@Corvus96 they snap things up for a Limited Release before they've even been released digitally. A lot of indie titles are made available for general release physically later down the line, dependent on success. LRG releasing this means that the chances of a general release are slim. I'm in the UK, this means importing or buying from eBay at an inflated price. This is not to mention the other issues people have with their distribution practices.
Played enough of the demo to know it performs well and looks incredible. If the reviews pass the smell test I'll be all over this one. Tengo Project have done fantastic things up til now.
Need to sort out an option to play multiplayer hotseat-style. That was great on the Gamecube titles. It was probably due to hardware limitations at the time, but it went nicely with a few drinks. You really felt the pressure when it was your turn. Having multiple monkeys on screen, via splitscreen just doesn't have the same charm.
Some Pix N Love releases are distributed across a range of online retailers. I'd imagine this one will too, for anyone who dislikes ordering direct from them. It's still pretty easy to pick up a copy of KOF XIII at a reasonable price from a bunch of places.
Not sure if anyone else is having any issues but I had a dispatch notification yesterday and when I checked tracking it said:
"We've received your order details, but have not yet received your parcel."
I've raised with customer services and they say it's 'stuck' in the warehouse (whatever that means), so it looks like I won't be getting my copy on release date.
Not the best look for Currys if they're trying to entice new customers into trusting them with their pre-orders with a juicy discount.
Welcome to the bitter, jaded comments of the NL comments section.
Such lofty standards. Such high expectations.
I'd have nowhere near the amount of games I had right now and I'd have missed out on some real gems if I'd paid attention to the naysayers.
I like games to look good, sure. I like them to run well. I don't expect 60FPS in any new game that isn't a ported upscale of an old game from technology that the Switch now dwarfs. This isn't that.
The Switch is showing its age.
It wasn't that powerful to begin with.
This game looks great. I'd prefer it to run at 60FPS. I'm not surprised that it doesn't. Unless this significantly affects gameplay it's a non-issue for me when it comes to laying down my money.
I won't 'buy anything', but framerate isn't high on my list of priorities. If the game performs steadily and feels good to play, then that's all I care about. That's why I have a Switch. That's why I prefer Nintendo. I don't understand why some of you here.
Looks really nice. Was hoping for pixel art when I saw the article title, but that is some top-notch hand-drawn. If they nail the gameplay I'll be all over it.
And yet...it acts as another timely reminder of money left on the table by Nintendo. A brand spankers Punch Out might not have the mass appeal they're looking for, but I think a remaster of Punch Out Wii is long overdue.
It's £35 for the physical version if you shop around.
The Switch doesn't have many open-world games of this calibre, outside of Nintendo's oeuvre.
It's an old game, but it's a very, very good one.
I get the flack, particularly if you've got the power of next gen to play with. Personally, I'm glad they didn't do too much and have it run like a dog's dinner on Switch. As soon as I saw it was functional and looked half-way decent, I had no problems laying my cash down. I've paid a lot more, for games with significantly less content.
There's a standard Japanese release listed on Play Asia.
There are Pix'N'Love games that are sold on most retail sites (Windjammers 2, Vengeful Guardian) that were given a general release and are still widely available. I thought there would be quite the appetite for this physically, so if this is just the 3000 releases that seems really shortsighted or lacking in confidence.
Hopefully it's just the 'first edition' that is limited and there's plans for a standard, general sale. Note that Vengeful Guardian's listing on their site says 'first edition' and 'limited to 3000 copies' but as of now, that game is available on most UK retail sites. Same thing for Souldiers. Hope it's the same for KOF.
I had some reservations and low expectations of this game, but kept a cautious eye on it after reading a few articles that said some fancy-tickling things.
After reading/watching a range of reviews yesterday I took the plunge. I like having more 'accessible' game to play with the Mrs or younger family. I love platform games. A game being less difficult or god forbid, easy (!!!) is enough to invalidate my enjoyment. At my advancing years, it can be somewhat of a relief at times.
I'm not sure what other people's expectations are. I see lamentations of the art style, which I get, but this is the current style used for Mickey and Co. I love pixel art. I love the Megadrive games, but I'm a 40 year old man and likely not this game's intended core audience.
The positive reviews refer to a feeling of quality in terms of game feel, presentation and overall polish. It looks like a real labour of love, for what it is.
I've officially hopped of the fence and have gone from lukewarm to super-hyped since reviews started to drop. I'm really looking forward to playing this when it arrives in the next few days.
I ordered it last night after watching/reading a few reviews. There is no option for my situation! It won't arrive today, but I'm not undecided and I'm too pedantic to settle for a non-exact answer.
@contractcooker any % mens to trigger the ending as quickly as possible, in essence completing any necessary steps required to achieve this (including skips, glitches etc) but without needing to achieve any set percentage of completion.
@Nico85 pretty much said this. Quibbling over phrasing just looks like gatekeeping and makes the speedrunning scene seem unwelcoming which, based on experience, it is anything but.
You can have reservations about the game, or it's predecessor, without framing it as part of some mass conspiracy where people are overvaluing it's legacy.
Its not because you're more critical, know or expect more about game design, or that you're some sort of bastion of Zelda tradition.
It just isn't for you. Something didn't click.
Move on.
There are Zelda games I don't like. I don't play them.
Insulting people's intelligence doesn't make them like the game any less. It just makes you seem a lot less likeable and not worth listening to.
It must be rubbish when you're excited about something and it just doesn't work for you, I get it. Bringing other people down ain't it though.
If you think there are other games that do X, Y and Z better, play them instead 👍
Was a big fan of Streets of Red. The art style (if not the colour palette) is similar, chibi-looking, like this.
I'll be picking up a physical of this if it makes it to a standard, non-limited release. I hope it does. DD is a big enough franchise with a strong enough following that it should sell well enough amongst gamers of a certain vintage.
@AJB83 if there's a game I really like the look of, I've learned to wait. It is annoying when they do this, but it happens often enough now to know it's best to wait if you're a physical collector.
This game hasn't been out that long and the physical has been announced relatively quickly. This developer / publisher releases most things physically.
All of the recent Arcade Crew games have been released physically. I knew to wait.
The more popular Pix'love games usually get a general release further down the line. I can see this being one of them.
Note that their standard edition is the 'first edition' which gives them enough wiggle room to release generally later. Looks like they've done this with a bunch of games (Souldiers, Young Souls, Windjammers 2, Cuphead), with Merge doing some of the publishing.
Now, the question is...do I leave it to chance and wait?
I haven't imported from the EU since the B word. I'm wary of fees etc. so I'd prefer to be able to purchase domestically.
Minter's retro revamps on PSVR were really top drawer. Hope this lives up to the standards he's set. I love the low-poly, particle-heavy, yet buttery smooth, high-octane craziness that he brings to the table. You wouldn't mistake it for anyone else.
I'm sure there are a ton of variables to take into account, but I'm hoping the gap between digital and physical launch is to allow for early updates to be included. Always a bug-bear (pun intended!) of mine when the version on the cart has some issues.

Saw the PS announcement and automatically feared a Disney Afternoon Collection scenario, or having to hold my breath for a Switch announcement. To have it confirmed straight away means I can unclench and wait for that physical pre-order.
So, so happy. Does make Shredder's Revenge somewhat superfluous, but I will get both I'm sure. Probably just means I can wait for the inevitable 'Anniversary Edition' with DLC (looking at you SoR4/Dotemu) and enjoy the lovely retro goodness in the meantime.

Looks almost like a sequel. Similar mechanics with the capture bubble, but with more like actual shmup 'stages' instead of barrages of repeating enemies that escalate in difficulty/frequency.
@OorWullie I'm the same. I was super-hyped about Battle Axe but then it was dogged by technical issues on release. As a physical collector I don't want a dodgy game on cart, even if it does get patched later.
I have a nice little collection of beat-em-ups for my Switch. Will wait for reviews before making a decision on this one. Call me cautiously optimistic though. That trailer is ticking a lot of boxes. Just hope it plays well 🤞
Kinda wish people would stop with the 'I wish it had such and such character' and the willing of DLC into existence before a game is even released.
I miss the days where a game would release with a full roster of characters, you enjoyed what was provided and appreciated the choices of the developers. Of course it can be disappointing if your favourite doesn't make it, but I don't feel like every spin-off game has to have a bloated roster with every permutation of every character to satisfy everyone which ends up costing several times more than the base game.
I like that they're showcasing some of the lesser, more cartoony characters that fit the style and mesh well with the Chocobo-racing aspect.
Call me old fashioned, but I miss having full games on carts. I don't buy modern fighting games for this very reason. You never know when you're playing the complete game/roster.
Even if you think you're doing good by challenging 'wokeness', do you really think the comments section of Nintendo Life is the place to do this?
It's funny you talk about becoming 'Trumpy' and 'right wing' as somewhat derogatory, whilst simultaneously condemning more progressive attitudes to gender identity as 'going woke' (straight from the conservative playbook).
Biology and gender aren't the same thing. It's 2022 and self-determination is now acceptable.
Get with the times or find your antiquated views rightfully shunned by the gaming community, generally one of the 'wokest' you'll find. The fact that you don't already know this shows the depth of your ignorance.
If you said something racially or sexually offensive you'd expect to be censored here. Your comments are likely to cause offence. They were deleted. Take the L and move on.

Re: Marvel Cosmic Invasion Demo Datamine Leaks More Heroes
Been burned by these devs before when buying physical. They bring out additonal, updated versions after DLC drops.
Once it happened with Streets of Rage and it's Anniversary edition.
Twice with Shredders Revenge that had an Anniversary and then the Ultimate Edition.
Fool me thrice. Shame on me. Not picking this one up until the inevitable later editions. Even if it means waiting til they next bring out a new game.
I'm a patient, petty man.

Re: Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection Punches Up September Release
@Jackomorgan I can only see a physical version for PS4. I can see a Switch physical for pre-order on Amazon US, but not on UK retailer sites.

Still waiting on the listings for a UK version.
Had to snag an import copy of the first Fighting Collection. Thought this one might be in greater demand so got my hopes up for a local release.

Re: Surprise! DOOM + DOOM II Get Newly Enhanced Release On Switch eShop
I only had the first Doom downloaded but was able to download the bundle of both for free, which was a nice cheeky bonus.
With that being said, I did have a few freezes and one crash when I gave some of the mods a quick play test.

These should be basic unlockables within the game! I know that's not the climate we live in these days, but it still rankles.

@OorWullie the pauses are intentional, when you use the capture bubble (a bit like a bomb with a set radius), the screen does a kind of freeze flash.
