It's worth loading up the Switch eShop once in a while just to see what's new in the coming soon section. Today we spotted Beach Buggy Racing is lined up for release on the 27th of July for the princely sum of £9.99. The North American release is likely to be at the same time.
Developed by Vector Unit, Beach Buggy Racing looks like a budget version of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but it might well be a lot of fun still. Here's some blurb from the game bio to give you an idea of what to expect:
Drive into an action-packed, surprise-filled world of off-road kart racing mayhem! Race against a field of rival drivers, each with unique personalities and special abilities. Build a collection of crazy powerups, like Dodgeball Frenzy, Fireball, and Oil Slick. Unlock and upgrade a variety of cars, from dune buggies to monster trucks. Test your skills in 6 different game modes on 12 imaginative 3D race tracks, against a pack of tropical-loving rivals with a serious case of road rage!
This game is on practically every platform known to mankind including smartphones and even Amazon Fire TV, so we should probably keep our expectations in check. Let us know if you plan to pick this up in just over a week for your Switch.

I think I'll pass, I've been spoiled by Mario kart 8 on my Switch.
this looks like a budget version of Mario kart 8, which could be fun will wait for a review first as I have Mario kart 8 so would only consider if its any good.
Nope.
Another quality 3rd party game.......oh.......~leaves room~
The advert says free, but the eshop says £9.99, HA! Isn't that against advertising LAW.
Just looks like a rip off of MarioKart
YEY! More any more shovelware
Hell no!
Could be interesting. I'll check out the (likely) ad-ridden mobile version to try it out first.
maybe I will give it a try... for free... on my tablet...
My kids have had the the free version on their tablets for a while now and I bought the ps4 version a couple of years ago when it was on sale for like $3. Decent little game but no where close to MK8D of course.
Hopefully this game isn't a buggy mess!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Fast RMX is a 3rd Party title and that game is fantastic. Never judge a book by it's cover.
been on every format except my toaster & they want how much for this piece of garbage
This game was a dreadful mess on PS4 years ago, and was cheaper there too. Not worth the cash.
If it ever goes on sale for 2 or 3 quid, I'll give it a go.
I think I'll wait for the reviews. But I gotta admit, what I've seen here doesn't look too terrible. But is it good enough to drag my ink-tainted Inkling body off of the Splattlefield? Probably not.
$10?! No way. It's free on mobile devices and Fire/Apple TV with controller support. Charge $2.99 and I'd pick it up. Anything over that and the value is just not there.
@Switch81tch Which version? But I definitely remember it and have played it, on the Commodore Amiga:
Vector Unit has a good reputation in making racing games like Riptide and Shine Runner. We have to wait and see if there is a difference between mobile and console (handheld) version.
It's a great great. I've had it for a while although it's still free on iOS.
I played it on PS4 when it came out in 2015. I think it was either free or heavily discounted with PS+. Its not bad at all. I wouldn't say there's any reason to buy it if you already own Mario Kart, but its not a bad game. I'd say its one of the better MK clones I've played.
I love the cartoony look of those tropical tracks. If the gameplay is solid, I'll definitely spring for it. Looking forward to NL's review. Thanks
@ThanosReXXX that was great. Amiga 1200. The memories, music and sounds fx has made my day.
The shovelware begins.
Looks like a Gamecube era game (and a ropey one at that), just with upped resolution.
Give my regards to the bottom of the barrel.
Man, this is literally YEARS old, I played this back in 2015 on my smart phone, and even back then, it was already around a year old.
But having said that, it's not a bad game and it does have some entertainment value. Can't hold a candle to Mario Kart, though, but as long as you're not expecting it to, this is still a decent kart racer, especially for this price.
@UK-Nintendo I still have all my Amiga's: A500, A500+ with
modkickstart select switch, A1200 and CD32...@ThanosReXXX wow. I did play a lot of great games on that systems. Sadly my elder brother sold it along with all the games and copied games. 😉
i'll... just wait for a review.
Hmmm, seems a bit much for a game that is free on mobiles. But the game doesn't look terrible, maybe there'll be an advantage to the game on Switch, like how that music game is free on mobiles, but has everything unlocked on Switch? I won't hold my breath, but if it reviews well enough, it might pop up on my radar.
this is the kind of krap I can find on the app store of my iPad for me
I do understand the excitement though, as there is not much else to play on the Switch. Something is better than nothing, I guess.
@Aryx Oh dat excitement! And you're wrong, sadly. There' already enough stuff on the Switch, I own 13 games from good to great to masterpiece, covering a bunch of genres, let alone Splatoon 2. Haha nice try!
Other than MK8, all I want is a new Sega Racing in the kart racer genre
It's way cheaper on PS4.
Honestly, with me playing mostly only MK8Deluxe and the occasional FAST RMX, I have no reason to get anymore racing games unless we do get a new Mario Kart on Switch
@UK-Nintendo SOLD IT???
Aw man, that must have hurt, and I speak from experience: I started out with an MSX, even though most of my friends had a C64. Later on, when they upgraded to Amiga's, I also decided to do that and sold my MSX. That's the biggest mistake I ever made, and I still regret it to this day.
Since then, I vowed NEVER to sell any system again, so that's why I still have all of them, and hundreds of games.
Then, when the N64 arrived, I moved from home computers to consoles, and have stayed with them ever since, eventually also buying a Sega Dreamcast and an Xbox 360, but other than that, I only have Nintendo systems.
As for the Amiga: if you would still like to be able to play these games, then I can definitely recommend WinUAE, the best Amiga emulator there is. It can load floppy files, hard disk files and CD-ROMS/CD32 games.
Obviously, WinUAE is the Windows version, but the emulator is available for practically every platform imaginable. I also have it installed on my modded Wii, and it works like a charm, so that might be something for you to look into, to be able to play your old favorites again.
As for my personal regret: luckily, I also found a great MSX emulator, so I'm also playing my old favorites again...
lol yeah people are going to buy this...when Mario Kart 8 Deluxe exist.
The people calling this game shovelware have no idea what they're talking about. It's a great little racer. The problem is that it's been a free download for years now.
Looks like MySims Racing Wii.
@ThanosReXXX thanks. Will look into that.
Don't need it. I want a realistic racing game for Switch. We already have a way better Kart game and now need a realistic game not another kart scam.
@ThanosReXXX : Amiga.. Now thats good memories.
Oh i had this game on Ps4...it was bad. deleted it 3 hours later.
This game is made by one of the better Android/IOS developers. "Vector Unit"
I own this game on NVIDIA Shield TV and PS4. Its better than it looks.
Expect them to release Riptide Renegade to Switch too which is a good waterjet game.
Fun game. But for free, as for IOS and Android.
@Ventilator
Riptide GP2 is also awesome. For Riptide I can pay (and will),for this ( Buggy ) - no way.
@Switch81tch played the 3 screen arcade back in the day and had the ELite home conversion for c64. Great game
@Ventilator Yeah, great memories indeed. It was definitely way ahead of its time. Sad to see it fail so badly later on in its life...
On topic:
So, Riptide is also from these guys, huh?
Wouldn't mind seeing that on the Switch with some actually decent controls, since that was definitely an entertaining game.
Now coming in August according to Vector Cell...
https://twitter.com/vectorunit/status/887400990638342144
@Ventilator Came here to say the same thing. The takeway from this is that Vector Unit is making Switch games now, which is good news. I wouldn't be surprised if Riptide is released soon, and maybe perhaps whatever new game they make.
Holy hell, this looks so generic and uninspired, yuk! Those graphics though, they would look more at home on N64.
Hmmm......pass. Why Nintendo thinks this is what we want?
@Racthet916 Trus me. This video is from old phone version and NOT console version.
Console versions looks alot better, and runs at 1080p/60.
Try it on PS4 or NVIDIA Shield TV. Both have same high-end version of the game.
@premko1 : I think Riptide Renegade will be ported instead of GP 2 as its the newest.
@ThanosReXXX : Riptide Renegade will run at 1080p/60 on Switch, because it already does on NVIDIA Shield TV which have same GPU as Switch.
As for Amiga. I still have them all inclduing 2 * CD3'2, CDTV, A1200T +++
I may still have maybe the most hardware expanded Amiga 500+ in the world.
@nab1 Exactly. We can also hope that Madfingergames jumps onto Switch.
Madfingers main developer console is NVIDIA Shield TV.
They have games like Shadowgun Deadzone (cross-platform play FPS), Dead Trigger 1+2, Shadowgun Legends and some.
That developer refuse to make games for PC, Xbox and PS4.
But Switch hsave same GPU as their main developer unit... Tegra X1.
This brand new online FPS new runs on same hardware as Switch.
Runs at locked 1080p/60 on "Switch GPU"
Change YT settings to 1080p/60 on video.

Ha ha ha no. They should have released this at launch as an alternative to Zelda before MK8D came out. Pass for me.
Off topic, but it would be neat to have a follow up to Beetle Adventure racing on the Switch
Have on my Nvidia Shield Tablet so I can just play it on my TV by connecting it then using my Nvidia Shield Controller......but if you don't have all that you might want it I guess, but I wouldn't pay for it...
Think I played this on my first smartphone.
Their Riptide games are pretty good. Would fill the gap for Wave Race, in the way that Fast Racing Neo has for F-Zero NX or whatever they call it.
Mario kart clone for mobile, that's what it reminds me off, pointless when you have the real thing
You've tried the best (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) now try the rest....yeah lol!
@Ventilator Good stuff, man. Good stuff...
@Switch81tch It certainly was, and it had some pretty good arcade conversions of games as well as a lot of great original games, that I have never seen on any other platform.
And even with multi-platform games, the Amiga often times had the better graphics and sound. Yeah, the good old days. Had a blast back then.
If the port came out before Mario Kart 8, it would have been luckier. As it stands, however, it's a decent game on its own, especially on any non-Nintendo platform. It does its job, so to speak.
Hi all
Played this over a year ago not to bad for a free to play game
It is on android store
Maybe worth a look if you want another cart game
It was quiet fun
Another app that is ported to the switch...this better not be a trend that takes mediocre games for ios/android and ports them to the store.
Jesus why all the negativity. Vector Unit are one of the best developers out there, who truly interact with the fans and provide quality games. Their riptide games are superb, and I have Beach Buggy racing on my iPhone, iPad and Xbox One.
Granted it doesn't have to compete with MARIO Kart on those platforms and it does on Switch. But come on! This is £9.99 and provides a LOT of game for your money.
Well worth it IMHO.
I'd definitely consider it if it was a Micro Machines clone instead of a Mario Kart ripoff. I always need isometric multiplayer racers on my consoles.
I wonder if it has Online Multiplayer.
While this doesn't look awful, I'm not buying it. Mario Kart 8 and Fast RMX fill the void nicely, until we get something like Ridge Racer or realistic game.
I see this is £2.49 in the PS store at the moment.
Lol, another piece of shovelware!
