Earlier this month, we reported on the news that fledgling studio Playtonic Games - made up of former Rare employees - is currently hard at work on a spiritual successor to the Banjo Kazooie series.
It has now been confirmed that the as-yet-unnamed release will be getting its public unveiling at this year's EGX Rezzed, which takes place between March 12th to the 14th in London.
Playtonic's presentation will take place on the Saturday at 4PM, and is entitled "A Rare Reunion: Rebirth of the 3D Platformer".
Here's what Playtonic's Gavin Price had to say:
It was the fans of our past work who inspired the creation of Playtonic, so we're delighted to be able to showcase our vision to them in person at EGX Rezzed - as well as a few cheeky details of our game!
Playtonic has confirmed that its game will be coming to the PC and consoles, and has also stated that it would be more than happy to bring it to the Wii U - a wise move when you consider how many Rare fans exist on that particular console.
If you're not lucky enough to be attending Rezzed, don't fret - you can follow the presentation live on the Rezzed Twitch Channel and watch highlights on the Rezzed YouTube channel.

Sign these guys up Retro-style Nintendo!
Hopefully it does come to the Wii U. The people who really miss the classic Rare are Nintendo gamers
I'm keen to see what is revealed. I'll be keeping an eye on this studio.
BUY PLAYTONIC NINTENDO!!!!!!!!! BUY THEM SO WE CAN GET OUR DREAMS COME TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!! DREAMS I TELL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These guys should make their game as good as they can, let Nintendo Publish it and after 2-3 more great games which are inspired by BK/Perfect Dark/Killer Instinct, but held back by the small size of the development team, they should let them be bought by Nintendo ....
Nintendo has the moneys, workforce and qualitycontroll to make truely worthwhile games and has a philosophy which seems to be somewhhat similar to the one Playtonic games seems to have.
But first off, I'm really excited what they will reveal at EGX ..... PLEASE LET IT BE A GLORIOUS B&K_INSPIRED 3D-Platformer/collectathon!! ^^
I'm still a bit unclear on if this is a full retail release or an eshop title, and if this is a title already in development or is just a few storyboards and character designs. It feels like the latter unfortunately.
Considering how few of these types of games are being made today I really hope this game turns out to be a winner! Claiming to make a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie instantly puts out fairly high expectations for this game and I can only hope that they pull it off.
It would be a bit dumb if it didn't come to wii u, I expect it to happen
Considering that many of these devs want to work with nintendo again, especially Grant Kirkhope, who mentioned it a couple of times, i think that the WiiU is rather high on their platform list.
Though i have to say, Nintendo should outright buy them as a 1st party developer. Rare, in that position, worked wonders. Their expertise and Nintendos watchfull eye created some of the best games ever made, that are even fondly remembered to this day.
So, its not just that Nintendo would gain another good dev, but theyve already proven that a collaboration like this can result in phenomenal products.
Think about it Nintendo, make them your own, not only would they probably really like that and benefit from a little funding, like Platinum did with great results, but youd definitly score a few system sellers that way
Please come to Wii U!
I almost wish Nintendo would step in and publish this so that it would for sure come to Wii U.
Banjo-Kazooie is one of my favorite games of all time, so I'm incredible hopeful that this game finally gives us the spiritual sequel to that series that it deserves, since Rare has effectively killed it off by making it a mediocre racing game exclusive to Xbox.
Any idea about the time? I've looked everywhere and haven't been able to find it.
"Bluergh blargh bluergh bluergh blargh blargh.... blargh bluergh blargh?"
@Mega719 Truer words have never been spoken.
@Artwark
Why would Nintendo want to buy them before they showed what they can even do?
Nintendo should keep and eye on them. If the project looks amazing then they should buy the studio while still small. Otherwise, no need to buy anything, just assure this game comes to the Wii U
@ikki5.now to answer your question and sad u have no video game experience. Why should nintendo buy them.hmmm I'll just say this.donkey kong country, banjo, conker, jet force genimi.diddy kong racing,.we are talking about the same people who made them games.this staff is the real rare.not the bill crap one Xbox owns
We just heard about this new venture and now we're going to see some stuff in two weeks? I mean, it's interesting, but there's probably not much to see. At least we can hope for more information on what exactly it'll be released on. 'Consoles' is a tad vague.
They've done nothing, why should Nintendo buy them?
People shouldn't let nostalgia blind them, they haven't even showed their first game!
Look at Armature, Batman Origins Blackgate is not a bad game but it is far from the quality of Retro's productions.
I'm hopeful the game will be awesome and it's encouraging they want to make a splash with their initial reveal — that means they have confidence — but let's see it first.
There's a reason these collection games went out of style. They got bloated and boring for me, at least. I'll be looking for what steps they've taken to modernize the genre, myself. Also, we don't really know what the people in this team contributed to those other games, just that they worked on them, right? You can be a great artist and have no strength in game design at all for example.
Still, I'm hopeful. I'd much rather see success than failure!
I'm pretty sure the game is heading to the Wii U, they already said Nintendo systems are their main priority.
I don't know if any of you have been to their website, but the Playtonic Logo looks very similar to the old school Rare logo. Also news has it that David Wise stopped by the studio recently...
Color me intrigued.
@Sanya so then it wouldn't be coming to PC and other platforms. They actually said they have no problem making it a Wii U exclusive if they have too
A spiritual BK successor would be a great start for them to show off and I certainly have my ekambokam ready for a fun modern retro-inspired 3D platforming collectathon. But secretly, I can't wait for their spiritual Jet Force Gemini and Blast Corps successors.
Hyped for this studio I miss the real Rare
I hope my body can take it.
