Playtonic Friends - the publishing arm of the rather popular Yooka-Laylee team - is making early waves as it supports and releases smaller Indie games. It's now confirmed its next partnership, teaming up with development newcomers MegaWobble to bring Lil Gator Game to Switch and PC in early 2022.
As you can see in the trailer above it's a very cute and wholesome game, seemingly with the Lil Gator's objective being to lure an older sibling back into play full of fantasy and imagination. There are some familiar and fun mechanics on show too, and it's an adventure where the focus is on exploration and experimentation.

Under development by brand new indie team MegaWobble, Lil Gator Game is built around the idea of uninterrupted exploration and child-like whimsy with a story not about noble heroes who changed the world or of wicked anti-heroes who learn the error of their ways but of heroes who learn to be better friends without ever losing their heart of gold.
Employ a packed tool-box of toys & abilities to explore a giant play park spread across an island setting as you guide the Lil Gator as he climbs, jumps, glides and flings himself from adventure to adventure, new friend to new friend.
It looks adorable and enjoyable to us. We can expect a demo as part of Steam Next Fest next week, and the game will also appear in the Indie Land event on 25th September.

Looks like they copied ‘A Short Hike’ except swapped the bird for an alligator and zoomed the camera way too far in!
Awww this looks really cute and quite good overall too! Definitely curious about it!
Umm... 🤔
I saw many indie developers just too depended on Zelda clones.
The video above was cute but not impressive for me because there are a lot other games inspiration can be implemented, not just only Zelda things.
Looks cute! It's got my interest for sure
Ew. My initial delight soon turned to disgust when I realized they had copied almost everything about A Short Hike - graphics, theme, climbing mechanics, flying mechanics, setting...
...still looks kind of fun tho. And I could be totally wrong. Maybe the full game is hiding a personality all its own
What a load of Croc.
@HamatoYoshi
To be fair, it looks like they've blatantly applied Breath of the Wild designs to A Short Hike.
Paragriding, climbing, and shield surfing downhill definitely stuck out as copying BotW.
Hmm, I’ll pass this one. Looks very unoriginal and not fun at all.
Looks like there's a Steam demo coming in a couple of weeks, will try it out to see if it's more than just A Short Hike with a different hat on.
Looks very cool! Like a mix of Croc and Tearaway.
A'ight, I'm game!
Aww. Will keep an eye on this one.
Looks a very nice n sweet game, but now I feel there's going to be a succession of "Short Hike" a' likes now!
First Haven Park (Which was alright) and now this.
The fact it's published by Playtonic's new publishing arm is what has me more interested in it.
A poor mans Croc.
Here is a pointer for all the indies out there;
Don't just copy something. Cause if Nintendo released Wind Waker right now, this game doesn't have enough to stand out to the common consumer and will Straight get buried by Zelda existing on top of it.
So Breath of the Wild crossed with Short Hike? Sign me up!
I wouldnt mind a short hike clone as everyone is saying as I loved that game. Looks a bit too slippery control wise at the moment though - hope they fix that
Looks adorable. Add it to the list.
I genuinely thought this was by the Short Hike dev, but it's just another cheap clone it seems.
This totally looks like A Short Hike Vol.2, but that could be a very good thing. I'm interested!
Looks nice , if the price is right I'll have it.
