Re: Review: New Super Lucky's Tale - The Perfect Tonic For Jaded Modern Gamers

@electrolite77
It's nice that you love NL so much that you feel the need to defend the reviewers and keep checking the comments on the offchance that someone had an opinion that didn't mirror your own.

You're entitled to your opinion. And if you express that opinion like a belittling, dismissive know-it-all with too much to say and way too much time on their hands, then expect to get called out for it.

Otherwise you have a nice day. Just next time, when you feel that overwhelming urge to hammer that reply button, even when you're obviously monopolising the thread with nothingness, take a deep breath, count to 10, then think about how you could be putting that giant brain of yours to better use.

Re: Review: Fight'N Rage - Who Said The Side-Scrolling Brawler Is Dead?

Waiting for a drop on this. As much as I want to support it and think it looks great, £17.99 is a hard sell when you look at the Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle costing less at full price (which I picked up for half). Getting a nice little collection of brawlers on my Switch now and this will be one of them as soon as the price is right. Would be a really nice get if a physical ended up making its way out.

Re: Review: Valfaris - Heavy Metal Mayhem That's Rough Around The Edges

Some 'retro inspired' game take their cues from NES/8-bit games (Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon for example), others SNES/16 bit games. This quite obviously falls into the latter. You can tell from one screenshot. The colour palette, the amount of pixels. It's obvious.

Each time I see a hyperbolic exclamation of 'this looks like a bad game on such a console' it's almost always incorrectly applied. Presumably for effect, but it just makes me think that the person doesn't know what they're talking about.

I had high hopes for this game. I was looking at a physical copy, but now I'm not sure. It sounds like there are a few issues that would annoy me over the course of the game. Happy to be proven wrong, so will check out some other reviews.

Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd October (Europe)

WrongChops

Already have The Way and got that for a ridiculous price. Are the hefty discounts due to the early game-breaking bugs perhaps? 🤔

Haven't played through it yet but it looks like a solid adventure game in the vein of Flashback/Another World. Anyone played the whole thing?

Re: Random: Nintendo Posts About Mario Enjoying Sunshine, Internet Goes Wild

WrongChops

I must have played pretty much every mainline Mario game ever and from World onwards, at launch. Sunshine never really clicked for me. I found the FLUDD mechanics detracted from the ‘pure’ platforming. My favourite parts were the levels where it was taken away to focus just on Mario’s now standard suite of jumps and abilities.

I’d be keen to revisit it now I’m a more seasoned gamer, but in all honestly I can’t see my thoughts changing. If they did some work on the mechanics and made it a little bit more accessible I’d me much more willing to give it a shot. Sort the camera out too whilst they’re at it.

Now, a new title in the series, framed as a spin off and running with the weirdness that could be further explores amongst the habitants of Delfino Island and I’d be totally down.

Re: Smash Bros. Pro Player Banned From Tournament After Match Fixing Admission

@DESTROYA thanks for reinforcing the point I was initially trying to make. If people don’t like what you like. Move on. If I turn up on another thread just to say that I don’t understand why people enjoy what is being discussed, feel free to call me a hypocrite.

As for me taking this personally and seriously, I was merely pointing out the flaws in your argument. That’s fun for me 😊

Nothing serious about it hombre.

Re: Smash Bros. Pro Player Banned From Tournament After Match Fixing Admission

@k8sMum way to miss the point. They literally said that their kids watch videos and they don’t understand the appeal. I too would probably be considered an ‘elder statesmen’ in gaming circles. I like eSports. I don’t like a lot of things about modern gaming. Do I go out of my way to tell people that? Nope. That’s the point I was making. There’s always generational resistance to change and it’s as dull as it is predictable.

Apologies if I touched a nerve. It just annoys when people go out of their way just to say something isn’t for them.

Re: Smash Bros. Pro Player Banned From Tournament After Match Fixing Admission

WrongChops

@DESTROYA so you don’t watch any sports at all? I can play Smash Bros, Street Fighter etc. but not in the same universe as these guys. I like watching people play at an elite level, on the world stage, in front of thousands. Like any other sport. If it were the same playing yourself, no spectator sports would exist.

For everyone thinking I’m being ageist, I was being extreme to make a point. I’ve been playing games for over 30 years. I don’t understand lots of things ‘the kids’ are into, but I don’t go out of my way to proclaim it when it’s barely relevant to the topic.

Re: Smash Bros. Pro Player Banned From Tournament After Match Fixing Admission

WrongChops

Funny seeing people use this topic to state that they can’t get into watching eSports. Yes, and?

If it’s not for you, move on. You just make yourself sound super old, like when your parents referred to your music as ‘just a lot of noise’. We get it, you’ve been around for a bit. It’s really impressive that you’ve lived longer than some other people and don’t understand what they young ‘uns are into these days. Thanks for for telling us. What do you think of skateboards?

Back on topic, there are a number of disturbing details in this report. That the cheat tried to justify it due to ‘frustration’ at his level of performance sounds super hollow and I imagine something more nefarious and/or petty was the real reason.

Re: HORI Strikes Back With Limited Edition Street Fighter Arcade Sticks For Your Switch

WrongChops

I’m a sucker for a fancy looking fight stick. I have the 8BitDo/NES one which is enough for me in terms of performance/casual play. I do like the look of these minis though. Obviously the more expensive versions would be my preference if money were no object, but the minis look fancy enough. Might dabble if they get to a lower price point, but with vanilla versions now just a shade over 30 quid, I might end up getting one those instead.

Re: Loki, Cyclops And Colossus Join Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

WrongChops

This sounds really sad but I’m waiting til the DLC is released before buying. Not because I intend to buy the extra content (though I might) but because I want to see how it’s handled. Basically, if they show the DLC characters on the main select screen in a ‘look who you could play as if you give us more money’ thing then that’s a huge no-no for me. I don’t mind DLC but when they rub your face in it then it really winds me up! Fighting games are the absolute worst for this!

Re: Teslagrad's Physical Switch Edition Launches This September

WrongChops

Got this game discounted on WiiU and really enjoyed it. Great art style, atmosphere and solid puzzle/platforming/Metroidvania. Easy to recommend for any fan of any combination of these. Would definitely pick up physical for Switch if I could get a UK copy. Any news on distribution this side of the pond?

Re: Capcom Teases An Arcade Collection With Some Rare Gems

WrongChops

The inclusion of another Street Fighter game is throwing me off. Hopefully it is another collection and we’re looking at Vampire Saviour and not the first Darkstalkers.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Pocket Fighter and Red Earth. If not now, some day...

My expectation is always for Capcom to drop the ball though.

Re: Hands On: Breaking Racquets and Hearts in Mario Tennis Aces

WrongChops

I can assuredly say that stories of any kind are the least of my priorities when playing any game in the Mario franchise. This is even more so when playing a sports title, even speaking as someone who has been playing Mario Tennis games since the Game Boy Colour. It will be a silly, means to and ends way of taking you across a map, with a sense of progression encompassing different gameplay styles and challenges. I'm not expecting Shakespeare.

Sorry @brutalpanda but the short answer is an emphatic 'no, I don't care'.
