Update (Thu 23rd Apr, 2020 15:15 BST): Merge Games has now revealed that Spirit of the North will arrive on Switch on 7th May, with pre-orders going live on the eShop from 30th April. It'll be priced at £19.99/ €20.99/ $24.99.
Original Article (Tue 18th Feb, 2020 18:30 GMT): Following its PS4 launch last year, Infuse Studio's indie adventure Spirit of the North will be making the leap to Nintendo's Switch in the spring, according to publisher Merge Games. If you missed it in the flood of games last November, the game is a third-person single-player adventure that has you getting under the fur of a red fox and exploring Icelandic landscapes on a quest of self-discovery.

In your travels you come across the foxiest of ladies - a female spirit fox - who also happens to be the guardian of the Northern Lights. As you can see from the trailer above, there's plenty of puzzles, ancient civilisations and glowing sigils to enjoy as you explore the tundra.
We missed it on PS4, but it all looks rather soothing and beautiful. Here are a few features highlighted in the official blurb followed by some screenshots:
• Make your way across stunning landscapes, on an emotionally stirring journey.
• Solve environmental puzzles to change the world around you, using ancient powers bestowed upon you by the guardian of the Northern Lights.
• Follow the mysterious Spirit Fox across a land left in ruin as you discover more about a lost civilization.
• Moving orchestral soundtrack featuring 14 original compositions.
While it may not be the Fox Nintendo fans want to see emerging from its hole this spring, we're always game for a calming, charming adventure and with the PS4 version getting a relatively positive reception, this could be one keeping an eye on.
I wanna take you home, haha. I won't do you no harm, no. You GOT to be all mine, all mine... Let us know if you wanna take Spirit of the North home below.

In NA, the PS4 version just came out a couple weeks ago.
Foxblade Chronicles
Fox Stranding
This looks rather interesting. For some odd reason another game came to mind when I watched this video, Shadow of the Colossus. I wish that game came out on Switch.
I do love foxs so yep im in
Maybe.
Depends on the pricetag.
Wavedashing, check, shining, check, a mid-air charge, check, yep, checks all the boxes. Lol
Looks very similar to "The First Tree" the indie title which is a great game.....
Interesting. Looks peaceful, perhaps depending on pricr.
New Super Lucky's Tale, Furwind, Fox 'n' Forest, The First Tree and now Spirit of the North. If only I knew which fox game to buy.
Looks like The Legend of Fox: Breath of the Wild 😗
Hopefully physical release for both Switch and PS4 version like they did for Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles.
@Tipehtfomottob Tails' Adventure!
I absolutely love foxes, so might check this out. I’m getting some BotW/ Okami/ Journey vibes, which is always intriguing.
I feel sorry for foxes. They live extremely difficult lives, scraping by to survive. Beautiful animals that deserve to be treated more compassionately.
Plus DLC, "A New Peppy: Spirit of the Barrel Roll"
That trailer looked like the PC version.
It looks good with a touch of Breath of the Wild in there. There seem to be a lot of animal exploration/puzzle games on Switch.
@Tipehtfomottob You forgot Foxy land 1 & 2.
Who else got tricked by the click-baity title and thought it was about a new StarFox?
@shani
How ? You can see a normal fox under the text, and the text clearly mentions the title.
@HappyMaskedGuy
That goes for pretty much all animals, whom should be treated far better then they are.
And deserve better lives then they have.
Is this a sequel to The First Tree?
@KitsuneNight Totally agree. We humans should be custodians and protectors—not jailers and abusers.
@HappyMaskedGuy I got a bit of a Shadow of Mordor vibe from it, what with the fox alternating between a physical form and a spirit form, and whatnot.
@KingBowser86 Tails isn't a fox. Anyone who's read Nintendo Power knows that Tails is in fact a mutant squirrel.
Getting string Journey vibes from this one. Definitely on my list!
This actually DOES look interesting, and strangely relaxing. Animals are cool.
@GrailUK More like Okami of the North...
@Anti-Matter yeah it's going physical for both at the end of May. At least in the UK. Had in the Amazon wish list for a couple of weeks now
@ThanosReXXX Hehe ^^
@KitsuneNight @HappyMaskedGuy Lovely to hear you guys saying this – however I'd like to add we should should also protect from harm the fugly ones and the tiny ones most people either ignore or hate. Otherwise our compassion remains superficial and based only on what WE like – and not really about empathising with the animals perspective. If we are really about them, and not us and our likes and dislikes, we would naturally include ALL creatures in our compassion.
It's easy to love foxes because they are beautiful and don't negatively effect most humans. But I believe with good reason that all animals and insects hurt, including what humans offensively call 'vermin'. I'd say the ugly and small need our compassion even more – because most humans WILL hurt them.
Otherwise from their point of view we are the vermin in the world.
Looks nice, if it does well on Switch I may pick it up during a sale.
First The First Tree, now this? What is it with foxes and spirits?
I think devs have discovered my love of foxes, exploration/puzzle games, and Scandinavian countries.
