Another week begins, but it's a little bit more special as the festive season is just around the corner. The European Nintendo Download update promises a notable Wii U release along with plenty more besides, including more Picross, downloadable videos and another ridiculously long list of discounts - let's get to it.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (WayForward, €16.99 / £15.99) - WayForward's best-known franchise makes the leap to HD for the first time (outside of re-releases); originally funded on Kickstarter, it's been a long wait for this adventure. A chance to introduce Shantae and company to a new audience, we can expect this one to stick to the core formula as new players get used to hair whipping and transformations brought on by dancing. We'll whip out a review once we've had a chance to get through the full adventure. Available from 20th December.
Back to Bed (Bedtime Digital, €9.99 / £8.99) - A title previously released on smart devices and PSN (including PS4 and Vita), this is a puzzle game with an isometric camera view. The goal is to guide your sleeping protagonists safely through a variety of areas, no doubt encountering some interesting obstacles in his dream state.
RADIANTFLUX: HYPERFRACTAL (TACS Games, €2.99 / £2.99) - An intriguing looking title with a plot centred around hacking; in execution it looks like a blend of hacker simulation combined with minigames. For example there appear to be aspects of shoot 'em up play, through to minesweeper, through to some play similar to the original DOOM. We'll give this one a try and let you know what we think.
Zombie Brigade: No Brain No Gain (Cypronia, €4.99 / £4.49 or free until 25th December for those that own Cube Life: Island Survival) - This is a runner that makes heavy use of memes (or things claiming to be memes) for comedic effect. That should give you an idea of whether this appeals to you on any level.

Picross e7 (Jupiter Corporation, €5.00 / £4.50) - As the name makes clear, this is a series that has a long history on the 3DS eShop. This one has over 300 puzzles to tackle, including 'Mega' size options, while a new feature is the ability to mark squares of interest without being penalised.
Geki Yaba Runner Deluxe (QubicGames, €4.99 / £4.49) - In a sense a follow up to 2 Fast 4 Gnomz, this sees those gnomes transform in order to tackle over 100 new levels; the developer states that these fast paced platforming challenges are among the most challenges players will face. Challenge accepted?
Touch Battle Tank - Tag Combat (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99 / £3.99) - A 3D tank battle game, and not the first in this series, and this time it introduces local multiplayer and a whole lot of new stages. New tank types include 'warping' ones, and 90 stages are promised.
SKYPEACE (Sonic Powered Co., €0.99 / £0.89) — This is a simple endless runner / flying sidescroller, which arrived in North America back in 2014; it's simple if unremarkable fun, as we explain in our SkyPeace review.
Japanese Rail Sim 3D Monorail Trip to Okinawa (Sonic Powered Co. Ltd, €14.99 / £12.99) - The latest in an established series, this time opting for a monorail rather than conventional rails. These titles typically give you a semi-interactive tour of interesting areas, with plenty of local facts and details also included.

@BensonUii - does that actually work ? I am not sure you can ... would like to hear if its possible (I guess that means waiting till Thursday)
How will I save my money on all these discounted Nintendo games and VC titles? Easy there are none. Just some DLC for 2 games and c'mon, who doesn't own the MK8 DLC at this point? Nintendo you really are the stingiest, most miserly company going. Merry Stingemas from Nintendo!
I thought Nano Assault Neo might be half price seeing as the Japanese are getting it.
http://www.japanesenintendo.com/post/154640303099
That game has never had a decent sale price here. Might pick up Teslagrad but I already have it on disc and I own everything else worth buying. Disappointing!
Bought The Book Of Unwritten Tales 2 last week. Again, I own it on disc. I recommend everyone buy it before its sale price ends.
And no excuse for people to buy SteamWorld Dig now. Great game and even better price.
I speak as a Wii U only owner. It's better for 3DS owners.
wow if you don't have SteamWorld Dig yet that's a STEAL! get it!!! I'm still gonna decide what I want from here. maybe Dual Destinies or one of those Harvest Moon type of games, which one is the best? I've never played one
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice on sale
Yes.. getting this for sure
Think I'll get Duck Tales Remastered on Wii U and Mega Man Collection and Pirate Pop Plus on 3ds while they're discounted. Sad to see no virtual console sales!
Don't have a Wii U, but I'll definitely be getting Shantae, probably on PC. Pirate's Curse was just too good!
Maybe it's time for me to get Conquest and Steamworld Dig, although other discount tempt me...but my backlog stops me from buying too much xD
MEGAMAN LEGACY! HOORAY!
I'm going to use the massive discount on Unwritten Tales 2 here in Australia, oh wait.
I bought a retail physical copy cheaper than the discounted digital version.
Oh my god - Shin Chan is free to download? Used to love that show when I was a kid.
I'll always find something to moan about
They could have discounted Minecraft itself! I'll wait for Christmas sale as the last resort.
Other than that, great sale! Going to get Anna for Fire Emblem
That's a lot of discounts! Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice is a much better price! Sweet!
I backed the Shantae: 1/2 Genie Hero, let still waiting for the Wii EU code. They did give out a free Steam code for the delay, but that still sucks (good job it works on my PC).
That Mega Man Collection price is AMAZING for anyone that doesn't have it.
Picross e7 and Spirit of Justice for me
Adventure Labyrinth Story shall be mine!
Only Fire Emblem Fates DLC for me.
All the year's discounts together. Awesome.
I wonder why there is so many discounts...?
I literally just got Heist last week. If I knew there would be such a massive discount extravaganza, I would have held off!
@Moon I'm wondering if it will be dubbed or not? As their was a 2004 dub for the UK or using the Funimation dub (which is much ruder, so I can't imagine it being on there, also it was not licensed in the UK by Funimation). So it will be a nice surprise, since I really enjoy Shin Chan.
Shantae is an instant download and if I'm reading that correctly it's available from tomorrow? Also Steamworld Heist,Ive been meaning to get it so that half price discount is just great.
@ThomasBW84
I know, Tom! I've been waiting for another discount and I'm glad to get another chance. I mean, six Mega Man games for 1€ each, plus the extras making the remaining 2€, it's the
rightperfect price for me to get the portable counterpart (I already have it on X1) to this collection.@G-Boy Could be something to do with it being Xmas?
Steamworld dig at €1.79 is super cheap.
Don't know if I'll let myself be tempted by the Fire Emblem map bundles for my 2nd playthrough...
Shantae for me, I backed that project
@AlexSora89 If only it was on Wii U.
For those who never played steamworld dig, grab it at this price if you are a fan good games in general it's a steal!
Megaman legacy collection at 7.90 sounds like a decent deal(I don't own any megaman game on VC) And I might be grabbing Spirit of justice as I am currently on the last case of the 3rd orignal adventure and loved DD.
@ThomasBW84 It says Shantae is available from the 20th.Do you think it'll be there from 12am UK time tonight?
Hey that's a lot of sales. Let's all dig through and hate it.
Was hoping for a surprise Breath of the Wild demo
Lot of great discounts; hopefully they travel across the Atlantic!
@jimi Do you enjoy lying? EVERYTHING? Lie. And where did you get my quote "'? Please show me. Who said MK8 DLC was ever overpriced? Me? No! Another lie! I bought it day 1. I said we all pretty much own it. It was great value. I too wish they had made more DLC for the game. They probably are for the Switch. Get your facts straight before you start blurting complete crap.
There's no discounts on any eShop retail games or VC titles. Show some generosity Nintendo!
I'm getting Shantae... on PS4.
YES! Spirit of Justice is going to be on sale!
Just in time because I'm nearly done with Dual Destinies.
@jimi or even sales for the DLC of games like Pikmin 3, Hyrule Warriors, or for many third party games on the eshop (AC III, Splinter Cell, RE Revelations, etc.)
You know what annoys me? I decided to finish Fire Emblem Awakening first before Fates and I have the Fates LE still packaged. I'm still not done with Awakening and now Fates' DLC is on sale!
Do you think there's a chance of the DLC going on sale again?
Electronic Super Joy!
Will get Steamworld Dig on Wii U at that price. Already have the 3DS version but I'd rather play it on the big screen.
@jimi "What? Nintendo? You are discounting tons of DLC for 2 games? But 'everyone' already owns those. Typically Nintendo. Always screwing over customers"
Did I say that? No! Then don't quote it liar!
My Nintendo discounts? Hahahahaha! Brilliant! Any more gems of wisdom?
@Peace-Boy can't you just purchase it and leave it tied to your account? Or does it only work once the game has been launched and got a save file?
Dual Destinies, my wallet is ready. Just finished Investigations 2 last month, high time to continue with this saga!
@nhSnork The DLC has to be bought in game on chapter 6, I just read on Nintendo's website.
By the way, you finished Investigations 2, shouldn't you do Apollo Justice before Dual Destinies?
Goodness! Exactly what is the cream of the crop here?
Minecraft: 1st Birthday? They're just taking the mick now ain't they.
@OorWullie You are right, I did not think of that.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
We have it on 3DS, though, which is arguably for the better.
Another backer here waiting for his Shantae code — even though it's neat WayForward provided Steam codes to backers still waiting, if we have to wait more than a day past the actual launch of the Wii U version for our codes that's pretty lame, considering we've been waiting for over 2 years for this.
@Gonso no profanity, thanks.
Wow, good discounts..... that sure is rare!
Hope US gets them (...nope) I'd buy 2-3 for sure.
Shantae but on Xbox One for me.
Frankly amazed the release being pushed back for Half Genie Hero in the last few months didnt cause it to get moved to Switch.
Then again, now I can double dip and buy the full priced enhanced port of it where she has a spunky new hat.
wow. merry christmas europe!
There are quite some interesting discounts on there. I might get some, but it may still drain my purse!
Discounts are such a double-edged sword!! Finally convinced myself to download the FF Fates Conquest DLC last week, paid full price, and now what's happened!
What about FAST Racing NEO DLC is that also on sale ?
@CapricornDavid mate I did exactly the same lol
Hyperfractal looks pretty neat with all the DOS-like mini-games. Those discounts, wow! Gotta get some for my partner's kids and a couple I missed as well. Makes up for not having another Wii VC title this week. I keep hoping we'll see Excite Bots for Europe or a non-Japan release of Chibi-Robo...
Which Lego game would everyone recommend from the discounts? ( Already have undercover)
Also do these Lego games support off TV?
@G-Boy
I'm assuming they will shut down online servers for WiiU before the end of 2017 or soon after the NS release. So lets try to cash in on Mario Kart 8 just before we kill it
Discounts are not that good except for Steam world dig
Due to Nintendo's policies you'll be paying rental prices for these games
@SLIGEACH_EIRE They did actually put some of their retail and virtual console games on sale about 2 weeks ago. I'd give it another week before they do it again, probably around Boxing Day.
Here's a link to that article: http://www.idigitaltimes.com/black-friday-2016-nintendo-eshop-cyber-deals-45-wii-u-3ds-deals-available-until-dec-5-570314
@Peace-Boy I've beaten that one. Investigation dilogy is a spinoff after all, so I covered the flagship games on DS before it.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero hopefully physical version and Back to Bed for me this week plus one or two of the Lego games discounted, Minecraft Fallout 4 DLC n i may check out the Ice Station Z demo aswell.
So the Nintendo wheel of misfortune landed on MK8 DLC this week eh!?!.....
@rejr is gonna love this , makes complete sense as always🤔
I'll grab teslagrad at that price, looks great and I'm sick of looking for it cheap on disc. I see it as a sub£10 game.
@OorWullie make sure to grab steamworld heist mate, it's a great game. I finished it the other day and will play it through again straight away. I NEVER do this so that's a massive compliment!
The house stuff is going fine by the way, the bank are still talking to me so that's a good sign. It's a slow stressful process I guess 😥
@nhSnork Heh, I did Apollo Justice after both Investigations games. Even though they're spin offs, I value chronology over that pathetic fact.
I will pick up Spirit of Justice to complete my Phoenix Wright Collection.
Merry Christmas to me -
Shantae
Steamworld Heist
Chasing Auroroa
Spirit of justice
Steel Empire
I can see myself buying all of those
Where is Smash 64?
SteamWorld Heist and Shantea Half Genie Hero for me. Happy Holidays my fellow Toadians!
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice looks like a pretty sweet deal! Will probably buy if I have enough money left, the demo left me drooling. It'll look good right next to Dual Destinies!
Grab those repeat deals while you can! Who knows when they'll stop having the same deals on both consoles after the Switch arrives....
so buying all the fire emblem fates add ons costs more than the full game seriously.
I'll buy Shantae for sure I love the series. I think I'll get Spirit of Justice at that price and Steel Empire cos it's never on sale also FE map pack 2 to make my copy of Fates complete.
Nice - thanks for letting me know !
Are the Lego games defiantly on offer until Jan 5th?
Thanks for the tip, bought Heist at 7.50
