@Honelith
Yep, the first Splatoon didn't deserve a 9, I enjoyed it for a short while. I ain't bothered that this game got a perfect score, afterall I look elsewhere for reviews, it will no doubt be a good game but perfect I very much doubt it, hope ppl enjoy it though

Re: Review: Splatoon 2 (Switch)

Yet again Nintendo life scores a Nintendo game higher than any other sites, I always check other sites for a true review, can't take NL seriously with reviews. NL are the only ones to give it a perfect score, it's 84 metacritic at moment

I don't care much for hardware, it's about the games and 3Ds has some great games, just like any other hardware really. It could be a smelly turd but if the games are good then I'm in, also couldn't care how much hardware is sold, Wii u and Vita hasn't sold much but they have great games, but like all hardware they have some crap, just like switch with many bad indie games announced for it, all hardware is singing the same tune really

When the switch is docked it is dated compared to higher spec consoles and it will be mega outdated in a few years time when a new generation comes out, but you will still love your switch, just like ppl love their 3ds. Even the 3rd party games announced for switch look outdated already, mainly 8bit and 16bit trash. At this moment in time there isn't anything special about switch, it has a long way to go to catch up to other portable devices, me personally i would like to see some apps on it, more multimedia in a way, hate the fact it uses mobile app for online chat, can't see why it wasn't built in. Four face buttons instead of a D-pad is definitely one step backwards, especially for fighting games that need precision and don't get me started on the games that many are ports and lack of AAA 3rd party, many have been quoted as saying they like switch but you can sod off, you ain't getting our games, basically your tech is crap and we won't waste time or money on it because our games won't make a profit because you have your heads up Nintendo's backside and don't know how to look outside the box, i can say I don't blame them for adopting this way of thinking because as a rule only Nintendo games make money on Nintendo hardware with the odd exception

Re: Nihon Falcom President Would "Definitely" Like to Release Games on Nintendo Switch

WhistleFish

@MegaTen
Hmm nah, have you looked recently at all the games announced for ps4, Japanese niche games I mean, looks like the ps4 is taking over from vita not switch when it comes to these games, it already has loads with a crazy amount coming and many exclusive to ps4. Also vita still has many to come this and next year announced, switch is only getting a trickle at the moment. None of the games you mentioned above will make it to switch, maybe new additions but I doubt it, their biggest audience is on Sony machines not Nintendo, hence why they haven't bothered much with Nintendo hardware, I do hope many Japanese games come to switch then I will buy one but only if they don't come to ps4 and vita, otherwise what is the point, I only play Japanese games and Vita is king for that followed by ps4, at this moment in time switch don't get a look in, it's way down when it comes to Japanese games

Re: Nihon Falcom President Would "Definitely" Like to Release Games on Nintendo Switch

WhistleFish

Falcom only release games on Sony hardware in recent times, consoles and handhelds I mean the up and coming legend of heroes 3 is a ps4 exclusive and Ys VIII is coming soon to vita and ps4 in the West, can't see them releasing for switch anytime soon if at all. I won't buy a switch until it gets plenty Japanese niche games, so I will stick with vita for now, I only play Japanese games. Also many devs have talked up similar to this and nothing comes of it. PS4 will be the Japanese niche sucessor, it's already got loads and there are a shed load of new ones announced that won't be coming to vita, even though vita has many announced for rest of this year and next, maybe 2019 or 2020 switch will get loads when the vita is put to rest, until then ps4 and vita rule the roost when it comes to Japanese niche games, obviously switch will get some as well, even 3Ds will get a few more here in the west

Arms is a game very much inspired by a old game called virtual on, characters have changed that's all but the core gameplay is virtual on. Splatoon is just another third person shooter, like rachet and clank or kid icarus 3ds. Yep you can hide in the paint but it's just another cover mechanic, Nintendo haven't innovated with games for a long time, they just keep rehashing all their franchises, just like most other devs, Nintendo have been doing it since NES days, we are now on the 9th version of mario kart, who knows how many Kirby platformers that are all similar just like Yoshi games, innovative software I don't think so and now yet another mario platformers on the way, oh yeah you can swap into other bodies, just like you could in The 3Rd Birthday by square, yep nothing new there. I will say though a few of their games are fun to play like xeno, sin & Punishment and yes the long running mario kart series and maybe metroid, everythingelse is take it or leave it for me. I may have missed a few others but I doubt it,

Re: Monkey Island Creator's Thimbleweed Park Is Coming To Switch

@Equinox
Regardless, there are many point and click games available for consoles or handheld, unlike your original comment says, ps4 has lots and it can use motion controls, but controls don't mean anything, don't matter what u use to control the hand or crosshair or use a mouse or button to click, the end product is the same, like I said only the switch is lacking in these games unlike the rest, no idea how you came up with the idea that switch was the only real choice, that couldn't be further from the truth, the games i mentioned are just a few vita ones plus some of them are on os4, plus many others. Also phones, tablets have many,, all multimedia devices with ability to play games, switch is the only one that isn't multimedia, maybe in the future or maybe not

Re: Monkey Island Creator's Thimbleweed Park Is Coming To Switch

@Equinox
Geezer guy, you ain't clued up at all, steam, ps4 and vita have loads. The only hardware that doesn't is switch, here is a few examples Full Throttle remastered, Day of the Tentacle remastered, Broken Sword 5, Grim Fandango remastered, Dying Reborn, The walking Dead series, Wolf among us, Machinarium, Myst, Broken Age, there are more and that's not counting the Japanese ones

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

WhistleFish

Well he isn't wrong about 3rd party, the big guys are avoiding the switch like the plague, they don't find it New & Tasty. Can't blame them really, especially reading many comments on many articles bitching about 3rd party devs and their games, got to say many switch owners don't deserve them, they do right releasing on other hardware where they are more appreciated, it's not all bad, hmm yes it is actually

Re: Sales Data For 2017 Reveals Nintendo Is Killing It In Japan

WhistleFish

@Equinox
I know you follow mediacreate charts on this site, and you don't get any more reliable than them, so you must also know those vita numbers are wrong, way wrong. Mediacreate/famitsu has vita sales so far this year in Japan over 210 thousand, vita sold 75 thousand the first week of January then 43 thousand week after, then came the big drop to 12 thousand then it evened out for a short while at 7 thousand ish. Then switch came and numbers dropped to 5 thousand for a few weeks then down to 4 thousand a week for past few months. Yes it lost sales to switch but it was already on a decline thanks to 3ds but it's market share in Japan is good for a niche handheld, that's basically what it's become. Worldwide it's king of Japanese niche games that are constantly been localised for it, that's why ppl still buy it worldwide and for that reason only even though you have to buy it on amazon or eBay over here apart from independent shops like the one near me where you can still buy it. I like my Vita but also like my Nintendo hardware I own . Also the lifetime sales of vita in Japan is also wrong in this article, it's at 5.650 million according to mediacreate. I do believe switch will take Japanese software from vita slowly then it will build up but not for a few years yet, there are to many games been released fir it this year and next for switch to have that impact on it, also ps4 will have a impact on it, it's already getting a load of niche games for it that aren't coming to vita. Sorry guy it seems like I am following you around today, but I have to answer comments that are misinformed.

Re: Sales Data For 2017 Reveals Nintendo Is Killing It In Japan

WhistleFish

Don't know where Nintendo life got this garbage info but mediacreate has vita over 200 thousand so far this year and they are very reliable. Not sure about other hardware numbers, I didn't check them out, just vita ones cause I knew something was wrong, plus lifetime sales was also wrong it's 5.650 million ish, something tells me the rest is also wrong, hardware is probably more for all of it. From what I can see NL missed a 0 of that 26 at the end and that would put it in-line with media create sales

Re: NIS America Announces The Longest Five Minutes And Penny Punching Princess For Switch

WhistleFish

@Jessica286
If you took the time to look elsewhere, you would find that both games are coming to vita, plus NIS also announced another game at the same time as these 2 called demon gaze 2 for vita and ps4 but no switch version, it ain't bye bye just yet, not with many Japanese games still been made for it. Unlike many I keep myself informed of althings game related, with the info I have there are still over 100 vita games to come this year and many announced for next, vita will die but not for at least 2 more years, not with indie and Japanese games still been made, just like 3ds really. Hardware sales will stop first, even wii u still gets some games and production stopped a while ago

Re: NIS America Announces The Longest Five Minutes And Penny Punching Princess For Switch

WhistleFish

@Equinox
Both games are coming to vita on same day as switch, plus many more that aren't coming to switch. It's far from taking the niche market from vita, if anything it's the ps4 that's getting most exclusives that don't make it to vita. It would be great for switch to get them all but it ain't happening, over 100 Japan games release for vita this year with many announced for next, can't see where your coming from just because a few switch announcements here and there. Also the slow sales don't matter, devs only need to sell between 20-30 thousand to make money with low budget games, vita has 5.7 million users according to mediacreate, that's more than enough for devs to keep making games for it and like you said it's still selling even if sales are slow which they usually are until black Friday and Christmas when there is a massive jump like there is every year. Vita was selling low numbers like this last year, like I said ps4 is getting many announcements and I mean many unlike the switch. Switch will get Japan games though just like 3ds did and still does but it won't be taking anything away from vita.

@Nico85
Wasn't trying to be negative, I was just saying I have seen it all before, I have read many comments over the months saying that it's a new idea, but it ain't, don't get me wrong I think it will be one of the switch best sellers, but then again I also think mario+rabbids will be a biggie, though it reminds me of the x-com games, only with different make up. I would like to see new games I haven't ever seen before, Arms isn't one of them, it's more like virtual on at its core, I am sure there are games that could be made that don't play like anything we haven't seen before, hoping so
