Re: Next Splatoon Patch Drops October 20th, Rapid Blaster Pro Arrives Tomorrow

@MJKOP Battle Dojo is one on screen, the other person on the gamepad. I have some little on's also (2, 5, & 9), they love the dojo. Usually I give the gamepad (due to motion controls simplicity) to the youngest in a match.
If on screen you can use a wii mote & nunchuck. But, the better option is a Wii Pro gamepad with a Wii mote strapped to it. Look this up on the Internet, it works well & was actually put in by Nintendo Devs.
The dojo is a nice break from turf wars & ranked. We'll usually spend most of our time trolling each other.

Re: Super Meat Boy May Be Coming to the Wii U

@TrueWiiMaster I thought the whole "debacle" was that Nintendo was limiting the size of files to be downloaded. I haven't played this game, but from what I'd heard of the content, it'd never fit on the Wii shop. We would have had a gimped port at best, if not some completely different game.
I'll be buying this.

Re: New Nintendo Controller Patent Features Rotational Shoulder Buttons

TomKnows

@rjejr this would still be a concept, right? So, maybe more buttons on the final product. This could work. It reminds me of the controls on Sony's first Silent Hill game. The L1 & R1 were used for strafing or moving around a target. I believe the L2 & R2 were attacks. But if we have one button that could be depressed, response would be that much quicker.

Re: Some Western Splatoon Players Would Prefer Not To Compete With Japan

TomKnows

@grumblebuzzz From ranged battle this gives your weapon more distance. At close range this helps them from getting stuck & makes them harder to hit. Also (close up) in a clinch, they tend to point gun down & shoot your feet. Also, if you notice, their jumps are sometimes higher or lower, depending on their weapon & distance from you.

@Zyrac I play at all times of day, but mostly 12:00 AM to 03:00 AM. I agree, it would be hard to find matches without this population. No complaints for lag; I actually hold my own fairly well. But I would still like a regional option. I want to send friend requests & make more on-line friends. But the language barrier is an issue.

Re: Nintendo Download: 13th August (North America)

TomKnows

Glad to see Nintendo has more digital games. They should have been doing this last gen. If only we didn't have to boot into Wii mode, but I guess that's the price of backwards compatibility. I'm getting this game. Also, I feel it's a fair price.

Re: Review: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Wii U eShop)

TomKnows

@TTGlider During main gameplay the pad is a map. Note: you can also do an overlay of the map in the main screen (of TV); it will be in the top right corner of screen.
Also, the gamepad can be used for off TV play. You can toggle between the main screen & map(in this setting). Or, you can also do the overlay function mentioned above (in off tv play, on your gamepad).
That's it. The game really has no touch functions.

Re: Nintendo Quality Of Life Patent Applications Appear Online

TomKnows

Maybe this can somehow be connected to mobile gaming, but not sure how. Maybe a clock that tracks how long you sleep (or gamepad/phone is in dock), can unlock game content? I thought of a similar idea with a pedometer & "walking" unlocking something in game.? But not sure how it can be implemented.

Re: Elliot Quest For Wii U To Get Free Content Update

TomKnows

@Spoony_Tech It may be blasphemy, but use a guide the first time. Then put the game down for a few months & come back to it. See if you can remember. I do this, but my enjoyment doesn't always come from discovery. I like to play around with the frame rate & mechanics of a game. Story is secondary to me. Of course this is different if I'm playing a classic series like Zelda or Metriod. I always do a "blind" run for these.
Either way, GET THIS GAME! Great little game.

Re: N-ZAP89 and Octobrush Weapons are Next Up in Splatoon Update

TomKnows

@MikeW We don't know yet. That seems to be how it is with the most of Nintendo's games, this gen. Look at MK & Smash. Both getting constant updates.
I'd say get Splatoon now.! You're missing the Splatfest events & items (sea snails) you get from them. Also, the community/on-line play is really active now. I'm in US California & get matches at all times of the day(ranked & territory battles).
