battle Royale Simply "Not True"

Zacattack99

I agree with @Deltath in spite only being reminded of Mario Battle Royale’s existence just now. yeah; Mario 35 and Mario Battle Royale are totally different. The only thing they do share is the concept of adding online multiplayer with multiple people at once. However the execution is different: Mario Battle Royale was a real-time speed run to the flag pole, while Mario 35 is a endurance challenge. To say ‘Nintendo stole his Ideas’ is very unfair, once you take the execution of that concept into account.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Four More Titles

Zacattack99

It’s only a matter of time before they start with the Game Boy and Game Boy Color games with a Game Boy shell for the Switch console itself to slot into.

Or A small handful of the Virtual Boy games with a special replica that the console would slot into alongside a wireless controller with both D-Pads in tact.

Or Game Boy Advance games with a controller built like a original GBA console (just without a functional screen)

Re: Talking Point: So, Where Does Switch Fit Into Sony And Microsoft's Next Gen Landscape?

Zacattack99

The Switch already OWNED the 9th Gen. (no matter how many times Wikipedia will argue it as 8th Gen hardware)

This generation already proved a lot of things:

that developing on/porting to the lowest denominator of Hardware has it’s benefits.

Middleware engines like Unreal Engine, Fmod, and Unity are as good as AAA in-house engines.

Port house developers like Panic Button and Virtuos can deliver on making games work on lower-end hardware.

Smaller indie devs can be on par with full AAA monoliths like EA and Activision in terms of success and quality.

Word of mouth is king.

Games don’t need 7 to 12 Teraflops to be the best.

Better treatment of Game Devs is also king.

Good things come to those who wait.
