Nintendo's regions have had their ups and downs with Splatfest themes, with some being much better than others. Nintendo of America has a doozy on the way, though, tying in with Hasbro for a Transformers event.
The 24-hour face-off in North America will be Autobots vs Decepticons, with each player receiving a cool t-shirt for their side and in-match ink matching each team's respective colours. It'll all be going down from 9pm Pacific on 28th August (midnight Eastern) and running until the same time on 29th August.

A tough choice in terms of which side to choose. The Autobots do have the whole defending humanity thing going on. But the Decepticons have my old faves Soundwave, Laserbeak, and Ravage, plus most of them can fly. I think I will go with the Decepticons.

Why are they promoting transformers to Nintendo gamers. Didn't that platinum transformers game get announced for everything but the wiiu. Very strange.

@Blastcorp64 There are a bunch of different Transformers series. The one Platinum is licensed to make (ie. Gen1) is different from the one being promoted in Splatfest (ie. Transformers: Robots in Disguise 2015). Maybe we'll see a future WiiU game based on this newer series.

@MegaWatts No. You'd destroy with a squad. If you have any kind of communication, it'd be major advantage. So many times last night I was cursing my team, not knowing what they were doing.

Ooh! Here's an idea: For the UK, it's Doctors VS Daleks! If we're getting Splatfests based off of licensed products, this needs to happen!
This certainly makes an actual Nintendo-themed Splatfest more likely too. Such as Mario (series) vs Zelda (series). Or.. dare I say it? Yoshi vs Epona? No question which side I'd pick there.

OK, so why is Nintnedo rubbing our face in the fact that Wii U isn't getting the new Platinum game? Did Reggie choose this, I swear that guy just keeps on mocking us. All Splatfest choices should be put out onto Twitter w/ 3 choices and we get to pick one. Though I suppose if Hasbro is paying them for it they had to take the money. Can anybody confirm this is indeed some sort of paid tie-in promotion? Does the movie release that day on DVD or something like Mad Max?

@rjejr - Maybe we can start rumors that this is going to follow a Nintendo Direct where a Nintendo made Transformers game will be coming to Wii U in 2016. It is being made by Retro and is cell shaded and based on the early 80's cartoon. It is titled Transformers (Not Metroid) Prime

Awesome, this sounds like a fun Splatfest. I hope Europe also gets a fantastic theme, though I bet we'll get something dull like Sunflowers vs Dandelions.
I'm not a fan of Transformers at all, so you can probably count me out. Still, I really like the way Nintendo is embracing cross-promotion like this. It was around this time last year when we got the Mercedes DLC for Mario Kart 8. I hope this sort of thing becomes even more frequent, but hopefully something I care about nexr time. Although I have no idea what that might be.
NoA never releases things, unless it's a terrible idea and should not happen in which case it becomes NA exclusive.

@rjejr Activision is publishing that Transformers game. That's their decision, not Platinum's.
I don't think there's been concrete data on Bayo 2's sales. Last I heard, it was around 750k, which isn't too bad. Not great, but not horrible either.
I'm not a big fan of Transformers, but I'll side with the Decepticons. I think their icon looks cooler.

@sinalefa They should have made it Mad Max vs MGSV since the 2 multiple platform titles both launch days after this on September 1. If we are going to advertise games Wii U isn't getting might as well advertise 2 at once. Then in October they can have COD vs Battlefront. My bets on Star Wars for that one. Maybe they can throw us a bone and do Lego Dimensions vs Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival. That ones for you @Captain_Gonru
@Spoony_Tech I almost never have connection issues, but you're right about team Vs. team. I still can't vote Deceptions though, they're evil. Though as somebody mentioned this earlier, I might have to pick Dalek over The Doctor. As luck would have it I just watched Dalek tonight.
Decepticons, for a simple reason: according to Michael Bay's version, all of todays technology, including consoles, was based on studying Megatron. Also, Schockwave and Bonecrusher are my favourite Decepticons, while the Autobots only have Mecha Prime.

Gen 1 Transformers ftw. Now this is going to be a hard choice. I love the Autobots, and want to protect the world. But sometimes you just want to side with the Decepticons and set the world on fire. Besides my first Transformers toy was the Ravage/Rumble 2-pak, And one of my fav Transfomers is a 'Con: Skywarp.

I've never been a huge Transformers fan, but a few of the men in my life (hubby, brothers) are. Can't decide which team to choose. Leaning towards Decepticons, digging that purple shirt. We'll see!
I always collected the autobots as a kid, and I wear an autobot sticker on the back of my hockey helmet, so I guess I'm going to have to side with Callie for the first time ever. I feel like Decepticons will win though, not that they should, since Decepticons are always the cowards that retreat when confronted by the Autobots.
