As someone from the South, this stereotypical showcasing of a cowboy is- Maybe we need to be less critical towards Nintendo/Square and be more critical of how the culture is here, where characters and features are being outright removed because everyone loses their minds over literally everything. It's not a game ruiner: it's just extremely troubling. Also, the Redskins will more than likely not change their name because Dan Snyder is the idiot-hero we all need right now.
Well, my Wii U is with my brother, who doesn't really use it. The Wii U in my apartment is my friend's, and that's what I mostly play/purchase for. I guess "My" Nintendo will just collect dust. Probably gonna be really missing Club Nintendo.
Allowing shy and introverted people to "talk" about deeper things, like whether or not they enjoy fishing. Well, this is certainly not a game. Of course, they don't have to release a game. They can release anything they want, and they... certainly have. I'm okay with waiting until March. I could probably go the rest of my life without this ever being needed.
I can't even buy the game yet. The game is so huge that there's not enough room on the Wii U. I had to buy a flash drive just to get space to buy the dang game (it comes in tomorrow). That's annoying, to be honest. Digital games are just too big for this to be a good alternative.
I live on my own, so I don't care what my parents would think. I actually don't care. I was always going to buy this game. My big problem is that, in the west, it's digital-only, which means I have no room for the gigantic 16 GB game. I have to go get a large USB for this thing. A minor point, but I wish they had just removed all the bonus costumes entirely. Considering the atmosphere this game is trying to convey, the Nintendo-based costumes (and, really, lingerie) are silly and out of place.
This is the most important update yet. Just about everything has been sorely needed, and now all of those completely unbalanced weapons will be a bit more regressed to the mean. Not everything was fixed (no region-specific servers, Rainmaker still exists), but this is excellent.
So instead of buying expensive consoles, they'll buy... what? Even more expensive computers? Or will the games be formed with the colors of the wind? I guess when you're a hack like Michael Pachter, you have to say whatever to keep yourself relevant. And there's an article about him, with all these comments, including this comment. I guess it worked.
@IceClimbers Considering that there are a significant number of American players, it would be a good investment to have American servers. With that, there would not be this disadvantage in an overall sense. It would take actual effort, which I know is just so tough.
@IceClimbers Let's say there's a game with seven Japanese players, and one U.S. player, that player being me. This is a very common occurrence. If I have my own lagvantage due to how far away I am, then I would indeed have an advantage. However, that means simultaneously the entire opposing team has the same advantage, which means not only am I at a disadvantage overall, but my team is as well for having me on there. There are so many American players, more than people realize. There are more than enough to have a region-specific server to avoid these issues. Nobody has to be okay with this. We deserve better.
Had to log in to let people know: the lag advantage does exist. I've played about 300 hours of this game, more than half of it with nearly exclusive or exclusively Japanese players, and the lag advantage (or lagvantage) is horribly real. I've lost count of how many times I've died because someone hit me when they weren't anywhere near me, or how many times I've killed someone only to watch them kill me after death. It's not a matter of "getting good", as some have postulated. This is clearly a case of those being closer to the home servers having the advantage. There are enough American players to where I know there can be region servers. Nintendo just isn't trying. That's abundantly clear by the way they create their ranked servers. How many times, as an A, are they going to put me in an S server? Nintendo really needs to step their game up. All-lo hell is real, friends.
The yearly sequel part was one thing I was worried about. This is an encouraging direction, though I'd never 100% trust Activision not to milk a franchise into the ground.
This would equal, in America, to $24.90 for the Amiibo and $51.50 for the game. The price could change, obviously, but if it doesn't... I may have to rethink getting it. That's a ridiculously expensive price. And if it's true that the original Yoshi Amiibo doesn't work for the game, that would also be disappointing. I'm wondering about this scheme, Nintendo.
I'll keep an eye on this, but a $40 peripheral? I mean, I get it, since you'd be staring at a screen for a long time without a guitar to play with, but will another guitar cost $40 too? Is there even two player? I mean, it seems like there isn't all instruments like Guitar Hero IV, but at least co-op? You know, if they hadn't of updated the guitars, the old ones used a Wiimote, and the Wii U also uses Wiimotes. Just saying.
This reasoning has not assuaged my disappointment. As an adult, I play many more hours on my 3DS (20-30 a month) than my phone (zero). This never seemed like a game that 'adults' would be clamoring to download on their smartphones. That doesn't make sense to me at all.
The disappointment: it hurts. I absolutely loved Fantasy Life (150+ hours in the game), and I was hoping if there was a sequel, it'd be on the 3DS. However, if it happened to be on tablets, then I could still play it. On just phones though... Well, I could still play it, it just wouldn't be as good. I would more than likely pick it up though, since I loved the first game so dang much. Still, this is a huge disappointment, though I can understand it with sales and all.
Since it's a phone game, microtransactions would make it even more disappointing. Shameful even.
EDIT: Of course, I say all this with the assumption it comes to western shores. That's not guarantee, I realize.
I'm not quite convinced that there are a significant contingency of parents who believe the age rating on the box is a "difficulty" rating. That's just silly. You can't just blame games as a go-to for every little issue people have.
I loved Pokemon Shuffle, so this is a big double-edged sword. While I'm definitely going to download this, another Pokemon foray into the realm of microtransactions doesn't sit right with me. I enjoyed Shuffle, after all, but the experience was bogged down by the wait system.
That feel when no Code of Princess. Still, there were 10 (at least) good games there to choose. Just would've replaced one of them with Code of Princess. Great list though.
What's the point of changing a character's gender? To make people feel better? It's up to Nintendo whether or not Link is male or female, and they've already made him a, well, him for about 30 years. The only reason people want to change characters' genders is to force their beliefs about how they need more women onto already established characters. Nintendo doesn't have to do anything. Link has been male for nearly 30 years. Really, get over it.
I like the Pokemon Rumble games, particularly the first one, but I didn't buy the third one because of the toy aspect. I can't imagine this one would abandon them.
Both are excellent tests of skill, but I enjoy watching glitch runs more, just because of how insane they are. They both take incredible amounts of skill, though.
We just heard about this new venture and now we're going to see some stuff in two weeks? I mean, it's interesting, but there's probably not much to see. At least we can hope for more information on what exactly it'll be released on. 'Consoles' is a tad vague.
I'm not sure I'll be that interested in this game, but my second impression is higher than my first, and I'm going to keep an eye on it. Could be a good game to pick up later this year.
@pahvi Well, the six hour run time is about the same as Captain Toad, if my playthrough was anything to go by. Sounds like a similar amount of content.
It worries me because the smartphone gaming area is a big scum of the Earth area with bare-minimum gameplay and microtransactions abound. I'm already worried about the Pokemon Shuffle thing. Delving deep into the smartphone arena can lead to trouble.
I don't know what a BAFTA is, but it doesn't really matter to me. Award ceremonies are a big joke, though this takes the cake for biggest joke. What smartphone user even cares?
Did she really say with a straight face that a dating sim is doing well in the west? Maybe because they have low costs, but dating sims are an extraordinarily niche market, especially in the west.
That feel when you paid over $40 for Metroid Prime Trilogy (better than $60).
@Moon It's unfortunate you can only use the Wiimote. It appears quite a lot of people enjoyed the control scheme, but to me it was wild and unwieldy, the hitbox too small to properly relax while playing. It's a complete hassle to do anything with it.
I don't consider someone using glitches within a game to beat it as cheating. It's merely taking advantage of something within the game. Using Game Genie and codes, stuff like that? That's cheating. This is just as skillful as someone doing a fast regular run, just using their skills in a different way. I can appreciate both, though watching people break games over their knee is always hilarious.
