As you'll no doubt be aware if you're an eager Fire Emblem fan, there's plenty of DLC on the way for Fire Emblem: Three Houses on Nintendo Switch.
Previous descriptions of the upcoming DLC have been a little vague, which is perhaps to be expected so far in advance, but according to SerenesForest, the as of yet unreleased Waves 3 and 4 of Three Houses' additional content have now been detailed in a guidebook published by Famitsu.
Here are those details, translated by SerenesForest:
Wave 3
Free DLC
- New playable character: Jeritza (certain routes only)
- New support conversations [presumably featuring Jeritza]
- New activities
- New online features
Paid DLC
- New playable character: Anna
- New monastery facilities
- New online [features?]
- Anna and Jeritza paralogue
- New quests (around 10)
- New activities: Sauna [who didn’t see this coming?], playing with dogs and cats(!)
- New costumes: Maid, Butler and more
- New battalions: Maid and Butler
Wave 4
Paid DLC
- Side story: Abyss Mode
- New playable characters: Juris, Balthazar, Constanze and Javi [tentative translations]
- New support conversations
- New monastery facilities
- New online features
- New classes (4)
- New enemy monsters
- New hero relics
- New paralogues
- New quests
- New battalions
- New gambits
- New costumes for Byleth (male), Byleth (female) and Sothis
Nintendo hasn't officially revealed details of these waves as of yet, but assuming no errors have been made during translation, we have little reason to doubt a Famitsu publication.

Haven’t picked up the game yet but Anna being paid DLC is extremely fitting. Well played.
I finished up a second play through 2 weeks ago and I’m burnt out because of it.
I plan on coming back to the game when all the dlc is released.
As much as I dislike the non-linear style the modern FEs go for I suppose it does itself better to additional DLC units, I might even use them if they're fully integrated into the actual campaign instead of some side content. Though I would hope with all the additional classes and whatnot they edit the main campaign to give the enemies access to those as well.
Unless they come out with a new route that actually has an 'ultimate route', I doubt I will be picking up the game again. The split routes just don't work for me despite the obvious quality the gameplay provides.
I am so frickin excited
Interesting. I wonder how the Abyss mode is. I recall someone datamined another mode that wasn't maddening, but it wasn't complete. I wonder if its that.
Also, lol well, figured that the sauna will have its use eventually, as I always wondered why the location place popped up when you entered the area and there was nothing to do.
Looking forward to it, especially the last DLC with new story.
Holy crow! Yes please! I need another excuse to play this amazing game for the fourth time!
Screams in Fangirl
Still playing AStral Chain. Once that's done I'll follow it up with a second play through in FE in newest hardest mode possible. Maybe BL this time
I have not bought the DLC yet, since the content until now was meh. This might chsnge with wave 3 and 4 ( combined)
Oh so nothing of actual worth.
Good.
They also have bikini outfits under the paid DLC
ATTACK MY SEXY MAID BATTALION!
@Paraka You have irrational issues with this game, and it’s honestly disturbing.
This would have been nice when I was actually playing the game the first time. I might pick up the dlc down the line though if that last dlc is actually a separate story campaign.
@Nerdfather1 - Name what I have issues with about the game. I am honestly curious.
Cause my intent isn't directed at the game.
I'm more interested in LM3's DLC, personally.
I love fire emblem and the battle system is excellent...but the game is a slog because of the school premise. Going around and talking to everyone over and over so you can maximize your relationships was brutal. I also didn't like the gift system so you could train everyone. 6/10 game for me. Awesome battle system, okay story, brutal side activities that are just there to take up time. I beat it, but only because I didn't want to feel the 50+ hours were wasted. No way i can play through it again.
Currently working on my second playthrough (alternate path of the Black Eagles — kept a save file at the fork), but I can't imagine myself playing BL and GD anytime soon. Will come back to them after all the DLC is released and play everything else then.
I can hear the creaking of the beams. Is that the sound of impending financial doom I hear? Games live and breathe on their DLC these days and with the utterly tepid late game response to Fire Emblem: Three Houses, a smart man would bet everything they had on this DLC flopping like an inebriated moose with two hooves tied together. More and more Fire Emblem: Three Houses proves that it does not have any sustainability and with every passing day fades more and ever more into obscurity.
Interesting, I’m on my second play through finishing up the Golden Deer route. Not bored with this game yet.
Oh good more content...after my 4th playthrough there's still more lol. 320 hours and counting...
We need more save files!!!!!
@Patron No. The game is doing just fine. It is only you that is ignorant and obsessed with the game financial state.
Pathetic.
It irks me that the DLC seems to slot into the existing four story arcs.
I love the game but will I replay a route I’ve alreasy taken for the benefit of a single playable character and extra side-quests.
I would have preferred an isolated story or a telling of events from a certain perspective that could be played agnostic to which route you took.
Great they are filling in parts of the story, but I’ve invested 120 hours getting through 1.6 playthroughs; I’d rather play out the two remaining routes than pick up a character for a few extra chats.
Maybe they will give some kind of fast track mode for people who have already completed the arc once...
Yay! Anna is my <3
I don't see myself going back again when Edelgard was so obviously right.
@Patron It's a commercial and critical success, rated among the best in the franchise.
I think the game's doing fine, champ. If you don't like it, that's cool, but let's not pretend the game is a failure in any way.
Lay it on me when I am already done with the game. No matter. The second playthrough will be more refreshing now
I was really hoping that they would turn the Guard at the Monastery Gate who says, "GREETINGS PROFESSOR!" (in a voice that sounds rather intriguingly similar to Fry from Futurama) into a named, playable character. He's easily the coolest, friendliest, and memorable unnamed NPC in the entire game.
Dammit; wish I hadn't started with Edelgard route then. I've probably missed recruitment time for him and will have to replay from New Game Plus.
@andywitmyer I saw an article on Kotaku where someone modded the game so you could have tea parties with him. (And the death knight also)
I was really hoping for the story DLC to be a route where all three factions come together in the end. But it doesn't look like that's the case.
@Patron What is your frakking vendetta with this game? You are literally the only jerk going around attacking this game in this manner.
@Heavyarms55 some people like him just want to be idiots ignore him.
It all sounds very promising. I'm doing a playthrough with each DLC wave. The side story is most intriguing. Will it tell the events of what happened after Byleth fell into the abyss and disappeared for 5 years? Maybe that's when Byleth meets these new characters.
Also I was talking with a friend about how ridiculous it would be if they made petting dogs and cats paid DLC... They really did it...
I’m STRUGGLING to finish my first play through, to be honest. I’m determined to eventually see the end, but man.. what a frigging chore. There would have to be a lot more than this to bite at DLC. The writing and voice acting became so grating for me that I just began clicking the button as fast as I possibly could to get out of it, and even that wasn’t fast enough. The fact I have to listen to this drivel every time I want to increase support just drives me nutso. Those recycled character animations, like what the actual what were they thinking? If I see Byleth go to put his hand to his chin but not actually touch it one more time I’m gonna scream. The graphics are SO so sloppy. The battles were great at first but became so repetitive in later game. Ugh, my biggest disappointment of the Switch gen, honestly. Smash that dislike button if you must, but I know a lot of you know what I’m talking about. This was a rush job with a piss poor localization.
@ILikeStake eh, I think you did it wrong. The school and lost item thing was something there to do if you happened across one of the characters if you were interested in seeing what they had to say between chapters. You absolutely didn't have to ever do it. Its busy work, but it's just there if you enjoy the busy work.
The other school thing like talking to everyone, training yourself, and teaching: well, you probably should train yourself but you can skip talking to everyone if you dont care about the characters (you monster), and the teaching can and probably should be automated. Basically, the thing you don't like about the game, you don't have to do them
@andywitmyer He might be, honestly. I mean, the wave four characters aren't anybody we already know. They could just give him a name and there you go.
@Kriven each of the arcs unique missions are about 13ish chapters if I remember. Though, because how character distribution works, you probably will have a few different paralogues each playthrough. Estimating, there are about 50ish unique missions total and the ones that repeat you play with mostly different units. Hell, that's more variety than any other fire emblem game.
See, I assumed the dlc would be a mixed, true, route type of thing. I mean, if i beat the game three times why would I go back for a couple of missions and Anna? That said, that depends on what abyss mode is and 4 new classes and shit sort of makes me excited. Wave 3, don't give an ass.
@Heavyarms55 eh, that's not necessarily true. Whatever abyss mode is might not be a difficulty mode and where exactly would new characters and quest and s*** fit in except for a new route. Wave four seems too substantial to not add something like a new route.
@Xansies I think by quests they are just talking about those little errands you do in the monestary. There is plenty of room to add a bunch more of those.
Abyss mode sounds like a difficulty, but I suppose it could be something else.
@Heavyarms55 just seems odd that if that's what's it was it there wouldn't be almost a year between launch and the end of the dlc. Though still, 4 more classes has my a little hyped
I said it on another thread but I think Nintendo would be much wiser if they had considered releasing standalone DLC for games like these instead.
Say a Fire Emblem: Three Houses multiplayer mode featuring said characters and requires the Nintendo Switch Online service to download for free (or a smaller then DLC price fee).
Leave the single player and meaty stuff on cartridges which then can be left at home. While the downloaded multiplayer element would effectively be a walking advertisement for the game.
