@DOZINCA_BEE Taking advantage? They could be charging a hell of a lot more. Based on past VC prices NES games were £5, SNES £8, N64 £10, Mega Drive £8, totalling up everything they have on the system is almost £1000.
There are some valid criticisms of this game, and a lot of invalid criticisms. For example, yes, the game is too linear, anyone who says otherwise is lying. There is a bad balance between narrative, exploration and combat.
However, I disagree with the criticisms over Adam and the story. They handle Samus in a believable way considering what happens in Metroid 2 and Super Metroid. A being she considered an enemy saw her as it's mother, then sacrificed itself to help her and take down Mother Brain. That sort of thing would leave a person with some sort of trauma and lasting effects. It makes sense that she is having an existential crisis. However, freaking out over Ridley doesn't since she has already defeated him numerous times.
As for Adam, well, we know Samus has a deep respect for him as a commander so she is following his rules. She may be a bounty hunter, but she respects the chain of command. This isn't a mission she was hired to do, she tagged along on a military operation. Adam is in charge, not Samus. He tells her not to use things, so she doesn't. Though, using her full arsenal is weird when she clearly needs more power at times.
Some perspective, the video has 65K dislikes. The hardware sales for Switch are 89.04 million sales. The number of dislikes are from 0.073000898472597% of Switch owners.
Nintendo really do try to get their file sizes down. I wish Sony and Microsoft would work a bit on their file compression so you don't have to download those massive updates.
Yet another developer using Nintendo IP just so they can gain notoriety when Nintendo shuts down their fan game. Nintendo's stance on fan games is well known so why anyone would even try to legitimately make one is beyond me. The developer knew Nintendo would eventually take it down, and when they did their name would be plastered all over the internet so they will get a ton of attention. If you have the skills to make your own game, make your own IP that is inspired by your favourite game and nobody can do anything about it.
@BloodNinja Lady is how Adam used to address her when she was part of the Galactic Federation and she programmed her gunship's AI to be a recreation of Adam, including the AI calling her Lady.
Is it the 80s? Parents, if you are concerned your kids are staring at screens too much, TAKE THE SCREEN AWAY. Be the parent. Stop blaming games on your inability to tell your child "no".
@Ardisan Nope, people might notice the similarities but they wouldn't cry about it. Axiom Verge is a prime example of a game heavily influenced by Metroid and nobody complained about it ripping off Metroid.
Gaming companies liked it so much, they based early 3D games on this design Also, its cosplay folks, if people can dress up as aliens, monsters, and robots, a little bit of gender swapping is more than fine.
Athlete wins a gold medal, credits her good luck charm - Armchair Internet users bring her down a peg for telling her the character isn't Zelda. I'm sure she is crying over it while cradling her gold medal.
@SortingHat im not forgetting anything. Who was it that was complaining every time they had to buy a virtual console game every time there was new hardware? Oh right the gamers. Well, here they are opening up the vault and releasing games people might not have played.
@Bryon15 "More games that no one has ever heard of before. Why do they do this?"
You answered your own question before you asked it. They are pushing the lesser known games. Surely if you are all for "Game preservation" that should apply to all games, not just the popular ones.
Got mine directly from Nintendo UK today. Such a gorgeous sculpt. She is staying on the card though.
Also, good to see the children are still crying over the functionality of the amiibo. Maybe get good at the game and you will see you don't need what the amiibo does.
@Shambo yeah, I mostly played it for the story. A good story can save a "bad" game for me. Though Dark Tomorrow pales in comparison to the Arkham series.
I hope you can turn this off. This is just making the game easier, like the amiibo. Reaching a bird statue was part of the challenge. Now, don't worry, you are always saving. Are people really that bad at the game they need an auto save feature?
Hey, if you want to believe in internet rumours that could be written by literally anyone who is bored one night, then you deserve every disappointment coming your way.
"Yeah, Nintendo are very wary about using old IP because it's such a huge thing for them to do. It's much easier to go with a new idea, a new IP, than to reuse an old one."
Yeah, I don't think that's the case. The reason Nintendo allowed Ubisoft to make Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle is they did something new with the IP that Nintendo had never considered. Making "F-Zero but with better physics" isn't doing something new.
Sega releasing add on after add on for the Mega Drive Mini? Have they learned nothing? This is exactly how they started to fail in the hardware department all those years ago.
Good, I hope that 5 minutes of internet fame was worth it. They were working for a client that most likely signed a NDA to not share any information. As per the legal documents, this was basically stolen trade secrets. TPC at least went after the leakers and not the company they worked for.
@HamatoYoshi It looks like it will tie in to Breath of the Wild 2, and some people probably haven't played that since it was released on the Wii. Like how they rereleased Ocarina of Time when they were making Wind Waker.
Based on this E3, Nintendo was probably the best performance, BUT it would have been considered average in any other year. The pandemic has really hurt game development. I think they would have had more to show in any other year.
@Bizaster No it isn't. They want to have accurate viewer numbers for their E3 stream. If people watch via another streamer, their viewer number goes down. Having two open means both Nintendo and the re-streamer get views for their video. Both sides win.
