Re: Poll: Do You Three-Star-Gold Every Mario World Grand Prix Before Moving On To The Next?

Webheadd

Yes, but I do it a bit differently. I three star every cup on a CC class before moving on to the next class, which makes more sense to me. I do all cups in 50cc at 3 stars, then all cups in 100cc at 4 stars, then 150cc.

You wouldn’t change out the size of your motor on a real go kart or bike before completing a tournament in its class. To do all CCs of one cup first is the true chaotic method (though Nintendo should have grouped by class rather than cup, to be fair)

Re: Poll: What Are Your Hype Levels for Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Webheadd

I’m really excited for it but the top tier of hype won’t hit until like a week or two before release. I’ve been playing through all the Fromsoft Soulsborne games so that’s had me pretty busy games wise. Also decided to revisit Elden Ring for NG+ a year after platinuming it so I’m good till release date for games.

Re: Persona 3 Portable & Persona 4 Golden Arrive On Nintendo Switch January 2023

These are coming too late to Switch for me , lol. I waited years for them to announce P5R for Switch but finally caved and played through it (and platinumed it) on PS4 last year. And while I still have P4G to play and finish on a modern console (never did finish it on my friend's Vita copy - got about 90% through it), and haven't touched P3P before, I'll have a Steam Deck by the time they release for Switch, negating a LOT of me bothering with 3rd party releases on it. I just think it's funny, mg most wanted pipedream Switch ports get announced right when I start pulling away from the console 🙃

Re: Talking Point: What Was Your First Legend Of Zelda Game?

Webheadd

The very first time I saw and played a Zelda game it was the original Legend of Zelda on NES. I was 5 when it released but didn't come across the game until I was about 7 or 8 and an older kid across the street from us had it. Didn't play a lot of it, but it was a very clear memory.

The Zelda game I consider to be my first true forray into the series was A Link to the Past. We would rent an SNES from our local video rental store for mine and my brother's birthdays and ALTTP was one that always grabbed my attention thanks to my earlier exposure to the original, and it was the game that made 10 year old me decide to save every penny from my paper route, bottle returns from bottles we collected from local construction sites, birthday/Christmas money, and bought my own SNES. And I didn't get the bundle that came with Super Mario World for quite a bit cheaper than buying the core system plus a game, I saved for an extra length of time so I could get the system by itself and ALTTP as, while it was more expensive than the SMW bundle, it was still cheaper than getting the bundle PLUS another game. All I cared about right then and there was playing ALTTP in full, on my own SNES, and it is STILL my all-time favourite video game.

Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?

First game I remember playing was at the age of 4, Nintendo's port of Donkey Kong for CollecoVision. My Dad eventually sold his CollecoVision to buy us an NES a few years later, but we'd rented one a few times before then.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 28th)

Just about finished my Bloodborne playthrough. Played a good chunk back in 2018 when it came to PS Plus and was my first Fromsoftware game, but my subscription expired before I could finish it. It was HARD. Never got back to it, partly because of the difficulty. Since then, I'd played a little Sekiro, Dark Souls Remastered, and Demon's Souls remake, but Elden Ring really opened the flood gates for me. I Platinumed Elden Ring, then I immediately did the same for Sekiro, then back to Bloodborne. It's like it's on easy mode this time around after all the time I've spent in those games since 2018, and I can't get enough of them.

@Spiders yeah, I played it the moment it unlocked for PC. It was pretty bad, like the whole game's framerate would pause for a second or two when loading areas of the game, so bad that it killed me during the intro twice. Still performed better with the day one patch than during review period from what I've seen. I also tweaked my NVIDIA Control Panel settings with some recommended settings I found that had improved it. Was playing coop for a couple of hours yesterday and they did a small update yesterday that improved it even further, very smooth.

Re: The Best Switch Joy-Con Finally Get A Grip For TV Play

@JaxonH

Wired - agreed, wired is a no-go for me
No gyro - bummer, but not the end of the world
No HD rumble - couldn't care less
No rumble AT ALL, even basic rumble - couldn't care less
No NFC - oh no, all the amiibo I never scan!
Needlessly bulky instead of finding middle ground - soooooo bulky. It almost feels like an Xbox controller.

The thing about the Hori Split Pad Pro is that it brings proper analog sticks to the Switch in handheld, feels better in the hand than the non-ergonomic joycon, and makes shooters feel waaaaaay better (aside from the lack of gyro, which I agree is nice to have). In a pinch, this is a great secondary pro controller for multiplayer. I'd never play with it docked, but I can see how some who already have them would opt to grab the add-on rather than another controller.

Re: Best Metroid Games Of All Time

Webheadd

Hahahaha. You seriously included the prime Trilogy in this list? Not exactly fair including a port compilation, doesn't really count as an entry in the Metroid series if the individual games are there, too. Gonna just consider Super Metroid as the true and rightful winner!

Re: Customise Your Nintendo Switch With These 'Safe' Console Skins

Webheadd

I'm inclined to believe them when they say they're safe, considering they had this product lined up before the Switch even launched, but pulled it when they got their hands on the Switch and realized it would damage the finish. Glad to see they reworked it and are back! (but I have neon yellow joycon now, so too late for me)

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th November (North America)

Webheadd

Damn, this is a big week. I'll be getting:

Doom (when the price drops)
LA Noire (depending on reviews)
Batman
Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 (when the price drops)
Snipperclips DLC (after I finally finish the main game)
Hulu (to see if there's any free stuff)

Re: Oxenfree Comes to the North American eShop on 6th October

@Kobeskillz I don't have an Xbox One and never will because all the Xbox exclusives I want to play are available for PC, but then it's also currently part of a Humble Bundle for a $7 average.

I could get it there, but I want it on Switch because I want it on the hybrid platform, not tethered to my PC which is stationary. Not a slap in the face, many will make their purchase decision based off their own individual wants and which platform(s) are available to them (I also have a PS4). There are a number of games that I've decided to pay a little bit more for, or have a slightly less experience with graphically because I want that option of on the go gaming, and the more people that support these titles on Switch while available elsewhere (often for less because they've been there a while), or even double dip, the more developers will take note that it's worth putting them out for it as well.

Re: Nintendo Download: 21st September (North America)

@lillith I played through Thimbleweed Park when it was released for PC and I wish I'd waited for Switch, simply for the mobility factor as I didn't want to put it down! It's really fantastic, no matter which platform you decide on.

Just Steamworld Dig 2 for me this week. Would have been Thimbleweed Park as well if I didn't already have a Steam copy.
