If they were going to rerelease those games, the 3DS would have been the perfect platform to release them on. Not sure how the 3D effect would work on the Switch.
@Pokester99 That is the weakest response ever. Game Freak chose Bandai Namco, TiMi and ILCA to make the games. Why is it ok to whine and blame Game Freak for games you don't like, but don't praise Game Freak for games that are well received by fans? You are just as bad as the morons that criticize Kathleen Kennedy when they don't like something in Star Wars, but never praise her when there is something they do like in Star Wars.
@Kelnos @Pokester99 @dont_simp_for_them Yes, I know, I was hoping Pokestar99 would say something like "thank you Bandai Namco", and he did. Funny that Pokester99 says thanks to Namco but complains about Game Freak when Game Freak aren't the ones developing UNITE and BDSP. Shouldn't you be praising Game Freak since the answer to his leading question: "Who gets a say into what should or shouldn't be published?" is Game Freak? You aren't a hypocrite are you Pokester99?
This could have been avoided if they simply applied for the IP before starting the Kickstarter. Also, do people here think that the Legal team for Nintendo are also employed in the Game Development teams?
@Pokester99 Game Freak own the brand, but The Pokémon Company has the say in what is published, along with Nintendo. Game Freak did a great job with New Pokémon Snap.
@clvr who said I am unaware of the channel and video? Also I said the animation was impressive. Why are you so defensive? And since you drew attention to my profile pic, just like the creator, I made it in Blender using assets taken from Pokemon games.
I love these kinds of games so I will be picking them up at next payday. Not sure why people are moaning about the price here in the UK, Nintendo have put a lot of work into these. £25 per game seems reasonable. I do wish there was a physical release though.
@LXP8 I certainly think developers should be paid. You are the one moaning about the price of TWO games, not one, being packaged together at £50 by dismissing it as "just a visual novel" when they are clearly more than that. Compare the games to their original form and you can clearly see the developers of these remakes have done a lot of work to more than justify the price of the games.
Well, this certainly was a great CGI video, but it is really easy to do a CGI video compared to a full game. I love the people moaning about Gamefreak when Gamefreak aren't the ones developing the Sinnoh remakes. Gamefreak are making Legends Arceus, which from the early footage shown is more along the lines of this CGI video.
@LXP8 Comparing second hand prices to the day one price? Just admit you are cheap and the people who put a lot of work into this game don't deserve to get paid.
I hope these do well for Nintendo so they make a new entry. I was a little put off by the UK price, until I realized you get both games for £50. £25 for a fun detective game seems fine by me.
@LXP8 Yeah, I agree, £50 is too much. I mean, all they did was completely update every single drawing in the game, put in a few animations, hire a team of voice actors to fully voice both games, make a complete translation from the previous Japanese only release, and add in a bunch of quality of life upgrades. They were SUPER lazy on this.
£50 gets you both games btw. £25 each. You probably paid more for Another Code, Hotel Dusk and the Ace Attorney games (if you bought them)
@Euro-B You don't know how to use quotation marks when typing. Only use them when you are actually quoting what someone actually said, not what you interpret. Also, I said the games are "Bad/disappointing" and "mediocre to bad".
Your opinion on the games, in your words:
Black Knight - "Nothing 'Super Special'"
Lost Word - "mediocre"
Forces - "mediocre like Forces"
Sonic 06 - "nothing like 06 or Boom" with the context they are worse than mediocre, which means bad.
You said nothing to defend Secret Rings so I will assume that means you didn't like it. I didn't include Boom because that wasn't made by Sonic Team. Even with Unleased you said "an almost perfect level design (at day)," Which means you think the night levels aren't as good, or as I put it "disappointing", and the night levels are the whole purpose for that game existing. Oh, and I'm not using my own personal opinion. Look up the critical reception of the games. Sonic 4 part 2 got mediocre reviews. 5/10s or 6/10s across the board from critics and fans. Sonic games haven't been great for a very long time. Probably the Sonic Advance games or Sonic Colours was the last time Sonic was great.
@Euro-B Hey look, a Sonic Team Stan has appeared. Not sure why you quoted "Completely bad reputation" in your reply to me because I never said that. Also, you listed 3 good games. Lets see how many bad/disappointing games we can list: Sonic Forces, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic and the Black Knight, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 06, Sonic 4 part 1 and 2, Sonic Unleased (you liked it, I didn't), Sonic Lost World. 8 vs 3.
In the last 10 years Sonic Team have mostly produced mediocre to bad Sonic games and a bunch of Puyo Puyo games. It is time to archive the team.
Translation: Our Sonic Team sucks and thanks to the free labour provided by fans there are some good Sonic games out there. This tricks people into thinking fondly of our once great mascot without us having to lift a finger.
@TheFarmboy Maybe those fans could spend their time and energy making their own thing as a spiritual successor (Cities: Skylines, Mighty No.9, Yooka Laylee, Axiom Verge, Two Point Hospital, TemTem, War for the Overworld) and maybe they could even sell the game on the Nintendo eshop.
@Slowdive sorry mate but that is hogwash. There are plenty of games I played back in the early 80s that are nowhere to be found anywhere online and that is fine. Your example of Super Metroid is one of the most famous games of its generation and had large production runs meaning finding the game on original hardware is incredibly easy. People would have made spiritual successors and other Metroidvania games even if the roms didn't exist. And again "They are part of history" is just sentimentality and nostalgia talking. As for young developers, there is a thing called teaching. Where people who know how to do something inform the younger people. There are also developers conferences where people share their knowledge. No need to backup games to study the code.
I've yet to hear a compelling argument as to WHY we need game preservation beyond sentimentality. Oh, and your little comment about "some people use rom site for piracy", change the word some to most. And another thing, don't let Xbox off the hook for game preservation. Turtles in Time Reshelled is lost to the ages, and some exclusive original Xbox games have NEVER been rerelease either in physical or digital form.
It is no different to Pumpkin Spice Latte, the McRib, Cadbury's Creme Eggs, Disney movies and pretty much anything else that carries a Limited Release tag and people only freak out when Nintendo do it. They said it was limited when the games were revealed and gave you 6 months to buy/play the games. Plenty of time. Also, I was just in my local supermarket and Super Mario 3D All Stars was still sitting on the shelves. The physical copies didn't disappear in a puff of smoke.
Someone needs to explain why chibi looks mean a game doesn't look like it is worth full price. Beyond snobbery I don't understand it. The developers had to remodel everything in the game, except the Pokemon by the looks of things.
@Alundra-1998 The game honours Platinum too. Porygon-Z is in the trailer, but wasn't in the Diamond/Pearl Pokedex. It was in the Platinum Pokedex though. Also, in Floaroma Town, the blonde girl next to the Pokemon Center wasn't in Diamond and Pearl, but was in Platinum.
They are preserving, and updating the original art style. I love it. Up until X and Y Pokemon games were Chibi. Using the Chibi style is perfect for the remakes. Link's Awakening on Switch was done beautifully using the same update but respect the original art style formula.
I love the look of this remake. The people moaning about the chibi art style are weird. It is a chibi remake of a Chibi game. Seriously, up until Sword and Shield, mainline Pokemon games were Chibi games. They are preserving the art style the game was originally made in. I love it.
I just checked out the gameplay trailer for this game. Turned it off after about 20 seconds. Not for me. Such a shame as I loved the original game. I'd rather have a port of that one.
I'm sorry, but is this even real? There is nothing being reported about anyone having a problem about this game, except for today. I can find no evidence of anyone having a problem with this game before today's "statement". It looks to me like the developers decided to make a fake controversy to get the white knight YouTubers to make videos about their game calling out "the puritans of Twitter", while simultaneously promoting their game. This is just free marketing and you are all falling for it.
